I'm 28 and just beat OoT for the first time today Posted: 07 Apr 2018 08:52 PM PDT Man, I am soo sad that as a kid I never got to experience this game past the first trial. The themes were awesome, the atmosphere were memorable and navi is an idiot. I love the different songs I got to collect with my ocarina and the different events I got to trigger depending on how far I progressed in the game. Now when I finally got to Ganon's Castle and his theme came up when we fought, thats when I got goosebumps! The battle music was by far one of my top 3 favorites in that game and I told my chat that if I experienced his final form as a kid, I'd probably lose my shit cause he looked so brolic! Been lurking in this reddit for awhile and its by far the coolest community to be a part of. Thought I'd share that with you all, now to check out Oracles and see how I enjoy that :] [link] [comments]

If they bring back the concept of shrines for the next game, I hope they change a few things. Posted: 07 Apr 2018 01:21 PM PDT I'm okay with scattering bitesize mini dungeons around the map, but I don't want them all in uniform, like the shrines. There was so little suspense and wonder in exploring this world when I knew most of what I'd see from a distance was the orange glow of a shrine. Put some of these puzzles in caves, perhaps some ruins. Or secret passages in towns. Or even just an old shack in the middle of the woods. It'll make whatever's hidden inside feel like a genuine mystery. [link] [comments]

Theory: Gerudo reproduce asexually but not exactly Posted: 07 Apr 2018 10:17 PM PDT This is long, sorry not sorry. Gerudo reproduction is one of those subjects people kinda wonder about, but then find out that Gerudo supposedly go find Hylian men to get preggo from, and then no-one cares any more. And I also know the peeps who made these games probably didn't think too hard about these things, but overthinking things is a talent of mine. So they say the Gerudo race is comprised of entirely women, with one male born every 100 years which is (as far as we know) always Ganondorf. Also, it is mentioned by a gossip stone outside the Temple of Time that Gerudo women go to Castle Town Market to find boyfriends. Thus, one can assume their interest in men means they use men from other races to conceive, and always give birth to girls (except for Ganondorf of course). However, one issue with this explanation that I, and others, have found is that this practice would eventually mean the end of the Gerudo race. At some point, the Gerudo children would be so genetically diluted by other races that they essentially wouldn't be Gerudo anymore. In light of this, I propose the theory that Gerudo reproduce asexually in a manner similar to Ambystomatid salamanders in the Ambystomatid Hybrid Complex, a phenomenon that occurs in the Midwest. In this system, all-female hybrid salamanders, which contain DNA from multiple species in the family Ambystomatidae, require sperm from closely related salamanders in order to produce fertile eggs. However, genetic material from the males is never incorporated, and the young that are produced are always female and genetically identical to the mother. This is called gynogenesis is amphibians like salamanders. A system similar to this (parthenogenesis) is found in many reptile species, but the necessity of copulation to trigger gestation varies. Thus, the Gerudo system goes like this: Females have sex with men from other races (probably typically Hylian), and either the act of sex or the presence of sperm causes their bodies to produce an embryo genetically identical to the mother. This assumes that all female Gerudo are genetically identical, which is defensible because the Gerudo women don't look very different from one another, and the small differences could be explained by developmental diversity (certain individuals being raised with slightly different environments and nutrition). The appearance of the male every 100 years could be explained by magic. In fact, Gerudos likely started out as a normally-reproducing race that became trapped in the current system due to a magical nature or curse applied to their race. Or its all magic or whatever I dunno. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:46 PM PDT Not sure you guys care about this sort of thing, but I just treated myself and took the plunge. Letting my son play Mario Odyssey for a while, then I'm going to begin my journey tonight after he goes to bed. I've been watching all your posts for a while now and I can't wait to experience Breath of the Wild! [link] [comments]
My hope for BoTW sequel/ next Zelda Posted: 07 Apr 2018 03:41 PM PDT I haven't really seen this talked about. But I hope for the next big open world Zelda, we visit termina again. There's so many questions and theroies about Majora's mask and what the fierce diety mask are. And I would love to see that explored more. I know some people's, myself included favorite game is MM and I would love to see more of Termina. Perhaps it's past. We could see some of the Garo/ Ikana before their people went extinct. It would be interesting to maybe even witness the war between the two. The antagonist could even be Majora before he was put into a mask. Tldr; Make an open world botw, but in Termina [link] [comments]
