I wish there was less complaining and more actual discussion on this subreddit.

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 08:29 AM PDT

(I know, I know -- a bit hypocritical.)

I've played D2 since release, but really got into the game when Warmind came out. Since then, I've become more interested in discussion about which loadouts are best, strategies for events / raids / Crucible, and tips for obtaining items or collectibles.

I thought this subreddit would be a great place for all that, but I find that the vast majority of posts are complaints about the game (or thinly-veiled complaints disguised as "suggestions").

I wonder if perhaps the "Daily Posts" could include more topics that promote actual discussion -- it seems a lot of them encourage "one-and-done" comments that don't really get a conversation going.

Otherwise, maybe there's a different subreddit more focused on actual gameplay that I should check out, if anyone can point me in that direction.

EDIT: This post got way more attention than I expected, so I wanted to add a bit more to my original thoughts based on some of the comments.

I do understand that many D1 players feel let down by D2 and want to voice their concerns publicly in a way that Bungie can actually see and respond to, and I don't mean to ignore that or suggest that nobody complains about anything, ever. I'd mainly like to see more balance between what kinds of posts are seen on the subreddit -- I really enjoy watching clips of crazy moments, browsing cool armor/shader combos that players find, and even posts about little easter eggs or whatnot people find. I think it's worth taking a look at the daily posts and seeing if we can't come up with some new ideas that encourage more discussion and/or community building.

All four faction scannable locations

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 01:32 AM PDT

The first scannable location is in a lost sector in Trostland named Widows walk. It is to left of the boss location and chest on the other side of the fence.

The second is in the lost sector in Sirens Watch. It is located under the stairs in the boss room to the left of the chest.

The third is in the Nessus lost sector Carrion Pit and it is located directly under the chest.

The fourth is located in the lost sector in the rupture called Aphix Conduit. To get to the scannable is a little tricky so here is a video on how to get to it - https://imgur.com/VUsPYSm

These scannable give you five tokens per scannable per character which will give you twenty tokens per character or sixty per account.

Can we choose to turn off renown? Even though it is hilarious, people are having to hurl themselves off of cliffs hecatomb style after completing public events during EP.

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 08:24 AM PDT

If you were curious, hecatomb is when the ancient Greeks would drive 100 oxen off of a cliff as a sacrifice.

Edit: For the people suggesting that you reload into the same instance to remove renown: 1. We know this. 2. Doesn't work solo for EP. 3. Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to do this?

2nd Edit: A lot of people are suggesting that renown be tied to faction emblems. I think this is a really simple and effective solution.

The Vanguard should go back to being vendors of their respective classes

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 03:05 AM PDT

Right now, the Vanguard exist as representatives of 3 game activities (strikes, patrol and meditations). Outside of Zavala, there is hardly a reason to continue working for Ikora and Cayde after their respective "assignments" are done. Zavala has been beefed up with time-investment rewards, but even he is missing some identity.

I propose that they go back to being vendors for each of our respective classes, while maintaining their current roles if Bungie wants (but improved). If anything, it'll help the world-building and class fantasy as we'll have high-ranking NPCs to identify with, which is always an added bonus to a game such as Destiny.

Three Of Coins should increase Exotic Catalyst drop rates

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 09:22 AM PDT

I just realized I have a ton of Three Of Coins with absolutely no use, since I already got all the available exotics that can drop, they don't do anything really. Why don't they also increase catalyst drop rates? Just a thought.

In D1 my Warlock felt like.. well, a Warlock! Now I feel like a CoD soldier till I use my super somewhat rarely.

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 01:36 AM PDT

Even a CoD soldier uses grenades way more than my warlock in D2. In D1 running strikes or NF I truly felt like a space wizard. I could throw magic grenades every ten seconds or faster. My melee would recharge it super quickly or my armor would negate the cool down. Exotics fed grenades off melee or even gave two charges that eventually overlapped.

I played it again yesterday and couldn't believe how fast I could just use magic. Hardly shooting at all.

Now in d2 I just feel like a soldier really rarely using magic.

Can we please give warlocks or even all classes back their magic skills? Damn even games where I'm just a boring soldier I can use grenades MORE often. Wth!

Community Focus: Charlemagne Bot

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 11:07 AM PDT

Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/46976

The Destiny 2 community is vast and talented. Everywhere you look, someone is doing something amazing in the spirit of entertaining, helping, or providing valuable service to others. We like to shine our spotlight on individuals and groups who are doing interesting things to support the community and get to know them better. Our community focus this week is the creators of a popular Discord bot that goes by the name of Charlemagne. They are Waterpolotrev67 and Tor_Kallon, but together they go by the name of "Root Team."

