The team has been hard at work the last few months improving their toolsets to watch over Destiny 2. They have some important information to share on how we're improving your search for Glory in the Competitive playlist.

Security Team: Throughout Season 3, we've been working on improvements to our systems that identify players who may be tampering with their connection to Crucible matches or breaking the Terms of Service for Destiny 2. We have some news to share, but first a point of clarification…

We have received reports from players who have been using bungie.net or other third-party websites to attempt to identify wrongdoers. We want to clarify that our internal tools have much more detail, which players do not have access to. For example, a player who returns to orbit or switches their character will show as did not finish on a third-party website, while our internal tools have much more detail on the reason they left the match. This helps to ensure that we do not hand out restrictions when opponents are disconnecting due to temporary networking or ISP issues or opponents leaving of their own accord.

Using this data—and working with the PvP team directly—we've recently updated our detection and analysis tools and re-checked the previous four months of matches from the Competitive playlist.

Effective September 4, 2018, we will apply more restrictions and bans to player accounts that benefitted from opponent disconnects at a highly abnormal frequency throughout Season 3 with our improved detection methods. This will include "voluntary" disconnects when players are repeatedly matching against the same opponents.

We are also updating our Account Restrictions and Banning Policies to detail the potential forms of punishment.

  • Depending on the severity of infractions, players may receive Crucible restrictions and bans.

    • This will remove access to pinnacle Crucible rewards, such as Redrix's Claymore, Redrix's Broadsword, and Luna's Howl, and any pinnacle Crucible rewards released in the future.
  • For the most severe infractions, players may permanently lose access to all Destiny 2 activities, including PvE.

As we begin to apply this moderation, we will be crosschecking matches to ensure the proper levels of punishment are applied.

We'll continue to apply and revise our detections throughout Season 4 and beyond.

If you believe you've encountered a player who is breaking the terms of service, please see Report Suspected Cheating on help.bungie.net. This page details all available forms of reporting to Bungie for the platform on which you play.

As a final note, thanks to everyone who plays Destiny 2 legitimately. We appreciate the time you invest in our game, and we're working hard to ensure everyone has a good experience when rightly earning their rewards.

Pardon Our Dust

Since the Year 2 deployment on Tuesday, we've seen reports that matchmaking time in the Crucible may be taking longer than usual. While no deliberate changes to matchmaking were deployed in Update 2.0, we have been investigating this issue.

We are planning to deploy a fix that we hope will increase the speed of matchmaking queues. As our investigation continues, please stay tuned to @BungieHelp for updates on our progress.

Upon the launch of Forsaken, skill matching will work in the same manner it has in recent weeks (i.e., no skill-based matchmaking). In the near future, we will preview any planned improvements to matchmaking in Crucible Labs first, so we can tune that experience collaboratively. As always, our commitment remains to communicate all changes to the competitive ecosystem in advance right here on bungie.net.

Thanks for playing!

As we said last week, things are a little weird right now. Player Support has been on the front lines, troubleshooting issue reports and identifying workarounds for some of the oddities you might be seeing since the release of Update 2.0.0.

This is their report:

Destiny 2 Hotfix 2.0.0.1

On Tuesday, September 4, Destiny 2 will undergo maintenance to receive Update 2.0.0.1. The conclusion of this maintenance will mark the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken, and this hotfix will be required to log in and play. For the Hotfix 2.0.0.1 deployment schedule, please see the times listed below.

On Tuesday, September 4:

  • 7:00 AM PDT: Players will no longer be able to log in to Destiny 2. Players leaving activities will be returned to the title screen. Hotfix 2.0.0.1 will begin rolling out across all platforms and regions.
  • 7:30 AM PDT: Destiny 2 will be taken offline for maintenance, and all remaining players will be returned to the title screen.
  • 7:30–10:00 AM PDT: Destiny 2 will remain offline for maintenance.
  • 10:00 AM PDT: Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude, and Destiny 2: Forsaken will become available to play on all platforms.

For Hotfix 2.0.0.1 patch notes on September 4, players should keep an eye on our Updates page or follow @Bungie on Twitter for live announcements.

Destiny 2 Update 2.0.0 Known Issues

Over the past few weeks, we have warned players that the weeklong transition between August 28 and September 4 may be a rocky one. In direct response to player reports on our #Help forum, we have listed below some of the known and emergent issues we've tracked since the launch of Update 2.0.0. Please be aware that not all of the issues below will be resolved in Hotfix 2.0.0.1.

