Need the raids done for your Moments of Triumph? /r/DestinySherpa is here to help!

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 04:20 AM PDT

Hello denizens of /r/DestinyTheGame, I'm Tahryl, one of the mods here, and also one of the mods over at /r/DestinySherpa. I'm here today to represent the sherpa community and extend a hand to those that need help.

With the introduction of the new Moments of Triumph for year one, and the inclusion of raid completions, we figured it would be a good time to get word out to the community as a whole. Below, I'll go a bit into detail about how we work, and what our goals are.

LFG Woes, Paid Carries, and the Like

If you've been on most LFG sites of late, looking to do a raid, you've probably noticed the huge number of posts require multiple clears to join. You've probably also heard about the groups that do paid carries, and charge waaaaaay more than it is worth. Why should you pay more just to play the game you already paid for?

At /r/DestinySherpa, we take individuals that have never raided before, and help them get as far as they can as a group, free of charge. We've always looked down on charging people to help them, and it's part of what keeps our community in a better light.

Teaching, not Carrying

At /r/DestinySherpa, we specialize in teaching people the raids bit by bit, so they are able to take what they have learned and take it with them into their own runs on LFG sites and /r/Fireteams. As the old saying goes, "Knowledge is power", and we seek to grant people the knowledge they need to hold their own.

We will, under no circumstances, carry you through a raid. A lot of people come into raids looking to get an easy clear, to slack off and let the burden of weight fall on the shoulders of others, but you really can't do that in the new raids. Where is the value in getting the loot if you are just carried through it?

Lots of Students, Fewer Teachers

We have a fair number of sherpas on our subreddit that have been around for a long time, teaching as much as they can, but their numbers are limited. That said, we are always on the lookout for new, up-and-coming sherpas to help out on the sub, and if we are going to be opening our doors for Moments of Triumph, we will need them!

If you would like to join our community and help teach the raids, please read our rules first, so you can get a better understanding of how we work, and also check out how to make a sherpa card, which is how we track our sherpas and their runs in our sub.

Expectations for Runs

Ever gone into a random group and met that one person that throws around all of the blame, yells at everyone, and just brings the overall mood down? In sherpa runs, the sherpa will always do their best to keep the run as calm and relaxed as possible. Leave your frustrations at the door, it's time to sit down and have some fun, and maybe make some new friends.

So, you're ready to make your first post in the sub, looking for help, but what should you expect? If you are looking for a quick clear that takes you no effort, then this might not be the right place to look. Sherpa runs can take a fairly long time, depending on the raid and the capability of the group involved, so please do expect to be there for a while.

To start making your posts, you will need to familiarize yourself with our posting tags. You will need to include a console tag [PS4][PC][XB1], an activity tag [EoW][Lev][SoS], and a tag to denote if you are looking to help, or looking for help [LFS][LTS]. [LFS] is Looking For Sherpa, which means you are looking for help, while [LTS] stands for Looking To Sherpa, meaning you desire to help.

Well, that's it from us! If you have any questions, concerns, or anything of the like, feel free to ask below, or send us a mod mail and we will do our best to answer anything we can. We hope to see some new faces around, and to help get people through their raids for their Moments of Triumph.

Lock and load, Guardians, you're going to need all of the ammo you can get!

News Flash: Bounties were pretty useless in D1 as well!

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 09:18 AM PDT

I'm seeing a bunch of complaints about rewards for the new D2 bounties. They're implying that the experience, engram and token rewards are somehow worse than what we got in D1.

I hate to break it to you, but bounties were just as worthless in D1, especially after we were able to level up our gear with motes of light and no longer needed to grind exp to level them up.

I'm not sure why people were hyped for bounties and what rewards they expected to get, but they are pretty on par with D1.

Why is it I would go out of my way to do all the hard raids multiple times/almost every week in d1, but the thought of prestige lairs sounds awful to me?

