Retribution Moira intro as Highlight Intro

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 04:57 PM PDT

Blizz: The in-game Retribution cutscence is great. It's high quality and entertaining. If it's too difficult to regularly give us animated shorts, we will gladly take more of these.

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 07:43 AM PDT

Topic says it all. I really enjoyed the Junkrat and Roadhog sequence too. The community is thirsty for more story and these in-game sequences would be great mediums for delivery!

Edit: For clarification, I'm not saying "I don't want any more animated shorts." I'm saying if we could get more of these types of sequences (which seem less labor intensive and easier to animate) in between animated shorts, that would be really nice.

So uh...I guess I'm headed to Talon HQ

Should we trust Moira in Retribution?

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 10:03 AM PDT

As a handicapped player, I want to take the time to thank Blizzard for creating this game.

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 11:25 AM PDT

I have cerebral palsy. Half of the left side of my body is paralyzed to the point that my left hand is essentially nonfunctional. For this reason, I play Overwatch with a controller on PC.

My setup: https://i.imgur.com/Y9Nci9n.jpg

My left hand: https://i.imgur.com/YMFxizy.jpg

My method of holding the controller with one hand: https://i.imgur.com/ubWFJ7Y.jpg

Because of my cerebral palsy, my walking is pretty bad. When I was little I spent hours a day in the hospital learning how to walk properly with my left foot, but I never succeeded and always walk by putting all my weight on one part of my foot, meaning that in addition to my weak leg, my foot is sore from simply walking across the street to get a bite to eat. In addition, I have scoliosis which limits my flexibility. Therefore, I have always been confined to my house for most of my life.

Video games were always what i used to pass the time. Once it became my birthday I immediately purchased a new computer with Overwatch packaged in it. I've never been a fan of shooters as I found it too hard for me to play, all of my friends were playing it and said I should play with.

__

I joined during the tank meta, and Rein and D.Va were my two main heroes. I had so much fun winning games as these two heroes as they were both superstars of the meta and not really mechanically intensive. I basically one-tricked Rein for about three seasons, going from Gold to Plat within my first season and never managed to quite make it to Diamond.

When asked who else to play given my disability, everyone just told me to play Symmetra and Mercy. I greatly appreciate how approachable these heroes are, I didn't feel satisfied exclusively playing them in comp.

Once the meta shifted completely out of Rein's favor, I was forced to play D.Va more and more and picked up Zenyatta. Zenyatta taught me one important thing in this game: your game sense can absolutely carry you. I'm the one player calling discords all game and the one reminding my team where the enemy's positioning or telling the the current state of ultimates. It feels good to win games by outsmarting the enemy instead of mechanically outplaying them, something that can't be said for other fpses.

__

I'm well into silver border now and around 2900 sr, and I play the game daily. I didn't really expect this game to be as fun as it was for me. It's a struggle at times: I had to use a third party program to bind the PSN button to melee, it's hard for me to do a 180 due to my sensitivity, and Reaper, Junkrat, and Pharah are the only three dpses I can play well at all. I try to play other dpses and tanks in qp for fun, and I love playing Widowmaker despite only getting one potg with her ever.

I really like the esports scene too. I'mm unfortunately unable to drive and can't afford to ever a watch any games due to the fact that I live in the middle of the USA, but someday I hope I can see Jeff in person and thank him for making such an accessible game.

My career high is only 2966 (two games away from Diamond!), but I strive to be better every day and I feel like I'm improving as a player. My goal is to at least reach Diamond just so I can say to myself that I did it.

Sorry if this got a bit tl;dr but I really appreciate Blizzard for creating such a universally loved game for anyone to play, from pro gamers to casuals, to nongamers, and to disabled people. Thanks a lot!

Archives Skins But The Guys Have Butts

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 07:24 AM PDT

Left are the original model, right are the edited models.

Hanzo is training his glutes for that new dodge ability but has no butt.

Doomfist's voice actor has a bump but Doomfist has none.

Lucio gets a rear window but the view is flat.

Reaper's hips and thighs don't lie but his back sure does.

Why does Genji get to be the only guy with a butt? His butt isn't even real. It's just made of plastic and Mercy's tears. He didn't earn his butt.

Give me the guy butts, Jeff.

EDIT: I just realized Lucio is wearing a DJ jockstrap. Thank you Blizzard.

EDIT 2: Thank you for the double reddit gold. One for each butt cheek.

Retribution Tip: If a Talon Assassin is on an ally, you can melee them to knock them off.

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 08:52 AM PDT

I'm surprised I haven't seen many people acknowledge this, but it makes dealing with assassins much easier. If anyone has any other "tricks" fee free to leave them in the comments. Good luck completing legendary!

All four Retribution miniboss encounters (in order of increasing difficulty)

Posted: 10 Apr 2018 11:45 PM PDT

Blizzard: please let those who enter the ship at the end of "Retribution" be awarded a victory - even if a teammate is left behind.