  • We are aware of an issue impacting players' ability to obtain specific loot from the Nightfall strike "Strange Terrain." This issue should be resolved on September 4 with Update 2.0.0.1.
  • The XP bar is not showing XP gains for players at the level cap. This is a UI issue, and all players will continue to earn XP and Bright Engrams at their expected rates. This issue is expected to be resolved on September 4 with Hotfix 2.0.0.1.
  • We are currently investigating an issue that causes the precision multiplier for some weapons with explosive rounds to be incorrectly capped, making them deal less total damage than intended.
  • We are investigating reports of issues impacting sandbox gameplay, including Hand Cannon recoil on PC and aiming down sights not cancelling properly.
  • Some Year 2 Forsaken weapons and armor may drop prematurely from world loot sources. Items awarded to players early may see minor changes following Hotfix 2.0.0.1 and the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken on September 4.
  • Some objectives that require Heroic strikes will not be achievable until Hotfix 2.0.0.1 on September 4.
  • Players who still have the "Spicy Ramen" quest will not be able to complete it because the ramen shop is no longer distributing expired coupons.

For the full list of known issues, as well as possible mitigation steps, players should see our Update 2.0.0 Known Issues list.

Gear Infusion and Level Requirements

Once Destiny 2: Forsaken is live on September 4, players may begin increasing their Power and character level beyond their Year 1 limits. As with all increases to player Power in Destiny 2, players should be aware that infusing gear with a requirement above their current character level will make the infusion recipient unavailable for use until the player levels up.

For example:

  • A player logs in to Destiny 2: Forsaken on September 4 at character level 30
  • The player receives new gear with a level 31 character requirement
  • The player infuses the new gear into their favorite Year 1 gear
  • This Year 1 gear is no longer available for use, since it has adopted the level 31 character requirement from its infusion material
  • The player must then increase their character level to 31 to reequip this gear

Players should pay extra attention to the character level requirements on their gear as they climb to max level in Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Mod Changes for All

As a reminder, mod changes will take full effect on September 4 at the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken. Listed below is the full experience that players will encounter once Hotfix 2.0.0.1 becomes available.

  • Year 1 weapons will not accept Year 2 weapon mods

    • Elemental attributes on Year 1 weapons will be locked, and you will no longer be able to change them
    • Some targeted Year 1 Power weapons have had their elemental attributes changed and locked for Year 2
  • Year 1 armor will accept Year 2 armor mods

  • Year 1 Gear will not receive randomized perks

  • All Year 1 mods will be deprecated at the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken on September 4

    • Year 1 mods may safely be dismantled ahead of time in preparation for the Year 2 mod system

Solstice of Heroes T-Shirt Redemption

As of this past Tuesday, Solstice of Heroes and Moments of Triumph have concluded in Destiny 2. Players who achieved 250 Triumph Points or more and redeemed the Triumph Shirt reward in-game are eligible to generate their Solstice of Heroes T-shirt code on their Bungie.net profile until September 12 at 10 AM PDT.

Players who generate their code by this deadline have until September 30 at 11:59 PM PDT to redeem their code at checkout with their shirt order at the Bungie Store. At that time, all remaining T-shirt codes will become invalid, and players may no longer place new Solstice of Heroes T-shirt orders on the Bungie Store.

Next week, we deliver the start of a new year in Destiny 2. This week has been refreshing. We've deployed major system updates for Forsaken and a new season of content. Next week finishes off the implementation of changes not only to address feedback, but also to continue the growth and evolution of Destiny 2 and its universe. We're excited to see you continue your journey, uncover new secrets, and take some of the new weapons in the arsenal for a spin.

When Destiny 2 was first released, new legends rose to the occasion. Who among you will be on the first fireteam to clear the "Last Wish" raid? To reach maximum Glory in Competitive Crucible in Season 4? To earn the "Chronicler" seal for completing all Lore Triumphs? Only time will tell, and we'll be celebrating each moment alongside the community.

This next step is a big one. We can't wait to see where the road leads, and we can't thank you enough for being here with us. See you starside.

