| Posted: 07 Jul 2018 07:16 AM PDT The news section was a great addition, but I play Pokémon Go intermittently, and find it tough to figure out when there 2x catch XP, 2x raid XP, etc event going on. The news stories aren't organized in a way to easily see what's happening now and what's coming up, and I often end up googling it, which doesn't work well either. Example: I know there was a 3x catch XP event going the past week, but IDK if it's still happening. I know there's a Articuno event today, but IDK the start or end time or what bonuses I get. And community day is tomorrow, but idk the start or end time. TL;DL Suggestion: within the app, have an ordered list of countdown timers with the current event bonus & end time on top, and future events, their duration, and bonuses below it [link] [comments]  | ||
| Had my first shithead encounter while playing Posted: 07 Jul 2018 05:38 PM PDT My wife and I (Mystic) were wrapping up a day at the park by taking a few gyms (Valor) before leaving for home. We notice that the Pokémon we put in a gym came back not 5 minutes after we took the gym when some woman (Valor) drives up to us and asks us if we're the people who took the gym across the way. We say yea, and she asks if we know that you can only earn 50 coins per day. We say yea, and she gets all huffy. No doubt she was the reason our Pokémon just got killed off. So I ask her if she just found that out, at this point I had no idea as to her angle of this conversation. I'm a pretty easy going guy and oftentimes aloof to these things. She basically goes on to say that we shouldn't have taken the previous gym or the gym we were currently cutting down (basically let her have the gym for the day). I said, "...uuh I mean, that's the game, I mean... ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯." She scoffs and says, "Huh, OK then" in a very "well let's just see about that" tone. We proceed to attack the gym while she sits in her car hitting the gym team with berries until we prevail. She drives off, we left it empty just to spite her. Next day, I notice there's a level 5 account (Instinct) with my wife's and my name merged together to make this account sitting in a gym. Correlation? Troll? No clue. I took the gym. Now hopefully I will have a shiny glasses squirtle tomorrow to match my squirtle tattoo. Presumably the new event Pikachu is supposedly to be Alolan/summer themed and is at the literal center of the Alolan release. Unless I've forgotten, there is no announced way to obtain an Alolan Raichu yet. So I ask, why does Straw Hat Pikachu not get the pleasure of evolving into a special event Alolan Raichu? When I noticed my startdust ended in 67, did some math, avoided weather boosted pokemon, caught 12 pokemon, accidentally hatched one and went over by 1200, then powered up a low level pokemon to hit this. TL:DR dude seemed to be following me and I took evasive maneuvers to avoid being mugged, but I'm pretty sure he was just playing PoGo and thought I was weird. So today I decided to smoke a bit o' MJ and head to the park for some PoGo, just to kill time before I go to work in a few hours. I went to my usual place, a nearby park with several stops and gyms. Now, I was already pretty toasty when I got to the location, so I decided to sit in my car for a bit and space out while I spun a nearby pokéstop. A couple rows down, parked closer to the entrance of the park trail, was some dude also chillin in his car. No biggie, just two dudes chillin in their cars. No one else around. After about 10-15 mins, I got out of my car and started walking down the trail. I got about .2 km into the trail before I noticed THIS DUDE WAS FOLLOWING ME. He got out of his car immediately after I did. Now, I know this could've just been a coincidence, but even when I came to a fork in the road, he took the same direction I did. All the while, he was on his phone... I came up to a big ass set of water drainage tunnels. You know, the big metal ones that they build underneath roads. These ones are about 10ft tall and really long, and the middle tunnel has a cement trail going through it. I book it down the tunnel, the one with a cement pathway, and I go into goddamn stealth mode. Without the guy seeing me, I hide in the neighboring tunnel. Only, this tunnel has water in it, so rather than run through to the other end, I do this awkward wide-stanced hobble to avoid stepping in the disgusting puddle of water resting at the bottom of the tunnel. All while wearing flip flops, too, and trying to make minimal noise while in a giant echoey tunnel. Halfway through the tunnel, I look back and see that dude, still on his phone, actively start looking around. He was probably wondering where the fuck I went. He turned around and saw a silhouette of me inside the tunnel, and we stared at each other briefly before I hobbled off back to my car. My heart was honestly racing as my stoned mind began to contemplate the possibility of being robbed by some random dude. We were the only two people in the park, so it definitely would've been the opportune scenario for a mugging, which is why I got scared in the first place. Anyway, I have a hunch this dude was just there for some PoGo, as I sometimes encounter other players when I'm there, and he was on his phone. If he happens to read this: sorry I ran from you, dude. Before the event started I figured it will probably a 50% chance because it's a small 3 hour window and niantic can't expect everyone to play like Brandon tan. But oh well even 10% would have been good at this point. It's just frustrating that's all. I'm not sure if I even attend community day tomorrow because right now I don't feel any fun playing the game just frustration. We hit about 23-25 raids total and with the hour long lucky eggs I ended up getting around 1 million xp. Almost made it half way to 38 in just 3 hours. We even got lucky and found 4 raids that still had 15 minutes left after the event ended. By the time we got to them there was only enough time to hit 2 but hey, that was 2 extra chances that we could have missed out on. I fo wish the shiny chance would have been better but I'm still happy with how the day went. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Can we make adding friends easier? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 02:57 PM PDT Since Pokémon go has a AR mode and has access to most of our cameras we should be able to use a QR code to add friends. This would make it a lot easier than having to enter the code. It can be something similar to a Snapchat QR code. Additionally I think that they should and a "search for friends nearby" option where if you and a friend are within maybe 100 ft you can both just go I to find friends nearby and add through there(like Snapchat also). Are there any other ways we can make this easier to add friends ? [link] [comments]  | ||
