| I'm done with competitive Heroes of the Storm Posted: 07 Apr 2018 10:34 AM PDT For the past 3 weeks I've been playing Hero League on Oceania. I have a .txt file on my desktop which is 28 long with names of people intentionally throwing games, people who have intentionally lost so that their last 20 game win percentages are less than 10%. I've constantly reported these people. None have been banned. I had a player on my team tonight with 2 Hero League wins out of the last 20 matches played. I reported him. I whispered him to see his status as Online or Searching for Hero League as it shows up in the 'people you've whispered box', allowing me to dodge him. I waited 32 minutes for him to queue up so I could dodge him, apparently he was waiting for me. I gave up and queued hoping I wouldn't get him. Of course I did. We lost. I did the same, he waited again. Queue pops the second he enters the queue, I get him. We lose again. I try one last time to get a decent match tonight, and get him again. I decide I am just going to dodge and I lose 90% of my rank up points that I spent the better part of 3 days getting. From ~700 points to ~30. That's fair. This game doesn't punish people who are intentionally trying to be toxic and promote toxicity. People who are literally spending hours a day just to queue into Hero League to do nothing. It's even worse on Oceania because of the low player base, so one bad egg here is a higher % as the whole is smaller. In the past, when one or two Supports has been head and shoulders above the rest, it's been your tendency to nerf them. I get the sense that the community feels that this time, that trend should be reversed. I think Deckard Cain is actually a great step in the right direction for Supports. His entire kit is based around the idea that Supports should be more than just healbots, and be able to do more to set up creative kill potential. It's my hope that, similar to how Alexstasza's low winrate was a harbinger of the Supportpocalypse, Deckard's release will be a catalyst for a buff to the rest of the healers, to bring them in line with Malf and Stukov. Some ideas: Lucio's Reverse Amp's AoE is now affected by his Level 7 Talent. Increase the range of Kharazim's Divine Palm. Move Brightwing's Critterize to 13, switching it with Sticky Flare but increasing the slow. Give Alexstrazsa's Life Binder's Heroic some kind of passive benefit, like Armor or Health Regen. Give Tyrande more CC, like a talent tier that makes her owls either Root, Blind, or Silence. Make Ana's Shrike decrease enemy Hero damage dealt by 1% per stack. These are all just off the top of my head. You're all encouraged to post other ideas to make the rest of the healers more than just healbots in this thread! This is a mistake because after the bosses reach the half health mark they enrage and do more damage. By nuking immediately you are effectively shortening the easier part of the fight, and making the harder part of the fight longer. | Artanis needs an update to his age-old early game talents. Posted: 07 Apr 2018 09:38 AM PDT While Artanis has quite the mid-late game talent diversity, many of his pre-10 talents have been around since before Blizz started removing "generic" talents and giving Heroes newer talents more fitting to today's state of the game. This is especially true of his lvl 1 and lvl 4 talent tiers, where he often only has one competitive option. I believe this is a major reason why in the highest levels of play, he's only a BoE one-trick (although I do feel he is quite underrated on other maps in the HGC). Here are a few ideas for potential early-game talent changes: Level 1 Reactive Parry: Issue: With the buffs to Block talents all over the roster (e.g. Arthas block talent, Muradin block talent, Sonya's Tough as Nails), Artanis's 50% block mitigation is now by far the weakest version of a lvl 1 Block talent in the game. The typical Block talents these days grants 60-75 Physical Armor with a ~5s charge-time and the ability to stack. Artanis's Block not only offers much less mitigation, it's also reliant on him actually attacking things with his W. This design makes him more susceptible to being kited in the early game when enemies and units he can attack are out of his W charge range (and can leave him in a spot where he has W primed, but can no longer gain any more Block charges). Proposal: Buff the Physical Armor from 50-75 to put it more in line with the newer Block talents. Seasoned Marksman: Issue: SM has been around since the start of the game, and has been removed or revamped into hero-specific talents for many heroes. I like the idea of giving Artanis a damage Bruiser build, but SM stacks way too slowly on Artanis, and the time tradeoff is too great in my opinion. Proposal: Remove SM, replace it with a new hero-specific laning/damage talent. Something like Blades of a Templar: Minions and Hero takedowns grant him attack damage stacks, with Hero takedowns granting triple the amount of stacks of a minion death. At full stacks, Artanis's aas reduce the cd of Twin Blades (W) by 0.5s. Twin Blades is Artanis's main source of reliable damage and trait cdr (he does very little damage otherwise), and a talent that can make twin blades happen more frequently can do wonders for him, while staying true to the "all-in, always attacking" intent of his kit. Level 4 Shield Battery: Issue: SB is by far Artanis's weakest talent, due to a flawed design that counters the purpose of his trait. Artanis's shields are meant to take damage, and in situations where he really needs shield resets, those shields are usually