Fallout - What’s the perfect scenario to use X-cell?

What’s the perfect scenario to use X-cell?

Posted: 28 May 2018 05:26 AM PDT

Whenever I've found it in my game, due to it being so rare, I've been reluctant to use it until just the "right" time. The thing is I've never really come across the situation where I thought I've needed +2 to every special.

So I wondered if anyone has had good use (utilising each special skill) whilst under the influence of X-cell?

I too played Fallout 4 on Acid but had a much better experience

Posted: 28 May 2018 08:16 AM PDT

Obligatory I don't condone whatever drugs you may or may not choose to take. Minor Curie and Nuka World spoilers ahead as well.

I started off with taking one tab and finishing the USS Constitution quest, but it wasn't hitting so I took another. Went to a nearby park with my friend to wait for the tabs to kick in before heading back for more Fallout. The tabs kick in on the way back, fast forward to talking to Curie.

She reveals to me that she discovered how to make/improve stimpacks from Mutfruit, which in my drug induced state sounded incredible. I set her up at Covenant in a Mutfruit farm and as a doctor, but Curie's dialogue was sad because I romance'd her and she wanted to come with me. I was about to leave for Nuka World and I couldn't bring myself to leave her at Covenant. I was doing a Minutemen run through and that's when I realized how I needed to finish the game: Save the Commonwealth by releasing Mutfruit stimpacks upon everyone, murder all Nuka World Raiders, and bang Madame Curie all along the way.

Fast forward to the gauntlet, only thing that kills me is flying ants. After pretending to be their Overboss, I point blank shot Gage in the face with my Plasma Pistol at the Fizztop Grille, provoking a war with everyone. I got high luck and perception by this point, so I stood on the balcony of Fizztop critically headshotting tens of raiders while they exploded in caps, occasionally taking breaks by sleeping/banging Curie (Survival so only way to save.)

Fast forward again and release Mutfruit stimpacks upon the newly freed slaves in the Nuka World market. Probably my best conclusion to a DLC ever.

[NV] The welcome sign in Cottonwood Cove uses the font from Banjo Kazooie.

See for yourself

It matches up a little too well. Very cool. Maybe the developers thought it sounded like area from Banjo Kazooie?

I thought Fallout: New Vegas is supppsed to be morally gray?

Posted: 28 May 2018 11:17 AM PDT

The game presents itself in a way thay all factions have their good and bad sides and everything is supposed to be in the gray area.

You kill legionaires, you gain karma. You kill NCR, you lose karma. That sounds pretty black and white to me.

I wish Edward Deegan was a companion.

Posted: 28 May 2018 09:58 AM PDT

He seemed so cool and the voice acting reminded me of the Batman Begins voice that Christian Bale did. Depending on what happens with the Cabot's, he leaves so it'd make some sense for him to follow you.

Also since he's from before The Great War, the Sole Survivor could have someone to talk to about pre war. And it'd be interesting to find more out about his backstory.

The Day I Decided to Play Fallout 4 on Acid

Posted: 27 May 2018 11:01 PM PDT

Just a disclaimer: I'm not condoning or glorifying drug use via this story. If anything, this is a cautionary tale.

So, its the Fourth of July, and my friend finds a some Acid that they forgot they had. I was having a bad day, and no money to party, so I figured I'd try it for the first time. "Why not? its a lovely, sunny day outside. Lets party!", I reasoned to myself as the tab dissolved in my mouth. After hanging out outside for a while, my partner suggested I play a video game, so naturally I started up Fallout 4. I was pretty into the game so far (like, Level 10), and figured what could go wrong?

I wound up going back to Sanctuary, since I was over my weight limit and couldn't fast travel. I didn't have any traders setup at my settlement, so I had to do the resting thing and waited around 36 or so in-game hours, until Trashcan Carla arrived. After laughing for FAR too long about calling her "Trashjam Darla", "Cashvans Jarla", and several other variations on her name, I opened up the trading menu.

Still being new to the game, I forgot that traders have a certain amount of caps on-hand, and this was where all the trouble began. For almost two hours, I proceeded to trade ALL my junk and extra loot to her, then scanning her inventory for things I wanted to buy, only to realize she had run out of caps well before I had offloaded my inventory. When I would realize what I did, I would start the process over. I can't even count the amount of times I did this exact same process, only to cancel out of the menu and start again.

I didn't realize this until the two hour mark, and then it dawned on me (in my drug-induced stupor) that this was just a crude imitation of life: the same processes over and over and over, on repeat.

Forever. We were born into it, and it never ends.

I didn't sleep till around five in the morning because of this revelation, and couldn't enjoy the game for at least like, six months.

TLDR VERSION: That DARE disclaimer on arcade machines was right: "Winners DON'T use drugs!"

Who do you wish was a companion? {Spoilers}

Posted: 28 May 2018 09:18 AM PDT

The Fallout games often have great and memorable companions - but do you ever wish that there were some NPCs in the games who you could travel with?

I have ideas for New Vegas and 4:

  • Benny (New Vegas) - You would only get him if you freed him from the Legion. He would be a very Pro-Independence companion. Potential romance with female Courier.

  • Vulpes Inculta (New Vegas) - You would get him if you have a good reputation with the Legion. He would push for the Courier to help Caesar take the Hoover Dam. No romance option.

