| ''What should I buy?'' (expansions, gemstore) a step-by-step guide! Posted: 09 Jun 2018 06:07 AM PDT Hi everyone, I keep getting alot of questions from people who don't know which expansion edition to buy to unlock as many things as possible, so I wrote a list about what I think you should do: -buy Heart of thorns: standard edition -buy Path of Fire: ultimate edition (this gives many great bonuses including 4000 gems!) ''What should I do with the 4000 gems then?'' -buy the Living World Season 2 Complete Pack (gemstore) this leaves you with 2720 gems. -buy the Living World Season 3 Complete Pack (gemstore) this leaves you with 1760 gems. -buy Daybreak (in the story panel) this leaves you with 1560 gems. -buy the Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic (it's 30% cheaper right now) This leaves you with 1000 gems. -buy the Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic (also discounted right now) This leaves you with 650 gems. -farm about 15 gold and convert it to 50 gems in the currency exchange panel. Now, you have 700 gems left. -buy one Shared Inventory Slot in the gemstore. This leaves you with 0 gems. Now, you have almost all useful gemstore items (in my opinion) You have three shared inventory slots, and two of them have a Level-80 Boost in them. Many players suggest using the boosts after you leveled one character to level 80 manually. When you used both Level-80 Boosts, you have 3 Shared Inventory Slots. ''What should I put in the Shared Inventory Slots?'' Invitation to "Lily of the Elon''. (You got this from the Path of Fire ultimate edition.) Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic And you're done! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me or ask in the comment section! :) (PS. don't forget the discount code 'WelcomeToGW2' and only buy from official retailers!) [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:21 AM PDT When the Ice Elemental kneels and he is affected by the Superheated debuff, any damage done to him will cancel the heal. Damaging him while he is healing without the Superheated debuff will not stop his healing. But you can still cancel it and there are 2 options: The first option: Break his CC bar. Probably obvious but it can be hard to time and in your average party it will most likely not be possible or nobody will be coordinated enough. The second option This option is less known, and I have never seen another person other then myself use it. Any Pull, Knockdown or Launch will also cancel this heal, even if it doesn't break the CC bar. It even works if his CC bar is recharing. All you need is a single ability to cancel it. I personally only ever play Guardian and Necro in fractals, so I know for sure these skills work:
It's a pretty neat trick to know, as in a Pug you can prevent the boss from healing all by yourself. Especially DH is great, as F1 and GS5 can make sure he never heals. [link] [comments] | ||

| Thank you for the graphics of this game Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:28 PM PDT The graphics of this game are amazing ! Obviously it does not compete with a BDO but believe me , Guild Wars 2 will look better in 5 years ! WHY? Because the game has its own graphics design. No games look like Guild Wars 2 like no games look like WOW. I am very amazed by the talent of the developers of this game. Actually, I think this is the key if you want to have a long term MMO. The graphics should be a part of the lore and world if you want them to survive in the long term. When you look at WOW, the majority of players (me included )never complaint about the graphics ( from 2004) even today, players are still amazed by different spots and take screenshots to show the beauty of the game. It's exactly what happen with Guild Wars 2. And I just want to say, as a new player , thank you, because I really have the feeling to play a game which has its own identity and to be a part of an unique world ! [link] [comments] | ||
| Tried a few MMOs while waiting for the next LS release Posted: 09 Jun 2018 06:05 PM PDT I have to start this by saying I may be biased towards this franchise - I played Guild Wars 1 and 2 since their respective launches. However, I feel like I am open to the idea of trying a secondary MMO. I generally am a PvEer, and I really enjoy open world content that I can get immersed in. I recently installed WoW for the first time ever. I was surprised about how the entire experience of creating a character and the opening zones still feel like they are right out of 2004. Guild Wars 1 seems like an infinitely more polished experience, and that game came out around the same time. I feel like it holds up way better than WoW. I did 2 or 3 'kill ten rats' quests and stopped playing. I understand the end game is probably better than the open world and leveling up, but there was no way I was slogging through 15 year old content. I would much rather replay GW1 than ever go back to WoW. This past weekend I installed ESO. I had encountered multiple bugs while signing up (including an error about how my email address was in an incorrect format, when the real issue was how I already had an account). The open world seemed pretty neat and reminded me of an offline Elder Scrolls game. I can't really judge the combat because I didn't make it very far, but the sword swinging felt awful and the movement itself was really clunky. Ultimately the reason that I just requested a refund is because the load screens were unbearable, and I have an SSD. I had previously also tried BDO and FFXIV. BDO's issues have been documented - the open world was incredible, but I ragequit and never looked back after one too many bad RNG rolls on essentially mandatory gear upgrades. FFXIV - I'm sure it's a really good game, I didn't personally like the combat and the open world events and exploration didn't seem nearly as good as GW2. I think if I paid money for a max level boost, I'd probably enjoy the game much more, but I didn't want to do that. Ultimately, my time with other MMOs made me appreciate Guild Wars 2 even more. It's by FAR the