PullsDay Thursday: Post Your Popped Packs Posted: 11 Jul 2018 05:11 PM PDT Greetings Travellers, This is a new weekly thread to showcase your crazy or unlucky pack openings, for F2P players and whales alike! The goal of this thread is to draw discussion around pack openings into a centralized post every week, so that players have a dedicated place to share their pulls. Whether you got a sweet Tavern Brawl reward or Arena chest, we want to see it! You can also post in /r/HSPulls. Pack Openings are still relegated to a megathread on the first day of a new expansion Note: I am a bot. Questions or feedback regarding this thread? Message the moderators. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jul 2018 12:38 AM PDT It doesn't matter how much I can save via currencyscam or amazon coins. This time the pricing is outrageous and I won't preorder for the first time. How about you? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jul 2018 05:35 AM PDT How Arrogance Leads to One's Undoing: A StudySo let's get the obvious out of the way--this guy is locked behind an $80 paywall. Oofouchowie, mywallet. However, I'm here to argue that in today's BM meta, buying Mecha-Jaraxxus (plus the bonus of a couple packs, I guess) is the safest possible insurance for your psychological state of being that you can possibly purchase, and is worth eighty, nay, one million smackeroos. As an actual PhD on emoting and counter-emoting, I've taken the time out of my busy schedule to defend the Mecharedar Lord of the Burning Legion, and yes, before you say anything, you are welcome. Part I. An Immovable Object: The Iron Defense of the Threaten EmoteAs I've previously covered, in general, the Threaten emote is a virtually useless tool in the BM war. Using it is tantamount to conceding, bar none. Even the normally aloof Nemsy's "You'd make a cute puppet!" betrays an anger behind it, the only crack in her otherwise cheerful facade, and betraying genuine anger is essentially committing seppuku in the game of emotes, making that emote completely unusable. Until now. Mecha-Jaraxxus has at his disposal possibly the most powerful overall emote this game has ever seen. Yes, I am including the Hall of Fame'd "My apologies" for Anduin, and no, I did not stutter. A bold claim, to be sure, so--what makes YOUR ARROGANCE WILL BE YOUR UNDOING such a guaranteed commanding presence in the BM metagame? The first thing we're going to talk about is the most important for those of you who are emote pacifists: BM deflection. Even if you never emote proactively, it's always important to know the proper way to parry an opponent's emote if it's leveled against you, and the art of emote defense is a subtle and complex one. M-Jaxx's Threaten emote, however, is stupendous in its almost 360° field of coverage against any assault on your composure. Why is it so good at defense? A Direct Call-out: This is, extraordinarily, the first emote you can use to let your opponent know exactly what you're thinking about them without stooping to their level! Any proactive emote is understood to be intended to inflict BM damage, and one can only inflict BM damage from a winning position; therefore, anything your opponent can bring against you in their attack can be understood to be arrogance. With YOUR ARROGANCE WILL BE YOUR UNDOING, you simultaneously acknowledge their strategy and dismiss it, stating that their cheap tactics could never hope to touch an Untiltable god like you. Moreover, you expect them to look like a complete dumbass when you eventually come back and win. Holy moly! We're talking 300% BM reflect damage at minimum, and this works unconditionally against anything attempting to get a reaction out of you--now that's the kind of value that would make Trump have a heart attack. A Statement of Fact: Most emotes contain a good amount of, well, emotion behind them, particularly the ever-"threatening" Threaten. Not so Mecha-Jaraxxus' Threaten! It's delivered in a shout, yes, but the genius thing about this skin is that all of Jaraxxus' lines are delivered in a shout--that's just how he talks. Now, when you use a line like his Threaten, which would normally be delivered in an angry tone with any other hero, his shout betrays only cold logic: you are ARROGANT, and it will be your UNDOING, and that's that. If anything, it conveys condescension, which is an incredible new presence in the BM wars. You see, condescension is like the aikido of emoting--you are using your opponent's own strength against them. The more normally damaging their BM would be, the harder their sheer force is turned against them and slammed to the ground with your sneering. Anduin and Lunara mains reading this, I know things are spiraling out of control right now, but it does get better. Part II. An Unstoppable Force: The Underrated Power of VersatilityOne of the things truly setting YOUR ARROGANCE WILL BE YOUR UNDOING apart from the pack is its ability to be used in so many different ways. I'm going to take a little bit of time to talk about Hearthstone's little minigame, the one where you play cards and try to kill your opponent. Branching Paths is probably wayyyyy too good of a card, but why? Because it's a Swiss army knife--all of its options are completely reasonable for their mana cost, and you have six different options available to you through one card. Since you sacrifice absolutely nothing to include it in your deck, and it collectively encompasses everything you could ever want in a spell, every single non-Spiteful Druid deck runs two copies of this thing. Similarly, MJ's Threaten emote has a grand variety of uses due to its ability to be played at any point in the game with no loss of effectiveness. These scenarios include: A losing position: As noted before, you are actually impervious to BM damage from a losing position as long as you hold this emote. Your opponent cannot hope to hit you with anything that can't be flipped on