It looks like the matchmaking algorithm isn´t doing a very good job. That´s why ranks don´t mean a lot in this game.

New operator idea: The gadget is a stepladder

Rule 10 on this subreddit should be reviewed. After arguing with a mod this is clearer to me and other content creators than ever.

Posted: 08 May 2018 09:11 AM PDT

I had a link removed from my post. When asked about what the issue was I was told that I wasn't allowed to link to the source of my clip (my YouTube video). Even if your channel is not monetised (like mine) apparently it's still not allowed because it could be.

Yet artists, 3D modellers, comic makers and such often link to their Instagram, Deviant Art, or Artstation pages within comments to direct people to their work. These channels often have links to a Patreon account yet as they're an additional link away this seems to fine even if they're exceeding this 9:1 rule.

I was told that because I didn't meet the 9:1 quota that I'm not considered a strong member of this community.

I feel that this quota only encourages people to repost or make low-effort threads such as this one.

I'd like to bring up as a subreddit we complained about this rule when they introduced it two months ago because of that very reason.

I don't mind playing ball and keeping up my quota. Especially as I take up to a month sometimes to make a single video but as more and more content creators do this just to keep to your rule that no-one wanted it'll only affect the sub negatively I feel as a result.

You can still post your videos, you just can't promote your own YouTube channel. If it's not about the money for you, this shouldn't be an issue. Link to full conversation

I mean come on really?

Yeah it's not about the money for me as I don't make anything from them but is it really too much to ask for some credit here? To be able to link people so they can find the source as opposed to uploading it purely to Reddit? It's unfair on content creator and not so far removed from how Facebook pages steal content and upload it directly so the original creator gets no views.

I'd like to mention this is in reference to linking to your own channel as the source in the comments is what's not allowed even though EVERY artist/comic maker does it video makers for some reason aren't allowed to. Sure you can see the watermark but we all know that a direct link is a lot more convenient for most people. Especially on mobile.

I don't mind playing by Rule 10 but all it means is I'm just going to have to post a lot more fluff if I ever want to show things that I make.

CASE IN POINT: https://www.reddit.com/user/SAU-SIEGE

Just get rid of this stupid rule so people can have the source if they want it.

TL;DR: Let us post in the comments a link to our channels at least. If you want OC so badly why can't those making it grow their channels?

EDIT 2: It'd also be nice if as opposed to removing comments you could give a heads up to whether or not you're going to respond to this.

The mods said when they introduced this rule:

The goal is for this to be as consistent as possible for an issue that often arises on mid to large subreddits.

And obviously this is failing as it's heavily biased towards art posts. So let's just scrub it or come up with a better way.

New Defender gadget idea: "chaff grenades"

Posted: 08 May 2018 05:03 AM PDT

Two ideas here for chaff for Defenders.

In the military they have chaff dispensers on aircraft as a defensive measure. Chaff is like aluminum foil confetti. When dispensed into the air this creates a cloud of false radar signature to confuse radar guided missiles.

Chaff grenades for Defenders in R6. These grenades are like smoke grenades for defenders, but have chaff added to them. The chaff would only cover the area of a smoke grenade. Glaz's scope can't see through it, and any defender moving in the smoke cloud can't be seen by a Lion scan. A few defenders could carry these chaff grenades.

A chaff dispenser for defenders could be a box like Mute's gadget. When activated, it fills the room or hallway with some type of chaff. Glaz's sniper scope cannot see through this cloud of chaff. The room full of chaff also blocks Lion's scan: attackers would only see a cloud of chaff that fills the whole room, and not the body of any defenders inside that room, even if they move around inside the chaff cloud. It could also be used as a Lion decoy: you could activate it in an empty room to make attackers think defenders are inside a room. Effects are temporary and decline as the chaff dissipates and falls to the ground.

Just an idea.
