Update 1.17 - Lantern Festival

Posted: 01 Mar 2018 06:26 AM PST

Hello Hunters,

During the last few months, we've been hard at work on integrations of our branches, which will allow for faster development and releases of new content in the future. While this is going to improve the experience for all players, our push to get it done has also meant a recent break in our continuous rollout of PC patches.

With this work mostly done, we are now aiming to once again pick up the pace with more frequent PC updates. This patch will lay down the groundwork for everything that is on the horizon.

This first update mainly focuses on changes "under the hood" in order to get ready for the next updates, including the previously announced Jackrabbit. That being said, some issues will be addressed in this patch already. Animal teleportation has been a big focus for us, and this patch aims to solve the "zipping" of animals. We will continue our work on areas that affect this unwanted animal behavior and aim to have more updates going forward.

All outposts now feature interiors and can thus be entered. This was already possible in Medved-Taiga and is now also available in Layton Lake and Hirschfelden. Enjoy those cozy log cabins!

This update also takes in improvements for user interface that have only been available on the console version so far.

Last but not least we invite everyone to celebrate the Lantern Festival with us on March 2. The Lantern Festival marks the end of the Chinese New Year spring festival period and is traditionally celebrated with family, friends, and of course, lanterns! For a limited time, you can find decorations at every outpost in the game, and we wish everybody good fortune!

As always you can find all changes below and do let us know your feedback!

Happy Hunting

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KNOWN ISSUES:

Tents are appearing in the wrong locations in-game (too high/in the ground). We are currently working on a hotfix to address that, apologies for the inconvenience caused.

For the Chinese localized version of the client text is displaying incorrectly, this too is currently being addressed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Features
  • As a part of Lantern Festival celebrations statues and lanterns can be found in the reserve. Limited time.

BATTLE OF THE RESERVES - We Have A Winner!

Posted: 23 Feb 2018 08:47 AM PST

With a final harvest total of 106,949 vs 93,556, the community have crowned LAYTON LAKE DISTRICT as the community favorite!

As promised, we're ending this week on a high note and announcing some exciting upcoming content for Layton Lake District, namely the Jackrabbit! This most recent inhabitant of our Pacific Northwestern reserve is bigger than its distant cousin, the rabbit you know (and hopefully love) from Hirschfelden, it has a completely unique set of new animations and most importantly – it's fully huntable and harvestable!

The Jackrabbit will be released into Layton Lake District as a FREE update for all platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4), with the release date to be announced shortly. But, you might ask, with which weapon do I successfully hunt the Jackrabbit? More on that, and some other goodies, coming up soon.

We have a bit more news to share today. PC users, please keep your eyes peeled for a small quality of life (bug fix) patch next week. In the console world, we are of course still hard at work to bring you Medved-Taiga (paid DLC) and the accompanying free game update.

Great work from everybody taking part in the competition, and congrats to Team Layton Lake! Don't be sad though Team Hirschfelden, we'll surely have something fun for you at a later date. ;)

Happy Birthday To theHunter: Call of the Wild!

Posted: 16 Feb 2018 05:58 AM PST

Hi all!

As some of you likely know already, theHunter: Call of the Wild turns 1 year old today!

It's of course been a busy year for us, but the true stars are you, our community. Not only have you been bagging some big trophy animals, you've also racked up some quite interesting statistics, more on that in a moment!

We have an exciting 2nd year planned. Beginning with our Medved-Taiga release for consoles (announce date coming soon), and a bugfix patch in the near future for PC (hoping to make those pesky teleporting animals a thing of the past!), and some really fun content in the following weeks and months.

Please do drop by and say "Hi" during our birthday stream around an hour from now (16:00 CET twitch.tv/expansiveworlds or mixer.com/thehuntercallofthewild). The word is that the elusive "Producer Phil" may make an appearance, and we'll talk about a way that YOU can decide which reserve gets the next content announcement, it's going to be fun!

Again, thank you for supporting us, and just being generally awesome hunters for this first year. Now, on to those fun statistics. ;)

STREAM - Valentines Day Special

Posted: 14 Feb 2018 05:32 AM PST

Hello Hunters!

Today is often celebrated for matters of the heart, for us, it's all about heart shots! You may have noticed some new themed events that have appeared in the Hunt Club Beta, if not here's a quick run-down:

Daily

Long Distance Relationship - This is where your long shots count! Your goal is to shoot (and succesfully harvest) animals from 125 yards or further.

Playing Hard to Get - This one is going to be a challenge! Bag either Coyote, Red Foxes, or Lynx from within 40m to score.

Weekly

Shot Through the Heart - Tell me that title didn't make you think of a certain 80s/90s rocker? ;) This challenge is all about bow kills, with a heart shot. Go out there and put cupid to shame!

Matt and Graham will be trying their hand at these new challenges during today's special Valentines stream. You can join it at 16:00 CET, twitch.tv.com or mixer.com/thehuntercallofthewild

Weekly Mission - Once Upon A Time in the Hunter

Posted: 22 Jan 2018 03:11 AM PST

Hello Hunters!

We are re-visiting the old west with our very first Hunt Club Beta weekly event. Lever actions and revolvers are the way to go, but you folks will need to supply your own sarsaparilla should you need any mid-hunt refreshment.

We ran a similar daily event and it was by far the most popular we've run to date, so it only made sense to revitalise it as our very first weekly!

Please check the full details in the Hunt Club, from the main menu screen in game. This feature is still in beta; and as mentioneed above, our very first weekly event, so all feedback is very gratefully received!

Good luck out there!

/theHunter: Call of the Wild Team
