Fallout - A gift from the Fallout gods

A gift from the Fallout gods

The saddest part of the Fallout series is that the Vault program would have worked if VaultTec wasn't so devious.

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 02:20 PM PDT

Project Safehouse would have given the American population a chance to rebuild, as Vault City in California shows us. There are over 100 vaults, typically they house over 2,000 people, if I remember right. That would have been at least 200,000 people with pre-war tech and knowledge, able to rebuild the wasteland.

The True Treasure of Jamaica Plains (Fallout 4 Spoilers)

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 10:08 AM PDT

Jamaica Plains is the only places in the game that I am aware of where we hear Preston Garvey laugh.

This man has seen his heroes die and his ideals shattered. He's spent a long time protecting people, driven by an urge to safeguard what good there is in the world in the face of overwhelming cruelty and evil.

So when he laughed, even if it was for just a moment, it was something truly special. It didn't matter how little the treasure itself was worth. That laugh alone was worth every moment of the quest and every bullet spent.

I've played through FO4 many times, but this is the first time I randomly encountered "Preston Garvey of the Minutemen"

I only wish I had Preston with me at the time.

Weapon Degradation. Should it return in FO5?

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 04:06 AM PDT

Discuss.

EDIT: I think yes, but only in Hardcore/Survival mode. Just another way to make the game a bit more challenging.

Why The Master’s Actions Single-Handedly Saved The Wasteland

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 03:44 PM PDT

The other day, I was thinking of a scenario in which The Master from Fallout 1 had never existed, and how different the wasteland would be without him.

So, I'm going over how certain towns would prosper, yada yada yada, until I realize something.

If the Vault Dweller never had to destroy the Mutants, he could've stayed inside Vault 13 after retrieving the Water Chip.

If the Vault Dweller never got exiled, then Arroyo never was created.

If Arroyo was never created, The Chosen One would never have been born, and without him the Enclave would've succeeded (eventually) in their plan to use FEV to destroy the people of the wasteland.

It all traces back to The Master, and how without his failure the Enclave would've destroyed all the people of the wasteland. Fallout 2, 3, 4, and New Vegas, never would've taken place.

So let's all take a moment to thank The Master for his sacrifice.

What would happen if the player character didn’t exist in Fallout?

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 01:21 PM PDT

Imagine a world without the Courier, Lone Wanderer, or Sole Survivor.

What would happen to the U.S? Specifically really the BoS in the Citadel, NCR and Legion in Nevada, and Institute in Boston.

(For the Institute Shaun never was born since SS doesn't exist)

What’s the most mundane play-through you’ve crafted for yourself?

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 08:02 AM PDT

Danse is an idiot.

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 08:33 AM PDT

So I just started a new run on FO4, I had killed Kellogg, but not met with Danse yet, so anyway as I'm down near Cambridge Police Station and I can hear gun fire I decide I will go and see if I can help out, that's the sort of guy Dr Colin Renfrew is, I get there and some BoS are there, I help them out and Danse asks me to help out with a mission, Yeah I'll help sounds like the sort of place I would head to (playing techno archaeologist) so we trundle over to Arc Jet to get the deep range transmitter, anyway as we head over there a Ronson (vertibird, they light up every time) arrives on the seen shooting up some mirelurks and super mutants, Danse charges of towards them yelling "I live for this"....Now I look to my buddy Preston and he looks back, and I mutter to him "is this guy dumb" we realize we don't need to go in there that Danse could hop on that Ronson (which miraculously survived) and head back to the Prydwyn. No Danse comes rushing back after helping dispatch the super mutants and mirelurks and we then have to clear out the building.

Anyone else had situations like this?

Should I get fallout 3 or 4 first?

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 09:34 AM PDT

I've played New Vegas to death, and it's been awesome, but I want to explore more of the universe. Planning to get both of them at some point, but which should I do first, and why?

Love what they did with “junk” in FO4

Posted: 13 Apr 2018 06:00 PM PDT

First time playing fallout 4 and its kind of weird that most of my inventory space is junk items that constantly carting off to upgrade weapons and armour.

Whereas in previous fallout games I was always really annoyed when I accidentally picked up the very same items.

