Why are Overwatch characters all 10k gold?

As a newbie and a FTP player, when I get the quest to play as an Overwatch character and there are none for free this week, I'm not able to finish the quest. I know that the game is designed to encourage purchases, but there are lots of characters for 2000-4000 gold, but all Overwatch are 10,000. Having a cheap(er) one would be great for quest purposes, especially when new and still figuring out how much you'll invest in the game.

Roots shouldn't interrupt Yrel while she is charging Avenging Wrath.

Is anyone else bothered by the interaction roots have with Yrel's [[Avenging Wrath]]?

For those who don't know, if you get rooted while you're casting charging avenging wrath, it acts as an interrupt, meaning you don't cast Avenging Wrath and it gets on full cooldown, as if it were interrupted.

I understand why it's this way: Yrel has no way to cancel an ability once it's charging, so a root on a Yrel who was casting Avenging Wrath would essentially be a silence until the root wore off.

Even then, 99 times out of 100, I would rather the leap be grayed out for the duration of the root and be able to cast it once it's over than have it be interrupted completely and put on full cooldown.

A few other possible solutions:

When rooted, interrupt the leap, but refresh it with a reduced or no cooldown so that you can start casting it again as soon as the root wears off.

Give Yrel a way to cancel abilities once they're charged, and keep Avenging Wrath Charged, but greyed out. This would give the Yrel player a choice to cancel it, or sit there and do nothing until the root wears off.

There are probably better solutions to the problem, but right now the interaction between Yrel's leap and roots is counterintuitive and feels wrong.

Edit: As u/lemindhawk pointed out, Cho's Q does not get cancelled while rooted, merely greyed out. This is how Yrel's Q E should work.

The (weird) reason for removal was said to make base more open, so that defenders have more space to move. Instead what it did was to make fort diving much more safe since now there's nothing to protect you once enemy minions are in range.

Which hero, if it were added today, would be the most hated and complained about?

I think it would be E.T.C. for sure. Just imagine.. a tank with engage, disengage, a 1.25 sec stun on said engage / disengage, knockback, self-healing, with a Lv 1 talent party healing, an ultimate that can stun the entire enemy team for 4 seconds, a global, AND blink at 20.

A hundred posts would be made daily to change the hero, or outright remove it!

What is your choice? What hero would be the most broken thing demanding removal if it were added today?

P.S.: Only choose heroes from the first 2 years of Heroes of the Storm, so only up until Lunara at 2015. december 15.!

Punishment for non participation should be higher than disconnect

Dc can be intentional or unintentional but staying in game and hearthing back and forth without fighting at all, leaving team mates to die and shit like that should have a much higher penalty. That is effectively playing 6 v 4 at least the bot does something.

Versus AI with AI Teammates - Is this game mode intentionally broken?

Sometimes I like to play Versus AI with AI teammates, either to try out a new hero, or to play a quick game when I have unstable internet and don't want to inconvenience anybody else. I've noticed that the AI on the player team is much stupider than the AI on the enemy team.

Some examples:

  • the enemy AI coordinates to get the boss aggressively and at proper times. I played a game on BHB where the enemy team successfully poached the top boss four times! On the player team, the AI will frequently suicide on a boss. Earlier today, I saw a Medivh + Chromie try to solo a boss on Cursed Hollow and a Nova try to solo a boss on Braxis.

  • the enemy AI will aggressively go for objectives and then keep them secure. AI on the player team will do things like try chasing a retreating hero while both pads are fully red as well as empty.

  • the enemy AI will aggressively collect mercenaries on their side of the map. The AI on the player team will ignore the merc camps unless the player goes to collect one, in which case they send two heroes away from lanes to assist, even if the player is a merc-clearing specialist.

  • the enemy AI will aggressively take advantage of lane weaknesses. These are plentiful, since the AI on the player team will do things like stack 4 heroes in one lane early on. It's especially bad on two-lane maps, since one lane becomes a kill zone the player has to soak in while the friendly AIs are busy elsewhere.

At first I thought it might have been cognitive bias, but after probably 6 months of these games, I'm pretty sure it must be on purpose. Has anybody else noticed this? Does anybody know why Blizzard does this? I honestly think it would be easier for them and more satisfying for me if the AI just clumped together and went to my pings, but unfortunately AI doesn't follow pings.

"Players are given a random hero from Ability-Draft enabled heroes. Each players' abilities are put into a pool. Players take turns selecting abilities from the pool, given five seconds for each choice. Each player selects three normal abilities and one ultimate. " Some heroes would obviously be disabled from this mode like Abathur, Cho'gall. It's weird that DotA 2, the most hardcore moba, has more "fun" game modes than HotS.

Should there be a way to filter the Skin Collection in game by skin universe?

I recently learned about the idea that the HotS team has come up with "alternate" universes where they come up with an idea of a world or setting and then make a skin for what a hero would like if if they existed in that universe.

I had vaguely felt this before by kinda noting the similarites of some skins like Cyberhawk Kael'thas and Knight Owl Medihv, but I hadn't really thought about these skins being too thought out other than "let's make a mecha Medihv" but when comparing these skins together with the skins from the same universe, it's clear that there's an overall design theme used for these skins. the wiki link below really helped tie these things together

However, before I saw this link and saw how the different themes were laid out, I didn't really draw those distinctions on my own. I thought Mecha Tyrael, Knight Owl Medivh, and Spectre Illidan were all just "mecha" versions of those characters... but looking deeper into it, it's quite clear that Mecha Tyrael is from Neo Stormwind, Knight Owl Medivh is from the Eternal Empire, and Spectre Illidan is just Illidan reimagined as a Spectre from Starcraft.

But where is any of this in game? When you actually click on a skin, it has a brief background blurb which kinda ties it together. But is there any way to just see what all of the skins from an area are?

It'd be neat to be able to filter by tags like the Eternal Empire and see all skins associated with it. Or filter by Starcraft and see all the skins associated with it, like Spectre Illidan. He might be a Warcraft hero, but that's a Starcraft skin! Or Starcraft Alternate History for stuff like Infested Tychus. Some of these universes don't have many skins but some have quite a lot.

I love skins and I think this would be a fun way to look through the collection and pick out new skins you'd like. Some times I'm playing a hero I like and decide to see what skins exist for that hero, and the current menu's aren't bad for that. But sometimes I just like to see what's out there for lots of heroes and I think this would make that experience a lot more fun.

Since the HotS team is trying to push their Nexus lore lately and the upcoming Wastelands skin release, this might actually make sense for them to do after all this time.

Thoughts? I'm sure a lot of people feel this is superflous compared to more "important" issues but I would really like this!

Hyper mobility have been the talk of this game for a long while now and how tracer is basically being nerfed as a whole at the end while fenix although nerfed many times still remains a powerhouse due to his blink. If being able to move fast is deemed op then why is that not so in other games?