  • Victor (New Vegas) - You would get him if you help Mr. House. As such, he would advocate for the Courier to go that route. No romance option (because that would be really weird).

  • Vault-Tec Rep (4) - You would get him as a companion if you got him to come to Sanctuary. He would often talk about what life was like before the war and what it was like working for Vault-Tec. No romance.

  • Zao (4) - Only if you helped him fix his submarine. He would be fascinated in seeing what America became after the war, and as such would get new perspectives and insights on things as he traveled with you. He would also tell you a bit about life in China. No romance.

  • Zeke (4) - Once you help the Atom Cats fight off the Gunners, you'd be able to travel with him. Like Paladin Danse, he would always wear Power Armor. He'd often voice his opinions on the most random things, as well as recite poetry to himself - even in the middle of battle. Potential romance with male or female Sole Survivor.

  • Sierra Petrovita (4) - If you sided with her at the end of "Cappy In A Haystack," you'd be able to travel with her. She would often advise the player to look for Nuka Cola, and talk about her time in the Capital Wasteland. No romance.

  • Isabel Cruz (4) - Only if you kept her alive at the end of Automatron. She'd keep on her Mechanist armor and would use a laser pistol. She would also occasionally give the player materials so they could make more robots. Potential romance with male or female Sole Survivor.

  • Erickson (4) - Would act as a guide to the player throughout Far Harbor. Would be a tank-like companion, with high Strength and Endurance, often switching between a laser rifle and melee attacks. No romance option.

That's all I've got. What about you guys?

Fallout New Vegas> Fallout 3 ?

Posted: 28 May 2018 09:06 AM PDT

So I've been playing a lot of fallout 3 and NV lately, and I wandering: why do most people say that fallout NV is better then 3? Cause I can't really find anything that big of a difference, or something that NV did better than 3, except it's less buggy. So can you guys explain why you like NV more than 3, if that's the case.

Oh and I don't know if this post should be considered a spoiler, so I'm sorry if you spoiled. :x

Who are you in Fallout?

Posted: 28 May 2018 07:48 AM PDT

What I mean by that is your choices and actions in the game. Are you a sniper who can charm anyone? Or are you an asshole with a shotgun? What is your survivor in Fallout?

Vault-Tec Modle 250-A: conceptual design

Posted: 28 May 2018 11:31 AM PDT

https://www.behance.net/gallery/66136705/Vault-Tec-Modle-250-A

Some of you might remember this project from last year: I eventually got in contact with a cosplayer on facebook, and gave him some thumbnails of photos I hoped he could pose for. I would then render my design over his wrist in keyshot, and clean it up with Photoshop. The 3D model was made in Rhino. I'm trained in Industrial Design, but one day I aim to be a concept artist!

Posted: 27 May 2018 07:27 PM PDT

ive seen 60 year old military ration videos on youtube, now multiply that time by 3 and add 20 more years on top of that. this food should kill anyone who eats it. and here we got the sole survivor over here eating cram out of garbage cans.

Paul Pembroke randomly appearing dead

Posted: 28 May 2018 08:39 AM PDT

For some reason in my game (and several different playthroughs), upon completion of Diamond City Blues I will find Paul dead at the site of the chem deal. This occurs even if he lives, gets the chems and the bar to himself. He'll be laying dead at the site of the chem deal wearing his fancy new clothes... what gives?

A theory on these one-day CC pipboy skins at double the normal cost.

Posted: 28 May 2018 08:36 AM PDT

Mind, this is pure speculation- I think someone screwed up.

I think they meant to give the first once a 100% markdown for one day, but typed '100' into the wrong text box. Then it sold well, and they decided to just roll with it.

I could be completely wrong, but it's a possibility.

Never used any chems!(sorta)

Posted: 28 May 2018 03:46 PM PDT

So as the title states, i never used any chems. Looking back I wish I would have used chems to at least see how the game changes. I spent at least 300 hours playing the game and only used Jet maybe 2-3 times, given the fact that I played the game for such a long time I dont remember what extra benefits i was briefly given. I think becoming addicted scared me, but later in the game it hit me that there was a cure for addiction in game. Kinda bummed out, but it is what it is.

Is there any surefire way to become vilified/disliked by both NCR and Caesars Legion

Posted: 28 May 2018 03:22 PM PDT

I'd like to get the Yes Man courier duster at the end of Lonesome road, but I'm not sure about my current karma. Caesars Legion I'm a soft hearted devil, and in the NCR and I'm a smiling troublemaker. Now I don't know how any of this makes sense, because I'm pretty much a fuckin war criminal. I wiped out the entire fort and killed Caesar, and I activated a superweapon and desintegrated a platoon of NCR soldiers at Helios One. What else can I do to lower my karma with these factions? Also, I'll probably need to lower it for the strip as well. Probably just pull a No Russian in the ultra lux casino.

Potential of Fallout 3 on the Switch?

Posted: 28 May 2018 03:50 AM PDT

Hey guys,

So in the lead up to E3 I've been reading up about what Nintendo could surprise fans with. I think we can all agree that Bethesda seems really keen on supporting the Nintendo Switch; Skyrim and Wolfenstein 2 coming out on it prove that. This year marks 10 years since Fallout 3 so do you guys think they could surprise us all and re-release it?

Nothing would bring a smile to my face more than wandering the Wasteland while sitting on the train during my commute.