Cheers,

On people crying for nerfs: Hey Forbes, please STFU

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 09:16 AM PDT

Update

Well, I definitely didn't think this would blow up as much as it did. Paul actually wrote a disclaimer into the article responding to this post. Let me quote it here:

Disclaimer Update: Since everyone is really taking this article the wrong way, I am simply trying to catalog what has seen its strength increase dramatically in the wake of this patch. I am not calling for anything to specifically be nerfed, but rather speculating whether or not Bungie will due to its relative strength, given that at least some of these have been buffed accidentally or without fully realizing the consequences. All of these are super goofy and fun to use right now, sure, but Bungie will probably bring a few back in line for the sake of balance, that's just how it goes. When I say things like "stupid strong" or "absurdly powerful" these are compliments, not insults. And yeah, all of this will probably be shuffled all around after Forsaken launches with new gear/tougher enemies. Please just...chill.

Comments have been pretty divisive in here, and in hindsight the stance I took was a bit reactionary. People who are gathering their torches and pitchforks for a witch hunt of Paul Tassi, please please stop for the love of all that is holy.

First of all no one should have that done to them, secondly this is just a video game and I'm sure Paul is a fantastic person in real life, and thirdly I'm not too small a person to admit that Paul actually did advocate for buffs to D2's sandbox during the Vanilla "dark ages;" he was right there with us scratching his head at a lot of the more questionable design decisions being made by Bungie during that period.

That being said, I want the locus of my post to shine through in full:

Even before the actual Forsaken launch, Update 2.0 constitutes a tremendously positive step forward for Destiny 2. This would not have happened if our community had not been extremely vocal in our disapproval of the state of Destiny 2 circa December 2017. At that point, D2 was simply not on course for the kinds of improvements it now has inbound. We are a fine group of people who have invested a LOT of time and money on Destiny, and it has been a relief to find over the months since that nadir in the franchise' history that Bungie do indeed respect our vision(s) for what the game should be.

I don't want the quality of my favorite game to backslide, again. I hope Paul will forgive me for putting the heat on him, as that's why I spoke out here. Hopefully as a fellow guardian he can understand where I was coming from.

Any opinion-driven speculation around which gear pieces are "too strong," especially when said speculation is not yet informed by the context of Forsaken's full sandbox, is utterly premature right now. I feel quite strongly that "nerf" just needs to be a dirty word for a while.

If there is something that is truly cancerous to the Crucible experience (cough, old Wormhusk, cough), then that needs to be taken care of and it should be called out -- griefing in PvP should always be considered a problem. However, in my experience, that's not what's going on right now. Players are figuring it out, so let's just be patient and explore while the great designers and engineers at Bungie keep their eye on the numbers behind D2's crazy new sandbox.

If you are an influencer with an internet megaphone, writing an article like the one in question here risks sending our community down that old path of complaining about the power of guns and armor that are extremely fun to use right now. Like it or not, journalists sit behind the wheel that steers public opinion. With this post I hoped to nip any such narrative in the bud, not realizing that I would succeed a little too well.

Even if you don't intend it that way as the author...just remember with great power comes great responsibility, and ffs, BE CAREFUL about how you use the "N-word".

Original Post

I've just been reading this Forbes article, Here Are Seven 'Destiny 2' Exotics That Are Stupidly Strong After The Forsaken Patch, by that one Forbes guy who always writes about Destiny.

With this article, he's doing some heavy editorializing on how strong a lot of weapons are post-Update 2.0, essentially advocating for bringing the game back down the nerf-hole literally 2 days after the patch:

On Skull of Ahamkara

Forbes' Opinion

The helmet now gives you a ton of bonus super energy on super kills, meaning that with a big enough mob or a few elites (which give bonus energy above and beyond that), you can instantly refill your super for multiple nova bombs in a row. It really is absurd.

Will it get nerfed?

My initial guess is no, but maybe down the line. They had to change Orpheus Rig, but it took a year for them to do it.

Why they should STFU

What about this is absurd? I think the word you are looking for is fun.

The nerfs to Orpheus Rig (and Raiden Flux) suck, and weren't things that had to change -- especially given that they've changed SoA to be basically as strong as Rigs were, and a lot of the other "return super energy" Forsaken exotics seem like they're going to be similarly powerful.

If anything, I can imagine Bungie restoring the Rigs and Raiden Flux to be as good as they once were; the community already hates that they're weaker and they will now struggle against other similar options both for Hunters and for other subclasses.

I get that Bungie are trying to funnel us into using other things -- but once we've all discovered the value of both new Exotics and newly-buffed preexisting Exotics, veteran players are going to want the old mainstays to make a return to being competitive once again.

