Just realized that once you do a production trade route with yourself the arrows on the trade become hammers.

I've been considering getting Civ 6, but is it worth it?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 06:44 AM PDT

Hello r/civ

I've always been a huge fan of civ 5 and I've been thinking about trying out civ 6. I've been following this sub for quite a while and the game looks fun.

But every now and then people point out major flaws, which makes me wonder if I should I get it or enough.

Going true the game's steam reviews doesn't help much and I can't really find anything but critique when jumping around on the internet.

So I've decided to try asking you guys. Is civ 6 worth it, or should I spend my money on something else?

Small update: Been getting a lot of people's different opinions which I really appreciat. After reading true everyone's comments then I decided to buy Civ 6 with the dlc, and I gotta say I really enjoy it. It feels different but not different enough, that it doesn't feel like a civ game. I think I'll be able to sink a lot of hours in to the game. Again, thanks a lot for everyone's inputs

Tl;dr: Followed everyone's advices and bought the game. It is worth it.

Civ 6 on hardest level and you get 1 Niter, Zero Coal and One oil deposit - kill the match and restart?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 04:50 PM PDT

Looking for what others have done when your "home region" doesn't have some of the must-have commodities. I had a great start going with 6 cities and when Niter was revealed I had one deposit. No coal. A couple of the Civ AIs already have submarines and battleships and it's AD 1375 in game.

Sooo, are we getting a Summer patch till the end of month?

Title. Also, I personally don't consider a cross-platform patch that much impactful for most players.

How do I get it so Gandhi activates nukes?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 12:52 PM PDT

I really wanted to see it happen for myself so I tried to play a game in the information era with 7 Gandhis as the AI players but eventually, they passed a United Nations law which banned the creation of nuclear weapons.

If I wanted to see Gandhi unleash nukes, what is the best way to set up a game?

Getting bored with civ 6, how to make it more fun.

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 04:44 PM PDT

I've played civ 6 for a while after it got released, then played at again with Rise and Fall. But I'm kinda getting bored with it, should I wait for a new expansion? When I got civ 5 it had all of the expansions, so it didn't really notice how much it changed the game.

So what I'm asking is would a new expansion add enough content to make the game feel fresh and new or should I just forget about civ 6? The reason I'm asking is that I can't find a lot of games that are similar to civ 6 (Strategy history games).

What does civ 6 do better than 5? (Asking for advice)

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 02:01 AM PDT

I've really been wanting to get into civ 6, but I just can't bring myself to play it instead of civ 5. That being said, I know other people do play civ 6.

What is it about civ 6 that people prefer over 5? please explain to me so I can weigh the pros and cons of getting into civ 6.

240hz on CIV 6 not working

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 06:12 PM PDT

Hello,

Ever since getting my new 240hz monitor, Civ 6 has not been working on at 240hz. In the settings, it has the option for 1080p 240hz but ever time I set it to that it goes back down to 1080p 144hz. I know it's a small thing and it seems like it doesn't really matter or make a difference, but i just want to get the most out of my new monitor.

Casual Civ player question

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 10:36 AM PDT

I don't play too much Civilisation at all. I just don't have the time these days. However, I absolutely loved Civ Rev for iPad. Enough depth and when multilayer worked, it was great. 32 bit only so that's the end of that sadly.

I'm toying between getting Civ Rev 2 or Civ 6 for iPad but also gifting a copy to my GF. She's very good at board games and was hoping she'd get into Civ. (We play a lot of 7 wonders)

Questions - what version would you recommend? Pretty sure multiplayer was never added to Civ Rev 2. -how does 6 play on the iPad?

I reckon I'll pick one up either way and maybe try and get back into it on pc/Mac as it's such a great game type. Shame I don't have time to go too in depth these days.

Thanks in advance!

[Civ 5] What do you like your map setting to be?

I'm talking size or anything that you change in the start menu. Anything that you can think of!

Where's the Economic Victory?

Posted: 15 Aug 2018 05:41 PM PDT

It's been about 5 months since the Australia DLC was released for iOS. It essentially was released a full year prior to the iOS release on PC. That DLC is the only way to currently win an Economic Victory in the game. Cross-Platform Multiplayer was released this month for Linux/Mac/PC, are we going to have to wait till CMP comes to iOS until they implement Economic Victories? Are we going to get a patch with the Economic Victory condition? Is this something that is going into the "final" Expansion? Sadly, it's that time during Civilization's life-cycle when FIRAXIS has gone quiet and won't release any information until the end of November/beginning of December...
