As a West Virginia native I am still blown away 76 is even happening. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 10:04 AM PDT Nothing happens in West Virginia and it's been a junkie-laden cultural black hole for as long as I can remember. I'm just being honest. But I'm really hoping this will celebrate the best of the culture that isn't paid attention to much anymore, and get a little tourism to the area. Cus as backwards and insufferable as it can be I sure do fuckin love it, and I want the best for it. I live in Europe now and when it was confirmed to be in West Virginia, I said something like 'EH?!' and called my brother in Beckley, who loves the franchise as well and was just as blown away. Feels so weird to have that spotlight. Most Americans don't even know it's a state. God I hope it's good. Any other WV natives on here? [link] [comments] |

I was a fool to not play Fallout New Vegas for so long. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 03:11 AM PDT I was a complete fool, I rejected playing Fallout New Vegas for so long, my partner tried many times to tell me it was so much better than Fallout 4. My reason? I didn't like the way it looked, I couldn't be arsed with a karma system and didn't sound fun. I was wrong! I have now done my first playthrough, I just enjoyed every moment. I had one complaint and that was I couldn't sprint but that was nothing in comparison to the enjoyment I got from it. I just had to put this here for no other reason than to my accept stupidity, haha [link] [comments] |
The Fallout Game That Made Me Cry. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 06:05 AM PDT This post will be hating a little bit on F3 so if any fans of those are here, please don't just downvote me. I played through Fallout 1 a few days ago again, when I played it first I was just a child and couldn't appriciate how well the game was made. This game is a real masterpiece, the computer which you find in a building (can't remember which building), which not even many people found, has more to talk about than president EDEN from fallout 3, you can even play chest with the computer. Fallout 1's town of Junktown is like Megaton from Fallout 3. And in fallout 1, both options for the town can be seen as good. In Fallout 3 what do you do? Gun down the idiot who wants to destroy the town, or help him nuke the town because why not? Fallout 1 and 2 are the stories of how the BoS failed and were wrong. Fallout 3 tries to revive that but you are just a camera, and your Dad is actually the main character, after that it's Liberty Prime leading the charge on the Enclave. Now to the point that made me cry, it was when I got to the Master, he wasn't a bad person, he was just wrong, like the BoS in 1 and 2, he was a character done right, all he was was wrong in his beliefs, he had a good idea but didn't know that super mutants were sterile, you have to convince him to call his super mutants to ask if any super mutant got pregnant, and after that he self destructs because he realizes what he had done, I now realized how much of a masterpiece this game was. And what did EDEN do? He self desctructed because why not, he had no real reason to do it he just did if you managed to get lucky to pass some speech checks. Fallout 1 is my favourite game alongside FNV now and Fallout 2 is a close second. What a great game. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2018 05:12 AM PDT New Vegas is currently on sale on steam with a very enticing price. But is it worth spending an extra £5 on the ultimate edition with all dlc? [link] [comments] |
I think I finally put my finger on why I'm feeling hesitant about Fallout 76. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 10:36 AM PDT To me, Fallout is a building game. I create my character and he goes out in the world and things start to change. He meets people, does quests, and slowly has a bigger and bigger impact on the world. Along the way, my character also grows, leveling up, getting new skills, and getting better at skills. I collect a weapons and armor arsenal that works for me and can even modify my stuff in FO4. You can even customize and build your settlements and bases in FO4. So, I feel like everything I'm doing in the game has at least a little significance because it's part of the larger world I'm building. I have lasting impact on the world because it picks up where I left off when I load a save. Collecting junk, buying and selling stuff, it's all part of the big story. I'm excited about 76, I pre-ordered, but I know it's going to be different. It will be fun and I like the idea of strategizing, but I hope there's a building element in the world as well. I hope there's a cake and it's not all just frosting if you know what I mean. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2018 08:05 AM PDT Do you think open world (no opt-out) PvP is a positive addition to the Fallout experience? Please explain your answers below. If you're voting, don't forget to drop an upvote for visibility. The poll results aren't much good if we don't have input from the entire audience due to visibility issues. If we're still below five votes by the end of the day, I'll have to declare the results void. [link] [comments] |
