We need to be told exactly what "randomized weapons" means before they spend months on development on something we don't really want.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 07:59 AM PDT

New Title: "I would love to know what 'randomized weapons' means sooner, rather than later." as suggested by u/Jupiter67

I understand how development works. I understand that sometimes Bungie doesn't want to show their whole hand in case things end up changing and then the internet would hold them accountable for just an idea someone had and consider it law. It's happened.

At the same time we've been asking for randomized rolls for several months now, and I'm thrilled they're even thinking about it! At this point now they should tell us exactly what they're planning and get feedback from the community and see if it's worth the next several months of development and excitement just to be a let down again because it's lackluster. "Strike specific loot" anyone?

How is it going to be handled? Like Destiny 1 where you essentially have a base gun and then 5-10 (I'm making these numbers up) random rolls of perks? That sounds great to me! It's a system that we know works and clearly is popular with the community.

Will it be the exact same thing now but we get random mods? This seems more likely but I doubt it's going to bring back the players who have already abandoned the game. Mods are clearly not an upgrade to what we had in Destiny 1. If this is the route they're planning then before things get too far let's correct the course.

Is it a hybridization? This could work and I'm certainly open to just about anything to fix what we have now. Bungie can share their thought process and we as a community can share feedback and help coax it in the right direction. They can tell us what they're thinking without spoiling the end result.

I feel if months ago when they said they were bringing back strike specific loot and would have told us "We're thinking of introducing 1 item per strike with only a couple of guns and some cosmetics to fill the rest" and let us know back then we would have told them it was a bad idea and said at LEAST 1-2 THEMED weapons per strike and cosmetics should be the last thing included. You know the exact feedback that happened anyway but by then it was too late.

If you're reading this you are Destiny's last hope. Whether or not you still play, you care enough about the game to be apart of this community. The same community who developed LFG sites, Item Managers, came together and solved one of the coolest puzzles in any game to get us Outbreak Prime. This community is the best and Bungie should know by now to trust us. We know what we want, and we know WHY we want it.

Edit: I want to be clear I don't think I could ever speak for the community as a whole about "what we want and why we want it." Few of us could. I was intending that on a more personal level, sorry for the confusion. I (Kyren) know what I want, and why I want it and I think all of you as individuals do too! Even if we don't agree. That's why I think it should be brought up to the community as a whole so we all have a voice!

Edit2: I'm still under the impression the community summit is more a marketing tactic and not a request for help to get back on the right track but I hope I'm wrong. Thanks to all those who shared more details of the event of which I wasn't aware of.

Tl;dr Bungie could save themselves months of wasted development time and a majority of the criticism if they told us the plans on how to handle major game changes early on and get feedback from the community now. Then the community could have realistic expectations, and Bungie would know they were on the right track and avoid the "Strike Specific loot" fiasco.

Everything Missing from the Dev Roadmap (a reminder for Bungie)

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 11:32 AM PDT

EDIT: If I could change the title, I would. "Everything Missing from the Dev Roadmap Update Yesterday"

Dear Chris & Bungie in General,

Thanks for updating the dev roadmap. We know you have more to share, and I'm hopeful it'll be awesome. I wanted to take a minute to highlight somethings you've already told us are coming/being worked on but are missing from the roadmap. I give you some permission to exclude spoilery stuff, like I know you've committed to more in-game secrets and more mystery in the story, but that shouldn't be on a roadmap. This is not a post about a community wish list, just collecting things you told us you were working on but didn't include in yesterday's post.

(Community, help me update anything I missed in the comments.)

Content

You'd think coming here and seeing regular bitch sessions about TTK and Loot that we forgot we play this game for fun, and the roadmap had a few content things like improvements to Faction Rally, modifiers on heroic strikes, and a new seasonal event, which is great, but these weren't there on either summer or Fall goals:

  • Lost Sectors Improvements (difficulty, rewards)
  • Strike Playlist Scoring
  • A story/adventure playlist with modifiers, in general
  • Heroic Adventures beyond Mercury
  • Goal time for Prestige Raid Lairs (I know it was mentioned)

Overall, some of those things were in the January update but not the April one. Some of those things are community things that weren't mentioned in January but would be awesome to be mentioned in a dev update.

