- Keleseth is a great card.
- Didn’t see this one coming
- Blizzard forgot something
- Why does Sense Demons give you 2 1/1 demons when you don't have any demons in your deck, but Ice Fishing doesn't give you 2 1/1 Murlocs if you don't have any in your deck?

| Posted: 13 Apr 2018 12:08 AM PDT Facing a player with one Shudderwock in their deck sounds bad enough. But, in some circumstances, you might have to face two of them. "There's a card in Knights of the Frozen Throne called Saronite Chain Gang, and the battlecry is: summon the exact copy of this minion," Brode said. "That's pretty good with Shudderwock, because it summons an exact copy of Shudderwock." Seeing a playtester pull off that exact trick struck fear in Ben Brode's heart. "These guys were play testing on Friday," Brode said. "I watched a guy play Shudderwock, summon an exact copy, and then there's another card called Grumble, who returns all of the minions to your hand, and now they cost one. And so that battlecry went off, and that second copy went back to his hand with a cost of one. And there's 20 other battlecries. So this thing went on for a minute—and then he plays the second Shudderwock." Brode shook his head, laughing. Brode tried to put a stop to the madness, telling his colleagues: "Guys, whatever card you made that enables this, you just change it right now." No can do, they told him. All of those cards are going into The Witchwood. "I was like, 'Nooooo. What have we done.' So, um, I'm a little worried about that one." [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 13 Apr 2018 12:03 AM PDT It seems pretty inconsistent for 2 cards that do the exact same thing to not have the same interaction. Currently when you play Ice Fishing with no Murlocs you just waste 2 mana, while Sense Demons actually gives you 2 demons to play. [link] [comments] | ||
| Shudderwock Shaman has a 42% winrate according to HSReplay Posted: 13 Apr 2018 05:08 AM PDT https://hsreplay.net/archetypes/221/battlecry-shaman This is the average across all decks and a few are above with one breaking into a positive winrate. Yesterday when I started playing I played elemental shaman with hagath and no shudderwock combo to try it out. After the first few games the deck started to feel like a heavy control deck, and my very first game I won against an odd taunt warrior after going into the super late game. I saw 4 OTK shamans, and despite the fact that I was playing a heavy control deck I didn't lose to a single one. After losing 4 times I started to question if shudderwock would be the next hunter quest, and the HSReplay stats right now are looking like it. It's still early in the meta and I could be wrong, but I'm going to go against all the top posts on the sub right now and say that OTK shaman isn't going to work. I'm comparing the deck to pre year of the raven exodia mage, which I think did the combo better. Both decks use 5 card combos, but I feel like mage has the better tools to make it to the point where they have all 5 cards. Shaman has 6 spells to stall the game in hex, volcano, and lightning storm, but mage not only has better options such as flamestrike and nova+doomsayer, but what they were doing up until the combo was potentially getting more of those cards to help stay alive. The OTK package might work if you put it in another shaman deck as a secondary wincon, but I don't see it as a primary wincon. I'm making a pretty bold call to say this so soon after the expansion comes out, but I don't think a deck with such low tempo is going to stand up to a world of aggro paladin and odd hunter. EDIT:A lot of people are comparing this deck to patron warrior and saying that the low winrate is because the deck is hard to play. I bought an hsreplay premium subscription to filter out games at low ranks and I'll know that for sure in probably 2-3 weeks. Right now the deck has a 39% winrate at legend, but this could be explained by people still figuring out the deck. Outside of this explanation I'm not still not convinced that the deck is that good. | Were you tired of the old CubeLock+ Priest meta? Then Shudderwock should be fixed but NOT nerfed. Posted: 13 Apr 2018 05:59 AM PDT In the last day there's been a lot of legitimate worries about the issues ol' Something needs to be done about the animation times, absolutely. However, that is NOT the same thing as saying the deck needs to be nerfed. This deck brings a much needed third axis to shake up a very tired metagame. Any experienced Magic player can tell you about the interplay of aggro, control, and combo in a meta. They can form a nice rock-paper-scissors, and provide a way for a meta to shift if one type of deck gets the upper hand. This rock-paper-scissors relationship doesn't translate 1:1 into HS, but the idea's the same. In the previous meta, greedy late-game decks were running amok. Yes, they had ways to cheat the "late-game" to happening a bit earlier than it should have been, but the fact remains that Big Priest, Spiteful Priest, CubeLock, and Control Warlock are all decks whose goal is to simply survive the early game and then overwhelm in the mid-to-late game. And they were generally pretty successful. There were some aggressive decks that were viable, but in general Priest and Warlock have defined the recent metas. The Shudderwock combo deck doesn't care in the slightest about an army of taunts. It doesn't care how many Obsidian Statues get cheated into play. It can deal with a turn 6 Spiteful+Tyrantus, and even against some of these decks most absurd starts, the Shudderwock combo deck can often stall long enough to get all its pieces. And when it does, it doesn't matter if there are Voidlords that drop Cubes that drop more Voidlords. On the other hand, it's still a deck that needs to see a large portion of its cards every game, and does so in a class without the ability to draw multiple cards a turn (no Sprint or AI, Ancestral Knowledge is gone, Oracle is gone and would be unplayable anyway). Yes, it has good survival and anti-aggro tools, but early signs seem to indicate that there are some good aggro decks waiting to be refined. Baku Hunter in particular seems strong, and some variant of CtA Paladin will likely also still be around. And these are decks that can very easily win before the Shudderwock deck has been able to do much. The problem with all this, of course, is that the execution of the Shudderwock combo is ludicrous. But the combo itself is no more egregious than any of the many combo decks that have existed over the years, most of which never required a nerf. Most of the suggested "fixes" I've seen suggested are things that would kill the deck--limit it to once per turn, make it summon Chain Gangs instead of more Shudderwocks, put a cap on each individual battlecry, change this, change that, etc. It might be the case that the deck is too strong even after the meta's top decks get refined, in which case a nerf might be in order. But for now, we finally have a deck that doesn't give a shit about all the Warlock and Priest shenanigans that everyone here has been complaining about for months. Let's not trash it immediately because of an issue with animation times. Hell, for that matter, this could be a good cause for Blizzard to finally address the animation issues head-on. This is hardly the first time it's caused problems, and every time it's just a bandaid fix. Nerfing the Shudderwock deck would just be another bandaid instead of a real solution. TL;DR: The animation time bullshit has to be fixed, but the deck loses to aggro and beats Warlock and Priest. Let's keep it around to shake up the meta a little more, and demand that Blizzard find a fix for the underlying issue instead of just nerfing Shudderwock and kicking the can down the road again.