After level 100 what guns are viable? Posted: 14 Aug 2018 06:17 AM PDT So I grinded out xp yesterday and now my weapons are marshmallow shooters, are guns like the gauss rifle the only viable weapons this far in my playthrough? [link] [comments] |
Gonna start another Fallout 4 play through Posted: 14 Aug 2018 10:17 AM PDT Give me what faction I should join, my characters main weapon, the choices I make, just give me a unique build for this play through. [link] [comments] |
Why can't NCR defeat the legion right away? Posted: 14 Aug 2018 06:51 AM PDT I played this game and this baffles me a lot. The NCR is a highly armed organisation armed with modern technology like assault rifle and machine gun. They have shown to be able to defeat even the technologically superior brotherhood of steel. On the other hand we have Kaisar's Legion, who are a bunch of barbarian that uses melee weapon and some shitty shotgun at best. Shouldn't NCR be able to curb stomp them without any problem. Hell, even that one brotherhood scout is baffled by this [link] [comments] |

A thought on the possibility of mounts in Fallout 76. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 02:21 PM PDT So I kinda just realized that there could be a possibility of mounts being implemented into Fallout 76. You have to consider the facts that we do know about 76; it's online, fast travel will supposedly cost caps (how much exactly I don't know, but I'd imagine the cost would increase the further the distance you try to fast travel), and the overall map size will be absolutely MASSIVE. So in my opinion I think there's a decent possibility we could see mounts in the game. The question is, though, what kind of mounts will we get? I've come up with a few that seem the most logical;
Some less likely mounts could include;
What do you guys think? EDIT: Since I also kind of just thought of this; Not really sure how weapons would work when using mounts, since that would likely be a very helpful feature if mounts are implemented. Personally, I would make it so that you can only use one-handed weapons (pistols, melee weapons, etc) when riding a mount, or only certain mounts would allow more weapons to be used (i.e being able to use rifles on a rad-stag or brahmin). For automotive mounts such as motorcycles or robots, they'd probably be the "best" mounts in terms of speed or whatever, but to make them balanced you'd have to keep them maintained with tools/scrap/fuel/etc that's somewhat hard to find or make. Same would go for animal mounts, but you'd have to keep them healthy and well-fed instead. [link] [comments] |
[FO4] I'm pretty sure the Brotherhood of Steel is trying to kill me Posted: 14 Aug 2018 02:40 AM PDT Doing my first survival character and just recently bought the DLCs. I know I'm late to the party but I never got into FO4 like I did NV. Anyway, I'm level 18. Have a pretty solid network of settlements and a solid character build. I decide it's time to help out the BoS. The scribe asks me to recover tech from a place called Rayburn Point. Okay, sure. I check the map and it tells me to go to the far northeast corner. A place I haven't gone yet, and a place that can be pretty nasty. Not a big deal, Ad Victoriam brothers I'll make the journey. After 2 or 3 hours of traveling, trying to jump from safe house to safe house, dying a lot, trying to avoid enemies and drop saves where I can, I make it to a house. The couple wants me to find their daughter. Yeah nah sorry I'm on Brotherhood business. The marker points to a boat, and I think, "Cool, I'll just hop into whatever hatch is on their and get the shit." Nope, the marker is on the boat controls, not a hatch. And then it dawns on me. This is how you start Far Harbor. Begrudgingly, after spending many real life hours traveling here, I decide to make the trek to Far Harbor, grab the tech, and get back to Boston. So I make the journey, check my map, and....Rayburn Point is on the farthest western part of Far Harbor. Fuck me. I've never played this DLC but I'm guessing it's going to be pretty nasty. I'm debating on whether or not I should even attempt this. In my characters mind, this seems like a suicide mission. The Brotherhood is really gonna send me to a faraway, presumably dangerous, land to recover some tech? It's like they intentionally sent me here knowing I was some wasteland scrub who is gonna get murdered here. I'm gonna attempt this, boys. I'm not gonna do the DLC yet, I'm sneaking my ass across Far Harbor to grab this tech and then I'm sneaking out. If it proves to difficult, fuck the Brotherhood for sending me to do this. I'm going Institute again. