I am currently working on a tutorial for new players, help me make it as awesome as possible

Posted: 10 May 2018 10:52 AM PDT

Heya fellow tyrians

Lets face it, the game does not really explain itself all that well. There are many things that would make the game way better for some, but they never get told about it.

In order to fix that I am currently working on a tutorial. Well, not just a tutorial, but for example also a template for people that want to make videos about guild wars and so on.

Here it is

It is far from done, but I would be delighted about any feedback and even more so if people might actually want to help.

Besides that, I have also created a new guild designed to be an entry point for new players. Meaning that I go around on the beginning maps and try to answer peoples questions. If people are interested to assist me in this and help new players get into the game just write me a message.

Kind Regards, Rkoturdo Ndo (Rkoturdo Ndo.3264)

Edit: I've updated the site to include the first patch of suggestions

Fixed a bug that prevented players from equipping items from their shared inventory if it was full.

friendly reminder that Iboga is broken again in PvE

Posted: 10 May 2018 08:25 AM PDT

With the changes to confusion, Iboga is once again the highest dps pet. Depending on the bosses you can get up to 10k dps on heal druid camping Celestial Avatar.

Thats too much dmg for a full healer imo. This change also increases the dmg condi druid and power druid alot and might put condi ranger at similiar dmg output as condi soulbeast.

I mean, there is no point in bringing anything but druid when it does 4x the dmg of any other heal class on top of giving unique buffs in form of spirits and providing 25 might.

Edit. I was wrong. Its not because of confusion but because of consuming bite

Edit. 2: Here is a log from mursaat overseer cm where I played with full harrier gear

A very bizarre bug I discovered in Gendarran Fields...

Posted: 10 May 2018 11:58 AM PDT

Near the sunken chest in Gendarran Fields, on the surface of the water, there is a flower that is only visible at certain angles. If you swim inside or float above that flower on a skimmer... somewhere between 6 and 16, averaging 9ish, level 26-32 "stabilize the rift" events spawn around the map, but only so long as you are inside the flower.

I tested this with someone that was already in the map when I discovered it, and a guildmate who loaded the game up after discovery and ported to me. Both were able to see the events on the map, however, my guildmate was unable to perceive the flower, although that may have been as simple as differing graphics settings.

The flower also periodically "swirls" similar to the effect from a skimmer spawning.

Screenshots, because proof: https://i.imgur.com/E6wkTiE.png https://i.imgur.com/eTBu38I.png

I did submit a bug report already, as I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen. It looks to be at the dead center of the map, so perhaps that's where the rift events are "stored" when not active? Really no idea, but, to quote my guildmate: "Well, ain't that just somethin."

Why isn't the new key in the wallet? Or aetherblade key too for that matter?

Posted: 10 May 2018 05:45 AM PDT

The new current event is all good and everything but...this is starting to go down the path that lead us to beg for a keyring in the first place. The key would have been fine if it only dropped from something specific, but it seems it drops from any enemy so i can already imagine more clutter in our bags.

Pls /u/LinseyMurdock don't let this slip into chaos again after you worked so hard on the material storage project and keyring.

I'm interested in hosting a giveaway this weekend, but need to gauge interest.

Posted: 10 May 2018 02:14 PM PDT

EDIT: This isn't the thread to post your wishes, that thread will be posted tomorrow =D

I don't play gw2 anymore and plan on uninstalling it. The game, the community and employees are incredible, so it's not a matter of bad blood! Before then however, I want to get rid of things the community can and will put to use more than my dormant account will. I don't know if the things I have are still highly valued but if they are to some that's great!!

Here's a screen cap of what will be up for grabs: Link

I wanna spread out what I've got as much as possible, but I also want it to be smooth and uncomplicated.

The plan:

Make a thread and have those interested post their player id and pick one item from each category (Top Tier, Middle tier and below, a list will be posted) and if their name is chosen they get whichever item from their wishlist is still available. The time frame would be from Friday at 8pm EST (00:00 UTC), have it close Saturday at 8pm EST (00:00 UTC) and Post the results on Sunday. I'm NA btw**.

This isn't a karma farm and I'm not looking for recognition. But I do hope it is somewhat of a success and get some nice things out of my inventory and into the inventories of some great players =D. Suggestions & Feedback are certainly welcome.

[SB³] Sb/SB SOULBEAST Benchmark 31.9k

Posted: 10 May 2018 04:33 PM PDT

The Benchmark

SB³ Updated for May 8 balance patch. I also have no idea why first half of video is slower than the second half.

The nerf to Spotter and Pinpoint Distribution hurt by about 1k DPS from less bleed crit procs, to 50 less condi stat from PD (about 400 DPS), to minor decreases from Empower Allies, and Frost Spirit.

The only change is I decided to just ditch the crystal and promote the Masterful Writ of Malice instead (which is why it seems the same to last time). It is a ~80 silver consumable, but unlike previous patch's gain of only 600ish, I noticed 800-1000 DPS difference while using it, which was enough to risk it's uptime for in my opinion. It still mirror's scholar's rule of 70% uptime before it's a loss so if you're unsure about maintaining your HP then by all means use the crystal to be safe.

