Battle Royale for CS:GO - And the surprising amount of evidence for it. Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:34 AM PDT Hey everyone! The idea of a BR gamemode for CS:GO has been widely debated for a while in this subreddit, especially with the addition of games like FortNite and PUBG to the Shooter market. But there may be evidence proving VALVe has been making a BR gamemode even before PUBG and FortNite BR were released.   Today, I want to talk about the gamemode "Survival" You may not know of this gamemode, unless you like playing with ConVars. On May 31st 2016, a update was shipped, that at first, seemed like small QOL changes, better camera paths, APIs for Major Pickems, etc. But, unseen in the patch notes[1], there was a lot hidden from the players. I will list some important ones here, before talking about the ones we care about: Added refernces to Gloves Added refences to Sprays Added refence to Adrenaline, which was later turned into the Medi-Shot A new ammo, arrows, was added. Also, below, you can see a compound bow added. Added references to entity spawn codes to MK2 Grenade (weapon_mk2grenade), Compound Bow (weapon_bow),Money (Item) (item_money), Money Bag (item_moneybag), Sonar Pulse (item_sonarpulse) and Fists (weapon_fists), CrateBeacon (item_cratebeacon) Note: The crossbow can also fire grenades[2] A tilegen gamemode was added. It will show as a convar if you use gamemode wrong.   Now for the ones related to Battle Royale. The following ConVars were added: mp_survival_focuspoint_radius_scale mp_survival_num_beacons_high mp_survival_num_beacons_low mp_survival_num_beacons_medium mp_survival_phase_length The following prop models were added: models/props/props_br/br_beacon/br_beacon.mdl models/props/props_br/br_sonar/br_sonar.mdl The files also include currently non-exist localization tokens such as #SFUI_Notice_SurvivalLastPhaseNotice #SFUI_Notice_SurvivalNextPhaseNotice which also contain "survival" in their name. These hint at a storm, or similar way of closing the map as time passes in BR. The October 10, 2016 update (1.35.5.3rc): A new map was added to mapautocompile.txt. This map, Island, had survival as its prefix (survival_island). map: survival_island vbsp: vvis: -mpi vrad: -mpi -hdr -textureshadows -staticproppolys -StaticPropLighting -final other: navanalyze=false Redditor EternifityPCMR calims that this map in in development.
