Cocktail Chemistry - "Atomic Cocktail" from Fallout: New Vegas Posted: 10 May 2018 06:38 AM PDT Here I take a crack at recreating the drink before heading back to old Vegas to make the original Atomic Cocktail. [link] [comments] |
The Mysterious Broadcast has nothing to do with Old World Blues for me. Posted: 10 May 2018 07:33 AM PDT I know the Mysterious Broadcast is meant to be what "draws" the courier to the crashed satellite, but for me it became my Dead Money Anthem. It was the only radio station you could listen to in the Sierra Madre, so that ended up being all I listen to when I play DM. And it works with the theme of the DLC! It would be horribly out of place in Honest Hearts, but for me it's perfect for Whenever I hear it, I think of Dean, God, and Christine, not the Think Tank or the Big Empty. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 May 2018 08:09 AM PDT So, i've noticed this before, plenty of times, in the goodsprings cemetery, if you turn off the music, you can hear whispers... it's bloody spooky, i even put it into my roleplay and fired off a few rounds shouting "Come on out!" Spookiest part about this is... I can't really think of why they added this in, it has no bearing on the rest of the game, it's just there to be spooky... i find it pretty cool that they added in a little mystery there. Who are these dead folks? there aren't many graves in goodsprings, though, which gives me the impression that there's a deeper part to the cemetery. [link] [comments] |

I never use fast travel but walk everywhere Posted: 09 May 2018 10:48 PM PDT When starting first New Vegas playthrough I decided to ditch the fast travel. And boy, I think I will never use it again in any open world RPG The moment when you have to consider distance, the path you have to take with dangerous areas (e.g. walking up to Jacobstown), it adds to the whole experience and immersion. I felt more connected to the world and could better get the context of different locations, areas based on their distance from hubs and geographic position. And all the adventures while traveling, to be honest it never felt dull - Obsidian did great job when designing world and map layout. I think it is a form of environmental storytelling lot of people miss. I encourage you to maybe try it as well (P.S. I also went for "hardcore" mode but it didn't alter the experience much, I think) [link] [comments] |
What if I could pick up pip-boys? Posted: 10 May 2018 11:16 AM PDT I know the games were not developed to do so, but I find weird you can't take pip-boys from corpses or dead residents in vaults when browsing their belongings. Also, would a pip-boy be a good item for trading? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 May 2018 11:39 AM PDT https://kotaku.com/leaked-documents-reveal-that-fallout-4-is-real-set-in-1481322956 The article is from around 2 years before Fallout 4 was released: "One character in the documents—who, again, may not show up in the actual game—is named Preston Garvey. One script describes a mission in which Garvey sends you to salvage a fusion core from a museum in the Commonwealth (...) The casting documents describe some of the other characters in the next Fallout's wasteland, like a radio DJ named Travis Miles and an engineer named Sturges who is described as "a cross between Buddy Holly and Vin Diesel." Casting calls for both the male and female versions of the player character note that the player begins the game in a cryogenic sleep chamber." [link] [comments] |

Would Fallout Arizona be too redundant? Posted: 10 May 2018 03:09 PM PDT To begin I'm from Arizona so I may have some bias, but I think it'd be a great place to host a new Fallout. The Grand Canyon. Possible return of the Legion. The space observatory that found Pluto (Name escapes me right now) But New Vegas may have had a chunk of Arizona that was part of the Mojave. But theres still the capital of Phoenix, which would have been hit hard due to its population, the mountains in central Arizona. The Indian Reservation. Anywho, what do you all think? {Fallout 4 Spoilers} Just wondering something about Curie's personal quest Posted: 10 May 2018 12:55 PM PDT In order to successfully complete Curie's personal quest, and port her consciousness into a synth body, you need the help of Dr. Amari and Glory, both of which are allies/agents for the Railroad. What I wondering out of pure curiosity is what if you kill the Railroad with the Institute/Brotherhood before doing this quest? How is it different? I imagine you can still complete it, but, with Glory and the Railroad dead, how do manage to get Curie's new body? I've never killed the Railroad before and don't plan to (I like Deacon to much to do that), but I've always been curious about what happens if you do. So, for those who have killed the Railroad and THEN acquired Curie, how exactly do you her quest? [link] [comments] |