most polished experience. Everything just feels so much more professional and thoughout - login screen, character creation, combat, open world, UI/UX. There are certainly some downsides with dynamic (or not so dynamic) events, but after experiencing them, it's harder than I thought to go back to quest hubs. Anyway, I look forward to many more years of this franchise. I don't know that the LS model will ever get me back to a point where I spend all of my (limited) video gaming time playing this game, but I imagine that this will be my one and only MMORPG for the foreseeable future, supplemented by offline games when there are lulls in content. | Posted: 09 Jun 2018 08:23 AM PDT After trying GW2 10+ times in the past and never getting past level 20 without giving up/uninstalling (which seems like a common issue with many new players), I've finally hit level 80 - so I figured I'd let others know what helped me stick with it this time around. For starters, join a Guild. Nothing against the people advertising guilds in starting zones for new players, but I strongly recommend searching for an established guild that fits your play style. (Such as PvE, PvP, or a guild that's focused on frequent group events, etc.) In the past, I always tried to follow the main story line as a source of leveling - I was so used to how the typical MMO experience is, that I constantly felt the need to "look for quests", but GW2 is NOT your average MMO. You have the freedom to do whatever you want, which definitely takes some getting used to. By exploring the world, you will encounter events so often, I don't remember there ever being a stale moment in my leveling experience. One really cool thing about exploring less-visited spots of the map is that by killing mobs that have NOT been killed recently, you can get some really insane bonus experience - that was definitely one of the highlights of my leveling experience, which may sound dumb, but being rewarded for killing mobs just felt really satisfying. Pick a class and stick to it - you may feel the desire to make 5 alts, but that will get you nowhere and you'll probably get burnt out from the low level experience. In my opinion, avoid using your level 80 boost (unless you're only using it to unlock the raptor mount in the PoF starting quest, which is what I did). I was pretty lucky because the guild I joined was willing to show me the ropes and bring me through the world, while leveling, doing events, and teaching me a variety of things the "average" new player wouldn't really be aware of. In addition to that, I was always invited to guild events, fractals, etc. even though I wasn't experienced, which removed the stress of being a "new player" and possibly making errors that could negatively effect the group. Anyways, hope that helps some new players that struggled to stick with it like I had so many times. I finally see all that GW2 has to offer and as of lately, I look forward to playing everyday! I know some people might suggest "taking your leveling experience slow", but for anyone like me, I think making your way to level 80 fairly quickly will allow you to feel some sense of progression, which ultimately will help you avoid that "low-level boredom"! I forgot to add - a unique feature in this game is being able to return to previous, lower level zones for events and such as the experience is scaled to your level. Don't ever think "content is difficult to find" (like I foolishly did), the content in this game is practically endless and there is something happening at any given moment! [link] [comments] | ||

| What quality of life addons would you recommend to new players (or old ones who never bothered) Posted: 09 Jun 2018 10:18 AM PDT I've been playing the game for a few years now but I never played around with any of the quality of life addons I see on youtube channels. I wanted to give some of them a try but I've always been nervous about using the wrong application that would result in A-Net banning my account, so I wanted to know what applications to avoid and which ones (if any) A-Net has made an official statement on. | NVIDIA 398.11 drivers ruined my performance, don't update Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:47 AM PDT EDIT: of course this info won't apply to everyone, since everyone has a different setup. I haven't played GW2 in a while, but started back a few days ago. The game has always ran great, until I decided to update from the 391.35 drivers to the latest. My FPS dropped down to 45 in Metrica Province. I rolled my drivers back, and my performance is back to acceptable levels, constant 60+ FPS. This is just a heads up for anyone who has updated and they happen to be getting bad performance, or anyone who might be planning on updating. The latest drivers aren't always a good idea to have I guess. Current setup is... NVIDIA GTX 1070 SC Intel i5 4460 @ 3.2GHz 8GB of RAM [link] [comments] | ||
| Most community challenges are for Vigil folks. Here's one for those inclined towards the Priory. Posted: 09 Jun 2018 12:03 PM PDT What is currently the single longest item name possible to create in this game, artificially or otherwise? I've been playing around with this chatcode generator: http://gw2tool.net/en/tools/chatcode/ The best I've come up with so far is [&AvqNTwFAB2AAAA==] 250 101 Things the Mordant Crescent Doesn't Want You to Know! of Demon Summoning I'm sure there are obscure items or achievement names out there. Show me what you got! [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 09 Jun 2018 06:51 PM PDT Just wanted to take a second and say thanks to this awesome community here in GW2 you guys are the most welcoming, helpful community I have ever experienced in a game. I just recently started playing the game again after playing on release and not really enjoying it, however this time around I am having an absolute blast and kind of mad at myself that I've let this game sit in my library for so long, the overall experience I've had with this community has just blown my mind, it's amazing. Stay awesome guys. [link] [comments] | ||
