How about new Guild Hall upgrades?

Hello!

I've recently been thinking, Guild Halls need some more love from our game developers.

And since they often read reddit, decided to help them a bit (and share my thoughts and inventions with you), by doing a list of what would be nice to see added and/or improved.

Have a good day!

Why do some skills face target and some don't? It ruins those skills really.

Will we ever get the option to preview an infusion on our characters?

Or is it already possible, but I haven't figured it out yet?

It would be awesome if more support options would get the 10-target treatment!

It would be awesome if more support options would get the 10-target treatment!

Some time ago Anet made a great effort at diversifying support option by making skills like the Ranger Spirits and traits like GotL and the passive stat bonuses (Edit: I stand corrected, that this never happened, i was thinking about banners my bad, the point still stands) apply to 10 people instead of 5 like they did before the change. Since now single warrior is able to apply Empower Allies Banners to a whole raid squad and one druid can take care of might and spirit buffs, it opened up more flexible and diverse raiding compositions.

There are still skills and traits that only affect 5 people that would greatly benefit from getting buffed up to affecting 10 people instead. Since I like to play Auramancer Tempest in instanced content (please don't go on in the comments about its viability, I am aware of the ups and downs and that isn't the point of this post) and have a lot of experience with it I'll list some examples that would greatly benefit this build if they got changed to affect 10 people.

Auramancing 10 people

Tempest is perfectly capable of stacking and keeping 25 might on a group of 5 people. One of the key skills in doing so is Heat Sync.

Heat Sync

Allowing Heat Sync to apply boons to 10 targets would greatly increase the Tempests team support capabilities and help them be a more viable might stacking source for 10 man raid groups. Now you might say that this skill compares to Call of the Wild of the ranger in functionality and since this skill only affects 5 people, Heat Sync shouldn't get bumped up to 10. True, but Ranger also gets Rejuvenating Tides which seems more comparable and is able to stack might on people if combined with GotL.

Another big boon and buff application source of the tempest are the Overloads. All of them only apply their boons and buffs to 5 people. Now these are maybe more unreasonable and too powerful to buff up, but would also really help to increase the Tempest boon stacking capabilities and probably wouldn't break the meta.

Another great one to bump up to 10 people would be Sand Squall.

Sand Squall

Sand Squall is a pretty unique and cool skill that increases the duration of all boons on your allies. Bumping the target cap up to 10 would make this skill a lot more viable in assisting boon up time of a raid squad. It may also be an interesting change to have the duration increase be affected by concentration but that is another story.

The last Tempest specific point I want to mention are the aura applying skills. The damaging effects of the Tempest Shouts are fine, but it would be sweet if the auras would hit 10 people and if Aura supporting traits like Elemental Bastion would go the same way.

Elemental Bastion

Again, I used Tempest as an example because I know the build well and have experience with it, I am sure there are a lot of other skills and traits on other professions that could use the same treatment. Teach me about them in the comments if you like. I also don't think that all my examples need to be bumped up, but increasing the target cap of a selection of them would greatly help (Heat Sync and Sand Squall would be my favorites).

TL;DR: If more skills and traits would get the 10-target treatment (as showed with the example of Auramancer Tempest) more niche support builds could get better in 10 man set ups, possibly adding more builds to the meta.

Game Update Notes: August 7, 2018 -- Part 5?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 12:44 PM PDT

Action camera needs performance improvements.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 02:15 PM PDT

Action camera is one of those features that you either love or hate it.

I for one love it, that said, it needs some adjustments for better performance and accuracy.

Action camera is amazing, yet not quite perfect either.

As a raider I find myself having to compensate for it's aberrant, intermittent behavior way too often.

It's time something is done about it.

Here are some of the issues I have to deal with on a regular basis.

Skills don't work the same in action mode as they do without it.

For example.

Warrior

- headbutt:

without action cam, this move only travels the distance necessary to reach the selected target.

with action cam, this move simply tries to travel the whole distance regardless of selected target distance,

This is beyond frustrating in fights like Xera where the play area is limited.

often have I been launched off the platform because of this aberrant skill behaviour.

Revenant.

- short bow:

Short bow skill 4, is such a pain when using action cam.

it misfires a lot, I have snap to target plus press aim release key to fire options on.

Still it refuses to fire giving me a red aoe circle.

- Mace skill 3:

Another skill that when in action cam will completely ignore target selection and distance to target and sent you flying past your target.

when not in action cam this skill will properly gague distance to target and execute correctly.

In fights like Sabetha, this is a nightmare, I am literally afraid of using this skill there.

More than a few times have I been killed by a firewall due to this skill sending me flying past sabetha and into the firewall's path.

Guardian.

- Greatsword skill 3:

Another skill that will send you flying past your target and gets you killed.

In fights like Sabetha, Xera and slothasor I just don't use this skill period.