Would you like to know more?

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role in the Destiny Community.

Root Team: We have both been playing Destiny since the alpha back in 2014. Between the two of us, we have spent over 8,000 hours playing D1 and D2. We have spent over 1,500 hours raiding, and we founded a small clan of close friends we made playing Destiny. This game is a hobby and a passion for us. Charlemagne was born out of that passion.

Wow! That's a lot of time and a lot of passion. Where can we find you and this bot of yours?

Root Team: The best place to find this Warmind and her @root team is on Discord. You can join the support server for Charlemagne via https://warmind.io/support or just check out https://warmind.io for more information about what she can do. Updates about functionality we have restored to Charlemagne can be found via Twitter at https://twitter.com/Charlemagne_Bot.

Tell us about your Charlemagne bot. What does it do? Will it take over the world?

Root Team: Charlemagne is the Warmind of Discord. She provides clans with the tools they need to become legend. This includes:

  • Over 270 leaderboards per clan

  • Dozens of commands that return Destiny and Destiny 2 statistics

  • A fully automated LFG system for event planning whether scheduled or immediate

  • Real-time Destiny news and notifications—nothing is faster than Charlemagne

  • Clan management tools to keep your clan active and engaged in Destiny

It's disconcerting you didn't answer the second part of the question, but let's move on. Are you planning on adding any other features to the bot?

Root Team: We are constantly expanding her feature base every day. She started with just three commands, and today she has over 250 commands and subcommands. Building and expanding Charlemagne has been as much a passion for us as mastering a new raid in Destiny.

Our biggest focus for the future is commands and features that will help promote playing with clanmates and make it easier to find groups of people to play the endgame with. We have made great friends playing Destiny, and we want Charlemagne to help build communities and help forge friendships between Guardians with similar attitudes toward the game.

We've given everyone a first glimpse of Forsaken. From what we've shown, what are you looking forward to most?

Root Team: We are both huge fans of Destiny as a hobby, and the endgame grind in particular. To that end, the Dreaming City sounds awesome. We hope you don't reveal much about it, but the sheer possibilities implied by an "endgame destination" that has myriad secrets and is changed by the raiders who venture there has us excited. Beyond excited, really.

We also really hope that aspects of the Dreaming City are exposed in the API so we can allow Charlemagne to track, share, and connect elements of that into clan Discords to keep the excitement up when people can't play, but can log into Discord.

When you first tackle all the mysteries we're secreting away in Forsaken, what will be you preferred subclass and weapon?

Waterpolotrev67: Nightstalker all the way. My favorite weapon hands down is the No Land Beyond—can we have it in D2? As for current D2, my first Masterwork weapon, the Maxim XI, is my current sniper of choice. Nothing beats crispy headshots.

Tor_Kallon: I started Destiny as a Titan, but have since seen the error of my ways and now main Warlock. Warlocks are incredibly flexible, but nothing is as fun as a Devour-lock. That said, I'm really looking forward to the new solar Warlock Super in Forsaken. I always loved the support role played by a Defender Titan in D1, and that new subclass path looks even better.

We'll ask around about NLB, but we still have an emotional scar from the time Xûr sold it five times in two months. Anything else you would like to add?

Root Team: Whether you are a small group of friends playing Destiny 2 together or a clan of over 1,000 Guardians, Charlemagne helps make the game more fun. She keeps you posted on the latest news about the game and lets you see where you stand against your friends and clanmates. She helps you plan raids and Trials runs with your clanmates. She continues to evolve and has new functionality added every week. We hope you enjoy her as much as we have enjoyed the process of creating her and making her available to other people as passionate about Destiny as we are.

If you want more information about Charlemagne and what this helpful robot can do for you and your clan, visit https://warmind.io. We would like to thank the creators of Charlemagne for stopping by to tell us more about their creation. We're always searching for members of the community to celebrate. If you have someone in mind, let us know by suggesting them on our Community forum using the #CommunityFocus tag.

Dear Bungie, and Community who may be new, multiple times in D1 our currencies were rendered useless by an expansion. If that is going to happen again, I'd like to know. Would you?

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 11:21 PM PDT

Some of these matter more or less to some people. Some changes could vastly effect some people, like if all of a sudden all the mod components you've been gathering for mods 2.0 suddenly became useless, but the mods themselves were able to be broken down into a new valuable item in the fall. That would certainly effect how you play for the next few months, wouldn't it? I'd certainly be holding on to my mods more closely. These are the types of changes Bungie has made in the past, how will they effect us this time? I would like to know.

