Fallout - After over a 1,000 hours, the Minutemen Takeover mod just gave me the greatest 20 minutes ever playing the game.

After over a 1,000 hours, the Minutemen Takeover mod just gave me the greatest 20 minutes ever playing the game.

Imagine a Call of Duty style offense with successive waves of 20 Minutemen pouring through the front gates of Nuka World, taking cover and exchanging fire with 3 united raider factions. You can't hear anything other than gun fire, screaming and explosions. VATS based attacks and jet provided a continuous, cinematic ballet of exploding heads and raiders dropping in awkward contortions. Bodies are literally piling up. When the main thrust of the attack was completed and you're hiding behind a column to Stim-up, you hear the distant isolated gun fire of your Minutemen, clearing alleyways and finishing the job. Meanwhile you look across the road and see Gage's crumpled body in a heap. You stand up. A limping Minutemen Ranger pauses to address you:

"General?"

Holy smokes. I sincerely don't know if I can return to the game as everything else simply feels boring now.

Minutemen Takeover + Militarized Minutemen just gave me my best Fallout 4 moment.

EDIT: Oxhorn has a wonderful video. Careful about the spoilers. I summoned 75 Minutemen with persistent corpses. Selected the "wait for my signal" option (or whatever it was called). No noticeable performance hit on my mid-range unit running Ultra.

A Trip to the Mojave Wasteland

My husband and I went on our very late honeymoon to Las New Vegas. As a huge fan of the Fallout franchise, but especially New Vegas, I had to go see some of this stuff for myself.

We visited the Hoover Dam, Nipton, Primm, and Goodsprings. It was an awesome trip!

I am absolutely convinced that Piper is a covert pervert.

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 01:07 AM PDT

I mean she pretends to be all innocent and socially awkward and all BUT:

  1. As soon as the SS gets to Diamond City, she immediately asks for an "interview" saying she just found her next story. And her next story just happens to involve some popsicle vault dweller that she just met, i.e. someone who is naturally more attractive and well-kempt than the average wastelander. Also, her office is like right next to the city entrance, giving her first dibs on anyone of that sort who comes into DC.

  2. She comments that the Brotherhood of Steel took the fun out of wearing rivets and leather. That's an oddly specific complaint to have in a land where most people can't even afford the rags on their backs.

  3. If you go to Hubris Comics she tells you to keep an eye out for Grognak the Barbarian comics that she needs for uh, "research purposes". She could've "researched" any other comic in there, but no, she specifically wants the one featuring a half-naked muscular dude with a gigantic sword. If her terminal is any indication, she uses them to "relax" in the evening with a Nuka-Cola (which also has a phallic shape).

  4. When she goes to the Third Rail she compliments Magnolia for having a "great set". She immediately backtracks and claims to be talking about her songs, yet she was only in there for like a minute, so how would she know? Again with the oh-so-innocent act.

  5. Her name and her newspaper sound like something out of a porno. Piper Wright? As in Pipe-Her-Right? Who is the sole contributor to PubLICK Occurrences? To quote Deacon, subtlety just went out the window.

  6. MacCready and Cait both come on to her in front of the SS and she casually shoots them down, but the way they talk about it ("so when are we having that one-on-one interview", "too bad we can't make it a threesome" even if the SS isn't romancing Cait) suggests there's a lot more going on than the SS knows.

  7. The coffee table in her house/office is nowhere near the couch it's supposed to service. It's almost like she's using that couch for something else.

  8. Her weird obsession with lockpicking. Deacon likes lockpicking because he's a sneaky undercover agent, Cait likes lockpicking because she's a thieving junkie, Piper likes it because... she's a journalist? Yeah right.

YOU'RE NOT FOOLING ANYONE, PIPER

Help! I’m a high enough level but still can’t find X-01 armor in Fallout 4!

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 11:50 AM PDT

The first time I looked at 35 Court, I was level 30. Quicksaved, enteres the building, killed bots, and the armor was T-45 so I loaded the old save and continued on my way. I've tried three times since then after leveling up with no success.

I'm now level 36 and I decided to try S. Boston Military Checkpoint for a change. I had never discovered this location before this time. I killed the gunners and found the suit, but once again, it appeared to be T-45.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or know why this is happening? I beat the main storyline(fuck the Institute) and I just want the suit already so I can be a Commonwealth badass, you know?

At the end of Dead Money, it says Christine Royce became the warden of the Sierra Madre. What kind of warden, what would be point be of just walking around an abandoned casino?

