When to abandon offlane

Posted: 07 May 2018 01:14 PM PDT

I was playing a game as a solo offlane axe against a sven, wd, rubick lane and started chain feeding to their 3 stuns + maledict. Im a very stubborn person and a strong believer in holding the supports in my lane so mid and safelane can win, so I refused to go jungle. I tried my usually shenanigans running around in the trees and fucking with aggro, and I still managed be level 6 by 9 minutes, but I fed 8x in the process.

My mid and safelane ended up getting really huge and stomping the game, but I feel like they kind of won in spite of me. Should I have abandoned lane to go jungle and if so when? Also, in general, what are the conditions where it becomes more important to stop dying as an offlaner than it is to hold the supports in your lane?

Current Zues Build?

Posted: 07 May 2018 07:59 AM PDT

I recently pick up the joy play Zues. Just sit back and nuke. So I wonder if anyone has an interesting way to build the hero with the new patches.
Currently, I start with 3 clarities, 2 sets of tango, and 2 gauntlets (for soul ring later). Then I proceed to build soul ring, arcane. I will then choose between aether lens or eul depending on the need for dispel/disengage, I feel like if they are targeting me most of the time, I really need to dispel and buy some time for teammates to react or reset the fight, so extra range doesn't help much.
After that, it is usually aghs then blink then refresher/octarine depending game and farm. If i need to have control and quickly bust down someone, I go refresher. If I need to sustain the nuke and engage in prolonged fight, then I go octarine.
Oh and the talents are currently:
Lvl 10: 20% Exp
Lvl 15: +40 Movement speed
Lvl 20: +0.5 stun bolts (still wavering about this, feel like the cooldown can help better).
Lvl 25: +135 damage from lighting arc.
What do you guys think?

TA boots question

Posted: 07 May 2018 08:09 AM PDT

I think phase boots is usefull to chase enemy hero before dagger. I can't treads switch with TA. Phase boots provide damage which TA need to kill enemy quickly. How is TA treads switch important? How is attack speed from treads affect your play?

What do u guys think about support zeus?

Posted: 06 May 2018 08:27 PM PDT

I've been seeing a lot of zeus support picks in ancient 5 and ive been wanting to try it. Can someone tell me what can he do during the laning phase if he goes support except for bolting the offlaner? And what item does he go for?

Can someone do an in-depth description of what a well executed Ember Spirit game should look like from start to finish?

Posted: 06 May 2018 08:36 PM PDT

Bonus points if you can:

  • Describe a good "comeback" game
  • Do it for both phys and magic builds

What should I focus on to improve as a mid player?

Posted: 07 May 2018 06:23 AM PDT

I've been playing Dota casually on and off for a few years now and I've always been a mid player, I play aggressively and love to be the determining factor between a win or a loss.

So how do I actually improve and climb MMR in this Pos 2 role? Are there specific mechanics I should be practicing?

As I said I do like to play aggressively and make things happen, so I think the downfall there, for me, is I probably drop off in farm while hunting kills through the mid game and then if I can't get my team to end the game, I just end up not really having an impact at all later because their cores have caught up.. and in 2k, most games go like that. It's very painful to have a good start, and decent impact to just dropping off completely.

I've seen a lot of players spam specific heroes to climb fast, but that's not what I'm looking for. Because I feel like I'm just going to end up back where I was when I get bored of that constant pick.

Feel free to check my DotaBuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/147135189

You'll note my results are inconsistent, which is frustrating and also why I'm posting..

Also, thanks to those whom helped me with my Invoker post. Much appreciated, a lot of info to soak in.

Windranger items post aghs?

Posted: 06 May 2018 09:27 PM PDT

So as far as windranger builds go I, and most other players, go Phase > Maelstrom > Blink > Aghs. This build is pretty much the go to no matter what but I find that after aghs I'm kind of lost. Do I go for defensive items? More damage? Utility? Any advice or any games to look at for itemization on windranger would be helpful.

(P.S. I am talking about mid windranger)

Re: game 4 liquid vs LGD.

Posted: 06 May 2018 04:40 PM PDT

4k shitter here. In game 4 of the finals(do or die game), LGD had tusk, doom, shadow shaman , DP and slark as their carry. Liquid had Axe, WD, lesh, gyro and a final pick.. they picked Kunkka ...

My question is : why don't liquid pick Void or bloodseeker to counter the slark? Why tf kunkka? So sad when I see kunkka pick.. Void can go safelane or off, blood can go mid (shits on DP) or safe (and let gyro mid)..

Is it because: 1. No one on liquid can play those two heroes competently? (I doubt so. They are quite mechanically simple ) 2. Those heroes are weak and non-meta? 3. Some other reason my 4k shitbrain can't comprehend?

Could anybody playing at a higher level or analyses a ton of pro games enlighten me?