Investment

  • Shaders (was in January, not in April).
  • Exotic Accessory Collections

Shaders is a big one for me, because I've personally brought up Bungie comments about shaders in various community threads criticizing shaders, so I was sad to not see them on the roadmap. Exotic Accessory Collections may be included in "gear collections" or gear collections don't mean what we think. Some context/clarification would be great.

PVP

  • Doubles in Weekly Rotation

  • Addressing Solo/Team Matchmaking.

  • Trials of the Nine improvements. Derek did tweet about it.

  • Any mention of a balance pass before September.

Specifically regarding sandbox: we've gotten some good changes to Sandbox so far, but after exotics are reworked, will we have a sandbox team watching for changes or will we wait all summer? Mid-June would be a great target for Sandbox to make some tweaks with feedback from early Expansion data. In Summer 2016 we were promised more regular updates, and most of the remainder of Destiny 1 had about quarterly sandbox updates, but D2 is off to a bad start in frequency of sandbox work and it would mean a lot to know they're considering a regular schedule starting soon. EDIT: A Sandbox pass was mentioned during the stream last week for summer. So it should be in the roadmap for-sure.

Social

  • Improvements to Guided Games

Also mentioned in January but not this week.

Note: I feel like many of these things are still on the plate but missed getting a suggested deploy date. Some things in January beat their goal, and some things were pushed back, and some things on the list now are new. The list, however, in general, felt empty, and I hope this reminder can beef it up.

EDIT 1: The goal of this list to include things Bungie has generally said is being worked on in one matter or another already, many of which were specifically listed on a previous roadmap/dev update. I'm not trying to make a Bungie Plz. For that reason, I also removed two things I included that I feel break that rule.

EDIT 2: Thank you community for reminding me that, during stream last week, sandbox developed expressed intention to do a balance pass this summer. Once again, this post is meant to highlight what has been talked about by Bungie but missing from the roadmap (and should be added), and this is now 100% one of those things.

EDIT 3: Added link to Derek Carrol's tweet about Trials updates.

I hope that if Siva is re-introduced, we won't be punished for landing crit shots

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:39 AM PDT

It was always annoying to make a splicer's head pop, only to receive a seeking red ball of death as a reward

.

Edit: I can see how this makes the siva'fied enemies unique and variety is needed in the enemies in this game. This mechanic was always more of an annoyance than a it was difficult to deal with. Hopefully Bungie has something new and awesome on the way.

Wouldn't it be nice if Bungie added an option to vote to stay as a fireteam at the end of a strike?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:24 AM PDT

Quite a few times I've demolished a strike with a solid team of rando's. It just seems like a good QOL feature to stick with good people and tackle that (fri)Endgame.

In honor of the Warmind expansion, I bring more phone backgrounds

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:14 AM PDT

This time though, it's in an album! - Link

They are SIVA themed, despite there not being an official confirmation of SIVA, I think it's safe to assume ( Especially with the potential SIVA-mites in this image )

In case you haven't seen any of my other backgrounds, I've shoved all of them into an album as well - Link to that

Also, the third image is different from the rest, it's basically a "broken" version of the final image. If you would like a "broken version of the other SIVA backgrounds I could easily do that in the future (Like later in the day). Anyway enjoy.

Edit: The links being broken seems to be an Imgur issue that I can't solve. So for now they are on twitter

Link 1

Link 2

Link 3

Link 4

For the old backgrounds you'll just have to wait for Imgur to fix.

In Preparation For Warmind, Run The Io Adventure "Arecibo"

The worst part about raid lairs is that raids can’t surprise us about their location.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 11:39 AM PDT

With Warmind coming soon I'd have loved a return to Mars/Cosmodrome for a raid against Rasputin (if that's the way the story goes), and be surprised by the location.

But knowing the whole thing is gonna be a mini raid in the leviathan takes my excitement down hugely. Probably an unpopular opinion but I miss raids being standalone pieces of content and not bundled into a 3 stage process.