depleted rather quickly. Having a trait cdr talent that depends on his shields staying up simply makes no sense, as it will see little (if any) value in any situation where he needs shields. It does have a place while laning, but Artanis will basically be without a lvl 4 talent at all other times. Proposal 1: Changed functionality - if Artanis's shields are depleted in under 1 second upon activation, Shield Overload (D)'s cd is reset to 0. This can happen once every 60s; Basic Attacks reduce this cd by 2s. Proposal 2: Changed functionality - gives Artanis a second shield he can activate with (D) at will, with a 60s cd. Basic Attacks reduce the cd by 2s. Level 7 Solarite Reaper: Issue: While I love SR as a situational talent where I need more waveclear / enemy has a ton of blinds, the damage increase simply isn't impactful enough, due to the 10s cd of Q. It does very little extra damage to backliners, and offers slightly better waveclear, but doesn't exactly save Artanis time in clearing waves due to the fact that he has no aoe damage outside of his 10s cd Q. Proposal: Remove SR, replace it with a questing talent (can be called Lightning Dash). Artanis will need to hit the same hero with both dashes to gain a stack, and each stack increases Q's damage. At max stacks, Q's return dash deals an extra 5% max hp damage to any heroes hit. In Artanis's release spotlight, his Q was described as a zoning tool with its returning dash, due to its "high" damage. Currently, I feel it does too little damage for enemies to try to avoid it, and his Q is quite unimpactful damage-wise. [link] [comments] | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

My MMR is still fairly high. :D Just another proof the system we have in place is obviously not optimal. | Hidden player names in draft look ridiculous in pro games (Player 1-5) Posted: 07 Apr 2018 11:59 AM PDT This is not a post complaining about hiding player names during draft in HL and TL, although I could list a bunch of reasons against it. However, specifically seeing "Player 1 to 5" in HGC drafts - and spectator mode as a whole for other tournaments - instead of the actual player names creates a really weird viewing experience. This change has no impact for the players themselves, as they obviously know who their opponents are, but as a viewer I feel like not showing the participating player's names for ~20% of the game time (counting draft as part of the game) is really bad from a branding perspective. The current iteration is also not only not showing player names during draft, but gives absolutely redundant information counting each team's players. What does this have to do with HotS? It's how queueing is implemented in this game. I don't want to play QM. I want to play UD or TL. But I live in ANZ, so I know queueing for those will be a waste of time. So I queue QM with my friends, begrudgingly. People readily ask for new game modes like ARAM, but this just risks splitting the player base further and making even more game modes nonviable. There are better voting systems though. In approval voting, you don't queue for just one mode, but as many as you like. In range voting, you indicate how much you want to play each mode. This gives the matchmaker more info, able to decide whether the 10 people it has would prefer to be in an ARAM game, QM, or UD. People don't need to lock in to one beforehand, just say that they are willing to play it and/or by how much. It would do huge things to making TL viable in low pop region. Like so many of these, blizz please, let us queue multiple modes at once. It would solve a lot of matchmaking problems, and even allow for new modes (such as ARAM) to be added in the future. Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:39 PM PDT I would like to hear the opinions of other players about mobility and dive, do you like it, do you hate it, are you neutral, why? personally I hate dive, there's little counterplay to it and it feels like the last time I was able to win a game and feel good about my performance with less played heroes like valla was back in 2016, dive used to be something that belonged to the warriors like anub'arak, muradin or heck even tyreal, if it was given to an assassin they would be weaker in other areas or force them to commit to the fight, meaning after they dive someone they can't just retreat. Mobility is something that has always been powerful in hots, I figured Blizzard knew that once they decided to remove bolt of the storm from so many heroes since they thought it was a boring ability and was always picked, what I don't understand is nearly every hero they released in the past half year or more has been given some type of mobility, go look at all the heroes in the game, sort them on release date and ask yourself what heroes are frequently seen in quick match or hero league that have no mobilty, it ain't a lot. Please Blizzard, as someone who has been playing your game since beta and still deep down loves your game be careful the direction you're currently going, I would like to play my old favorite heroes again like valla, kaelthas and lunara without being blown up in 3 seconds or not being forced to sit behind my towers out of fear someone coming for half a screen away and taking a big chunk of my HP. I doubt an employe of Blizzard will ever read this since most of the people here will downvote it and see it as a flame rant, which it sort of is, but if there's a small chance that multiple people feel the same way I do and would like to see the return of more sustained team comps, maybe some changes can happen.
