How a Winchester works (Video)

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 07:09 AM PDT

The ACOG scope actually has 4.21x magnification power instead of 4x.

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 01:05 AM PDT

Since optic zoom power appears to be based on the minimum fov you can set (80° through to 103°), scopes will magnify to a predetermined value based on 80° i.e. the 2x scope MagnificationFOV is set to 40°, 80÷40 = 2x zoom power.

The ACOG scope for whatever reason has its MagnificationFOV set to 19° instead of 20° so if you do the math it actually works out to 4.21x magnification.

EDIT: seems like the 15x scope also still zooms out to just 12x - the MagnificationFOV setting found here sets it to 6.667 when 5.333 would be much closer to what it claims. Then again, who actually tries sniping at those ranges...

If the devs ever decided that this was worth fixing though, let's hope that the reticles also get adjusted as well.

edit: lel, this was meant to be a bit of fun trivia but I typed it out in a way that ended up sounding more like 'omg fix this broken shit now'

[Unpopular] Why MMR doesnt really show your skill

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 04:12 AM PDT

Before I start, i apologize for my english

Who am I :

-Competitive player in 2 different team (including one for a town) at a decent lvl (for an idea we ended 50 over 600 team at GLL 1)

-80% of my playtime was tournament / scrim : XPULZ, OPENSERIES, GLL, BIG LAN, Arena, local league, etc, etc, etc

-Actual coach for a website where i deliver lesson and give a big guide of around 30 pages to learn how to play this game

-Last time i try harded a little the game was season 6 : https://pubg.op.gg/user/Znellia?server=pc-eu i stoped playin in may 2018, find a job and was annoyed by patch 17

Why i'm making this post :

-Bored by coach selling 20€ / hours lesson with "TOP 1000 EU" as only argument

-Bored by twicher telling absolute bullshit to their follower because "i've been master last season"

-Bored by boosting account offer, seriously, what's the point ?

-Ppl being absolutely closed about gameplay debate because "stfu noob i'm plat"

-Globaly to show ppl their is no reason they must feel concern about their rank and should enjoy this game as it is until a real ranked MMR is up with competitive rules, or facite become prevalent

-Tell bluehole its maybe time to create a real MMR or give an incentive in playin pubg in a different way

My arguments :

1) We are not all playin the same mode in the same game

Its pretty obvious 50 to 60% of ppl are not giving a fuck about wining the game, most of them are going to hotdrop and die in 2 minutes and the server will be mostly empty after 5 minutes during over will be hiding far away from the plane really trying to reach top 1.

Its like you were playin 2 different mode in LoL but in the same game with the same rank = no sense

It also mean with a bit of positionning and map awarness u can be TOP 10 50% of the time by just looking at the plane path cause the map while be empty

U can clearly see the difference each time you watch a competitive game, even a little event on a custom server, where basicly, u will still be 60 in the 4th circle and not 25, making the game 300% harder and more close to the way he is supposed to be played

I think a large part of this come from 2 fact :

-Lot of streamer who hyped the game presented it with agressive gameplay

-Bluehole give no incentive in surviving, like rewarding us with a key or something, so a TOP 1 is just a screen and some BP to open a closed crate.

2) The MMR isnt accurate at all

Just go on OP.GG and check your last game players stats. Clic on your game and clic on "total rank"

60 to 70% of them are around 1700-1800 elo (we all start with 1700), 10% of them are upper 1900 and the 10-20% left are poor soul under 1700 who cant even kill a cow in a corridor

It just mean u have like few chance to meet strong player in your game and most of the time, if you check at your TOP 20 survivor, u will notice there is a few good players reaching it

Take a well know exemple : shroud

He only had 4% TOP 10 over S8. Why ? He is making the show for his audience, he doesnt care try-harding the game

It means even if you are in his game, you have 5% chance to meet him, he will mostly die by playing full aggro

His last game (he made top 24) illustrate it fully : in TOP 10 u have only 1 1900 and the 9 over are 1700 - 1800

3) Good elo often mean nothing

In PUBG, patience is a strong virtue considering you gain way more ELO than u can loose

A top 50 (which bascily consist in hiding in a house 10 minutes) make you lost between 0 to very low ELO, even at high lvl, but a simple top 40 with 1 kill can bring you back 3 to 5.

Sometimes even ending top 80 with 1 kill still keep you at 0 lost so it just ask something like 6 or 7 horrible TOP 90 to cancel a TOP 3 with 2 kills

By this logic, a guy with a lot of time to spend on the game can slowly but surely climb TOP 1000 even if he only have 0.40 KDA, 90 AVG DMG and 20% Top 10 with 3% TOP 1.

I even know ppl with 10% TOP 10 and 0 TOP 1 who are/have been in the TOP 600....

But can you really think he is as good as another guy in the TOP 1000 with 30% winrate and 4 KDA ?

4) The real danger is not here

I recruted for my team, i've played against/with a shitload of dude, met a lot IRL, talked long night about strat in dedidacted discord with them... 90% of them are not giving a fuck about FFA

Ppl who are really good are mostly in competitive (or on twitch still making the show like shroud) and dont play FFA except for having fun, but most of the time they are training on scrim/custom game what allow them to actually play with the Tournament rules so they dont take bad habits

It just mean even if the MMR was 200% accurate, it will still be not representative at all of the real lvl of the current top 1000 and by far.

before you ask :

What is a good player if we just read FFA stat ?

I always take competitive game as a landmark and the answer is simple :

Considering point 2, if you already struggle at wining over a server with 60% of ppl under 1 KDA, how are u going to rules in a game full of players getting your lvl and most the time better ?

So, in FFA its like 3 KDA an 400 AVG dmg without try-harding to be taken seriously in a decent team (something like good amateur at national lvl)

Conclusion :

Once again, my goal isnt to break your dream, tell you suck or stuff like this, just want to remind obvious thing to ppl faping way too much about their stats or using it for earning money in a bad way over ppl not enough knowing the game etc, etc

I love PUBG, i wear my chikken dinner shirt when i go at work and even if i stopped playing it every night, i will keep going and whish its best

EDIT : TLDR : The FFA exp is biased and the MMR coming with it aswell, thinking the MMR currently show you real lvl is wrong, the game in its casual aspect is more in mood stat than in a kind of meta stat
Take the competitive experience as an exemple, once ppl really want to play for top 1, the game is longer and harder

Why is PUBG tournament viewership so low?

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 08:44 AM PDT

Currently the star series is running full force but the viewership is quite low (around 7k English ) and I want to know why you are or aren't watching. Personally I really enjoy watching PUBG tournaments and hope they continue so consider this post an attempt to flush out why people aren't watching (and then hopefully have someone important sees it). I would like to outline some ideas why and see what other people think. Thanks!

1) The tournament is mid week during the day 2) It didn't have the hype (Broadcaster Royale is advertised in PUBG but stars series wasn't) 3) The lack of early game action 4) Lack of team/name recognition 5) Lack of rewards to incentivize (PGI gave you skins by calling the winner of the game) 6) Not enough different languages (it appears to be only English and Russian on twitch) 7) No team cameras (you can't see the actual players you are rooting for) 8) Don't have the streamer support and hype 9) Conflict with other tournaments (CSGO is going on) 10) To many matches (20 seems like a lot) 11) Pros play with different settings so players can't relate

I would like input on these points and will edit to add more as they come up. Please be civil and thanks again!

Serious question - Why can't loot be spawned during the 60 second wait time?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 11:18 PM PDT

I just died to somebody that landed after me, because when I landed, there were no guns, when he landed, there was an M4.

Why can't guns be spawned before people get into the plane, instead of during?