Give exotics their selectable perks back. Please.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:47 AM PDT

It's probably too later to be done for the exotic pass in May, but somewhere in Y5, exotics should really get their selectable perks back.

They were always static rolls so balancing them in D2 shouldn't be any more difficult than in D1, where Bungie already has plenty of experience to draw from.

Exotics need to be exotic once again. This is especially true given that legendaries not only have selectable perks (and will soon be randomized to boot), but can also be Masterworked to refine them further. Most exotics pale in comparison.

Bungie, let the September update go live a week before the DLC.

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 10:44 AM PDT

I know the temptation is strong to pile everything into one release, but if you want as many people as possible buying the DLC day one, you're gonna have to sell us on the game being fixed first.

I, and many others already have the first two DLCs bought due to having trusted you enough to buy the deluxe edition or shell out for the season pass, but you're gonna be wanting another $40 or so from us while we're still feeling the burnt. I know I'm not the only one who doesn't plan on throwing more money into this game until I know I'm going to want to jump back into playing it, so I'm going to wait to see if the updates released are underwhelming or actually whelming (overwhelming isn't even on my radar here). You know what you can do to get me feeling any degree of hype here? Release the update a week or two in advance, whip up some kind of transition event (like the sword knights or wolf packs wandering the planets) and let us feel a bit of what you have going for us. Otherwise I'm going to wait a week or two for people to actually reach a full zero hype consensus on the changes AND the DLC, and then maybe get it or even wait for it to go on sale before picking it up.

If you want people on board day one in September, add the last improvement you have currently scheduled to the game we already bought before telling us to give you more money.

Bungie, can we talk about unlocked/60fps on console (for Crucible at the very least)?

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 02:40 AM PDT

Since you've said in the past that "consoles simply can't handle our simulation at 60", PvE could have an "unlocked" framerate that pops above 30 here and there. Many games do (Fortnite did, until they took the time to make many many optimizations, and it now defaults to 60).

But it's 2018, and any self-respecting multiplayer game runs at 60 on console. It just feels awful switching to D2 after playing a different game. Crucible doesn't have dozens of AI, complex physics, and mission logic going on.

I believe there's no reason why the Crucible can't run at 60 fps other than inconsistency with PvE, so please just meet us halfway.

2-man Calus raid boss kill using D.A.R.C.I (2 phase, insane damage including vs rockets)

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 09:33 AM PDT

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc8REQWYlF0

NOTE - "Using D.A.R.C.I" does NOT imply that literally every single point of damage was from darci. However, for those doubting just how much of an impact it has here, here is a screenshot of damage numbers from just three plates of damage from 1 phase during a wiped encounter.

https://i.imgur.com/WkWuq1J.jpg

Take away the approx 200k nova bomb damage, needless to say Darci is a very real beast.

In comparison, a rocket launcher (curtain call specifically) on average does 450k to 600k damage with an empowering rift depending on your cluster bombs RNG. Multiply that by 4 and you get 1.8mill to 2.4mill damage.

Darci, on a wiped encounter and only 3 full plates, provided FOUR MILLION damage. Now that the math session is out of the way, lets get on with the encounter itself.

Setup & Comp

Sneaky - Warlock - Voidwalker Devour tree - Better Devils, Valakadyn, D.A.R.C.I

Key exotic - Vesper of Radius (chest piece - used in DPS phase)

Dimitri - Titan - Striker top tree - True Prophecy, Valakadyn, D.A.R.C.I

Key exotic - Actium War Rig (chest piece) - used for skulls

Some of you may ask why true prophecy? Well it turns out that true prophecy can one tap psions instantly no matter what. You can hit their pinky toe and they will die. It is also a 2-shot for projection psions, Very handy for solo dimension runs.

The Fight

Since it's a 2-man, one person stays in each room. The warlock stays in throne while the titan goes into dimension. You can do it differently but Devour is just absolutely insane for throne.