Aoe prioritization:

The way AOE works in action cam is a bit limited for my raiding purposes.

I would like to see one more option added.

- If I have a called target or I'm targeting a called target, all my AOE's go there.

When there is no called target, use the normal priority we have now.

Target prioritization:

We have called target and something called alert target.

The latter is something most people don't even know about, let alone use.

Alert target would be interesting, if the marker remained active and was targetable via keybind.

For raiding specifically, we need this targetting to be expanded.

Called target needs to have extra keybinds and call functions for 1st target, 2nd, 3rd, and so on.

different icons for different priority targets.

I should be able to call targets based on priority.

Squad members should be able to press a specific keybind to target a specific called target by priority.

Example:

I call and mark priority 1 target, and squad can press ctrl+1 to target called target.

I call priority 2 target and squad can press ctrl+2 to target it.

Why is there no gold reward in WvW?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 02:18 PM PDT

It's easy to make some gold in PvE if you just play the game, do dungeons or even raids. It's easy to make some gold in PvP if you just play it (reward chests up to 20g!). But it feels like there is no gold reward in WvW at all. I played WvW a lot this week and if I check my inventory I made a profit of 5g after paying for my buff food and some siege blueprints. Why is this a thing? WvW is great but the rewards feel so underwhelming :(

How do you guys stick with a profession?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 05:41 PM PDT

I mean really. All of them are so great. I actually find myself on a different one each time I log on. Here are a few things I like and don't like about each. What do you guys like/dislike about them?

Mesmer: The animations are awesome and the mobility is top notch. Only thing I don't like is the fear of being stuck to a support role in organized content.

Elementalist: Sword weaver has to be my favorite weapon set in the game. Combat really seems to flow well for me. I just don't like being so squishy.

Necromancer: I love Reaper with the powerful looking greatsword animations. I also like how tanky necro feels. Not sure why though, but I just could never get into this class like the others.

Engineer: Holosmith is great. Great DPS and the sheer amount of utility the profession has is amazing. My only real complaint is just that I can't seem to find an armor set I like on mine.

Ranger: Soulbeast is everything I could have wanted from ranger. This is also the character I have the most playtime on and my first 80 & first map completion. I'm just worried about being stuck to a druid healer in group content.

Thief: Staff daredevil just flows so well, it's great. Also love the mobility and sheer damage output here. Only thing I don't like is how squishy it is.

Guardian: I'm in love with the firebrand tome skill animations. I also did most of Path of Fire with this character and it went really well. Class unfortunately is a little squishy.

Warrior: Love how tanky this class is. The sustain and low learning curve are great for a casual player like me. Been doing well as bannerslave in my first fractals lately. Sometimes I unfortunately get bored of the skill animations when compared to other professions.

Revenant: I really like the skill animations and the buffing ability of Herald. Hven't tried Renegade yet sadly. I find myself frustrated by the energy system (probably because it hasn't clicked quite yet...close) and the combat seems to get boring with mostly auto attacks for me.

Wish I could even get down to 3 professions that I swapped between instead of the full 9. You guys have any advice? What made you guys decide to focus on one or more?

I always love reading posts where people ask what profession to play and what they like about them.

Serpent's Ire runs

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 06:33 PM PDT

Hi! So I really need to do the Vabi meta events for some achievements and what not and I was wondering, asides from the OpenCommunity is there any other group in EU that runs it often? Preferably at night time?
I would love to join OC but their schedule for this event is not compatible with mine because of work.
Would love to know if there's other groups or guilds that do it regularly.
Thanks for your patience, sorry if this has been asked before!

GW2: endgame, The Heart of Azeroth and its possibilities.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 10:23 AM PDT

One of gw2's strongest and somehwat polemic features is its extremely easy to acquire BiS gear. This in my opinion shouldn't be changed, it goes well with the whole philosophy of not taking ages to get to the fun. However, I feel like endgame progression on any character is extremely bland and masteries aren't really achieving what many of us would like, more character build and combat customization.

With WoW's newest expansion artifact weapons were retired and you get an amulet called The Heart of Azeroth, you fill it up with "juice" by questing, exploring, doing dungeons or raids and so on and filling it up gives you new perks that interact with your character in mostly positive ways. So a system that you progress doing anything you like to do in game that gives you some sense of progression, basically. These perks should also be an opportunity to introduce ideas we have seen that we will probably not see ever as traits, like:

  • Every field you interact with is a X field, dependant on your choice for that tier.
  • Ambient creatures will always be aggressive towards you and in return give better loot or never be agressive even after attacked and give none.
  • X condition you apply does more damage but you lose the ability to apply Y condition.
  • Your on critical effects happen a different way, IE a 33% on critical effect happens every third hit instead or these effects stay RNG but get a slightly better chance while under a health threshold.

There are tons of good ideas out there for this, just wanted to post and get this off my chest.
