Calibrated 600, just won my 3k game. I know these get old, but thank you guys! Posted: 21 May 2017 06:56 PM PDT It's awesome to come here and see the good side of the dota community. One you you guys critiqued my Axe replay, and I just rode him through to 3k.Can't wait to do the journey to 4k with y'all! [link] [comments] |
How do I ward against Night Stalker? Is there some sort of trick? Posted: 21 May 2017 02:36 PM PDT I've been playing for a while now, and I've had my fair share of hasty reactions to heroes, screaming in my head "this is fucking OP bullshit." I've learned how to deal with PA, with Axe, with Tinker, with whoever. But there are two heroes that still piss me off: Invoker and Night Stalker. Invoker is mainly for his early game dominance, of course you can shut him down later with a BKB. Night Stalker, though... Darkness seems to make your wards absolutely worthless, and as the game progresses, this gets worse since his ult has virtually no cooldown. He is capable of deleting vision, a key element of Dota. What in the fuck are you supposed to do against this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 May 2017 05:16 PM PDT I could really use some help here. There are times I am having these weird Blinks. Sometimes it could be me moving through the map, and then noticing I actually am blinking back instead of forward. Or it could be moments in a hectic fight that I decide to Blink away on heroes like QoP and AM, but instead just Blink in place. These are very annoying and game losing. Can someone give me an explanation on why this happens? [link] [comments] |
Can someone give some hints on the compendium quest of the 12 auras? Posted: 21 May 2017 02:58 PM PDT Whats the best method/set of heroes to achieve it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 May 2017 12:45 PM PDT Even when I'm winning, I feel like sometimes I lose the game because I don't know who to focus, or where to be, hitting from behind, or tanking... how do I get better at it? [link] [comments] |
How do I harass Necrophos/Abaddon/other strong laners in a dual safe lane as support? Posted: 21 May 2017 06:49 AM PDT With these heroes, no matter how strong of a zoner I pick, I always feel like I'm useless against them. And because everyone in this game knows they are the best player in world, my teammates want to pick junglers instead of help in my lane. What am I supposed to do against these heroes who will absolutely out trade me? I've gotten double killed by a solo Abaddon before, and necro just never dies. If I leave the lane so it's 1v1, the carry can at least get good xp but they will usually get out farmed. If I stay in lane, I take up some xp but don't do a lot in return. [link] [comments] |
Won midlane. Is there a rule for what to do next? Posted: 21 May 2017 04:58 PM PDT Suppose I managed to get 1-2 kills and take t1. It might be 10-15 min. Diving into enemy side usually is dangerous. But once the t1 has fallen enemy midlaner can freefarm under t2. I got thinking about this after my last game, I was ld vs invoker. Once I got t1 I wasn't sure what to do next. [link] [comments] |
What to do as squishy heroes vs PA? Posted: 21 May 2017 02:49 AM PDT I just played a game as lion that was getting shut out by a good PA player. She would never initiate, but wait for the team to initiate. I was playing lion. Most of the fights she would wait until our disables were down. Before she got BKB I was sometimes leaving my hex or spikes in case she jumped in, leading to a lack of disable in the fight. The worst part was twice she one shotted me at full HP with her dagger. After she got BKB, she was unstoppable to us. [link] [comments] |
How does Earth Shaker offlane work? Posted: 21 May 2017 12:54 PM PDT I play dota on and off a lot (Go back and forth between playing dota and league) So I miss a lot of the meta changes and such. One of the things that's strange to me is Earth Shaker being mainly played in the offlane. I can see his main strength is being his short W CD synergy with his E for frequent stuns and damage. Is that enough for him to be able to secure farm? What stops him from being poked out by ranged supports or carries? [link] [comments] |
Discussion - My take on the best approach to Venomancer Posted: 21 May 2017 02:39 AM PDT Venomancer is always an interesting hero to me. Not a right clicker, not a traditional support, he whittles the enemy team down and while ranged, he doesn't mind sacrificing himself for the team as all others die of poison. There appear to be a couple of builds I see for Venomancer regularly:
Here's my challenge to these builds I came up with. Instead of focusing on Nova, I suggest focusing on the wards themselves and capitalizing on Venomancer's strong late-game talent, thus making a deadly trench. Let's call it Trenchmancer.
Since all those items are rather expensive and we have a goal of reaching the lvl 25, Midas seems to help. Especially now since camps are 1 minute spawn again, it means you literally don't have to move from your spot and could farm from the 2 camp shrines. An example build would therefore be something along the lines of:
The only dilemma I seem to have is whether you should jungle or take either the offlane or the mid lane, but to be honest I have little Venomancer experience in those lanes to get a good comparison. What do you think of think, guys? Am I on the right track or am I overrating the wards and one of the more establishes approaches are superior? Why? Thanks for your input. [link] [comments] |
Will this playstyle work in higher MMR avg games? Hero in question: Zeus. Posted: 21 May 2017 10:06 AM PDT Match ID: 3193635778 Dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3193635778 Basically, my build is 2x Clarity into Bottle, then Aether, Blink, Euls into Aghs BoTs Bloodstone Octarine. Later I get Refresher/Eblade/Hex, but most games with this build haven't gone that long. I get the MS talent and usually Arc Lightning and Cast Range. Level 15 depends on the game. I spend most of the game split pushing or farming and don't show up to a ton of fights, but I still end up with the highest hero damage in the game. Sometimes I feel like my impact is negligible, but I'm on a pretty good winstreak since I've started playing this way. Maybe I'm also not realizing how many fights I initiate, or missing something like that in my self analysis. Please look at the replay before making specific gameplay comments, but any general ideas about this build/play style are more than welcome. I don't know if I'm just getting lucky or if I'm actually any better than my opponents. My Dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/100914503 [link] [comments] |