So while the titan is in dimension taking care of psions and calling out, it is the warlocks job to clear adds but also listen in on call outs to figure out which plate must be hit in order for the titan's survival. Based on which call out i am fed i do the following.

Cup - Hit axe OR sun (this is why i always ask is it down, if no you hit the other one)

Axe - Hit cup

Sun - hit beast

Now i'm sure you're thinking, what if he says beast? Well, the way the dimension works, when a team (or person) are in there the game will designate one person to be the "host" of the dimension. By being the "host" you are automatically not able to ever get the "beast" icon on calu's forhead, EVER. Since dimitri is all alone in dimension for this, this ensures he will literally never get the beast symbol. This by default leaves only the other 3 choices.

Once all 4 barriers are up and the titan is safe to get to the skull phase, the warlocks job becomes survival and mass add clear as much as possible. Since we decided to not use any rockets nor any wardcliff exploiting for this, the throne becomes just a tad harder to clear out but it's certainly doable. On top of this you're still in charge of taking down calu's shield in a reasonable amount of time but enough time for him to collect enough skulls for DPS.

DPS Phase

Once you have done all of the above, it's now time for DPS phase. For this, we would use the raid gloves with the perk of 20% more damage upon a melee kill. This reason is also a factor why he did not use insurmountable skullfort as killing multiple beasts proved to be much worse for DPS than getting his puise grenades back.

So during DPS right before hitting the first plate, we both melee a beast to get the striking hand buff and begin. During the DPS this is where Vesper of Radius comes in. When you are surrounded by enemies, your rift charges much MUCH faster so this is where the idea to keep beasts alive comes in. Because of this i am able to recharge my rift quickly enough for several plates and continue with empowering rifts.

Unfortunately i semi-botch this by changing to Stormcaller mid-plate and trying to use arc souls to our advantage but forgetting that calus is out of range for arc souls and they end up killing beasts instead. But that luckily didn't hinder us too much from a good run.

EDIT~

Quick screenshot of nova bomb damage for anyone that thinks nova is a significant factor in this.

DestinyTheGame Mods 2.0

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 11:23 AM PDT

Howdy, Guardians.

We know you've been waiting, and we're proud to announce the official implementation of Mods 2.0

Full patch notes are as follows:

/u/K_Lobstah

  • +35% Gildability

  • Now responds to gilds with angrily worded message

Dev notes: We noticed users weren't gilding Lobs as often as they should. Hopefully seeing how annoyed he gets boosts his gildings.

/u/Fuzzle_hc

  • +15% German accent

  • -10% Fuzz

Dev notes: We've dialed up Fuzz's accent just a bit for comedic effect, and because not enough users know he's German.

/u/Squeagley

  • Name changed to Crabley

  • +40% to seafood smell when paired with /u/K_Lobstah

Dev notes: Squashed eagles are so 2017. We've given ole' Squeags the retooling he so desperately needed by making him crab themed. We hope more users pick on him going forward.

/u/Clarkey7163

  • Now a kangaroo

Dev notes: We've decided to completely replace Clarkey with a kangaroo. Kinda bear with us, as at the moment, he's only capable of producing gibberish by kicking the keyboard. Will revisit in future patch.

/u/D0cR3d

  • +99% Robotic parts

  • -76% humanity

  • Automatically installs GuardianWare(tm) Anti-Malware on your device

Dev notes: <Initiate Protocol>Upgrade Complete. Resistance Is Futile.</Protocol>

/u/MisterWoodhouse

  • +120% beard

  • Now dualwields Banhammers

Dev notes: We realized that MisterWoodhouse was banning at half capacity. We've decided to give him another Banhammer so he can ban to his full potential. We're dubbing this release the "Woodhouse Meta". A nerf may be required, we'll monitor his usage. Also, he grew his beard out.

/u/NorseFenrir

Dev notes: While we had initial plans to increase public awareness for Norse's birthday, we decided he's behaving as expected and certainly didn't threaten any of us bodily harm.

/u/Aaron-il-Mentor

  • Renamed to Aaron-2-Mentor

Dev notes: This is a subtle change, but one we hope have a positive effect on his moderation.