A. Cause you don't love me anymore?

B. It ended when I lost your love.

C. It ended when you said goodbye.

I've been playing all the Fallout games for a while but I haven't played F4 survival. What are some good mods to use?

Brought to you by the Todd Howard Questing System™.

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:53 PM PDT

First playthrough of fallout on a proper pc with help from Todd Howard Questing System™. :D Addendum : Played vanilla on a weak Radeon HD 8850m on lowest 720p. Feels great to experience modded fallout. I highly recommend people with good systems to experience modded fallout on pc. There's a small learning curve, be patient and stick with it for the first 10 hours and you'll be amazed by the modding community's brilliance. Don't go for creation club though, it's overpriced.

What was your favorite and least favorite bits of exposition from Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and why?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:31 PM PDT

If you've watched Emil's presentation on storytelling in video games, you will have noticed he wanted to avoid exposition dumps whenever possible. I didn't really feel like there were overwhelming exposition dumps in New Vegas (Haven't played much of 3 yet). Ditto on 1/2. But I'm a bit biased as a nerd who loves the details and asks every NPC "What's your story?", which is why I'm asking others for their experiences.

My favorite from NV: It's not one specific conversation, but the combination of environmental storytelling + dialogue that builds the atmosphere of the Mojave. The Mojave + the Southwest isn't an irradiated hell-hole, but it is rough living. The conditions of poor farmers or urban drifters contrasts greatly with the luxury of the Strip, or pre-war life. For many people (i.e. Old Ben) there is a hope and struggle for a better life, and the Strip + House's plans symbolize that. And of course, there is the fear of those slavers across the Colorado invading and enslaving everyone.

My least favorite from NV: Half the intro sequence, i.e the portion that describes the NCR + Legion. Felt redundant when I could start asking NPCs about the NCR + Legion a minute after leaving Doc Mitchel's house.

What are your genuine thoughts and predictions for the future of the Fallout series?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 08:20 AM PDT

I think it's fair to say most of us were disappointed with E3 2017. The question is, where do you see the series going from here? Another developer, a release time in the 2020s, or something else? I'm curious to hear the communities' opinion on this.

Once a piece of power armor gets destroyed does it use your stats from your armor?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 12:02 PM PDT

Title. Also as a side question so I don't have to make another post... Did I gimp myself by not going 5 luck for idiot Sevant? I have 10 int but I hear that everything every build should use it.

I just arrived at McCarran airport IRL and I’m finally on the strip for real life! And I’m wondering, what are the casinos in game based on?

So far my guess is that the Ultra-Luxe is Luxor and that Gamorah is Ceasers Palace but beyond that I'm lost

Best outfits for companions Fallout 4

What are the best outfits for companions in fallout 4?

I don't necessarily mean stat wise, I tend to like aesthetic more.

I put Danse in Maxon's battlecoat and he looks pretty cool.

So are there to Brotherhoods in Fallout 4

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 10:17 AM PDT

So in fallout 3 the capital wasteland breaks away from the original BoS to help the ordinary people. The brotherhood in 4 seeks to 'liberate' the Commonwealth. Is Maxson's brotherhood simply leading an expanded Fo3 brotherhood with its capital at the Citidel or did they at some point reunite with the original Bos and Maxson is leading all chapters?

There's nothing like drinking out of a toilet to remind me I'm playing Fallout.

Posted: 06 Apr 2018 10:55 PM PDT

When a man's drinking irradiated water out of a drinking fountain, he can pretend it's something else. But when he's drinking toilet water, he knows he's drinking toilet water.

Tips on survival play though fallout 4

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 12:47 PM PDT

My game constantly freezes.

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 03:05 PM PDT

Hello.

I am currently having a problem with Fallout: New Vegas where my game constantly freezes both when I'm just walking around and when I enter a loading screen. Usually with the music repeating in the background. This doesn't happen like from time to time but is a recurring thing that destroys the pace of the game.

I have downloaded:

ScriptExtender NVAC StutterRemover Yukichigai Unofficial Patch

Any suggestions are welcome and I will post additional information if needed.

Thanks in advance.

Do you think the kids of 2077 would have been listening to rockabilly?

Posted: 07 Apr 2018 02:34 PM PDT

Whenever I play fallout I like to play rockabilly in the background because in my head canon I feel its what the kids of 2077 would have been listening to. Maybe there was an underground holotape trading system? Anyway what do to you guys think?
