Great stability fix, bluehole! /s

If part of the stability fix was to make the early game absolutely unplayable, you have succeeded. The lag is worse than ever!

Is this game worth it?

Posted: 14 Jun 2018 12:08 AM PDT

So im thinking of getting into a battlegrounds game with some friends and i REALLY dislike fortnite the style just doesnt fit me. So id like to ask you about this game. I remember when it came out that everyone played it so is this game still fun to play? Do the devs still give a shit about it or do they not bother fixing bugs and add guns like dayz? Also i heard the game was unoptimised but how powerfull does your pc need to be exactly? Im guessing something that can run at 1440p will have no problem but just to make sure. Thanks in advance for your help

Is anyone else totally oblivious as to why people get really, almost impressively salty at this game?

Posted: 13 Jun 2018 07:10 PM PDT

I'm not an expert player by any means. My best game was #10 with six kills on the desert map. I got a couple of tasty moments, but got taken down by a sniper whilst ducking into a building just a tiny bit too late. And do you know what I did?

I said "Damn, almost," backed out of the game, then queued right up again.

This game is fucking *engineered* in such a way that deaths are easy to recover from, both from a gameplay standpoint and an out-of-game one. You're in with ninety-nine other people at max, and your chances of making it to the top are literally one in one hundred, and that's at the most baseline level. That's if you got dropped into a football field with everyone else and you had to fistfight to death. Adding in things like the RNG for weapon drops and play area shrinking, not even counting where people drop in at, and the odds of making it all the way to the end just to see that victory message are now so far in the air that you could skydive off of them.

What really drops the proverbial cherry atop this sundae, though, is the fact that you will *always* see someone that's better than you are, and it will *always* be in a different way. Someone might be better at aiming. Someone might be better at judging what to carry versus what to drop. Someone might be better at driving. And you know what? That's okay!

I haven't died in a single way that hasn't taught me something. Died due to beelining for the biggest city I can find? Well, clearly I need to figure out where to go instead. Died to someone with level 3 armor as opposed to my motorcycle helmet? I should pick my fights better. Died thanks to crashing my car? I'm an idiot without a drivers' license.

As buggy and stupid and bullshit as this game can be, I have never gotten more than mildly exasperated at my numerous misadventures. It's great. I learn from my mistakes, and relish my accomplishments. I hone my skills without fretting over them. And if/when I die? I head back to the lobby, queue up, wait thirty seconds, and do it all over again.