  1. Weapon Materials

  2. Weapon Telemetry

  3. Masterwork Cores

  4. 3 of Coins

  5. Raid Tokens

  6. Planetary Tokens

  7. Mod components

  8. All of our old mods

  9. Planetary materials

  10. Shaders

0 Teleport Savathuns Song Prestige Nightfall Boss

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 07:39 AM PDT

Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUYra2swTbI

We managed to instakill the Prestige Nightfall Boss in Savathuns Song. We used 2 Novabombs and 1 Hammer Titan with the Modifiers Void Singe and Heavyweight. By combining Melting Point, Tractor Cannon and Void Singe we got a x2.8125 Buff on our Novabombs. Those put him to very low and we finish him off with Shotguns. The Damage Buff on those was 6.18 (which the cap in the game).

Looks Like My Game Doesn't Want Banshee to be Selling Weapons Anymore

EDIT: For a bit of context, I was playing around either on Titan or EDZ and I think I had entered a Lost Sector as there was a Public Event starting. For some reason, the indicator didn't go away as I entered the sector. Once it was looted, I went to the tower, still didn't go away, and thought that this would be a funny screenshot to take.

Destiny lacks social features

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 02:15 AM PDT

It's so frustrating that bungie doesn't give us an lfg board Ingame. Bungie clearly thinks that using their companion app is the way to go but it clearly isn't. I don't want to use a second page or an app to get people to play with. Everything should be Ingame. Voice and chat are disabled by default and many people don't even notice. IIt would make raiding far more accessible.

Some people say raids should have matchmaking and i think the better solution is to make socializing easier and better. Let us meet people and talk with them. It's so dumb that if you play heroic strikes that no one talks. And in pvp it's even more bananas that voice chat isn't auto enabled. No one talks in this game.

The game would be so much better with better social features starting with people joining voice chat and text chat at default and having an actual lfg tab or board in game. Let there be a board in the tower similar to monster hunter world

It's been said before, but Exotic engrams NEED to be powerful gear drops.

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 05:29 PM PDT

Title.

Edit: A lot of people are saying that Exotic engrams drop too often for this, and it would make it too easy to level up. I don't agree that they are dropping as often as people say, but I do think the drop rates should also be tuned down.

Misrepresentation

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 10:00 AM PDT

I've seen this far too many times in the last 2 days for a simple distinction:

Time-gated content is content that is in the game, but not available to players until a certain amount of time has passed. The best example of this in Destiny 2 is the Nascent Dawn quest line. You can only complete 1 step per week, and at the end of the 4th step, you get Polaris Lance.

Time-limited content is content that is only available in-game for a set period of time. Examples of this include, but are not limited to: Trials, Iron Banner, Faction Rally.

Stop posting with titles complaining about time-gated when you're complaining about time-limited!

What do you guys LIKE about Destiny?

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 04:15 AM PDT

DISCLAIMER: This is the first time I've been fully invested in the game. I recently bought D2 and the expansions through the humble monthly deal and have been playing it nonstop. ive got the itch

I bought D1 when it first released, but I was in school and playing sports and just couldn't put in the time required to grind and get good gear (plus none of my friends played) so I reached about 200LL and stopped playing.

I've been having a blast on D2 so far, and joined this sub for news/tips/tricks about the game, as well as to join a community. But all I've seen is complaints and reasons why the game is so broken/things that need to be fixed. It's interesting to see such a large community be so disappointed with a game, yet still play it.

Is it because I'm new to it? What are some things that you all actually LIKE about the game, that keep you playing?

Mida Multi-tool's catalyst is extremely underwhelming for the grind you have to put in.

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 10:12 AM PDT

Outlaw? That's it? Bungie. What r u doin bby?

  • This gun NEVER had a reload issue.

  • This gun has difficultly competing in the current sandbox. The catalyst should have somewhat rectified this.

  • It is a precision weapon. Why not reward those with an accurate shot by applying Rampage? This would allow it to contend with Graviton and the upcoming random rolls meta. Sure, it may spark stacking of Mida. But we're already there yet again.

  • My strafe is what makes the weapon somewhat effective. But certainly, not a viable dueling weapon in the Competitive Playlist.

  • The grind to acquire this catalyst feels like someone pulling a hangnail...without any milk.

Fully Masterwork exotic should unlock a new ornament for that weapon/armor.

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 12:58 PM PDT

While some of these catalyst are hard to get and even harder to complete, completing one fully should also unlock ornaments that set them apart from other weapon/armor skins.

We should get Faction tokens from doing Escalation Protocol

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 06:29 PM PDT

Even if it's only 1-2 per round, EP is technically a public event when Mars is the Flashpoint planet. May as well give us tokens like a public event. With as little time as some have to grind tokens each week, why make EP less attractive by not offering tokens?

