New Adventure- Hel's Inner Demon Arena

The Arena Game Mode has a completely new environment with many new features!

  • New Hazards
    • Dangerous water pools on the map will kill a player if they stay there too long
  • New Objectives
    • 3 Serpent Demons will spawn in the center of the map every 2 minutes
    • Whichever team kills 2 of the 3 will get a Titan Juggernaut
    • These juggernauts follow normal arena juggernaut rules, except they will attack nearby enemies when stopped
  • Demon Jungle Buffs
    • All Jungle buffs will last 60s instead of 120s, but have more powerful effects
    • Demon Red buff provides 20% Movement speed in addition to Power
    • Demon Blue buff provides 10% Damage Mitigation in addition to Cooldown and Mana Regen
    • Demon Purple Buff provides Haste effect in addition to Basic Attack Power and Attack Speed
  • The Bonus Round Returns
    • Slay your opponents in a 5v5 deathmatch after the game for extra points

Quality of Life

  • Respawn timers have been changed for this Arena
    • Respawn times for a team is now consistent based on time/performance
    • This avoids the chances of a team dying and having an unexpectedly long or short respawn timer
    • Teams still respawn in waves set by the time of the first player to die
  • Ticket Earned Feedback
    • An in-game visual has been added to help players see what actions they are doing that subtract tickets from the enemy team
  • Portal Animations
    • Minions and Juggernauts now walk directly into the portal instead of animating in ways that can confuse players if they are hittable or not

Item Balance

  • Rage
    • Increase Critical Strike chance from 20% to 30%
    • No Longer provides 10% Critical Strike upon evolving
  • Evolved Rage
    • No bonus on max stacks so this is a normal stacking item. Rage will show new icon and total stats (20 Power, 40% Crit Chance)
  • Soul Gem
    • Decreased Bonus Damage from 40% to 30% of your Magical Power.
  • Warlock's Staff
    • Decreased Health per Stack from 4 to 3(This item now grants 500 health when fully completed, down from 600 health. )
  • Shield of Thorns
    • Decreased amount of damage reflected from 50% to 40%
  • Shield of Thorns Upgrade
    • Decreased amount of damage reflected from 50% to 40%
  • Hide of the Nemean Lion
    • Decreased Physical Protections from 80 to 70.
  • Celestial Legion Helm
    • Increased Physical Protection from 30 to 40
  • Shogun's Kusari
    • Increase Magical Protection from 40 to 50
    • Decreased Passive Attack speed from 25% to 20%
  • Jade Emperor's Crown
    • Increased Physical Protection from 50 to 60

    • Decreased cost from 2550 to 2400

    • Paralyzing Spit-This Ability now goes through walls, This ability has had it's targetter adjusted to feel more accurate, The Radius of each projectile has been increased from 3 to 3.5, The stun from this ability is now subject to diminishing returns
    • Soul Explosion-Increased range from 50 to 55
    • Stygian Torment-No longer requires Line of Sight to afflict enemies
    • Stun now caps at 1.8 seconds
    • Protection shred decreased

    • General-Ability icon art has been udpated
    • Passive-Updated passive meter to show cooldowns of her opposite stance
    • Light Basic Attack-Removed the projectile offset, this ability now fires directly down center and matches the targeter

    • Winder Fire Wheels-Removed the damaging hit as the enemy god begins to fall, Increased Initial and Landing damage from 60/100/140/180/220 (50% of your physical power) to 80/130/180/230/280 (65% of your physical power)

    • Divine Judgement-Decreased Damage from 20/25/30/35/40 to 20/22.5/25/27.5/30% of targets current health

  • NEW TERRA ULTIMATE-Earthen Fury
    • Terra channels her strength into the world around her, buffing her allies and debuffing enemies for 10s. Allies gain 10% damage mitigation as well as a Heal over Time and protective stones that heal the ally if all 4 are activated. Enemies receive 10% more damage from all sources and harmful stones that damage the enemy if all 4 are activated. Stones are activated when an ally or enemy takes damage.
    • Radius : 55 ft
    • HoT : 5/8/11/14/17 (+2% of your magical power) every 0.5s for 10s
    • Heal : 100/150/200/250/300 (+30% of your magical power)
    • Damage : 200/250/300/350/400 (+60% of your magical power)
    • Cooldown : 90 seconds
    • Cost : 100 mana
  • Thoth
    • Evade and Punish-This ability will no longer begin its cooldown until Thoth fires the stunning projectile

God Fixes

  • Ne Zha
    • Wind Fire Wheels-Ne Zha and the player he has grabbed are now damageable upon landing. Rather than losing their collision, they gain player pass through and Ne Zha gains CC immunity for the duration of their landing animations
  • Serqet
    • Last Breath- Serqet and the player she has grabbed are now damageable upon during the throw. Rather than losing their collision, they gain player pass through and Serqet gains CC immunity for the duration of their throwing/thrown animations
  • Tyr
    • Fearless-Targets hit by fearless no longer lose their hitbox while being pushed by Tyr and can be damaged
  • Hercules
    • Driving Strike-Targets hit by Driving Strike no longer lose their hitbox while being pushed by Hercules and can be damaged
  • Janus
    • Portal-Changed the FX for the portal deploy to better match its actual deploy speed
  • Da Ji
    • Pao Lao-Made adjustments to the targeter so it is more visible while on the Pao Lao

The state of Smite, especially on console, has gotten worse over time. HiRez has completely ignored their promises to up console patch quality and should be called out for it.

Every single patch adds more bugs that we have to be thankful they fix in a day instead of weeks, they clearly don't have any quality control and don't play even a single game before sending patches out. Crashes are ruining games on the regular, including ranked, and haven't even been addressed by a HiRez official as far as I'm aware.

