Fallout - Found the building in the FO76 trailer!

Found the building in the FO76 trailer!

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 09:23 AM PDT

At 0:42 there is a painting with a building on it above the bed. I found out which one it is. It was a mine owned by American Coal Co and located in McComas WV. You can find the picture of it here. Its even the same picture as on the painting. Here is also some more information about the history of the town and area. Days of searching went into this :P

EDIT: Here are both pictures next to each other with the one from the trailer made brighter and /u/eizak made this so you can compare them easily.

[Spoilers] I think the glowing sea is one of my new favourite locations

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 03:16 AM PDT

Ok,

So I did the quest last night that takes you through the glowing sea to meet the scientist.

This has to be one of my favourite locations in a game now. The constant feel of danger and uneasiness is amazing.

Except for Danse you felt utterly alone. Unlike the rest of the Commonwealth where there are often passing traders, raiders and the occasional bos vertibird with the sounds of distant battle.

Going is slow as you need to pick your way around the broke landscape. The few locations there are, are no real reprieve. Fill with Radscorpions, Feral Ghouls and mutated insects.

The complete lack of resources too made you feel that this really wasn't a place for people.

The only other location in gaming I can compare was the red Mountain in Morrowind.

If you find need to go here switch the radio off and drink up the atmosphere (Not too much lest you grow a 3rd arm).

Tomorrow's the big night, boys. We need a drinking game for Bethesda's E3 conference.

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:03 PM PDT

Might I suggest:

  • take a drink if Todd or whoever gets to the end of the presentation and says "...But just one more thing."

  • take a drink if Pete Hines comes out in a blazer and T-shirt

  • take a drink when Fallout 76 looks amazing but there's one new feature that everyone will hate

  • FINISH YOUR DRINK AND EVERYONE ELSE'S AND ALL THE ALCOHOL IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA if Elder Scrolls 6 is announced

I want to get as plastered as possible in this 30 or so minute time span so bring on your suggestions please

We maybe seeing Chinese Assault Rifle and maybe some pre-war chinese spy encounter/soldier in Fallout 76 because how close it is the Capital Wasteland/pre-war Capital City.

It's not the most flexible editor ever, but I've still had hours of fun with the FO4 character creator

Why do so many Fallout settlements still look ruined? Why haven’t the citizens actually made an effort to rebuild? And why are so many places still filled with trash despite people living there?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 10:15 AM PDT

You know what I mean. Most small-medium settlements still use ruined buildings for accommodation. And often larger settlements, e.g. Diamond City, are filled with piles trash which any normal person would clean up if they lived there, are are often still full of ruined houses. Even NEW VEGAS still looks like an abanonded ruin! Despite being full of often wealthy people who lose all their money to the casinos, the casinos still desperately need new paint and to be repaired. Even the Lucky 38 looks aged! Is paint extinct? Or do people just not give a shit about how their town looks? And why is there so little new construction? Sure, you've got Junktown, Megaton and some of the Legion's stuff, but the closest thing you get to a proper city/town is Vault City and the Fallout 2 NCR, where they actually have built houses, and roads, and shops and actually have tried to build something new rather than hiding in the ruins of the old world. And why is the only technology actively developed/ repaired/still used weapons and military materiel? Occasionally you find an exception, like the Highwayman in Fallout 2, or the NCR keeping a monorail running at their airport base, or the few functioning power plants you can find, but for the most part technology that isn't used just for killing raiders is forgotten. Surely, in a post apocalyptic society, once people had founded a settlement, perhaps in the ruins of something else where they could safely live, they would go on the expand, and build new houses, roads, technology, and someday reclaim the old world. And once the basic were up, wells for water, places to live, farms so they could survive, and some defences, they'd try to repair and reuse old technology, and eventually learn to build new machinery, e.g. mining equipment, like the NCR used in Quarry Junction, the NCR's monorail, or the numerous hotels and casinos House tried to preserve. It seems like few people are willing to try, and the few people who can, e.g. the NCR only do it on a small scale and then expand too far too quickly, and eventually lose all their progress due to wars and violence.

There is one thing about FO3 that I wish was in New Vegas

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 09:32 AM PDT

The little cha-ching that plays after you blow someone's head off with a sniper rifle.

Edit: Or doing anything that gives you XP

I hate that none of the companions have anything to say about Shaun. (spoilers)

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:55 PM PDT

they pipe up or at least have some kind of opinion about everything, but when it comes to the big twist of the story, your son being an old man and the leader of the institute, they have nothing to say. valentine is so integral to the story and does a lot to help you find shaun, so it seems like at the very least they'd have written some dialogue about it for him. codsworth is always talking about shaun, but even when you bring him with you to the institute and he can see shaun dying in the hospital bed he still doesnt have any dialogue about it. it's actually really really weird, not to mention disappointing, because seeing everyone's reaction would have been really interesting. would even nice characters like piper urge you to put aside your feelings and destroy the institute anyway? would maccready, having a dying son himself, empathize with your situation more and tell you you should try to have a good relationship with shaun? i'm curious and have no answers. :(

Since we will see Fallout 76 tomorrow in anticipation what are some things you hope Bethesda have added to the game?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:04 AM PDT

This isn't a post to complain about Fallout 76 or to post rumors that may or may not be true or to freak the fuck out. This is a post for everybody that's excited to say what new or fun things they would like to see be added or what old mechanics they would like to see improved on to make a better game.