Totally considering specing towards the pack mule perk just so I can carry more "junk"...

Wishful thinking: Different races/character types in upcoming Fallouts

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 09:41 AM PDT

I really wish Bethesda (or whoever does the next Fallout) would give you the option to play as a ghoul, synth, hell even a super mutant if you wanted. And not only this, but have the surrounding world react to whatever your character is appropriately.

I know there are mods that do this, but it doesn't change how the world treats you so it's kind of janky.

Anyone else?

I started playing Fallout 1, Should I start over?

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 08:27 AM PDT

I started playing Fallout 1 for the first time, kinda blind.

I am enjoying it so far, but feel that I have missed out on too many things + wasted too much time.

First off, I didn't know that you could go back into the Vault, and it seems that there are quite allot of important items and quests there. When I first got out, I wanted to explore the area around the cave for a bit. But ended up getting attacked by allot of rats.

I exited the area, and went straight to Vault 15, I killed all of the rats on the 1st floor. I wanted to go down the elevator shaft but it turns out I needed a rope. I went to shady sands.

Got asked to kill the scorpions. I also talked to Tandi, and doctor Razlo.

I did go into the building where Ian hangs around, but at the time had no idea who he was. When I talked to some of the people in that building, I got some vaguely threatening messages. I also remembered hearing that there was a part at the beginning of the game where you can get shot with an insta kill.

Ian had a leather jacket on, and I assumed the people around him where his "goons"" so I figured. This is probably that area where you can get insta killed because you clicked the wrong dialogue option.

So I left, without Ian.

Went to the Rad Scorpion caves. Seth had told me that some other people had already gone ahead of me. So I explored the cave for a bit, figuring that I would find a quest item, or NPc.

I didn't find those, of course. So I tried taking on the scorpions by myself. I was dying pretty quick I realized that this was not goign to work out. So I went back to Shady sands.

The next day I read online that you should recruit Ian, so I did. (It was also on that same day that I found out that you can go back into the vault, and get all those items and quests.) Then we returned back to the cave and killed all the scorpions. Then I find out that you can actually get more xp by blowing the place up, but I don't have explosives. So I go back to town and start looking around if I can find some explosives anywhere, and rope for Vault 15. I found the rope.

Now I have returned back to Vault 13, with Ian. But it seems that Vault 13 is a pretty large area. So it's going to take me some time to get through all of this.

I am on day 134, and have wasted quite allot of time. Should I start over to make up for lost time. Or is this still do-able for getting a good ending (with the waterchip quest)?

My exact time is this. Day 134. December 21 2161, 0901

I feel too attached with Fallout

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 09:55 AM PDT

So I have been enjoying Fallout Shelter since university and life in general took most of my time currently. There's one quest for the BOS called "Taking out the trash" which basically just killing a bunch of ghouls. When I received that quest, for a brief moment I genuinely felt angry. "This is racism!" I thought. "Ghoul used to be human too, some of them can still communicate just like odinary people. Surely we can use a properer name for it other than trash!".

Aaaand then I remember it's a game, not real life.

It’s too hard to get into New Vegas

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 12:34 PM PDT

Maybe this is just a personal problem, but after 5-7 attempts and 10 hours of playing, I still can't fully focus.

I LOVE fallout 1, but only like about car in fallout 2. And NV feels like a sequel of fallout 2, without a car. It's not a bad game at all, just have a hard time to roll playing with it.

Fallout 4 DLCs as movies

Posted: 13 Apr 2018 09:42 PM PDT

Hey everybody! So a few days ago I showed off the New Vegas DLC movie posters I made and y'all seemed to like them a lot, so I spent the time I had off work these last few days working hard on the Fallout 4 DLCs and I'm really happy with how they turned out and I hope you all like them!

Once again, feedback is greatly appreciated!

We didn't meet The Institute until Fallout 4, right? Forgive me if I'm missing something super obvious.

Having an issue with loading New Vegas

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 02:31 PM PDT

So, I load everything up like normal. And then the loading screen pops up, and the little ball on the roulette table spins and hits a certain spot....and it stays there......and stays there. I waited for 30 minutes and it was in the exact same spot: white 29. Could someone help? This is getting annoyed after three times of trying it.