API Update: Armsweek confirmed, Exotic Catalyst Sources & Requirements revealed

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 04:42 PM PDT

Today's API update revealed the sources of 8 exotic catalysts that were previously unknown. It appears 5 will come from participating in Armsweek (previously hinted at in the files, but this is the most overt confirmation that it will actually be a thing). The remaining 3 will be tied to raid & raid lair prestige modes:

Here's the list

Catalyst Source Upgrade Requirements Upgrade Effect
Legend of Acrius Found in the greatest challenges aboard the emperor's craft. (Prestige Leviathan) Unknown, but requires 300 of whatever the goal is Faster reload, larger Magazine
Fighting Lion Found by engaging in activities during the celebration of deadly craftsmanship. (Armsweek) Defeat 1,000 enemies and complete the Nightfall strike "The Pyramidion" during Armsweek with Fighting Lion equipped to unlock this upgrade. Faster Reload
Hard Light Found by engaging in activities during the celebration of deadly craftsmanship. (Armsweek. Worth noting this is an Omolon weapon if foundries end up mattering) Complete the Nightfall strike "Savathûn's Song" during Armsweek with Hard Light equipped to unlock this upgrade. (Also shows 1,000 requirement... possibly will be the same as Fighting Lion and the files aren't 100% yet) Increased Stability
The Prospector Found by engaging in activities during the celebration of deadly craftsmanship. (Armsweek. Worth noting this is a Tex Mechanica weapon if foundries end up mattering) Defeat 500 enemies and complete the Nightfall strike "The Arms Dealer" during Armsweek with the Prospector equipped to unlock this upgrade. Increased Blast Radius
Rat King Found by engaging in activities during the celebration of deadly craftsmanship. (Armsweek) Defeat 1,000 enemies using Rat King to unlock this upgrade. (Also shows a Nightfall Completion is required but does not specify which) Increased aim assist, reduced recoil
Sleeper Simulant Found in the greatest challenges of the astral pinnacle. (Prestige Spire of Stars) Unknown, but requires 500 of whatever the goal is Charge time reduced
SUROS Regime Found by engaging in activities during the celebration of deadly craftsmanship. (Armsweek. Worth noting this is obviously a SUROS weapon if foundries end up mattering) Defeat 300 Crucible Enemies and complete Strange Terrain Nightfall during Armsweek. Improved recoil and kills always grant health
Telesto Found in the greatest challenges of the planet devourer. (Prestige Eater of Worlds) Unknown, but requires 500 of whatever the goal is Larger Magazine

Adding catalysts to prestige raiding definitely will give an incentive to run the higher difficulties. Here's hoping there's more to hunt than just the catalysts though. It's also exciting to see the return of Armsday as Armsweek. Presumably this will all be part of the July update, so we ought to be hearing more from Bungie on the details in the next few weeks.

EDIT: Activity defintions with the term "Armsweek" in them reveal some more about the event (thanks /u/Seeker80)

FWC ornament super kills shared across fireteam

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 04:42 AM PDT

The FWC arms ornament for getting kills with your super is shared across the fireteam if you're all on the same class.

Discovered it yesterday when I looked at my arms and had 2% despite not using a super yet. Turns out someone in my team did it. Definitely worked with Nova bombs, didn't actually test all of them, but made getting 100% a lot easier.

Wearing S2 ornaments makes me proud

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 07:55 AM PDT

With S3 being a course correction and S4 looking to be an essential rework, I think back on the darker days. Reminds me of this guide that helped all of the Guardians that kept faith. My favorite S2 ornament has to be the IB chest armor. It isn't as pretty as the S3 IB ornament but I'm glad to have participated. As a solo Warlock running Arc Attunement of Elements, that chest ornament grind was amazing. I remember waking up an hour and a half before the end of the last IB of S2 and getting the last 3 Challenges for the Arm ornament too. It was intense.

Bungie still has plenty of work and we do too. Keep providing constructive feedback on everything you enjoy or hate and have fun everyone.

Thanks for the support and community.

Edit: tbh just looking for other D1 warlocks to reminisce with

For next season's faction rewards, bring back exotic class items!

Posted: 27 Jun 2018 07:20 AM PDT

Title. For those that don't know, in Destiny 1, each faction had exotic class items that you earned through quests. To get the quest, you had to reach a certain rank with whichever faction you wanted. The class items had the perk called "the life exotic" which allowed you to wear another exotic armor piece with the exotic class item, retaining both buffs. I think this would help to keep faction loot relevant by adding in more powerful rewards that we can grind towards. They also looked super cool in d1, so this would help with the "better looking class items" request that's been made a few times on this sub.