On Telesto

Forbes' Opinion

...Telesto is an absolute monster, still hitting with power weapon power, but because there's more ammo available, you can practically use the damn thing like a primary. Also, because of its signature perk where multikills with it refill your energy weapon, it now refills itself because it's now in that slot.

Will it get nerfed?

I think they're going to make it an "exception" like DARCI and Acrius and move it back to the power slot. Possibly when Forsaken hits.

Why they should STFU

I don't think I need to explain too much why this is a terrible idea. We fucking LOVE Telesto; so what if it reloads on multikills? This is not really any better than Telesto was in D1 as far as PvP is concerned, and it's certainly not good enough in PvE to preclude all other options. I mean, it's a fucking add clear weapon; so is Graviton Lance, so is Sunshot. Hell if you want to use Whisper for DPS then Telesto isn't even a thing. Why are we nerfing it again?

On Whisper of the Worm

Forbes' Opinion

Whisper of the Worm was already one of the strongest weapons in the game

Will it get nerfed?

At the very least, Bungie is going to make Box Breathing work properly on it, but it will still be strong.

Why they should STFU

To a degree, I do think Bungie are going to need to do something to get people to use other weapons than Whisper for DPS; however, there is absolutely space for them to introduce other strong Exotics, especially with an expansion entirely centered on strong weapons (The Black Armory) on the way.

My feelings on Whisper are my feelings on every strong PvE exotic weapon in the game: if we want people to explore other DPS options, bring other guns UP to compete with them. All we need are other weapons that also use heavy ammo as efficiently as Whisper does.

Meanwhile, there are enough totally viable options for other slots that you won't exactly be crippled by using something other than Whisper right now, and hey they might just all be a crapload of fun to use!

On Fighting Lion

Forbes' Opinion

Will it get nerfed?

It almost has to, as this is making original Gjallarhorn look tame. At the very least it needs to be using green ammo, not white, but the damage may have be scaled down a bit on all single shot launchers, given the slot they now occupy.

Why they should STFU

Are you seriously comparing FIGHTING FUCKING LION to the ORIGINAL GJALLARHORN??!? Where are all the people exclusively running Fighting Lion, the way Gjallarhorn was?

All I see in PvP is...oh wait, I see a wide variety of weapons. Shotguns are a bit dominant but that's mostly due to vanilla map design and the fact that flinch on Snipers is still kind of an issue. In PvE, once again you have plenty of other options for your Exotic Slot.

It does not "almost have to" get nerfed, not even close to "almost." If anything, maybe let's try buffing other breech-loaded grenade launchers to have similar uptime, an extra round per mag, more damage, or what have you, as Fighting Lion is the only weapon of that category that I want to run atm.

On Insurmountable Skullfort

Forbes' Opinion

The Skullfort is now just absurd in PvP. Shoulder charge is now an automatic one hit kill in Crucible. Skullfort refills your should charge on kill. You can see where this is going. You essentially have unlimited shoulder chargers because of it, turning your giant Titan shoulder pauldrons into one hit kill wrecking balls. It's fun, but it's also a bit broken in PvP.

Will it get nerfed?

Not 100% sure on this one. I think it might, like maybe Skullfort only gives you half your energy back or something on kill, but that would murder it for PvE. But it does feel pretty unsustainable for Crucible.

Why they should STFU

Nono. No. Stop using the word "absurd." Having shoulder charge up all the time is not absurd; it's the D1 gameplay that the community has been clamoring for for the past year. It was "sustained" all throughout that game, and it will continue to be sustainable here -- especially given that in D2 we don't even have a Twilight Garrison to pair up with our infinite shoulder charges.

You can fight against it. Try grabbing literally any special weapon, especially a shotgun. Try watching your damn back. Also Standasides already do give half melee energy back for all shoulder charge abilities so making Skullfort do the same but only for Seismic Strike would be pretty goddamn stupid.

On Coldheart/Prometheus Lens

Forbes' Opinion

Yeah they're different guns, but they've been hit by the same super buff.

Why they should STFU

Changing weapon categories is not really a "super buff." It's recontextualization. These weapons are not "Stupidly Strong." They are appropriately strong for their ammo type given other weapons of the same ammo type against which they must compete.

Why do we already have people getting super vocal about how badly they want to be weaker? Why do you want to be weaker already? Did you not play D2 Vanilla??