its back through your Mr. Miyagi-level counter-BM. A lost position: Even if your opponent is trying to BM you with 100% lethal on board, the amazing thing is that this emote still prevents BM damage. By responding with this emote as your opponent kills you, you are letting them know that, if not now, if not in this game, at some point karma will catch up to them and their ARROGANCE will be their UNDOING...it's only a matter of time. It's like a supervillain laughing all the way to their death, and is sure to deal more damage to your opponent than to you. A comeback victory: Undoubtedly the most satisfying but difficult to execute of these scenarios, this emote is actually perfect for "offense" if your opponent emoted from a winning position at some point earlier and you are currently in the process of reducing their previously smug face to a bunch of glass shards. Dropping this emote at this stage in the game isn't just a prophecy, it's a prophecy fulfilled--the sweetest revenge of all. Impossible amounts of bonus points are awarded if you held off on counter-emoting during their initial BM and saved this as your only emote at the moment of the kill. As we can see, the wondrous versatility of YOUR ARROGANCE WILL BE YOUR UNDOING gives you the edge in any circumstance. With your opponent unable to safely emote, you alone are allowed to dictate the pace of BM combat, a truly invaluable advantage. Part III. Miscellaneous Notes: A Brief Note of the Oops Emote, and the ConclusionOne final thing that cannot be overlooked is this skin's unusually strong Oops emote. ERROR! ERROR! is far above the power curve for an Oops, and allows you significant offensive power of your own, should you choose to step off your throne of condescension and truly engage in counter-BM combat. Consider running both of these when queueing up with Mecha-Jaraxxus "MJ" Watson, as the combined offensive and defensive strength and utility of these tools can utterly dismantle any opponent. In conclusion, if you are concerned with your mental well-being while waging war against the vast legion of BMers out there in the cold dark, and have not yet unlocked the Squelch DLC, Mecha-Jaraxxus is absolutely a must-have for unequivocal peace of mind. I would price this skin's raw emote power and associated mental relief at the approximate value of $74.99; thus, for me, this was like paying a mere $5 for 80 packs, which is a neat bonus to throw in along with Jaraxxotron. It is of course regrettable that not everyone can afford this peace of mind, but I personally will regard all Mecha-Jaraxxus users as grizzled generals of the BM Wars, and will be sure to treat them with the respect that they so truly deserve. Dear Blizzard, Please Change Everything About This Game According To My Tastes Posted: 11 Jul 2018 04:45 PM PDT Blizzard -- this third-party forum is the obvious and most appropriate channel to reach out to you. I kindly ask that you change hearthstone to be congruent with my individual tastes and preferences and go out of your way to make changes to even the most mundane features or game interactions so that I can pretend to like this game more. That is all. Thank you. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 06:02 AM PDT We all see these posts that get to the front page complaining about the price of the preorder, comparing it to the Witchwood preorder. In a few days we will get the Midsummer Fire Festival, with a bunch of free things: new quests, « new dr 7 expansion » packs ... And people will get hyped, and praise Blizzard for their generosity. And they will say that this made them preorder the expansion. [link] [comments]

Can We Stop Acting Like the 80$ Preorder is the Worst Trade Deal in the History of Trade Deals? Posted: 12 Jul 2018 09:26 AM PDT Seriously this sub has gone absolutely crazy over this in acting like you're paying for an 80$ cosmetic. The preorder bundle is still a good deal just like every preorder before it. Was last preorder for 70 packs better? Maybe... You read that right, maybe. Everyone seems to have forgotten that we are getting a guaranteed GOLDEN legendary for each preorder! That is essentially a guarantee of any legendary in the expansion or game that you want, and that is before opening the packs. Assuming they also give out a legendary for free when you log in like they have for the last two/three (can't remember if KotFT gave one out or if it was just in the lich king adventure), then you are getting three legendaries for logging in, 1 in your first 10 packs, and then a minimum of 2 others inside the packs themselves, and on average a lot more then that if you preorder both bundles. If we talk just numbers a golden legendary is worth 1600 dust, and the mean pack dust value is 40, with the median pack dust around 100~. That makes a golden legendary somewhere between 16-40 packs in value. What does that mean? It is on average around the same value as the 20 extra packs from last expansion, and could be considered to be even MORE valuable. So please can we stop the hatetrain circlejerk because 80$ is a big number! It's a good deal and as good if not better then the last expansions bundle deals. [link] [comments]
[Speculation] The legendary spells are all inventions made by that class’ legendary minion Posted: 11 Jul 2018 01:25 PM PDT The rouge one is called "Myras Unstable Element" meaning that rouges legendary minion will be named Myra. Showerthought: Mage, Rogue, and Warlock have all had tier one murloc decks before Shaman. Posted: 11 Jul 2018 07:18 PM PDT Shaman and Paladin were initially the murloc classes. While Paladin has been able to utilize them, Shaman never has ever. Will they be the last class to actually be able to play murlocs? Only one way to find out. In case anyone doesn't remember, Warlock had it really early on, which enabled Trump's most famous moment. Water Rogue was the best deck at one point during MSoG. [link] [comments] |