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 11:16 AM PDT

This might seem controversial, but from my personal experience and also reading other people's experiences, I've come to realize that quite a good number of players are being impaired by players who are either:

  1. Overextending too much
  2. Plainly trying to screw other people's games.

My idea was to award a victory screen (and count to to the box-award system) to those who got to the ship in time and a defeat for those who died after a certain time counter started since the first one stepped into the ship.

Lemme know your thoughts!

Moira betrayed Blackwatch

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 02:42 PM PDT

After reading this post one can conclude that Moira was indeed in some shady way involved with talon at that time, but one thing that I realised is that Blizzard is trying to tell us by symbolism that she somehow manipulated Gabriel's mind to make him kill Antonio. We can see this in the cinematic, when Gabriel is about to shout Antonio, this frame appears, and it looks like the classic scene of the angel and the devil on your shoulder, in wich the devil is typically on the left shoulder as as the left side traditionally represents dishonesty or impurity. But at the same time, a few frames latter, Mcree appears on his right shoulder, making him the "angel" in Gabriel opinions, and that we can see on the way they discuss through the entire event.

TL;DR: Moira and Mcree are the devil and the angel on the shoulder in Reapers thoughts. Symbolism.

The waiter-bot can be killed this time

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 03:32 AM PDT

In Retribution (all heroes) Brigitte will say 'Thank you Angela' when she's revived, even if Mercy isn't the one who revived her.

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 07:39 AM PDT

There wasn't even a Mercy in our match. I went down as Brigitte and Ana revived me and Brigitte said 'Thank you Angela'.

Though I guess Ana would appreciate being mistaken for Mercy. Other heroes probably wouldn't appreciate it though.

Additional Story Info Revealed in Bonus Retribution Voicelines

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 04:47 AM PDT

Just like in Uprising, playing Retribution multiple times reveals additional voicelines that explain more of the story.

After a few rounds, I gathered a couple of extra facts about Antonio and Talon:

1) Antonio was known as an arms dealer and seemed to be the main leader of Talon.

2) Antonio is most likely dead-dead, as is in dead and not Ana Amari or Jack Morrison "dead"

3) Reyes explains that there were 3 likely successors to Antonio: Doomfist in Numbani, Maximillien (the omnic that owns a casino in Monaco), and Vialli (who made an appearance in Masquerade and it was revealed he ended up taking over for Antonio). This could tie into whatever reason Reyes ended up joining Talon later on, as he seems pretty knowledgeable about their leadership already.

Did anyone else hear anything of value in their games?

EDIT: Here are some other good points brought up by others in the comments...

  • Edited my original post to include the name Viali, I misheard the quote. That's who the third option for a successor was.

  • From /u/AnyLamename : There was an interesting exchange between Genji and McCree, where McCree asks what it's like being a cyborg and the response is something like, "Constant pain and suffering." So McCree asks why Genji did it, and Genji says, "I wanted to be able to walk again." I don't think the idea that Genji was in constant pain had been brought up anywhere before.

  • From /u/Byrnz222 : When Mccree runs up to grab reapers shoulder after he shoots him you can see her smile as well. She definitely seems to be up to something

  • From /u/TannenFalconwing : McCree is the only one who doesn't like that Antonio died. Genji points out that Blackwatch has killed before and that this is just another death, but McCree rightly points out that this was an execution. Moira supports Gabe's decision and seems to only be annoyed at the ruckus that was caused as a result. Then again, Moira snarks through so much of this mission as it is.

  • From /u/Haond : Genjis asks who Antonio is. Like you bring Genji along, this kid who has no idea what's goin on, to abduct a huge target without even telling him who he is or why they're kidnapping him. And then you kill him and Genji still has no fuckin idea who this dude is. To me that kinda helps show how Genji is still a bit young and naive but also how bad Blackwatch is at briefing a team before a mission

  • From /u/bacon_biscuit : A conversation between Reyes and McCree reveals that McCree was undercover as a waiter for the mission. He got fired because he lost his patience with a rude customer. Later on Reyes jokes about how they should've pretended to be a band as their cover. It's not really significant lore-wise but it was a fun little detail.

A cool Moira interaction in the Retribution event that parallels Mercy in Uprising

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 11:16 AM PDT

Im a huge fan of the mercy/moira parallels. I've been searching for some reference to it in game other than just the sprays. Found one!

I played the uprising event earlier and mercy & tracer have a small interaction at the first objective:

M: "Are you feeling okay, Tracer?" T: "Doing just fine doc (and some other stuff) M: "Let me know if that changes"

In the retribution event on my third run Moira and Reyes have the following interaction:

M: "Are you feeling okay, commander?" R: "doing fine (some other stuff) M: "Let me know if that changes"