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:19 PM PDT So I finally achieved the Benevolent Leader achievement on Steam, and I have to say that it took way longer than I thought it would. So I thought I'd briefly break down how I did it in case it helps someone else. I set up my settlement at the Red Rocket outside Sanctuary, because it's small and manageable, but it would also take less effort to fill the size meter. Then, I made sure that I had no more than six settlers at the Red Rocket. One tended the crops, while the other five managed stores. Following a suggestion from another player, I made all my stores medical centers, eventually upgrading to level three. When my happiness level peaked at 86%, I installed a sixth Med Center and had the other settler manage it. When this only took my happiness up a few points, I had a Provisioner tend the crops until the happiness meter changed, then when it stopped again, gave them another Med Center. When my happiness meter hit a hundred, I had nine level three med centers. Pretty much all of the settlements I had ran supply lines to the Red Rocket, which I thought was pretty funny, since Red Rocket was essentially now supplying pharmaceuticals to half the Commonwealth. Anyway, that's my story. I hope anyone else trying for this achievement finds it useful. [link] [comments] |
My biggest question about far harbor. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 03:50 PM PDT SPOILERS So I convinced DiMA to turn himself in, but I want all 3 factions to survive. Is there any way I can do this? How? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2018 10:33 AM PDT Audio Link I had to cut out some of the recording as it contained some personal information. This is just the part where she tells me there aren't any more BETA codes. Images of Receipt I had to hide some personal information. This is to show the BETA code isn't on the receipt. A while ago I pre-ordered Fallout 76 and my BETA code wasn't on my receipt, so I posted on here asking for help and someone gave me a code that their friend working at Gamestop printed out (not going to say who, so he doesn't get millions of requests for a code.) One of my friends wanted to try Fallout 76 but wasn't sure if he was going to like it so I called Gamestop to get my BETA code to give to him. After waiting on hold for a while someone connected, I told her that I didn't get my BETA code on the receipt, etc, and she had to put me on hold for a couple of minutes. When she came back, she said Gamestop doesn't have any more BETA codes, and that I should ask the Gamestop I bought it from for one. Can anyone else confirm this? Is Gamestop out of codes or did the person I talked to not know what she was doing? If they are out, can this be classified as false advertising? [link] [comments] |
Trying to run fallout 3 on windows 10 Posted: 14 Aug 2018 02:56 PM PDT So I buy fallout 3 goty on sale and I'm really excited to play it because I've not been able to for like 2-3 years, I then click download and steam tells me that this is going to take 7 damn hours to download so I impatiently wait. 7 hours later I wake up my computer and it's finally done so I get comfy and sit down to play it when I'm told I need to optimise it or something. And I'm really confused on how I could flat f1 and f2 without any trouble but the f3 takes me like 3 more hours to set up. So after about 1 hour I look up what to do and it tells me I need to download windows live then another thing that I read after I spend 20 mins downloading it tells me to uninstall it (obviously that didn't work and ended up with me spending another 20 minutes re downloading it) then eventually after searching google I find the answer and can finally play one of my favourite games again at least 3 times before 76 comes out. Posted: 14 Aug 2018 07:16 AM PDT I have been game mastering a fallout pen and paper rpg for awhile now and, to be honest I've run out of ideas. Its set in California, in between fallout 1 and 2 which, while I've never played them, I've watched enough stuff about them to know the plot. If anyone has an idea for a, "Fallout" adventure, please, speak up. [link] [comments] |

Fallout 3 how to start The Pitt Posted: 14 Aug 2018 06:40 AM PDT Hi. Today I completed fallout 3 (base game without any dlc). Then I bought The Pitt dlc (only The Pitt, not any other). So my question is, how do I start this? I read online that you have to wait for a radio distress signal, but mine isn't appearing. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2018 06:52 AM PDT Long story short. In my previous playthrough i was looking up certain locations so i didn't miss anything before heading to the next, One of them mentioned that Curie would comment on a nearby accident/suicide involving a couple or something like that? I can't for my life remember where it was but since i missed it the last time due to a firefight i would like to find it this time around but i also do not feel like looking up every location again. Any idea? It was not the car tree camp site or w/e it is called in the north but could be around the north area? [link] [comments] |