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 06:43 AM PDT

Idk if I'm just turning into an old man but the prestige lairs are the last thing I want to deal with in this game. I hear EoW is easy but SoS sounds like a nightmare.

Maybe I'm just sick of randoms and how raid.report turned d2 into a toxic lfg fest. Also back in d1 I had more friends who liked the game.

Edit: oh boy that's a lot of comments. Guys I was just kinda venting while at work I'm trying to read them all but damn I can only fake going to the bathroom so many times

Edit 2: ok so the gist of everyone's answers seems to revolve around

  1. loot sucks. Agreed

  2. Too heavy on mechanics. Agreed to an extent. Personally I think argos fight is perfect balance.

  3. loot sucks (it's brought up a lot)

  4. These new lairs are just bullet sponges and arent mechanically different (?) Idk I haven't done them. If so that's really disappointing

  5. People seem to want VoG and Crota style raids back. While I agree we have to remember many people see crota as a joke. It shouldn't be that easy. But yes it shouldn't be so heavily reliant on no deaths and mechanics and perfection.

  6. Leviathan is boring. Agreed

  7. Raids arent necessary for max light. Idk I dont agree with that anymore. I used to. But getting to max light without touching a raid feels pretty nice. It's not like the number means anything anyway so let people who play solo get there. I feel they should be necessary for something important. Idk what. But there needs to be a real reason I should want to do them.

When forsaken releases, please give us the choice to make the opening load screen darker

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 05:40 AM PDT

A small but great change becayse my eyes are burning from the pure white,

This should also apply to the character menu too.

Edit: something else others have also pointed out that I entirely agree with is that the volume for the loading screen should be something that can be adjusted, and faster loading times if possible.

One reorcurring theme of D2 Y1 is to make us weaker to give us a bigger challenge. I hope this changes.

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 05:52 AM PDT

Heroic Strikes till this patch, Faction Rally Renown System and the new Prestige Raid Lairs show one thing. Bungie knows that we want more challenges but they dont or didnt understand what type of challenge we want to face. Its not about just making stuff hard for the challenge sake. Its not about making us weaker and let us feel like a tissue paper. We want to face stronger or more enemies, harder obstacles, harder mechanics and we want to feel strong while facing this. Its all about the Power Fantasy. We dont want to feel being ripped off our power we want that we have to beat something that has greater power. But this doesnt just mean enemies have way more health or just do crazy dmg.

The idea of a weekly changing experience of a Raid Lair is fine and on paper its good but the combination of restricted loadouts (i am ok with this) and those modifiers (Arsenal is super clunky and allows no real strategy imo) especially with prestige delta scaling on top of that is just unfun. Feeling weak af and having super strong enemies arent cool. I feel the lair would work with only one of those aspects. Like remove the scaling and it will be definetly better. However the problem is that you feel extremely weak due to scaling and restrictions.

I really hope that in September we go away from this let make us super weak so its challenging and go to let us face stronger things while we are strong aswell.

EDIT: I am not saying REEE THATS TO HARD PLS NERF. I am saying the way bungie creates challenges isnt really creative and doesnt lead to a fun experience. And i am not alone on this. Gigz who beat EOW in like 26 minutes or 24 was also saying that he didnt enjoy it that much and that he likes regular prestige with new mechanics more. Same goes for the redeem clan who loves making themselves challenges.

New update is great so far, my only small complaint is it feels like faction rallies and iron banner should have their own bounties too. Feels like a real missed opportunity.

Hey Bungie, can you comment on that "It's taking 5 minutes to reach Character Select screen on log-in" issue?

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 07:35 AM PDT

It's been quite some time this issue has been introduced somewhere down the line. Don't get me wrong, I also love to prepare a sandwich for my Public Event grind during the time but sometimes, I'm just not hungry and the 5 minute log-in process is annoying.