This shit gave me heartburn to read. I get that he tried to frame these as "predictions," but the opinion of this article's author is laced throughout.

People read this shit and let their own opinions be influenced by it, and before you know it the community is infected with this bizarre bullshit narrative that Fighting Lion is somehow the new Gjallarhorn (fucking LOL). Can we please hold this up as an example of how NOT to react to the overwhelmingly positive sandbox changes introduced by Update 2.0, especially if you are an online influencer?

All of the stuff that's strong right now feels great to use, and we've been BEGGING Bungie to restore said strength for an entire year now. Now that they've finally done it, can we leave it the fuck alone for a second? The scant few nerfs already present in the update were more than enough.

Since it functions basically identically to how obsidian mind used to work in D1 I figured why not make it look the same as well?

And since shaders can't be applied to anything other than it's non bone parts it doesn't really work with any armor set.

Please stop commenting on the state of meta when we’re only experiencing it with Y1 weapons

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 08:29 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of people saying that the secondaries are too strong, and that we already need changes to the sandbox... We haven't even experienced the full meta. We haven't experienced rangefinder on anything, and we don't know what the new exotics will do in the meta either. So please for the love of the traveler, stop begging for changes. Granted a lot of these posts have been buried and laughed at..

But the "new" section of this sub has been littered with "shotguns are seriously too strong" posts.

Give it time.

The lore tabs of the items Wing Discipline, Wing Theorem and Wing Contender, tell the story of a time when Lord Shaxx lost a Crucible bet to Cayde-6's infamous Golden Gun. As a punishment of that lost bet, Cayde-6 told Lord Shaxx to train a couple of kids and train them in a certain sport to enter a tournament. What was the sport you ask? It was Dodgeball!

The handcannon glitch on PC can be mitigated by double tapping escape. It will reset the recoil to pre-bug levels.

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 05:12 AM PDT

Not seeing this anywhere on reddit but I've seen it floating around in some discords and streams. However, you must double tap escape after every respawn. This is a way to work around the bug a bit until Bungie works it out. You don't have to wait for the escape menu to fully pop up, just double tapping it quickly works. Help spread the good word so we can appreciate handcannons in their glory again.

EDIT: Added a little video to show the difference. Might wanna watch it at 1.25x speed or something since it's longer than I meant it to be.

Not even the official app currently shows you the new ammo types on weapons. But guess what, Ishtar does! This release also brings a new full screen landscape details view. Long press gear, select details at the top, turn your giant phone to landscape and boom! You can also pan left and right through your gear in this view. Please note Bungie are hiding the weapon models for Forsaken gear next week. So if you already got a drop it will just be a black screen for now. This release also fixes a Bungie bug that would alter the order your guardians are shown in.

Reviewing some of the data I'm finding several strikes and patrols that show a maxParty of 6 vs the normal 3. The tower and the farm have always been 6.

For example:

"pgcrImage": "/img/destiny_content/pgcr/patrol_titan.jpg", "matchmaking": { "isMatchmade": false, "minParty": 1, "maxParty": 6, "maxPlayers": 9,

Could Bungie be letting us take our full fireteam down to the planets finally?

With Snipers now being Special weapons again, can we get crits through shields, like in Destiny 1?

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 01:17 AM PDT

In D1, we could crit an enemy through their shield (which did more damage to shield).

Right now you're better off not using any kind of Sniper in the energy slot because taking out an enemy's shield with a sniper is the most tedious and wasteful thing ever, because Snipers don't do shit for damage unless it's a crit, and you can't crit if the enemy is shielded.

This highly affects their PvE potential.

EDIT: Added GIFV version, instead of YT video. Updoot /u/Mblim771_Kyle for the GIFV version!

This is some of the Darkest Lore we’ve ever gotten. SPOILERS

http://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/shadow-on-a-wall

I would recommend reading this single bit of lore, however i wouldn't read too much of the datamined stuff if i were you, but- this one gave me chills. There are some pretty sick guardians out there and I hope we see more of that side of the Light.

This also gets me excited that we may be meeting a certain legendary Gunslinger rather soon.

New Forsaken PS Exclusive Armor, Weapon, Strike Gameplay, and Ship

If a player disconnects from a Strike, it will reserve their spot for 2 minutes.

