It has been long overdue but in order to keep boat floating over in the EU while the rest of us sleep, we have decided to bring on /u/thelittlemoa as a moderator!

Most of you may have seen him around but if you don't know, Moa is a consistent and active contributor to r/Halo and has a well garnered reputation within the Halo community from many different fronts.

He previously previously wrote content for what was once The Halo Council and later was a content writer for the home of competitive Halo, Team Beyond.

Not only does Moa have roots within Halo's competitive community, he has also been an active member of Halo Waypoint since 2011. Not only that, Moa has worked with eSports organizations like ESL UK to cover the EU Halo Championship Series Pro League as well as the North American Pro League.

we know about all those waypoint bans tho

Welcome aboard u/TheLittleMoa!

Does Cortana help Master Chief aim?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 07:31 PM PDT

A funny throwaway detail like Cortana tapping on Master Chief's visor while telling him to wake up in Halo 2 which also happens to happen in Halo 2 is the funny Australian marine (who I absolutely love by the way, best character in the whole franchise tied with Johnson) saying "You sure Cortana isn't helping you aim?"

Now considering Cortana can interface with Chief's brain, it wouldn't surprise me if at least part of his aiming skill actually did come from Cortana's aid. But in that case, Master Chief probably wouldn't be able to hit a single thing in Halo 4.

Is it possible that she acts as a sort of... I don't know the word for it, but in some games the game's A.I. will autocorrect your aim to make sure your reticule stays trained on a target. Aim assist?

If that's a thing on consoles in 2018, maybe they perfected that for the actual military in 2553.

Also, who is the Australian marine? Does he have a name? Because he's severely underrated and just awesome.

What Halo games have the most fair legendary campaign modes?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 04:01 PM PDT

Rank the halo games from greatest to least based on how fair their legendary mode is.

My list:

  1. CE. To me this is the most fair one because none of the weapons are obsolete; they all have their use in the best possible situations, and I was never forced to use the noob combo. For example, the assault rifle might not be as useful in a long range oriented map, but it's great for crowd controlling grunts and dueling elites 1v1. Also it's the only halo game that gives you enough health to tank damage, which allows CQB.

  2. ODST. I think that ODST is the easiest campaign and it was more like heroic mode than legendary.

  3. Halo 3. Like CE, most of the weapons are useful. I don't really see any noticeable flaws in the legendary mode except that vehicles can be destroyed a little too fast.

  4. Halo 4. It's not very hard in my opinion, but it is tedious because the knights teleport around and there's no way of telling if they are behind you. Also they have instant kill weapons, which forces you to camp and snipe enemies from afar.

  5. Halo 5. 343 tried to implement squad mechanics into the gameplay, but your teamates actually make the game harder because they're retarded, always die, and never revive you, which also slows down your death. I also think that the covenants weapons have way too much bullet speed for you to dodge or outmaneuver them which makes the multiplayer mechanics worthless for campaign.

  6. Halo Reach. I thought that the campaign was the second most unfair solely because of the elites. The elites in halo reach have WAY too much health so they can only die if you use the noob combo. The DMR doesn't work without it because of the bloom, but when you headshot an elite perfectly and are about to kill it, the elite sprints into nearby cover to instantly recharge its shields. Also the elites unpredictably instant kill at close range, so if you had a shotgun it would be completely useless because their melee speed is as fast as light, and they duel wield plasma rifles that shoot at lightning speed. If they severely nerfed the elites, Halo Reach would be a fair but challenging game, but it's not because for some reason Bungie thought it would be funny to have people snipe elites for three hours strait at the last level because he ran out of plasma pistol ammo. I somehow barely beat it on legendary. Next time i play it, can anyone give me useful tips on how to do good on it because i heard people say it was the most fair campaign mode.

  7. Halo 2. Unlike halo reach where one of the enemy types are cheap, all of the enemies are cheap.

I could be completely wrong, which is why i want to hear other people's opinions on the matter.

How we can bring richer community made gamemodes to Halo Multiplayer - Open-source Advanced Gametype Creation Tool with Scripting (Megaloscript)

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 07:36 PM PDT

Now before I go into all the details, I'd like to point out that this topic mainly applies to certain titles on MCC which use Megalo, including Halo 4, and possibly Halo 2 Anniversary, but scripting at the game mode level should be considered for future titles.

Since it's creation in Reach, the gametype script commonly known as "Megalo" has given tremendous potential for new experiences to create and enjoy in this game... this is what Bungie/343i developers were using to generate new gametypes, along with making adjustments to existing ones in Reach and H4. If I remember correctly, it's main purpose was to allow for making frequent improvements to the game post-launch, without having to roll out a costly Title Update.

A few years after Halo 4 was released, some clever people from a certain community were able to reverse-engineer Megalo, thus, modded gametypes were born and things changed dramatically for Custom Games. The community was finally able to enjoy playing Halo in the most exciting ways imaginable, and we were no longer confined to the limited options that was provided to us.

Remember the mode Gun Game in titles such as Counter Strike and CoD? Well now you can play this in Halo.

Want Prop Hunt? Trouble in Terrorist Town/Clue? You've got it!

How about (Rocket)Race, VIP, Territories, Stockpile, Headhunter and even Power Slayer from Bungie's Halo games... 343i left these out of Halo 4 at launch, but the modders didn't like this idea at all... so with the power of Megalo at their fingers, they all returned once again. Heck, someone was even brave enough to make Invasion work in Halo 4.

There was also many new and unique gametype variants made by very creative people, and it seemed like the only thing limiting us was our imagination. This is what I believe MCC needs now more than ever if it will have even a hope of a long lifespan, and the community needs the power to put in all of their creativity and passion, to make this happen.

With an advanced gametype editor, either as an Xbox app, Windows 10 app... or even built into the MCC UI, this will give the community everything it needs to continue making fun and exciting content for many years to come.

This is the future for Halo MCC, and the future of new titles to come.

First time editing Halo in a year, what do you fine people of reddit think?

I'm really wanting some online MCC, is it dead?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 03:16 PM PDT

I'm sorry if this is a dated question, I can't seem to find the answer. Does anyone play MCC or has the world moved on? Is there a time that it seems to be busy? A game type. I couldn't find a game today after trying for a half hour.
