"Killed" the Ender Dragon without doing anything

So, I went to fight the Ender dragon, and I died. I went back to the stronghold, but this time I mined through the walls to get there quicker. I placed the blocks back in their appropriate spots afterwards. I went to the end, and the game crashed. When I opened the world again, the blocks that I had put back were in my inventory again, but also were in their proper place, so the blocks duplicated themselves. I thought it was kinda weird, but shrugged it off. I went back to the end once again, but this time the dragon was gone and its egg was there, as if I had defeated it. So I basically killed the Ender dragon and got its egg without lifting a finger XD This was in Bedrock Edition.

(EDIT: Oh dear. Went back to the overworld and the Ender Dragon is there.)