Their claim to pay more attention to console needs has completely fallen flat and they're doing nothing to ammend it. A completely broken patch was met with 3x worshipers instead of 2x, basically a pat on the back saying "oops lol" rather than any action taken to minimize the chances of it happening again.

Quality has overall gone far down since they said they would stop treating console players as second rate citizens, they need ro get their shit together.

Operation Olympus has pretty much been abandoned, features that are supposed to make it to console in one year take 2 (or never make it), and often times HiRez employees opt to ignore these issues instead of acknowledging them, or comment on shitposts instead.

Lack of Polish Has Really Been Highlighted with the Introduction of Death Marks

It's time the disgusting, simple issues with this game get remedied.

  1. Remove Death Marks. Nobody wants them. Find some other crap to put in chests and adventures I suppose, if you really want to put something in there.

  2. Crit Splash. Does it really have to still be a splat of blood that looks like it was taken from a picture I put on a 1 page essay in elementary school using microsoft clip-art?

  3. Minions. Add customization and let us have standards. 2px thick health bars that are a solid color are disgusting and can be challenging to see at a glance.

  4. Buff Icons. The only consistent thing with this category is the fact it's inconsistent. We all know of that 20x20 resolution-lookin image of a blue boot stepping in glue melted from the sun that represents your slow. Instead of using the ability's icons to represent what's slowing you, you get to see this very, very old thing. among many other icons. Not to mention the neon red and neon orange, 1px thin borders surrounding them!

  5. Figure out what leap coding you want to keep, and apply it to all. Everyone knows Fenrir leap has some issues, along with Anhur. But a more recent god like Nike is able to function with the leap properly.

We're finally fixing horrible scrolling, lets fix these too, yea?

If I need to create a visual guide showing how much better other MOBA's/Games do these things, I will gladly. If that's what it takes to make Hi-Rez live up to a standard that's not the exact same we had in closed beta, I will. These nasty marks have pushed me over the line of getting over it and made the countless eye sores in the game just be too much. Every competitive MOBA and even other games do these things better.

Community Feedback - 5.5 Matchmaking Test (Part 2)

Hey friends!

In Update 5.5, we began some matchmaking tests for PC. We started these tests with our Arena game mode. Once we felt like Arena was getting good matches, we extended this test to Normal Conquest. Many bugs were fixed and variables were tweaked specifically for each game mode. After making these tweaks we started seeing more good matches and less matches that went to force time.

The Normal Arena queue is looking great at the moment, so we have applied the new system to all Normal Queues. Our top priority is to keep improving the Normal Conquest matchmaking before we move to Ranked Conquest or other Ranked modes.

Our matchmaking tests have not been activated on console yet, but these platforms have the underlying code and the the bug fixes required to run the system. Once our PC test data is stable we will be ready to turn on the new system for consoles immediately.

What we need from you

Our Matchmaking engineers can see how many matches are made, how many of these matches are good, and how many of these matches went to force time. They are monitoring this data daily and making improvements. What we really need from you are your opinions about what is frustrating about the matchmaking experience or what feels good about the matchmaking experience.

Please post in this thread if you find any strange or unintended matchmaking that you come across. Please submit all the details here. This should include the in-game match ID and a short statement about why you feel the matchmaking was less than optimal.

No matchmaking change is perfect

Keep in mind that there are a number of reasons that will always lead to less than perfect matches. The time that players queue and the region players queue from can have a huge impact on matchmaking.

Additional notes about matchmaking

  • Matches that were created after a short queue time could be "force time" matches. The other players in the lobby are the ones who waited too long, not you.
  • The only party rules in SMITE matchmaking are for parties of 4 or more, who are in their own queue looking for other parties of 4 or more. A group of 4+ matched against solos should only result if part of the lobby went to "force time."
  • Players of different levels are separated in the queue. The ranges are: (1-12) (13-19) (20-29) (30-50) (50+). Matches with players outside those ranges are results of "force time." Players level 50+ are all treated as the same level. So a 60 paired with a 120 is 100% intended and not a bug or a "force time" result

As a cusual player, I never really liked game modes other than joust and arena. But there was one Adventure that I truly enjoyed and it was the abys adventure. It was fun AND you had the chance to get THREE EXCLUSIVE SKINS! It was really worth the grind

Now this adventure, it's basically a carbon copy of the abyss adventure, only with water. And all the rewards are just some crappy death marks that are just distracting and a pure waste of effort. Please, if you want a great adventure, include great rewards and don't rehash the same idea.

Y'all are a really confusing community.

There's a lot of dumb things Hi-Rez does but I'm not teetering of whether I want quit or not every patch. Chest are stupid. I don't buy them because it's a toxic system no matter how much I like the skin. Some buffs/nerfs or lack there of has bothered me. I've been playing since Season 2, quit because I was really into CoD that year and came back at the end of it. However, y'all been here much longer and been threatening to leave, complaining about the same thing and saying shit like "LOW REZ always fucks up why do I keep playing."

Right, why are you still playing? A lot of you say you have to drag yourself to get on every day. Why? It's a game, you could easily drop it. Idk, I thought CoD was bad with its hypocrisy but y'all are something else. I never seen such a vocal minority hate something so much but be here after every patch. My question for y'all is why keep doing this to yourself. And miss me with the "I spent so much money and time..." dude, if you feel the need to keep throwing money and time at something you hate I don't think it's an Hi-Rez issue... Though this is really a gaming issue. But don't y'all just get sick of saying the same thing... every two weeks, just to deal with the same whiny people, same creators you hate, it's not like y'all getting paid to play.