The Daybreak Modifier Should be brought back in Destiny 2

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 11:51 AM PDT

In Age of Triumph, Bungie introduced the Daybreak modifier. For those who did not play destiny 1, Daybreak was the same as Mayhem clash. The modifier causes the player's abilities to charge up very fast. To me that modifier made nightfall fun. How many of you also thought playing the Daybreak modifier was fun? Since there's no modifiers in nightfall, if bungie puts that into heroic strikes as another daily modifier, that would make strikes fun. With masterwork weapons, players can get their supers, grenades and melee abilities in less than a minute. Do y'all think Daybreak should make a return?

My deaf clan cleared Prestige EoW just moments ago

Posted: 17 Jul 2018 10:49 PM PDT

Whew, it was very challenging using one magazine clip per weapon. Took us nearly four hours of attempts and I must say, it was fun. We used symbols (A for arc, S for solar and V for void and 4th letter for location, VVS A for instance).

First deaf clan to clear Prestige EoW? Probably.

Here's the picture- https://i.imgur.com/cxAUxmK.jpg

EDIT: We'll try and attempt Prestige SoS tonight.

I also use u/DTG_Bot to go back and look at the weekly reset thread and/or patch notes when I need a refresher. I've found this method to be a lot more reliable than reddit's search function (i mainly use mobile "Reddit is fun" app).

Requirements for Solstice of Heroes Armor (Hope you're ready for a grind!)

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 08:05 AM PDT

Below are the requirements currently listed in the database for each of the pieces of armor coming with Solstice of Heroes. There are also ornaments for the resplendent pieces that have text that leads me to believe you'll have to do something secret to obtain them. For example, the Rekindled Warlock Bond says, "Show them! You are here, awake at last!" and the Scorched Hunter Mask says, "Hide your true face from the sun, lest you get burned.". These might just be flavor texts as there aren't any objectives tied to them in the database.

Hunter Scorched Set (requirements are to upgrade the Scorched set to the Rekindled set)

Head: Complete the Spark Redux mission, collect Solar orbs on Earth (90), and defeat Guardians in the Crucible (10).

Arms: Complete the Homecoming Redux mission, collect Arc orbs (150), and complete a meditation for Ikora.

Chest: Complete the Chosen Redux mission, collect Arc orbs in strikes (90), and complete Heroic public events (10).

Legs: Complete the 1AU Redux mission, collect Void orbs (150), and defeat minibosses (50).

Class Item: Complete the Payback Redux mission, get Super kills in the Crucible (30), and complete patrols (10).

Titan Scorched Set (requirements are to upgrade the Scorched set to the Rekindled set)

Head: Complete the Spark Redux mission, collect Arc orbs (150), and defeat Guardians in the Crucible (10).

Arms: Complete the Homecoming Redux mission, collect Solar orbs in strikes (90), and complete a meditation for Ikora.

Chest: Complete the Chosen Redux mission, collect Void orbs on Earth (90), and complete Heroic public events (10).

Legs: Complete the 1AU Redux mission, get Super kills in the Crucible (30), and defeat minibosses (50).

Class Item: Complete the Payback Redux mission, collect Void orbs (150), and complete patrols (10).

Warlock Scorched Set (requirements are to upgrade the Scorched set to the Rekindled set)

Head: Complete the Spark Redux mission, get Super kills in the Crucible (30), and defeat Guardians in the Crucible (10).

Arms: Complete the Homecoming Redux mission, collect Arc orbs in strikes (90), and complete a meditation for Ikora.

Chest: Complete the Chosen Redux mission, collect Solar orbs (150), complete Heroic public events (10).

Legs: Complete the 1AU Redux mission, collect Void orbs on Earth (90), and defeat minibosses (50).

Class Item: Complete the Payback Redux mission, collect Void orbs (150), and complete patrols (10).

Hunter Rekindled Set (requirements are to upgrade the Rekindled set to the Resplendent set)

Head: Complete the Chosen Redux mission, defeat enemies with Void Energy weapons (160), and complete a Nightfall.