I personally think it would be really cool if you could break into vaults that are doing bat shit crazy experiments and save the people or help with experiment and if you chose to save people it become kinda like a quest to save all vault dwellers.

The true Fallout 4

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 08:23 AM PDT

Far Harbor had the perfect mix of gunplay and rpg elements in there. It felt like all your choices mattered, and that you could determine the fate of the whole island. One of my favorite parts was the story between Nick and Dima, the amount of sadness I felt for nick when Dima died was too much. Anyway, I just hope fallout 76 can be like Far harbor, that would be awesome.

Different isn't slways better

I love fallout 4, but i hate that within around 1 hour of gameplay you essentially have : A full suit of T-45 power armor, 3 companions, 4 perk magazines, Have killed a deathclaw (ruins the emotions invoked by them), A minigun (pretty crappy in fallout 4 but still).

In every other game these (or similar/counterpart items) are thimgs you have to work for and find. And in the case of the deathclaw its a thing your meant to fear over then entire game, not kill in the tutorial!

when fast travel fucks you over

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:07 AM PDT

if youve played fallout for any amount of time im sure youve had the experience of fast traveling somewhere and being shot to hell the moment the area loads. well today i experienced the worst instance of this ever happening to me. i was playing fo4 and fast traveled to the super duper mart in lexington. i was alarmed the instant it loaded because the ground was rumbling, like it was being shook by massive footsteps. i reflexively slipped into VATS and screamed internally as it locked on to a super mutant behemoth, so close it was actually touching me. locking on to its head, i was aiming straight up. luckily i already had my strongest gun equipped, and it wasnt aggro'd, so i got the sneak critical too and using all my AP killed it before it could attack me. it was cool but also gave me a shock lol. apparently behemoths are so tall that their line of sight has a blind spot directly in front of them.

New Vegas Ultimate Edition for $12.88

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 04:28 AM PDT

Picked up this brand new copy of New Vegas Ultimate Edition for Xbox One & Xbox 360 that contains all DLC content for $12.88 at Wal-Mart! There were 3 copies and two were in the old "Platinum Hits" 360 cases but this glorious find was in the smaller Xbox One case and made last year.

https://i.imgur.com/n1yNfR9.jpg

I also grabbed a copy of Bioshock: The Collection for the $18 and it's $59.99 on their own website and the Microsoft store... Get to Wal-Mart and hit up the discount games section ASAP, they also had Skyrim, Morrowind, and Fallout 3 dirt cheap as well!

NOTHING beats having a REAL COPY if you purchased the digital version since Microsoft could ban your account and all your games would be stolen from you.

My little Fallout shrine

I don't know how it started but this has lovingly/jokingly been called my Fallout Shrine by my boyfriend. I just moved so the setup is still getting rearranged all the time, but it's a bunch of stuff I have collected. The one exception is the NCR helmet which I made for a cosplay. It has working fans and lights inside.

It's fun to see people's setups and love of Fallout!

Anyone else actually intimidated by some people in the Fallout games?

Posted: 09 Jun 2018 03:30 PM PDT

I started playing Fallout 1 yesterday (first legit playthrough, usually just fool around for a few hours and quit) and I gotta say there are some intimidating people in this game. Its legit like talking to real people sometimes. I was just talking to the Super Mutant guy who wants to know where your Vault is, and I was like ahhhh do I tell him? Because I wasnt sure if he was going to kill everyone there or what. I decided to tell him because I knew I couldn't fight my way out of there. And yep, he killed everyone there.

I was like wow, this game is really diverse in terms of morals and expectations. I feel like its teaching me a lesson in a way, about trust. Or maybe its just making me paranoid lol.

Anyway, Im really impressed with this game's communication and stuff

Vault experiment I thought up, what if no one knew there was an outside?

Posted: 08 Jun 2018 09:39 PM PDT

I thought of an idea for a Vault experiment and wanted to hear what y'all thought about it.

Have a Vault where everyone who is brought in is expecting or has a very young (18 months or less) child. And once the vault seals up, everyone past the first generation of dwellers is told that the vault is the entire world. Like there is no world, there is no war, the vault is literally all that exists anywhere. The only person that know is the overseer and maybe a few engineers/scientists.

Then to add on to that (this couldn't happen in Fallout76 because of the time issue) but after 200 years, they open the vault.
