Completionist cape - Dear Jagex Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:35 AM PDT I'm gonna state an unpopular opinion. Leave solak in reaper, and leave reaper in comp. Runescape has always been a game where you didn't need any particular "skill" to progress, you just had to play for a long enough time. Now Solak comes along and forces people to get better the the game, and make friends, or atleast team up with other people. People just need to realise that they cannot have an awesome cape (which happens to be BIS) if they are not willing to get better at the game. Let people realise that they have to get better at the game if they want the BIS cape, otherwise the game will never truly progress (which could turn off other MMO players who decide to try out Runescape, and hence not dragging in any new players) I really hope that Jagex doesn't cater to these curling kids* *Curling kids are young people who want their obstacles in life swept away from their path, and it disgusts me. On Elite Skilling Outfits via Gameplay Posted: 11 Jun 2018 04:53 AM PDT Or Why a Ten+ Month Gap between Outfit Releases Is Completely Unreasonable Hello, In the most recent developer Q&A (June month ahead, youtube link, twitch link), it was stated that the elite dungeoneering outfit might be a reward from the third elite dungeon, currently scheduled to be released in December 2018. There is a plethora of issues with this scheduling and reasoning, and I will be going over them, making a case for not delaying such a "low dev time, significant gameplay impact" update by several months. I will be mostly referring to the dev Q&A stream (link above) and a reddit post written by Mod Sayln, the Live Events Manager/Product Manager ("the mtx team"). The first issue is the absurdly long wait between the outfits being made available via gameplay. The previous elite outfit to be made available via gameplay was the Elder divination outfit on January 29th, 2018, and the one before that was the Master camouflage outfit with the Menaphos release on June 5th, 2017. The time between those releases was 238 days (34 weeks, or 7 months and 24 days), which was met with community unrest in the form of almost weekly "it has been X months and Y days since the last elite outfit" posts. Moreover, it should be noted, one of the reasons for the unrest back then was the complete lack of communication on this issue. Now with the DG outfit scheduled (subject to change) for December, it would mean a gap of a minimum of 308 days between outfit releases. That is just ridiculous. Updates scheduled to be released several months from now also have an unfortunate tendency to be delayed, although this is not always the case. Secondly, I would like to address the "[s]killing outfits don't need to be released in their same release order" statement made on the dev Q&A stream. With the exception of the thieving outfit being released with Menaphos, the order in which the outfits have been made available via gameplay has followed the original order. Now, with arguably the most significant outfit next in line, it would seem suspicious and rather questionable to alter the order. Here are some of Mod Osborne's tweets confirming that DG outfit would be the next one to come out: https://twitter.com/JagexOsborne/status/982206408031547392 https://twitter.com/JagexOsborne/status/967002192124305409 Thirdly, in the dev Q&A stream, it was also stated that the third elite dungeon could be released in September, but the release was delayed until December due to the abundance of combat updates released recently. Although this makes sense, it is contentious to bundle a significant skilling update with it and then delay the whole package. Moving on to see how Mod Sayln's post from last December has aged (link above).
Yeah, about that. I suppose hardly releasing anything is a "structured schedule", but I doubt the community understood/expected for it to be that. The Year Ahead 2018 stream [ /u/imsuity's tl;dw] from January sang the same song:
Since those comments, there have been zero concrete statements about the remaining elite skilling outfits being made available via gameplay. I am aware of the elite farming outfit which is planned to be released with the player owned farms update later this year, but I consider that to be out of the scope of this post as it is going to be a reward exclusively from gameplay. Finally, I want to highlight the fact that the original statement of making the elite skilling outfits available via gameplay was made on October 12, 2016 (), and if the current unreasonable trend continues, we would be seeing the final outfit being made available sometime in 2020. That is not okay. My own suggestion for the elite dungeoneering outfit would be either to bundle it with the second elite dungeon, scheduled to be released in July, or separate it from the elite dungeon update altogether and release it on some patch week in the very near future. As stated before, the update is very low effort from the developer point of view while also being a much-awaited addition for the players. Delaying or ignoring the update is detrimental for the game health, especially when considering the previous statements made on this issue. Thank you for your attention. [link] [comments]