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 02:32 AM PDT

Had it happen to a friend, checked roster and it had the player shown as "Player Disconnect" in his slot as a reserved space.

Just a heads up Guardians.

Friendly Reminder that the Postmatch Crucible Rewards screen was awesome & should come back w/ Random Rolls

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 09:36 PM PDT

I really loved seeing what everyone got and I feel like that sweet, sweet loot screen did curb quitting somewhat

Many times I'd see someone get a good roll and message them gratz or see an interesting roll and keep my eye out for it so I can try it personally

Guardians grinding the "optimal" way of doing something over and over and over (plus wanting faster abilitiy recharge) is now canon... well done bungie lol

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 01:06 PM PDT

From the "Savin" card, talking about one of the first guardians the Awoken met:

He leapt into space, repeatedly and without reason, as if his death were no more traumatic than a hop off a curb. Obsessed with reward and efficiency, he would rather do one profitable thing a thousand times than waste his efforts on a less beneficial novelty.

Also bonus:

he desired materials and experiences that would temper him into a better Guardian, and he was always experimenting with his strange powers in foolish ways that left him briefly dead, seeking "a new Super ability" or "some way to make my grenades faster.

Personally, I love Bungie canonizing our in-game behaviors. It's a funny way of seeing that they do acknowledge our in-game craziness.

Healing Rift out-heals the Injection Rig evacuation burning phase.

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 05:47 AM PDT

Title.

As long as you remain in the rift and pop it before you get swarmed by enemies, you can out heal the burn.

Here's to all those Solo Warlocks out there!

Edit/Clarification: I know you could survive while the rift is active from vanilla. Your health would though slowly go down bit by bit. Now you can actually gain more and get to the over shield.

State of The Subreddit: Forsaken Hype Edition [2018/08/30]

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 06:33 AM PDT

Hello Guardians,

We're closing in on the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken. Its an exciting time for the community with plenty to discuss and explore together.

As always, the mod team wanted to lay out the plans for the subreddit in the runup to the launch as well as other housekeeping issues that have cropped up since the last SoTS in April.

r/DestinyTheGame - Forsaken Launch Plans and Spoilers

We are committed to trying to find a balance on this subreddit to help our users who play at a slower pace to avoid spoilers while also facilitating places for other users to post new info asap. Finding that balance can be hard, and we understand it can be frustrating, so we're planning the below steps to ensure the vast majority of our subs users can have an exciting launch.

  • Destiny 2 will undergo maintenance at 07:00 PDT (14:00 UTC)
    • A maintenance thread will be provided on the subreddit during this time.
    • Maintenance is scheduled to end at 10:00 PDT (17:00 UTC).
  • The subreddit will be locked a few hours before Forsaken's launch. This is to keep the standard of content as high as possible.
    • After the launch, the sub will continue to be locked for a further hour before new posts are enabled again.
    • Once the sub is unlocked, there will remain a strict enforcement of Rule 2 to maintain a high standard of content.
  • There will be a Story/Lore Megathread in place for 48 hours from launch.
    • Anything that could be considered a post which would spoil something for a player who has not progressed as far as you will go here. (Efforts will be made to keep this thread visible during this period).
    • If any secrets are found during this period that warrant their own Megathread, one will be provided.
    • High-quality guides and SGA posts are allowed outside of the Story/Lore Megathread, provided they have spoiler tags where apropriate.
    • After that 48 hour period, the usual rule regarding posting spoilers will still be in effect (ensure your Post Titles are spoiler free and tagged appropriately where relevant).
  • There will be a Raid Megathread in place for 24 hours from when the Raid launches.
    • Anything from the Raid, be it spoilers, tactics, loot, Boss names, lore etc. will be directed to this thread.
    • After that 24 hour period, the usual rule regarding spoilers will be in effect with regards to posts about the Raid (again, ensure your Post Titles are spoiler free and tagged appropriately where relevant).
  • As a reminder, our spoilers policy will remain in effect for around 2 weeks after the launch of Forsaken.
    • Spoilers are allowed on the subreddit. However, Posts containing spoilers must be tagged appropriately (eg: [Spoilers] or CSS spoiler system).
    • Spoilers are not allowed in post titles.
    • Furthermore, titles should not be used as clickbait. (i.e. no titles like "My reaction when...")
    • Promotional material released by Bungie does not require spoiler tags 24 hours after its publication.
    • Spoiler tags should not be used inappropriately. Use of the spoiler tag for the sole purpose of gaining attention/clickbait for a post can result in post removal.
    • We would like to remind users that they can choose to see all spoilers by using either the reddit redesign or the mobile app which does not hide spoilers.
    • The mod team will announce when the enforcement of the spoilers policy on Forsaken content has been lifted.
  • Loot Hub Returns!
    • With the reintroduction of random rolls to Destiny, the Weekly Loot Hub Megathread will be returning to /r/DestinyTheGame
    • Along with the Megathread comes the reinforcement a section of Rule 2: "No Loot Posts"
    • The mod team may show some leniency as the community will no doubt be excited by new god rolls to chase, but all posts pertaining to specific loot drops and specific random rolls will be directed to the Weekly Loot Hub.