This recording does have me using the F3, which still I believe is situational, and not apart of the core rotation. Out of 400 parses, the 4 that reached 31.9k, this was the only one to use F3.

I did manage to get a 32k parse, but the RNG involved was a literal miracle as it's the only 1 in 400 parses to break 32k. I almost cried when I realized it didn't record so all I have to show is a very sad screenshot. (https://i.imgur.com/QzS2Emr.png). Aside from that miracle, this began to average about 31.5k each time, but had a variance of up to 1k depending on RNG. I did play around with a LOT of different stat combinations, runes/sigils, traits, skills etc, but nothing came close to the original setup for myself.

Note that the ArcDPS report (and in-game ArcDPS) shows a different number than the built-in meter.

For the rotation:

You can probably tell rather quickly it's easy. Shortbow 2 and 4 should always be on cooldown as well as all your utilities.

You should pair your 2 instant-casts (Vulture Stance and Sharpening Stone) together with One Wolf Pack (.75s base cast; .5s quickness cast) so they always line up.

Viper's Nest: You will quickly realize that once the fight starts going your rhythm will change so it's up to you to realize where is best to use your trap that doesn't interrupt the flow of your rotation.

For the pet:

I only use the F2 (Lynx), F1 (Warthog). This is because the time it takes to cast the F3, you could have fired off enough autos to do the same amount of DPS, or it interferes with the CD of your other skills. The power that Light on Your Feet brings is strong enough to not use the F3 unless you are not flanking at the time, or want a little extra cleave (or quickness).

The Bristleback is a special case for fights with lots of adds to abuse the mechanic of your F1 as IE Xera will body-block all 9 bleeding projectiles whilst your F2 is a mini Sharpening Stone (very useful for ranged fights like VG Green Circles).

Put Death's Judgment back on rifle skill 4, but make it cost Malice instead of Initiative.

Posted: 10 May 2018 07:13 PM PDT

Deadeye's Rifle no longer benefits from Malice in PvE whatsoever. The elite spec's own weapon doesn't benefit from the elite spec's mechanic. It's just better to spam Three Round Burst and ignore Malice entirely.

The previous playstyle was not much better, just spammed Death's Judgment. I like the idea of spending Malice on a finisher ability, like combo points in WoW, but it severely needs to be detached from stealth.

Put it back on the main weapon bar and change the cost to Malice. Then we can use more than one skill in a rotation. (We can use two! Imagine a power thief build that gets to use two skills for max DPS!!)

[PvE] Heal Renegade Feedback

Posted: 10 May 2018 09:49 AM PDT

Ventari

The radius on the skills at the moment is 240 which is a bit too small especially if you have to heal when there's social awkwardness in fractals. Making the radius 360 would be a big QoL improvement.

Heal: Ventari's Will

  • I think this is fine but having it passively give regen instead healing would free up a trait (Nourishing Roots) since most people would want to take the modifier trait in that slot (Tranquil Balance)

  • Making it similar to scourge shades would also work i.e. your ventari skills work around the caster and your tablet. Obviously a player can only be affected by one of the two sources.

  • Increasing it's movement speed would also be a QoL in fights like SH / Cairn when people are split.

Utility: Protective Solace

  • The absorption bubble work well only additional change could be some sort of trait so that you can trait for reflection instead of absorption. However this does go against Ventari's Pacifist ways.

Utility: Natural Harmony

  • The delay of 2 seconds in healing is just plain annoying it prevents clutch healing someone who's about to die because they're down by the time the heal actually hits them.

  • The heal's potency is fine and alacrity is a nice, nothing to change here.

Utility: Purifying Essence

  • Low cast condition cleanse is nice, nothing to change here.

Elite: Energy Expulsion

  • It's clunky the knockback doesn't work half the time even when the tablet is placed inside hitbox of bosses.

Specialization: Salvation

At the moment the best choices in the traitline are just 3 different healing modifiers which isn't flavourful at all, moving one of the modifiers to a minor would allows some sort of situation based choices as most of the traits are underwhelming in PvE.

Renegade

This is purely from a support perspective and not a condition damage focused.

Why does the game check for pathing when placing spirits? it's not like you're going to shadowstep to the spirits please let us place them wherever we want.

Heal: Breakrazor's Bastion

  • The heal is nice and -50% condition damage is especially good in condition heavy fights like Soulless Horror and Matthias and Afflicted in fractals, one change would be to reduce the summon time to 0.5s or 0.25s.

Utility: Icerazor's Ire

  • Helpful in assiting kill trash mobs otherwise not really useful in anyway in the support build, application of weakness would be a nice addition.

Utility: Razorclaw's Rage

  • Helpful in condi builds and doesn't really contribute to the support build

Utility: Darkrazor's Daring

  • Helpful in controlling large amount of mobs by constantly interupting them. however due to the low daze duration it doesn't do much break bar damage

  • Addition of a trait to take advantage of the interrupts it can provide would be nice or someway to denotate the spirit and give a large CC instead of the channeled daze.

