Diablo - Diablo series on Netflix?

Diablo series on Netflix?

If the Season 15 theme was "of Kanai" and granted a fourth cube slot, what class/build would suddenly dominate?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 10:21 AM PDT

For the sake of argument let's assume the fourth slot could be used for any legendary affix: weapon, armor or jewellery.

Fleshdoom - Diablo Deleted Quest (one of the long ones that didn't make the cut)

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 09:33 AM PDT

how did the nephelim from diablo 1 survive the soulstone impaling in his head?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 07:38 AM PDT

Is this ever explained? I tried looking at the wiki and found nothing or I was looking at the wrong place. The soulstone was massive and he jammed it right into his frontal lobe. Was it just "the power of the soulstone" that kept him alive? if that's so, how did the previous owner survive it? (the cinematic from the first diablo shows the hero take the shard and as you hold it you can see the previous owner moving around with a gaping hole in his head)

So what happened to the characters from Diablo 2?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 11:09 AM PDT

I'm talking about the Barbarian, Sorceress, Paladin, Necromancer--- etc.

They were all strong enough to defeat Mephisto, Diablo, Baal, and all other sorts of demons and such.

How the f*ck did they disappear and not show up at all in Diablo 3? You would think they would have a massive influence in the outside world after what they did... powerful enough to become kings, queens, whatever.

So with the D4 rumors heating up... what kind of classes do you want to see?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 02:33 PM PDT

With a new Diablo game comes a new set of classes.

What kinds of new classes do you want to see? Which returning ones?

Preferred version for Diablo II?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 11:56 AM PDT

Basically just wondering if there is a preferred way to play Diablo II. I was looking at picking it up on battlenet since I lost my old CD-ROM copy. Is there any downside to that? Are there separate servers for online or are they all under the battlenet classic umbrella? Thanks.

Diablo 3 Switch Release Date

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 02:38 PM PDT

Has anybody noticed on Target's website it shows 11/02 for Diablo 3 for Switch? That's an odd date for a placeholder so could that be the release date?

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it...

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 04:06 PM PDT

TDLR -

When I imagine Diablo series, I picture a dark, gritty, realistic, gothic fantasy game with action and role-playing elements. I imagine a game where I level my character, my skills and collect better items, where these actions have permanent consequences on my character. Where I can interact with other players in meaningful ways like trading items or killing them.

So this is my list for what Diablo 4 should have upon release.

What is your list for the things you want in Diablo 4?

--

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have dark, gritty and gothic environments (including characters).

"but too much dark means I have to strain my eyes to see"

The environments don't all have to be darkly lit all the time. In D2, Acts 2 and 5 were using brighter lighting, but they still felt dark and gritty. The aesthetics of the buildings and weapons were gothic.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have a dark and serious tone.

So the lighter colour palette in certain areas of Diablo 2 still felt dark and serious. Why is that?

In Diablo 3, the NPCs make jokes and make light of serious issues "i feel crispy on the edges", which while it's humourous, takes away from the game's vibe.

And D3's overall game's artstyle, was cartoony and painterly. It looked gorgeous when you really stopped and looked at it. But it was not the right artstyle for a Diablo game.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it has cartoony and painterly artstyle (which is currently the typical Blizzard artstyle).

Diablo 4 should have a realistic art style that is down to earth in its theme.

It should have realistic armour and weapons, that are gothic, with earthy colours.

The weapon should behave realistically.

A sword should give me more range than a dagger and less than a spear.

A weapon should make the monster bleed. Cold should slow it. Fire should spread to nearby monsters. Lightning should stun it.

And Diablo 4 should have less flashy spell effects.

When you make spells really flashy, it works counter to the game's theme, which is supposed dark, realistic fantasy. Super flashy spells aren't realistic and so they take away from the gam'e vibe.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have 8+ player support.

There is no reason to lower the player count to 4 and increase spell graphics.

When you make spells flashy you put too much strain on the graphics card and put too much clutter on the screen, so you can't have many players on the screen at once otherwise the whole screen will be littered with spells and no one can see anything.

Which is even true now with 4 players. So spell flashiness has to be seriously toned down.