We hope this is the balanced compromise you can all appreciate. So if you're speed running, or unable to play Day 1, you should be able to visit this sub and do all the things you know and love.

Generic Posts Regarding Cheating in Destiny 2

This subreddit enforces a strict rule against witchhunting, the process of publicly shaming somebody with claims of cheating or grievous behaviour as demonstrated through video/photo evidence or game history. This is done to avoid a trial by public opinion on users on the subreddit and is worth reiterating as we head into a new content launch.

In a related fashion, the mod team has been removing generic, non-specific posts regarding cheating in Destiny 2 over the past few months. This decision was taken due to the repetitive nature of the posts, along with seeing little to no development in the content of the conversation they generated as well as a lack of direct response from Bungie. These posts, whose titles might include "I just got DDOS'd in trials!", currently, serve as a means of karma farming for the poster with no eventual resolution to the discussion raised. This action falls under our previous discussions of rules regarding Trials, cheating and lag which you can read here.

We are certain that Bungie has seen this as a topic of community concern and frustration. The mod team feels that more posts on this topic will not enhance the user experience on r/DestinyTheGame nor will it advance the discussion further.

Posts regarding specific instances of cheating will continue to be removed from the subreddit under witchhunting rules. It is recommended that you report suspected cheaters to Bungie directly.

User Flairs

AKA how to look frabjous.

Over the past few months, the mod team has been adding new user flairs to the subreddit's selection. More have just been added ahead of Forsaken's launch so you might want to check out the new selection. To do so, head on over to https://destinyreddit.com/flair, login with your reddit account and choose the flair you want!

These flairs are not supported on the new redesign (either opt out or use old.reddit.com). Image flairs do not show up on mobile, but text flair does. Thus we give you the option to customize both for the subreddit.

We wanted to say thank you to the community as the majority of our new flair additions have come from user submitted images via our modmail!

A special thank you goes out to u/Glamdring804 for all of the work he has done in submitting new user fairs for the subreddit!

If you want to suggest a flair to be added you may send us a modmail and request one be added. Please note the following:

  1. The flair must be directly related to Destiny or the subreddit.
  2. If you can provide an image, that would be helpful. If you can provide an image that is 76px by 76px that would be even more helpful.

Search filters on r/DestinyTheGame

We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight the use of the filtered search options on the subreddit. Not only can this be of use to subreddit veterans in tracking down old posts but it can also help returning guardians answer questions or find information faster. At the moment, this feature is only supported on old.reddit.com and is not supported on the redesign.

On Desktop, if you click the filter icon next to the search bar, a dropdown menu will appear. Select the type of post you are looking for under FILTERS. This will bring up a search with the specified flair already included in the search parameters. You can add in more words to your search and adjust the time period being searched over (by default, its set to the past 24 hours).

In addition, the filters system can be used to exclude certain types of posts from the subreddit. Simply select flairs under the Exclusion Zone Filters to remove such posts from your browsing experience.

We hope explaining how to use this feature will better equip users as we all head into a period that is bound to be a fast-moving post environment!

Reddit Redesign and /r/DestinyTheGame

The mod team has discussed the subreddit's stance on the new redesign in comments but it's worth repeating, especially when outlining subreddit features that are not supported on the redesign.

r/DestinyTheGame will not be supporting the reddit redesign at this time. The mod team wants to wait for the final release of the redesign before investing time in working on supported subreddit features.

That about wraps up everything we wanted to talk about. As always, if you have any feedback, questions, comments or concerns you are welcome to voice them in a civil manner in the comments below or you can send us a modmail.

We now return to your regularly scheduled hype!

Regards,

Your r/DestinyTheGame mod team.