Arms: Complete the Payback Redux mission, defeat enemies with Void grenades (120), and complete Heroic strikes (3).

Chest: Complete the 1AU Redux mission, defeat enemies with Solar Power weapons (80), and win non-private Crucible matches (5).

Legs: Complete the Spark Redux mission, defeat enemies with Solar melee abilities (60), and complete adventures (10).

Class Item: Complete the Homecoming Redux mission, defeat enemies with Arc Supers (200), and complete challenges (20).

Titan Rekindled Set (requirements are to upgrade the Rekindled set to the Resplendent set)

Head: Complete the Chosen Redux mission, defeat enemies with Solar Supers (200), and complete a Nightfall.

Arms: Complete the Payback Redux mission, defeat enemies with Solar Energy weapons (160), and complete Heroic strikes (3).

Chest: Complete the 1AU Redux mission, defeat enemies with Arc grenades (120), and win non-private Crucible matches (5).

Legs: Complete the Spark Redux mission, defeat enemies with Void melee abilities (60), and complete adventures (10).

Class Item: Complete the Homecoming Redux mission, defeat enemies with Arc Power weapons (80), and defeat enemies (500).

Warlock Rekindled Set (requirements are to upgrade the Rekindled set to the Resplendent set)

Head: Complete the Chosen Redux mission, defeat enemies with Void Energy weapons (160), and complete a Nightfall.

Arms: Complete the Payback Redux mission, defeat enemies with Arc melee abilities (60), and complete Heroic strikes (3).

Chest: Complete the 1AU Redux mission, defeat enemies with Solar grenades (120), and win non-private Crucible matches (5).

Legs: Complete the Spark Redux mission, defeat enemies with Arc Supers (200), and complete adventures (10).

Class Item: Complete the Homecoming Redux mission, defeat enemies with Solar Power weapons (80), and defeat enemies (500).

All Resplendent Sets (requirements are to upgrade the Resplendent set to be Masterworked)

Head: Complete the Nightfall Prestige at or above the bonus threshold.

Arms: Complete heroic strikes (5) with at least one clanmate.

Chest: Complete the "Leviathan" raid on Prestige difficulty.

Legs: Achieve the Legend rank in the Valor Crucible rankings.

Class Item: Defeat Bosses (10).

Edit: I'm not sure what the Arc/Solar/Void orbs are all about, but there was also this mentioned on a few armor pieces: "Generate Elemental Orbs by wearing the full Solstice Armor set during the Solstice of Heroes event." That leads me to believe that you'll be given the scorched armor set and you complete the requirements to upgrade them to the rekindled set and likewise to go from rekindled to resplendent. Maybe completing the requirements on the resplendent sets gives you the glow? Maybe it gives you the ornaments? We'll have to see on July 31.

Edit: Great info added in the comments from /u/ShodanPT:

Glows come from Solstice engrams, there are 15 of them, 1 of each element (3) for each armor slot (5), they are cross class (Helmet Arc Glow works with an Hunter/Titan/Warlock helmet).

Regarding the Elemental Orbs, there isn't a clear explanation, I believe that solstice armor drops Elemental Orbs (tied to your equipped subclass) instead of Orbs of Light, probably do the same thing but are element specific

Edit: the objectives on each armor set is to upgrade to the next set, Green/Uncommon (Free) -> Blue/Rare -> Legendary -> Masterworks

Edit: According to the Solstice of Heroes megathread, the power level of the armor will be Scorched (which they refer to as Shattered) at 240, Rekindled at 340, and Resplendent at 400.

Edit: Modified headers to indicate that these are progression requirements to upgrade the current set to the next set.

Edit: Turns out the text on the ornaments is just the first line of the lore associated with each piece of armor...probably not some secret way to obtain them.