And when you have spells that are really colourful, like bright pink lightning, it just looks dumb in a game that is supposed to be a dark fantasy game. So keep the spell colours appropriate to the theme of the game.

In general, bright pink and purple colours do not belong in dark, gothic games.

When you take pink and purple and you add them to a dark game, it generally evokes an other-worldly response. Which Super Contra used to great effect in its last level, where it uses purples to give the feeling of an alien world.

But when you add it to a game that is gothic, it just feels out of place. So leave pink and purple out of Diablo 4, unless you find a way for it to complement the gothic theme, while minimizing the "sci-fi alien world" feel of the colours.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have proper corpses for Necromancer and other Classes.

First of all, all 7 of Diablo 2's classes or (similar 7 classes like Witch Doctor and Monk) should be in Diablo 4 from the start.

So it should have 7 classes.

When you have to do less work on spell graphics, you can allot that time to creating more spells for more classes.

Secondly, have the monster generate a real corpse and keep the monster's corpse at the place where it died.

D3 had monster death animations with corpses flying off or exploding into smithereens with pretty much all spells, which meant that you could not have real and "interactive" corpses in the game.

In D4 -

The only time a corpse should explode is if a Necromancer casts corpse explosion.

The only time a corpse should move is if a Witch Doctor raises it.

The only time a corpse should fly offscreen is if a Barbarian picks it up and throws it.

A corpse that was there before but is no longer there has consequences for how the Necromancer plays.

Consequences are a good thing in Diablo.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have permanent choices and consequences with its skills.

It's great to be able to swap skills and gear on the go but it takes away from character building.

The game needs to have permanent consequences for your actions. That's what role-playing games are all about. Things have consequences. If you invest in fireball, you will be weaker in lightning.

You don't have to do this system via a point system.

You can do it with experience. So the more you play with that skill, the more it levels up and gets stronger.

Which means you cannot and should not leave skill damage entirely to weapon damage.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it ties most of the player's damage to weapon damage.

Your weapon should be important and it should increase damage but damage should also come from your skills.

A Whirlwind Barbarian who has no weapon can still fling his fists and beat the shit out of you. So he should deal some damage from the skill itself. His weapon should add to that damage and make it stronger and give it certain effects.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have a balance between Rares, Sets and Uniques.

Originally in Diablo 2, you could build an endgame character with just really good Rares.

LoD threw off that balance.

That balance should return for Diablo 4. I am tired of always have to seek the next legendary (Unique) and tired of being trapped in Set builds.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have free trade.

Most people are going to disagree with me when I say that I didn't mind the auction house.

Although the auction house had many downsides, it allowed for easy trading via the gold currency. You traded your item for gold and then used that gold to get a better item.

One big downside of the auction house was that it cut out player progression. You could advance the game by just buying the items or flipping them and then you felt like you were playing the auction house more than the game. And when you played the game you felt like you were done because the whole point of Diablo is to get better and better items.

If you remove the auction house but keep trading. You will run into a similar issue but on 3rd party sites instead.

This issue needs to be addressed through in-game mechanics.

So if you keep open trading in the game then you must shift the progression to experience.

But paragon system has not been a good way to doing progression through experience. Diablo 2 with its near-impossible lvl99 cap had a better progression system.

We can go one step further with this. Progression through experience can also come from the system which I proposed earlier, where you level up your skills by using them and collecting experience.

I am not buying Diablo 4 if it doesn't have Pvp.

I enjoy Pvp in video-games, and while D3 had some pvp, it was really lacking. You could tell that the game was not designed with Pvp in mind.

Diablo 4 needs to design the game with Pvp in mind. Of course, the Pvm component is more important than Pvp but Pvp should not be ignored until after the game has been developed.

Pvp should be meshed into the game itself, into the environments, into the character-building components.

It should be possible to fight other players in an area filled with dangerous monsters.

It is quite possible to do this, as other games have done it before.

Is firebird archon still one of the best builds?

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 02:49 AM PDT

Hello everyone, i just got back into diablo and i used to use the firebird archon build for my wizard, it used to be really fun but people say there is a better meteor build that doesnt seems as fun as the archon, so is the build still good enough to collect items for?