/u/MetalGilSolid

  • +43% Shitposting

Dev notes: Gil has been awfully quiet lately with regards to post submissions. Hopefully this tweak puts him in the right place.

/u/Hawkmoona_Matata

  • x5 Facial hair

Dev notes: We've noticed that Hawk could use a bit more facial hair, so we've multiplied his current amount by 5. Oddly enough, this has yielded no change. We'll investigate this bug in the upcoming weeks.

/u/RiseofBacon

  • Now converted to Judiasm

  • New language added: Hebrew

  • x2 Guide posting

Dev notes: It has been a long time since Bacon has posted one of his famous guides. While at first glance unrelated, we've converted him to Judaism, which we expect will lead to an increase in guides, albeit written in Hebrew. He may also experience an existential crisis if he decides not to change his name.

/u/Try_To_Guess_My_PSN

  • Now on Xbox

Dev notes: We...we don't even know how this one happened.

/u/irJustineee

  • +77% Voice chat availability

  • Now able to Reddit and Discord at the same time

Dev notes: We noticed that Justine was lacking in versatility. She has now been buffed to be able to properly mod both Reddit and Discord.

Bungie: BRAVO on the new crucible map change!!!

Posted: 11 Apr 2018 02:27 PM PDT

We asked for them not split the community in pvp and they actually did it. This is a huge WOW.

THANK YOU.

Some people are like what?

"Season Three marks the beginning of a new plan for how we deliver Crucible content. For every player of Destiny 2, we'll be releasing all of the new Crucible Maps being developed for Warmind into matchmaking. The same goes for the maps we released with Curse of Osiris. To keep the community in the Crucible unified, everyone will see new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, as well as the new weekly rotators that include Rumble and Mayhem. That means more opponents for everyone. With the arrival of Private Matches, players will need to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play those Crucible maps with other players in a private match. This plan goes into effect on May 8 with the beginning of Season Three."

I'm worried that the September update says "Weapon Randomization" and not "Weapon/Armor Randomization"

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 11:36 AM PDT

The updated roadmap for September lists "Weapon Randomization". I'm concerned that armor is not going to be included in this, since, in my opinion, armor needs even more work since right now there's absolutely no perks on them (except raid armor).

Bungie Don’t Forget About Doubles!

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 06:55 AM PDT

Disclaimer: I made a shortened version of this post earlier and u/jkibbe provided me with the link and quote.

After Destiny 2 holding a valentines event the way any event should be held, they talked about adding doubles to crucible-

3/1/18 - "The Mode Formerly Known as "Doubles" is in its chrysalis, making a slow transition from what you played during Crimson Days to become a beautiful butterfly. We love the way it played in Crimson Days, but felt like we could take it further and give it more polish and flexibility. Once we lock that down, we'll release it into the Weekly Featured rotating playlist with the other fun stuff. For now, we are unsure of a release date, but we'll add it the Road Map when we are more certain of when it will land."

Link to blog post with the quote

Crimson Days was a great event and doubles was really fun. It was a fun game mode that Bungie should add into the weekly rotation! They already started give us some more to do with mayhem, rumble, and iron banner. I've heard that rift would be hard because of the maps but doubles went great! Matchmaking and joining with fireteams! Please bring this back!

Winter's Guile Ornament Glitch

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 04:01 AM PDT

There's a glitch with the Winter's Guile Ornament, "Dead of Winter", that causes the options for selecting the default and ornament versions to disappear once it is applied.

https://i.imgur.com/2nktsbZ.png

I know it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, but I felt it should be mentioned.

Also, not sure if it was mentioned before... Tried searching and didn't find anything.

Edit: Seems it might just be a PC bug.

Worlds Fastest Prestige Leviathan [19:01]

Posted: 12 Apr 2018 05:56 AM PDT

Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_pql7K9s38

Team:

Chevy (Warlock/Hunter)

Eclipse (Titan): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x0DnwzXe08

Ferdog (Titan/Hunter): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8RdgQovxFc

Raya (Titan/Hunter)

FrankUK (Titan/Hunter)

Indica (Warlock)

This did beat the old Record of 21:23 by almost 2:30. This run is showing our team making progress towards a sub 1830 run! This is a good time but has major timeloss in Dogs and due to getting a doubble cutscene on Calus.