Jagex, what is the future of the Completionist capes? Posted: 11 Jun 2018 01:19 AM PDT In the past half year or so, there have been relatively few new requirements added to the regular and trimmed completionist capes. With the recent release of Solak, the discussions about the completionist capes has been resparked, particularly in regards to the reaper title (in particular the group boss aspect of the reaper title), and the capes' status as BIS (Best-In-Slot). Throughout the recent discussions, Jagex have stayed almost completely silent on the matter, to the point where you'd be hardpressed to say they're not intentionally staying quiet on the topic of comp and trim. However, this is not to say that Jagex are unaware of the issues. Quite the opposite, in fact, as it seems that Jagex are currently planning (or potentially even working on) a comp cape rework. The current state of a potential comp and trim rework is unknown, but here's what they've said recently on the topic of comp: On the topic of potential future polls: Future Polls Ideas (just a few) - Remove Reaper from Completionist Cape From The Big Questions, on the topic of comp cape: We really want to remove the Reaper title from the Completionist Cape so that we can push the difficulty of bosses. Quite a lot of the trim reqs can be made into comp reqs because they fit it better. From The Year Ahead: Will Reaper be removed before Solak? - We don't want to delay Solak until after the Comp rework. The Comp Rework will entail things we can't rush, and things that should be polled properly. So it seems that Jagex are not satisfied with the current state of the comp cape, and that discussions on the matter are taking place. Mod Stu on the topic of area task sets as comp reqs: "I've been assured that this positioning (not retroactively adding comp reqs to old content, and removing comp reqs on changed content) is temporary until the completionist capes are reworked in the future." Same post, on the Castle Wars req for trim: "Though I hope it'd be to make trim requirements 100% completion, rather than remove (the CW req). (There's a reason it's internally named the insane completionist cape.)" Same post, on the topic of reaper cape: "Personally, I'd be keen on a system of milestone achievement capes. The capes would require a % of completed achievements, and then players can choose to prioritise the achievements that best fit their playstyle." From RuneScape Survey, on the topic of a comp rework: Rework the stats (part of the complaining is from people only interested in combat and a BIS cape) Also mentioned: We want to solve the whole guideline issue and then add everything that fits into those guidelines. Also mentioned: We are deliberately designing some top-level bosses for the top 0.X% of the community and comp is not aimed at those people. Also mentioned: Mod Osborne would love to change the name from 'Completionist'. It's misleading. Neither regular or trim capes complete anywhere close to all of the game's content. In a livestream about a month ago (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/256568976, 36:10), Mod Ramen said the following: "But (reaper title as a comp req) is something we'd like to address, and are addressing. We've had the discussions, we've had the talks." On the topic of Solak: Will be part of Reaper title - didn't want to hold Solak behind while we addressed the comp cape situation and not having it on Reaper would be inconsistent. Note: for older livestreams that have mentioned the topic of comp cape, the Twitch VODs are no longer available. Luckily, Suity and Rubic are kind enough to write summaries of livestreams and newsposts, so even if the video is gone, we have a In conclusion: It seems that both sides of the reaper argument, and Jagex, can agree that, regardless of the reaper req in particular, the comp capes are a mess in their current state, and needs a rework. Jagex, we need answers. It seems that you're planning something, and with the recent discussions in the community, this would be the perfect time to start being more open about your plans. What are your plans for the completionist capes? What will change, if anything? This needs to be discussed as transparently as possible, since this is one of the most touchy subjects in RS nowadays. Whatever the future of comp and trim is, please don't keep us in the dark anymore. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Jun 2018 03:41 PM PDT I've seen lots of people use storm shards at solak/vorago as a filler ability while shield camping, but if you care about the damage of your shatter, that's actually a bad idea. The interface only shows your current number of stacks, but each stack actually represents an amount of damage that's calculated when you use the storm shards ability. So if you decide to use storm shards 10 times while shield camping with achto and fortitude, when you shatter you'll be doing a lot less damage than you would if you had been in your dps gear (unless you hit the damage cap anyway, of course). You can test this pretty easily at dummies: turn on max hit mode, equip a 1h weapon, use storm shards, equip offhand, and use shatter, and record the damage. Then use storm shards with your offhand equipped and shatter with just 1h, and you'll do significantly more damage. Damage boosting ultimates, on the other hand, matter for when you shatter, so there's no point in using storm shards in a sunshine, but you should probably shatter in it. [link] [comments]

PSA: Theoretical max exp rate 2 ticking the new div is around 330k base exp/h Posted: 11 Jun 2018 05:38 AM PDT Based on a 15 min test with bladed dive/surge and good incan spawns. raf, ava, outfit, bxp and urns weren't included in calculations. Also doesn't include the 10k you can get from the memory bot after the inital 5, im not sure how the exp rates would differ. [link] [comments] |