NV Mods For Enhancing Vanilla, But Not Completely Changing The Game Posted: 10 May 2018 01:51 PM PDT It's been around a year since I touched Fallout New Vegas however a couple screenshots later and I have an unbreakable urge to play this game. I don't want to play the game completely vanilla, so I'm looking for mods that change the game just enough to keep the NV charm and not utterly destroy the game with weird experimental features. For graphics mods, I do have a generally higher end PC, so I can run them, but again I don't want a mod that makes my game look as if Jesus Christ is reaching down from the heavens with it's brightness, or graphics mods that have a lot of problems I have to fix. How are there not only ghouls? Posted: 10 May 2018 08:11 AM PDT So I'm aware of vaults (and how a majority of them failed) but one thing doesnt make sense to me, how are there populations that are not ghouls? when a nuke drops, you either die or become a ghoul, because the range is a lot further than just the explosion. Even if it doesnt mess everybody up, it stills screws up a lot of people. Assuming that there are areas that were far enough from the blasts to be unaffected, why would the survivors stray towards radiation? Maybe its not explained in the games I've played, or maybe there's something I'm missing. [link] [comments] |
The greatest thing about the Fallout franchise Posted: 10 May 2018 12:16 PM PDT The greatest thing of the franchise at least for me is how each generation of games are different from each other. Going from 1 and 2 are nothing like 3 and New Vegas. Just like how 4 is nothing like the ones before. I think this sets up a pretty cool dynamic and gives a nice variety of games to choose from, all with their own pros and cons. The important part is the experience [link] [comments] |
If We Were to See Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in Fallout Posted: 09 May 2018 11:55 PM PDT Philly is my home. And much like most people here, I've imagined what my home would be like if it were to be seen in a Fallout title. If you're not too familiar with the greater lore of the Fallout universe, Pennsylvania was part of the Eastern Commonwealth. As of now, we've only seen the Pitt, which was formerly Pittsburgh, in Fallout 3. The condition of the rest of the state is unknown. However, according to Abraham Washington, a wayward scavenger was able to retrieve what he claimed to be a fragment of the liberty bell, which he sold to Washington for his display at Rivet City. If this information is to be believed, it could mean one of two things. On the one hand, the Scavenger was telling the truth and was able to traverse the Philly ruins with relative safety. Philadelphia could be similar to the Commonwealth in its current state. On the other hand, this Scavenger could have been looking to con an old man out of his caps and just handed him a chunk of what could pass as part of a copper bell. If this is true, then it could be that the scavver never set foot in the Eastern Commonwealth and that Philly is in no better state than the Pitt on the other side of the state. But let's assume just for now that the former is true. What does that mean for Philly in this post apocalyptic wasteland? It is a safe bet that Philadelphia is similar to the Capital Wasteland. As it was one of the worst hit states in the Great War, it is a safe bet that it has a considerable (if not terrible) mutant problem. It's a safe bet that there would be Super Mutants, Ferals and the usual mutated monsters we've come to know. However, it is also likely that we'd see some of the region's unique mutate flavor, such as Trogs or mutants we haven't seen before. Though we can't say for sure, it is doubtful that the region would see the same unity and security as is out west with the NCR and the Legion. We'd likely see scattered settlements that are largely independent outside of trade. Perhaps a small coalition could exist, but it seems unlikely given how most Fallout games set in the East start. If there were to be major factions, they would most likely be based in one of the City's major landmarks, such as the now removed Veterans Stadium. Though the stadium was demolished in 2004, Fallout's alternate timeline might see to it that it was never replaced with the current sports complex. It would also be plausible for a faction to put down roots in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The building could very easily be converted into a fortress if a faction so desired. It's easy to see a group like the Brotherhood of Steel setting up shop there. The city also boasts a Navy Yard full of decommissioned ships that once saw major service in WWII. However, given Fallout's alternative history is one of constant international warfare, it is a safe bet that the yard and the ships stationed there remained in service to the United States government until the apocalypse of 2077. It would not be hard to imagine settlers creating something akin to Rivet City there as well. If not, and the area was specifically targeted during the bombing, the area could be a radioactive swamp full of warped and scorched metal. As for the factions themselves (if we were to be given defined factions to work with), we'd likely see something similar to the Minutemen, though a more militant version that is more ruthless in its dealings given the assumed state of the region. It is possible we'd see some form of the Brotherhood of Steel about as well, either being an extension of the Capital or Midwestern Brotherhood (though the former seems more likely than the latter). Raiders would be a prevalent threat, with unique tribes like the Fiends or Great Khans kicking around smaller, independent groups. Or all of this could be wrong, and Philadelphia could be a living hell on earth like the Pitt, chock full of mutated horrors to drive men insane. But I hope not. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? Is FNV worth a revisit years later after playing FO4? Posted: 09 May 2018 11:37 PM PDT Wondering from those of you that have gone back, did it feel like playing Oblivion coming from Skyrim? [link] [comments] |
