[BotW] Riju's age confirmed

Posted: 27 May 2018 01:15 PM PDT

http://pocketseizure.tumblr.com/post/174064655604?is_related_post=1

We wanted to make a strong narrative impact by using a wide variety of scenarios, so when we decided to make Riju a child it was because we were primarily thinking of creating a good balance with the other tribal leaders. Riju respects Urbosa immensely, and she wears some of the adornments that belonged to her ancestor in her own outfit. She's roughly around twelve years old, but she gives off a more grown-up impression because the Gerudo mature faster than Hylians. Riju puts great care into behaving with the dignity suitable for the leader of the Gerudo, but we thought we'd like to show her still being a bit childish and girly, so we put Sand Seal stuffed animals in her room and a stylized Sand Seal design on her skirt.

Sheikah Armour Link [OC]

Definitive proof that Link is strong enough to lift the Statue of Liberty

Posted: 28 May 2018 08:53 AM PDT

Link in Breath of the Wild has a huge inventory, but just how much weight is he actually able to carry? Let's find out.

Weapons: Link's max weapon inventory is 11 swords, 8 bows, and 16 sheilds. Assuming each weapon weighs around 10 lbs to be comfortably weilded by link, this adds up to 350 lbs. Additionally, he carries his sheikah slate and paraglider at all times which I will say weigh one pound each.

Armor: according to Google the average fabric outfit weighs two pounds, while metal armor weighs fifty pounds. Using this I calculated Link's total armor weight to be around 200 lbs.

Rupees: I'm using a low estimate and assuming rupees are somewhat smaller than their in game icon, possibly similar in size to a real-world ruby. I reasoned that a pound of rupees would be about 100 rupees. With the in game rupee max of 999,999, a full wallet would weigh 10,000 lbs.

Now onto collectable items like food and crafting materials. There are about 150 types of items in BOTW, with each one maxing out at 999. I'm using the weight of an average apple (.33 lbs) as a base weight for regular sized items. Some are heavier, like meat and machine parts, while others are lighter, like bugs and flowers. I'm assuming it averages out. If you take 999 of 150 items at a third of a pound each it works out to roughly 50,000 lbs. There is one item type that is significantly heavier though...

Ore: the average piece of ore would weigh around fifty pounds based on my research. There are seven kinds of ore, excluding flint which would be much lighter. Link can hold 999 pieces of each ore type. This works out to 350,000 pounds.

Meals: we'll say that the typical zelda meal would probably weigh a half pound, with some meals like steaks weighing more and others like baked apples weighing less. There are 60 unique meal slots and link can carry 999 for each meal. This would work out to 30,000 pounds of meals.

Carried objects: finally we have the weight Link can carry in-game outside of his inventory, such as boulders, ice cubes or bombs carried above his head. Based on Link's general build and the fact that we see him carrying relatively large rocks, I'll say he can lift about 100 pounds above his head, which is pretty normal for a fit and healthy male.

Now we add everything up:

352

200

10,000

50,000

350,000

30,000

100

The total comes out to 440,652. An object of comparable weight is the Statue of Liberty, weighing in at 450,000 lbs according to nyctrip.com. If Link is still able to run and jump while carrying his 440,000 pound inventory, it's not unreasonable to assume he could take on Lady Liberty's extra 10,000 pounds with relative ease. This is of course assuming he wasn't already carrying everything else in his inventory at the same time and was completely naked.

Bonus: a Famitsu article determined that Link weighed as much as 8.5 apples, which would work out to about three pounds. This means Link can carry 150,000 times his body weight, surpassing the real world record holder for strength relative to body mass (the dung beetle) by almost tenfold.

The amazing true ending of botw

Posted: 28 May 2018 02:13 AM PDT

I've heard that people have been unhappy with the ending of botw and the true ending as it doesn't really add to much to the story or wrap things up that much but I'd beg to differ.

You can go through the entire game without collecting any memories (as I did my first play through) and get the underwhelming ending as she asks do you really remember me. I had at this point probably sunken in 40 hours and didn't feel satisfied with the ending at all. I then gathered all memories and got the true ending and that too felt a bit underwhelming as they just spoke to each other and not much more happened.

But that's the brilliant part as the ending does tie together links and zeldas relation, but that's not the best part. The true magnificence of the ending is the music! The entire game has this really minimalistic piano music and little throwbacks to older themes, rito village, riding at night will give you a short version of the original theme song, the stables have that short zeldas lullaby, sometimes when you're on a mountain you can hear what sounds to be clock town theme and more.

When you finally come to the end and the original theme starts playing I get chills. The music then continues to build up with more instruments joining in to then silence down a bit for zeldas line where a sadder part with only piano and choir (in minor) . This is nice as it feels more like the rest of the games soundtrack when ¡BAM! the strings rise in and the full orchestra comes along to play the original theme. It gets me every time

Minish cap for 3DS?

Posted: 28 May 2018 06:16 AM PDT

Hey guys, do you think Nintendo will ever release Minish Cap on 3DS? I wanted to revisit it but it's not on the eShop and my 3DS is my only Nintendo system at the moment :/

I've been wanting a Legend of Zelda anime for years

Posted: 27 May 2018 07:04 PM PDT

After watching the "Link vs Pit" clip, I would really like to see Zelda as an anime (most preferably as a series). I don't think I would be too crazy about an original story, maybe I would prefer a retelling of one of the older games like Ocarina of Time.

Or even crazier, what if there was a Studio Ghibli X Nintendo collaboration for a Zelda film?

On which hand do Link, Zelda and Ganon wear the Triforce?

Posted: 28 May 2018 09:55 AM PDT

I checked the Ganon fight in Oot and there he has it on the right hand. What about Zelda and Link?

Do you know on which hand they are wearing the triforce in Oot?

Is it the same for every game?

Just now beat Link's Awakening for the first time, fresh take

Posted: 28 May 2018 01:30 AM PDT

Okay technically I knew all about the game and stuff, I just never played it yet.

But now I did, and wow. This game had such a charm to it, a lot of unique touches that just don't exist in a lot of the other games.

It's pretty primitive in a lot of ways, which is to be expected, and it's kind of cool to see how this game introduced a lot of things before they'd get refined later on.

The game kind of crescendo'd in quality. It consistently got better as it went, until I got to Level 8 and it started to drag a bit, then most of the endgame wasn't spectacular. Level 8 was too labyrinthine compared to Level 7, it felt a bit like overkill. And the final stretch... well there really wasn't anything to it. The game might as well be over once you beat Level 8.

But back to the positives, the last montage was very touching, and the boss fight was intense. I actually got down to my last half heart when I beat him, with the blue tunic on. It'd be so much more intense if I didn't have a potion but hey. Also I can say I didn't cheap out and use the boomerang, I beat him the hard way.

Oh and the music. The whole soundtrack feels very unique, even if some of the jingles got recycled in the Oracle games.

I'm really glad that I finally got to play this one. I... don't know if I'd put it in my Top 5 Zeldas, but it's a game I won't ever forget.

If any pre-BoTW 3D Zelda got a re-imagining which would you want?

Think Master Quest meets Link Between Worlds with a dash of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Feel free to copy this format for sharing your thoughts on each game.

Ocarina of Time ---

Majoras Mask ---

Wind Waker ---

Twilight Princess ---

Would you be interested in a zelda METROIDVANIA spinoff?

Posted: 27 May 2018 02:33 PM PDT

If Zelda were to create a metroidvania spinoff, perhaps even a crossover of Zelda and Bloodstained, would this be a popular game idea? Personally I think it'd be one of the most interesting games ever.
