| Survival mode is downright amazing. Posted: 19 Jul 2018 06:08 AM PDT I don't think I've ever had this much fun with a game. I've been a diehard Fallout fan for as long as I can remember now. I have all of the games (excluding FO2) and while New Vegas is still my all time favorite, FO4 survival mode is a definite close second. I've had FO4 since release night and played through quite a few times. When survival mode came out I was probably deep into some other game and didn't give it much mind, but recently I started up a new save and damn it's like an entirely whole new game. Combat - Instead of just bumrushing every enemy I see and spraying them down, the game forces me to slow down and think things through. Not only does this keep enemy interaction fun, but it's unique in every battle. For example, (minor story spoiler) in Vault 114 on the quest to save Nick, the pre-boss boss named Dino was too high of a level for my weak ass level 3 or 4 self. So instead of getting a sneak damage multiplier then taking popshots at him like I would a normal enemy, I set a frag mine in a path that I knew he had to run, then shot him in the head for the damage multiplier. Fast Travel - I don't think people realize how much of the game we miss by simply fast traveling everywhere (especially FO / ES games). Now it's a literal chore getting from one place to another instead of just clicking on a location and waiting while staring at a loading screen. I have to make sure I have sufficient food, water, and ammunition without going too far over my carry weight average. I might be taking a route that has a legendary raider that I can't take yet, so I'll go down some ally or road to find a location that I would've never seen before if I simply fast traveled. Not only that, but I appreciate major (and minor!) locations more. Today while in Diamond City, I found two stores and multiple houses that I didn't even know existed. It's amazing to see the things that I looked over in all of the hours before. (Has anyone ever noticed Sheng in Diamond City before??) Saving - Failed that speech check? Quickload. Got caught stealing? Quickload. Save before that boss fight? Isn't an option anymore. The bed saving system, while annoying as fuck, immersed me in the game like never before. My actions suddenly had weight and consequence. Now it actually feels like I'm going out on a limb and taking risk when I steal. Now I have to find different ways to approach situations where I can't just speech check my way through. Bed saves make the game feel realistic. Morals - I've played evil characters just to simply see how the quests were and the lore behind factions for the experience of it. However, all of my mains have been Messiahs of the Wastes. I went into this character with the intention of being the normal, positive karma good guy that I always play. But by the time I got to Diamond City, I found myself picking my way into houses and businesses to steal food, water, ammunition, and even just random shit to sell so that I could afford stimpaks to keep Dogmeat alive. Overall, this has been a phenomenal experience so far and if you haven't tried it out, I seriously recommend creating a new character to at least sample what survival mode is like. I just thought I'd share some of my thoughts and experiences so far in hope of encouraging Fallout fans like myself who aren't too daring to try out this wild difficulty. Thank you for reading! | I love the implications of the robots "combat inhibitors" Posted: 19 Jul 2018 11:02 AM PDT So, every robot in fallout has an innate desire to destroy all humans that has to be suppressed with an inhibitor. Not a combat controller, just an inhibitor. Like, they don't need to be told when to kill, just when to NOT kill. This fact is absolutely hilarious to me. We see a couple times throughout the series the effects of such a device:

| Posted: 19 Jul 2018 01:39 AM PDT So I was playing through fallout 4 again, and I was doing some side quests so I started playing confidence man. I did it to get Cait to approve of me more, since I don't care about insulting Travis since he's a lil bitch, also Cait is best girl. I was around lvl 13, and the quest was going normally, until the bar fight with Bull, I was hostilely pressuring Travis into fighting bull and his buddy. I... I think it worked a bit too well because when the fight started, Travis pulled out his gun and shot Bull. He shot in the chest like five times, and his friend just ran away, and suddenly the story kind of took a more sinister turn if you see the murder as intentional. He blames you which could be him denying that he really did it and trying to blame someone else, or he is trying to play innocent and blame the crazed mercenary. I mean the guards don't come even though someone did just murder a visitor, but if i shoot one cat everyone gets all up and arms about it. So everyone believes it was me who did it even though it happened out in the open, I guess if everyone chose to just look away that could be an "explanation" as to why the guards weren't alerted, everyone just turned a blind eye. Point is that continuing this quest I pressured a girl into possibly sleeping with a psycho murder, and save Vadim proving to Travis that the one good way to solve your problems (possibly caused by a murder you committed) is violence and murder, and then everything will be okay. Travis is a fucking killer. [link] [comments] | ||
| Did anyone else notice Sugar Bombs cereal in Incredibles 2? Posted: 18 Jul 2018 04:57 PM PDT While I'm sure this has already been discussed, it just crossed my mind to post it here. Edit: Here's a picture from a thread theorizing it might be a reference to Calvin and Hobbes. I think it's more likely a reference to Fallout given the shared retro future aesthetic. | Fallout New Vegas has some eerie ambient sound. Posted: 19 Jul 2018 03:53 AM PDT To be more specific there are: Whispers in the graveyards (Goodsprings, Camp Forlorn Hope, and Bitter Springs) Women screaming and bottles breaking in East Freeside Gunfire and explosions anywhere in the wasteland Overall creepy stuff Anyone else notice? ;) [link] [comments] | ||