TIL that you get an achievement if you run to each of the bases in Diamond City Posted: 10 May 2018 03:56 PM PDT I found this really cool. As I was walking around Diamond City one of the guards said something like 'Hey buddy, you should try getting a home run'. So I found one of the bases, ran a lap round the centre of the city, and got a lil achievement for it! Found this super neat how little bits on NPC dialogue can open up the world. This is my first play proper through of FO4 and I'm really getting into it :) [link] [comments] |

Is Yes Man secretly a villain? Posted: 10 May 2018 03:15 PM PDT If you piss off the NCR and the Legion and side with Yes Man, at the end of the game General Lee Oliver comes up to you. You give him the what for with your words and you get a hard on seeing just how much power you have as the robots come up behind his troops. Then Yes Man comes up to you and says he found something that will change his personality "to be a little more assertive, basically." He does this all on his own of course without asking you, so it seems to me he is a rogue AI making his own decisions. So I thought, 'haha what the fuck could "assertive" mean?' And I got to thinking about a New Vegas, and maybe a world, run by a passive-aggressive rogue AI with a smiley face. [link] [comments] |
What is your opinion on the location of Fallout 4? Posted: 10 May 2018 07:38 AM PDT I think part of the reason Fallout 4 gets panned a bit is simply due to the location. Fallout 3 took you to Washington DC, the political center of the USA. Fallout NV took you out to Vegas, the gambling/party town of the country. Boston feels so...redundant? I feel like it's too similar to Fallout 3 without having the same feel of importance. The focus around revolutionary war and baseball really didn't sit well with me, as far as keeping the location interesting. I think NYC, somewhere in the deep south, Seattle etc would have all been much more unique and interesting choices. Just wanted to see what other people had for opinions. [link] [comments] |
Is the Frost mod worth the price of buying Nuka World? (I own all DLCs except for that) Posted: 10 May 2018 11:07 AM PDT I liked FO4 ok. I stopped playing it awhile back because of the shitty dialogue and repetitive missions. Recently I found out about the Frost survival simulator mod and it looks like it gives the game new life and I would love to try it out. But unfortunately you can't play it without owning all the DLCs. I don't plain on playing through Nuka world normally . I never even touched Automotran or Far harbor since I got tired of the game before getting there. So is the Frost mod worth the $20 for Nuka world? Or should I just wait for a sale? [Fallout 3] What’s a good place to set up base? Posted: 10 May 2018 11:03 AM PDT I'm kinda getting bored of my megaton house so I wanna set base up somewhere else. Do you know any places? My two picks are Gallo's place and Paradise Falls. If you have any more places tell me. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Am I the only one being nostalgic for the old heavy weapons' backpacks? Posted: 09 May 2018 05:20 PM PDT What I liked most about the aesthetics of heavy weapons in FO3 and FONV was that they were visually outstanding and made you look badass to the bone, with their large and encumbering look and their ammo/fuel backpacks, giving the real feeling such high power weapons were HEAVY. So I was kinda disappointed to see them disappear in FO4, now that we have been given really awesome tanky power armors. I know that there might be a sensible reason for them missing (such as diversity in armors/PA and customizations)...yet I still dream to see them back in next issues of the series or through mods (if there are already mods doing it for all the heavy weapons let me know, since I haven't found any yet). Especially the flamer got the biggest backlash in my opinion. One of my favourite weapons in FO3/FONV, for its backpack fuel tanks too, it is now one of my least used weapons in FO4 as I can't stand how the devs made it. "Absolutely disgusting" as Cait would say, the new flamer looks like some industrial tool designed by a kid, with the awful yellow caging, the red fuel tank attached to its belly coming out in angled direction....just awful compared to its predecessors, that instead looked far better and resembled actual flamethrowers. Did you notice this lack too or are you ok with it/think it's better? Let me know your opinions about it. EDIT: Posted a mod request in the r/FalloutMods requests' thread. Let's hope someone with the means to do this sees it and takes the task to make a mod for this. Fingers crossed. If you want to "help the cause" get there and vote my proposal/comment to it to support the idea and (maybe) capture the interest of someone capable of making the mod. I don't really want to be a clicks-beggar, so do it at your own free will and wish :) [link] [comments] |