How where we able to beat our old time by so much?

4 major reasons cause this major time save:

1) The Rotation: The 21:23 was done on Pools-Dogs-Gauntlet and this is the reverse. This weeks rotation ends up beeing faster because of our entrance skip and the fact that we only have to pass the irrigation pipes once.

2) The Entrance Skip: All of us have to do a cannon launch into a loading zone next to the Gauntlet Encounter (i know im bad at swordskating). Because of Warlock Skating its not a timeloss having warlocks due the skip as well. It happens to be the case that warlocks are actually faster for this skip.

3) Raid Mods: Helmet, Gauntlets and Classitem Raid Mods all give huge damage buffs which benefit the run in every section by a bit.

4) The Baths Skip: Once we get to baths, we have 1 blink warlock (in this case me) sitting underneath the vent, while the rest of the team 5mans the encounter. Once the Damage phase on the lanterns starts im already starting to run towards calus. This makes the draindoor open itself and is overall around a 30second timesafe. All Players who leave the team join on the 1 Titan. Everyone else swaps to celestial nighthawk hunters. (We lost time compared to usual runs due to getting a doubble cutscene: with the rejoining part of the team it gets a rng/hardware factor of getting a second cutscene or not if you are going for the earliest possible join)

The Rest of the strategies used are listed below: Pools - Pools is basically a hammer Titan spam now. The lamps get destroyed by hammers very quickly, rather than using Merciless. We used Masterworks weapons to spawn orbs to guarantee supers.

Dogs - Dogs is gathering a x24 stack (2 flowers). Due to us having to kill 8 Dogs that is the best balance between a low amount of flowers and a high enough damage buff. With the Go Fast Update Shotguns got major buffs and made Legend of Acrius an outstanding gun to use which performs extremely well on Dogs and happens to be a lot better than Cluster Rockets. (The timeloss here is me dying and not finishing my dog. I was very sure the dog was in his position already which means i can start the damage. Since he wasnt my grenade and novabomb kicks him around making it hard to damage him properly. The beasthandler didnt have any mercy so i sadly died.)

Gauntlet - This requires on Prestige everyone to run. So we decided to have our warlocks run first while the entire floor is there. After that 2 Titans run each round. The clear of enemies is where the most time can be saved which is why we all use Midnight Coup and all the titans use Legend of Acrius.

Calus - Calus utilizes the skull spawn ratio mechanic. This means that depending on the ratio of people in the realm compared to the people in the throne room, more or less skulls will spawn in the realm. Most previous speedruns utilized a 2:4 throne/realm ratio. We ran an even 3:3 to start. However, once the skulls were about to start spawning, 1 player killed themselves in throne (we cant have more people die due to revive tokens). This allowed for an 3:2 ratio of skulls. That guarantees the fastest way to get a 100 stack and beeing ready. Then the revive gets picked up when i am about to stun calus and we wait for everyone to get out of space. The moment i see the first players come threw to throne i start the countdown for stepping on. 4 Celestials, 1 Novabomb Warlock and 1 Striker Titan using all their Rockets, Grenades and Supers leads into a easy 1 Plate as long as all Nighthawks hit their precision hit (1 of our Nighthawks missed this time due to him leaving the realm way to late which costed us the 1plate).

As usual

Lens + Coldheart

Would it be kind of a cool concept if you were in a fire team and you dealt bonus damage if one person was hitting a target with the Prometheus Lens while a teammate was hitting them with the Coldheart at the same time?

Was just doing the Nightfall and stumbled upon the idea.

I want to hear every theory, no matter how crazy, on what Rasputin might be.

"The Vanguard still believes Rasputin to be a Warmind. He hasn't been that for some time" - Lord Saladin. Step up to the plate good guardians and share with me what you think Rasputin might be now. I have my own theories but I would love to hear yours.