Tether still doesn't catch enemies quickly like it should

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 06:42 AM PDT

I don't have the clip, but was playing last night on Alter of Flame. I was on B, heard a Arc staff Hunter super activate, tethered right beside the right doorway, guy jumped up and still ran in and got me at the back of B before being tethered. Gonna assume this just isn't fixable for Bungie. If the answer is to "tether faster" than what I did, I give up. It was literally on the ground before the guy was even in sight. Guess it's a tough bug to fix? Hopefully new supers will be better options.

[Spoiler] All Forsaken Lore So Far - All Stories in Chronological Order with Summaries

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 12:10 PM PDT

Intro

There have been a lot of stories recently on the subreddit and I've decided to put them all in order so you can discuss them with some more insight. Each section should be in chronological order, the Mara/Eris stories are well worth the read and a lot of the exotics have nice little side notes like the Ace of Spades. Cayde-6 also has a few stories that tie together and are somewhat of a longer goodbye. Enjoy!

Awoken/Mara Sov Stories

Brephos

Brephos covers Mara and Uldwyn's journey with Project Amrita and the mothership Yang Liwei. Project Amrita is a quest to spread humanity and shed it's dependence on the Traveler.

Cosmogyre

These detail the events of the ship Yang Liwei, it's Captain Alice Li, Mara, and Uldwyn during what appears to be the start of the Collapse.

Ecstasiate

The awakening of the Yang Liwei crew and how they defined themselves on a new planet, Tributary, as the Awoken.

Fideicide

The foundation of the Eccaleists and Sanguine, the brief telling of the Theodicy War, and an Eccaleist woman by the name Diasyrm. Alis Li abdicates for a new Queen at the end of the war.

Imponent

The reign of Queen Nguya Pin, the conversation to Eccaleist, and a battle between Sjur and Uldren; Devna Tel becomes the third Queen. Mara launches a satellite to find proof that it's time to leave the Distributary.

Heresiology

At some point Uldren and Osana seek out Mara in the woods. It is revealed that Eccaleists were founded by Mara and the Diasrym was Mara's pawn, she started the Theodisy War.

Bamberga

A distress signal from the Amestris.

Nigh

Alis Li and Mara argue about Mara's expedition and some past events surface.

Katabasis

Mara speaks to rally the Awoken to leave the Distributary to aid their ancestors. Here she also explains time relativity, thousands of years has passed for the Awoken but merely centuries in the worlds of their ancestors.

Palingenesis

Mara's mission through the Distributary. Mara discovers the fate of Earth and perhaps the beginning of her telepathy.

Revanche

Mara and Uldren brief the Awoken about Earth and the Fallen. Many flee as the Fallen attack seems imminent, Mara claims her title as Queen. Sjur defeats the Fallen Baron and 4 Vesta is saved.

Telic

Mara begins to shape things as she sees fit, Uldren returns to the Reef with an Ahamkara named Riven.

Tyrannocide

The events that transpire before and during the Awoken attack on Oryx's Dreadnaught. Mara reveals secrets to Sjur and plans in further secrecy.

Miscellaneous Stories of Mara

  • Riven

A conversation between Mara and Riven.

  • Oracle

The Techeun Kelda Wadj, the Allteacher becomes possessed by something. The Oracle Engine is formed after her death using the singularity of the Allteacher as its seed-heart.

Outro

This should be a pretty chronological order on the stories. I need to re-read the Cayde-6 stories to put them in order. As with anyone, I'm sure this isn't perfect so if you catch something out of order or in the wrong place let me know. Also note that these can all be found on ishtar-collective.net as well, the site has been updated recently with all of the lore if you prefer to go through them in order on that site. The Mara Sov stories and the Eris/Medusa stories are extremely spoilery but totally worth the read for getting some background before Forsaken.

Not sure if anyone cares but Dereck Rodriguez of the San Francisco Giants was wearing a Guardian Crest hoodie during a post game interview

Posted: 29 Aug 2018 11:32 PM PDT

IMO the best thing about the Ward of Dawn buff was how activating it makes everyone on the other team waste their super on you now.

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 10:34 AM PDT

3 times last night i've counted. 3 golden gun hunters popping their super in response to my Bubble only to waste all 3-6 shots on it.

Don't give up though! This team blew every grenade and super they had at their disposal at me: Ill trade all that damage for my single death.