At what MMR people start having some sense on roles and picks? Posted: 21 May 2017 09:38 AM PDT I'm a 2k support player, who likes to learn and study the game. So it really tilts me when I queue up with some random guy who thinks jungle spectre is a good idea, or first picks mid and gets immediatly countered. Posted: 21 May 2017 09:53 AM PDT Right now, I have a 57% radiant win rate and a 36% win rate for dire. Is this just mental? And how can I avoid this? I don't know what's causing it. [link] [comments] |
Any tips for a 1k scrublord with 37% WR in Ranked? Posted: 21 May 2017 03:33 AM PDT Yeah, so my first Dota 2 match was in December 2015 (on another account), but I started playing it more during the year 2016. I was mainly playing Unranked with my friend who's 3k and got all the basics from him. Then I started playing Ranked relatively recently and got 1.3k MMR. I fully understand that I'm not that good of a player and thought maybe someone could give me any tips. Here's my dutabuff if it helps in any way https://www.dotabuff.com/players/127002369 [link] [comments] |

Anyone else finding the new changes to mid to be broken for everyone else? Posted: 21 May 2017 08:04 AM PDT Like I'm level 11 and our mid is 16 and the enemy mid is like 17. WTF??? It's basically win mid and snowball 5 man with your team and every other role has so much less impact now, its pretty lame [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 May 2017 01:51 AM PDT So I quit the game about a year ago because I'd end up getting frustrated but now a lot of my friends are playing dota and I want to try again. Which heroes are good in the current patch? What are the big changes I need to know? https://www.dotabuff.com/players/146007471 Any hero recommendations based on my dotabuff? Thanks! Need help on improving my hard support & solo offlaner. Posted: 21 May 2017 07:16 AM PDT Hi, I have been playing for a year now, I am coming back after few months break. I am currently playing unranked games and I am in somewhat weird situation. Back when I starts this game, my solo queues games usually around 1.2k - 1.6k mmr (Not accurate as this is calculated by opendota, its only take few players that shows their mmr). Currently, I am playing against around maybe 2.2k (Again from opendota). Back when I used to play, opponent laners let me right click them while they are focusing on last hit, but currently harassment is hard. And I usually get out of position when I harass, thus I usually ends up feeding first blood. I am also cant get lv6 by the 10 minutes marks. So far, I think there are fews games that arent shy from solo offlaner. Back when I starts playing, nobody even dare to solo at offlane. Currently, I been play few games where where the draft consists of solo offlaners. I also did play some games as solo offlaner, although my results isn't very good. Of course, my winrate for the last 20 games starts dropping. I feel that I am draging my team down. I think I should relearn the games and starts spamming several heros only. tldr -> So here's some of my few question: Hard Support: I am going to spam Lich, Warlock & Skywrath Mage.
Solo Offlaner: I am going to pick Tidehunter if I get to play this role.
Sorry for my bad English. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

How could i have won this game Posted: 21 May 2017 05:23 AM PDT 3194851550 am game, felt like splitpushing would have won me this game as well as trying to snowball after my early kills, but i don't know what to do much (due to me being new and such, not even ranked yet) [link] [comments] |
What to do with a mid advantage post-laning as OD Posted: 20 May 2017 09:38 PM PDT Hey guys, 1k here I've been playing mid a lot recently and I generally succeed in the laning stage; either in killing my opposing midlaner or out-levelling them through CS (though we're both pretty shit so that's not really saying much). However, it seems like no matter how well I do in laning, I can't seem to pull it together mid-game to win. I feel unsure about what I'm supposed to do afterwards; be it pushing, farming, ganking, or whatever. What should be my goals after laning in order to clinch the game with the advantage I get? tl:dr How do I translate a win in midlane to a win overall past laning stage. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 May 2017 08:37 PM PDT So, I have this problem with tilting myself. I always remind myself of my mistakes constantly and blame myself completely for every loss. It results in me tilting myself and passing wins off as me being carried. I feel like it really stumps my growth as a player, so I was wondering if anyone has advice for me to stop it or at least do it less. I'm 2.4k if that makes any difference. [link] [comments] |