  • Having it pulse stability would also be a welcome change as the only other way of granting stability is through Jallis which doesn't have any heal-abilities to help your allies.

Elite: Soulcleave's Summit

  • Really nice in buffing team dps and helps maintain scholar bonus due to the life steal aspect of it nothing to change here.

Specialization: Renegade

  • Minors Endless Enmity and Burtal Momentum could both be changed to grant Fury / Vigour to nearby allies instead of just yourself.

  • Major Adept Trait Wrought-Iron Will requires you to evade to gain Kalla's Fervour which conflicts with the Minor that grants you increased Critical chance (Burtal Momentum)

  • No real trait for support in the Adept line for support.

  • Master Protection on summoning Warband is really nice

  • The grandmaster choice between granting additonal might or alacrity is also a good choice depending on the group composition.

Support Renegade is in an okay place now but could become meta if a few QoL changes were made to the class to help it more accessible.

Edit: One other thing that Ventari trait is missing is the revive trait that fits more in line with Ventari imo.

Any male Norn characters here? (Bring pictures!)

Posted: 10 May 2018 07:47 AM PDT

Male Norn is the only thing missing from my roster at the moment. I can't seem to find a way to make them work for me. Male Norn feel so slow and sluggish compared to other race/profession combos.

I thought to maybe embrace the slowness and make a Greatsword Reaper. Or perhaps make him absurdly fast and agile as a Staff Daredevil.

What have you accomplished with Male Norn? In your opinion, what armour class looks the best on them? Are you satisfied with the cultural armour? What profession/elite specialization do you feel has worked best when you've made male norn? :)

Possible pattern for Zeghai of the Lost

Posted: 09 May 2018 10:50 PM PDT

Over the last day I checked the info on here and the wiki and with over a day of data we can infer a possible 15-hour cyclical schedule. This is a prediction based on 4 locations which fit this pattern (The Grove, Rata Sum, Hoelbrak and Malchor's Leap).

Hour Location
1 Fields of Ruin
2 Hoelbrak
3 Metrica Province
4 Queensdale
5 Plains of Ashford
6 Malchor's Leap
7 Black Citadel
8 Gendarran Fields (Stonefish Beach)
9 The Grove
10 Blazeridge Steppes
11 Brisban Wildlands
12 Lornar's Pass
13 Diessa Plateau
14 Gendarran Fields (Applenook Hamlet)
15 Rata Sum
16 Fields of Ruin
... ...

At the time of writing this, 5:50 UTC, Malchor's Leap has been the last location. Using this schedule, the next known location is Gendarran Fields (Stonefish Beach), at 7:15 UTC.

edit: added new location

edit2: The full schedule is now known. You can find it at https://thatshaman.com/tools/zeghai/

Advice on a pve raid support build and class

Posted: 10 May 2018 07:55 PM PDT

Ok this might be a long one, but basically I'm after some advice since the druid heal nerf (either keep gotl and might and do pretty crap healing or take lingering light and do decent healing and crap might uptime). I am well aware that many raid groups say having 1 druid and no other support or healing is necessary, but I don't need those comments, please. I run a lot of raid trainings so have many inexperienced groups, and am also part of a progressing static group of mixed abilities and we really want to stick to 2 supports/healers.

So...I'm aware we could still go with 2 druids (1 full harrier and mostly offensive support with gotl, and 1 takes maybe magi gear and lingering light.) That's an option. However I was after some suggestions on varying the 2nd role. Just for a nice change if nothing else. If we keep 1 druid for offensive support covering might, spirits for the squad and spotter, and fury for their party. Then the 2nd option is open to suggestions. I have every class and elite spec and plenty of ascended gear to make up a build if there's one that looks good. What I'm looking for is not a complete overhealer like auramancer, but a class and build idea that does some decent-ish dps (on parr or more so than harrier druid), has some decent cc and must provide a lot of fury. (Stab, aegis, prot and assistance with might would also be nice bonuses.)

So I had some ideas; Firebrand could help with quickness 1 chrono can take moa and maybe something instead of recall, and not worry about quickness loss. It has strong healing, and feel my wrath for fury. However, it seems for the healing side of things u need to take harrier or magi gear and I'm guessing it wouldn't contribute much dps or offensive support? Engi med kit is amazing and so fun! I would love to try an engi healer..the heal scrapper posted on here recently looks amazing and can upkeep fury it seems, has cc, amazing healing. However maybe it's again overhealing and no dps since its harrier gear again and u camp med kit ? Can anyone think.of a nice engi hybrid build that bring some relatively nice dps but also good heals and good fury? Would love to hear ideas. And the one that is potentially most promising is a support renegade build from metabattle which lets me keep viper gear and mace/axe for some dps, but also some good healing and boon support. However I couldn't see anywhere about how good it is at fury upkeep. I decided to replace the nightmare trapper runes for altruism runes that give fury when using heal skills..which I will be doing regularly by moving the tablet on ventari etc. Is there a better idea or build for support renegade? Any other classes or build ideas? Sorry for the huge post but would love to hear ideas :)
