| We really need to be more appreciative of the couriers in Skyrim.... Posted: 18 Jul 2018 03:13 AM PDT They will do anything to make sure their job is DONE, dammit. I just went on a werewolf rampage right now, and as I murdered my old friends I was gaining their inheritances. Well, the courier chased me the entire way, following my path of carnage with the letters clutched in his quaking palm. At one point I accidentally hit him to which he squealed "I'll come back later!" as he ran for the hills, only to turn back around and pursue me. [link] [comments] | ||

| Couriers really DON'T mess around! Posted: 18 Jul 2018 06:31 AM PDT I was on my way to Windhelm this morning when suddenly I see some fighting off in the distance. I have Warzones installed so I assumed it was a Stormcloak v Imperials fight, because it looked pretty big. As I get closer I realize it's a single figure fighting a mammoth. Lo and behold, it's a Courier. He won. When I approached him after he slayed the mammoth all he would say is "Important packages to deliver, I have to run." Remind me never to mess with these guys. | Shadow over Insmouth/Solstheim link Posted: 18 Jul 2018 03:41 AM PDT Bethesda clearly admire the Work of HP Lovecraft (Dunwich borers etc.), but there was another possible HP Lovecraft reference i hadn't noticed.... So I was reading Shadow over Insmouth (SOI) last night and its very clear the "Deep ones" inspired the Lurkers. One thing i realized is that whenever you kill a lurker, they always have jewelry on them and the Deep ones from SOI also have a key affinity with jewelry. Thought this was just a really cool detail, and just wanted to share! [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 17 Jul 2018 07:15 PM PDT For some fun I ran around Whiterun and killed all the chickens at the farms and in the town. Little know fact: Chickens respawn. I didn't realize what a mistake I had made until the entire town, and I mean the ENTIRE TOWN of Whiterun came down on me. Even the Jarl joined in. I was getting hammered from all directions. I couldn't surrender. I only had a frenzy spell and I thought better of using that one. I tried a couple of dragon shouts to distract them. Nothing worked, absolutely nothing. I own Breezehome, so I jumped in there to catch my breath and heal back up. When I left Breezehome, there was a line of people from my door to the front gates and from my door to the well in the other direction waiting for me and they immediately started beating on me. I made it out of Whiterun and went to Riverside where they were waiting for me. The beatings continued. I ran across the bridge and far away as I could and I was able to fast travel to Solitude and I was ok. I bought a calm spell from the wizard and fast traveled to Whiterun to give that a try. I phased in at Dragons Reach and the guard ran up to me and offered a chance to surrender for 40,000 gold. That's some damn expensive chicken! I know it was organic and locally sourced, but come on! I paid my debt and walked back to Breezehome. Now there is a chicken on my steps. A chicken walking the road in front of my house. A chicken behind my house. A chicken on the side of my house. There's a chicken patrolling the bridge where the Alikr dudes hang out by the front gate. The chickens walk around my house. I've never seen chickens like this. They are taunting me, daring me to strike them again. The chickens are definitely one of the games bosses. Alduin was easier than these chickens. They stare at me. They taunt me. | Posted: 17 Jul 2018 11:17 AM PDT Over the years I made half a dozen attempts to go all in on Skyrim. In theory I should love this game. I love Fallout, I love the idea of getting lost in a fantasy world. I've bought Skyrim four different times across different platforms. I'd start out excited, dive in the first few nights, but each time somewhere in that 20-30 hour range I'd lose momentum. Slowly but surely I'd be getting swooped by dragons at every turn, a sneaky archer caught in an open field. My quest log would be pointing me a hundred different directions, townsfolk would ask for my help as I walked by just adding to the pile of quests that I already couldn't keep in context. There would be something that I WANT to do, but there were dragons to be slayed, things I HAD to do. As a normally very organized and efficient gamer this would drive me mad. Then Steam summer sale came and put Skyrim SE on sale, I decided maybe its time to do this again. I was prepared to look at mods and even set the difficulty down on the easy side if it meant I could enjoy the world. You don't come to Skyrim for the combat, you come for the stories. So I fell down the rabbit hole of looking up mods and came across your beloved Alternate Start Live Another Life... I finally fucking get it. I'm all in. Dragons? Those don't exist. Dragonborn? Never heard of em. I'm an adventurer, murdering bandits and returning family heirlooms, wandering town to town and then disappearing into the sunset when the job is done. Fell in with the Companions because I already like to fight and now I get to do it for coin and honor. One day it may turn out that dragons are back and I'm someone special, and man will these people be shocked. "Hey, can you believe HE was Dragonborn all this time? The guy who went and got grandpa's sword from those bandits!" But that day is not today. Today I'm gonna go get lost in the woods... again. TL:DR Streak of failed attempts to get into Skyrim ends when player decides to skip the main story and wander off into the woods. Chants of "One of us. One of us." can be heard in the distance. | Is skyrim worth getting nowadays? Posted: 18 Jul 2018 07:53 AM PDT I know, asking that in this sub could be unnecessary for the obvious answers. But, I want to know if the game it's for me. I've never played an elder scrolls game, but I like fallout and dark souls for comparison. I really like open world games as well. However, I still don't know if I should get skyrim. I play on console, by the way. [link] [comments] | ||