Starfire Protocol is now basically Sunsinger Protocol

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 10:19 AM PDT

After seeing the rework for Starfire Protocol, I thought that it had the potential to leap up to nearly first place - at least in my personal record book - for Dawnblade exotic armor. As you know...

Empowered weapon damage hits now grant some Fusion Grenade energy (20%).

I tested this last night, and I'm happy to report that I fully believe that Starfire Protocol is now a must-have, S-tier exotic for PVE.

  • Drop Empowered Rift
  • Obtain 1 Fusion Grenade kill, which immediately recharges your Rift energy
  • Shoot a boss or enemies as normal. The 20% figure is not literally 1 bullet impact = 20% grenade energy, but it does not take that long to refill Fusion Grenade energy.
  • Drop another Empowered Rift on top of the other before it runs out.
  • Repeat as necessary.

Even if you have to bail on your rift, you should have at least 1 Fusion Grenade in reserve. Stick it to an enemy for a kill and you'll immediately get your rift energy back in full, ready for another "Diet Sunsinger" cycle.

E: I may also be wrong, but I think precision empowered hits recharge more grenade energy than body shots. Will do some more testing.

Patrol and faction bounties would’ve been perfect this week... Just saying

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 01:59 AM PDT

We're all spending time in patrol for the faction rally so having bounties for both factions and patrols would've been another massive reason to play the Faction Rally.

Also why are bounties just glorified challenges... We got more loot from Zavala's Heroic Strike bounties in Destiny 1.

Seriously remember Snowglare armour? Sure they were reskins but at least the looked unique

All four faction rally scannable locations

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 02:27 AM PDT

The first of the faction scannable locations is in the EDZ Gulch lost sector. It is on a ledge along the wall on the right hand side.

The second scannable is on Titan in the archaeology. Follow the path the strike takes you on and right before the first shrieker spawn it is on the ledge above your head. GIF - https://imgur.com/CyTanZ9

The third is on Nessus in the lost sector at Glades Of Echo. It is under the boss cache.

The fourth is on Io in the Giant's Scar. Go to excavation site 2 and follow it till you get to a bunch of taken thrall and it is in the door to the right. GIF - https://imgur.com/kn6wDLR

You can get 20 tokens per character per faction rally.

Let tethered enemies count for super kills.

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 12:43 PM PDT

Some of the bounties today require super kills and multi-kills, and with this week being void singe I went into strikes on my hunter as nightstalker. Despite tethering 3 large groups of enemies in the pyramidion strike, I checked my progress and didn't get a single super kill or multi-kill, so I switched to arcstrider to get the bounties done. It's a little ridiculous that I had to switch off of the void subclass on void singe week just to get the bounty done. If tethered enemies counted as super kills, it wouldn't be an issue.

Bungie, let's not repeat history with the Raid Lair armor situation ever again

Posted: 18 Jul 2018 01:02 PM PDT

When SoS dropped I was sooo excited to see the new armor and was hoping the Hunters armor would be Bad ass! Come to find out it's basically a reskin of the EoW armor which was a HUGE disappointment.

I held out hope and prayed the the ornaments might really change the armor, like the IB or Trials ornaments do. But now that I've seen the ornaments all hope is lost. I understand they were working on Forsaken and making the game better, and I'm usually not one to complain about things in D2 unless I really feel strongly towards them.

I've ALWAYS tried to make my guardian look Bad ass and feel Bad ass. I couldn't wait for a new DLCs armor and prayed that I'd like it. I'm just so disappointed in how they handled the Raid Lairs armor. I personally don't like the EoW armor for any class (that's my opinion) but at least it was different regardless of how I thought it looked.

I know it's obviously too late at this point. I'm just putting it out there because Bungie has confirmed more Raid Lairs and I PRAY that they don't do this again.

I understand if you downvote because you like the lairs. I do too! I just don't like how they handled the armor. Thank you Bungie, keep up the changes just please take this into consideration.