| New California is Safe, Confirms Pete Hines Posted: 18 Jul 2018 05:56 PM PDT There was some hysteria a couple of days ago - including from the maker of the mod himself - that the new board-game New California would mean that Bethesda would sue the New California mod. Some people ended up writing an article about it, and in the process contacted Bethesda, where Pete Hines responded: "People can do mods about whatever they want, whether we're doing a boardgame or not. This is little ado about nothing. Best of luck to them on their mod." Basically confirming that they won't sue. Called it. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 19 Jul 2018 10:52 AM PDT So I agreed to complete Here, Kitty, Kitty for Erin in Vault 81. Being the asshole I am, I asked for payment from a little girl who probably gets a few caps a week for an allowance...and she said she'd give me her favorite teddy bear. I felt bad receiving it at the end. :( [link] [comments] | ||

| In Fallout 4, which place is the best settlement? Posted: 19 Jul 2018 05:59 AM PDT I just started a new game on FO4 and in my last play though i had a ton of settlements with very little building. this time I would like to build up one or maybe two settlements to act as a base of operations. I'm wondering which settlement is the best all around. [link] [comments] | ||
| Went to Goodsprings in Nevada IRL Posted: 19 Jul 2018 12:21 AM PDT Pictures I was in Nevada and on the way to our destination was Goodsprings so we stopped by. The cemetery was right outside town just like in the game. A correctional facility was also nearby just like the one with the powder gangers but it was shut down. Still made me excited that I finally got to see part of the game in real life [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 19 Jul 2018 03:00 PM PDT Hello. Thanks for reading this. Over the last few days I have been searching through game files and looking over the web to find the Fallout soundtrack. Why ? Well, it is getting lost, as I've seen that even the Fallout Wiki misses some of the tracks. I hope that you enjoy it and that it brings you, whether you are an old or newer Fallout fan back to the original Fallouts. Also, if something is missing or if something is wrong please tell me. | What do you think is best quest out of all the fallout series? Posted: 19 Jul 2018 07:17 AM PDT One of my favorites happen to be reilly's rangers. It's just something about that quest that draws me, the slow dungeon crawl, up through labyrinth. The amount super mutants and traps you'll have to go through to get up there. Then there's the rescue and the fact they can die on you really puts the pressure on. The reward you'll get from is great too. Either the best non-power in the game or a great mini gun. What's your favorite quest? EDIT: Now that I think about it, Come Fly with Me might be my favorite. It has just about everything you can ask for in a quest. You can do it peacefully or warlike. You can side with everyone or no one. It has dialogue, combat , stealth. You can help launch the rocket or sabotage it and watch it fail spectacularly. [link] [comments] | ||
| It's the 30th Anniversary of Fallout's Granddaddy, "Wasteland" Posted: 18 Jul 2018 08:58 PM PDT For those unaware (probably not as many as I think), the first Fallout was originally going to be a sequel to the beloved 1988 CRPG Wasteland, a Mad Max-inspired post-apocalyptic romp through the Mojave Desert featuring killer robots, radiation cults, mutant armies, and broken toasters. Lots of broken toasters. The companion Tycho - whose "look" description inspired the Veteran Ranger Armor from New Vegas - was stated to be a former Desert Ranger as a nod to Wasteland's heroes, and the Master's plot was very similar to a sidequest in Wasteland involving an insane cyborg named Finnster and his biological experiments. The game was recently revived by InXile Studios with the crowdfunded Wasteland 2, and they're currently developing a third game through a combination of outside investors, crowdfunding, and their own bank accounts. Check out their most recent update here! So what are you guys' thoughts about our favorite RPG's spiritual predecessor? I'd love to know! [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 19 Jul 2018 11:06 AM PDT I had about 300 hours clocked into fallout 4. We had a power surge so best buys replacing my whole computer but my data can not be saved. I built a fully functioning home that was nicer than my own in real life. Completed MANY quests and was almost complete with the main story line. I feel so defeated and refuse to restart, so everyone, what was your FAVORITE part of Fallout 4. Can be your favorite quest, hidden gem in the game, or favorite companion and why? Also answer this: the game would let me flirt with curie (after she got changed into a synth), could i have continued flirting and ended up marrying or dating? [link] [comments] | ||

| Can anyone recommend Wasteland 2 to a long time Fallout fan? Posted: 19 Jul 2018 02:30 PM PDT I've been a fan of Fallout for years and I heard wasteland 2 is quite like the first two games. I've owned it on steam for a while but never really gave it a chance. I love Fallout for the story and the lore of that particular world so the idea is iffy to me. How does it hold up for a fallout junkie like me? What does it have in common other than a post apocalyptic setting? [link] [comments] |
