| Today Civ VI gave me a joy I haven’t felt from it since launch Posted: 31 Mar 2018 02:48 PM PDT So I'm poundmaker, the year is 1966, I'm third in the tech race, fifth in domination and nothing else really matters. I have absorbed America and The Aztecs after a long and hard war, and am now forced to fight Brazil for survival as they're the only other threat in the Americas (that one Incan wannabe was there too, but he doesn't matter). By all accounts, Brazil should destroy me- they have better defense, more units, and more advanced technology. But I am producing just enough ships (thank you Venetian Arsenal) and artillery that my three infantry corps are able to turn the tide, push them from their city founded right where Panama would be, then cut deeper in to take what would be Venezuela before suing for peace. This means I'm going to be able to absolutely steamroll them in ten turns, and this is the first time I've had a memorable Civ VI run. God bless Sid Meier. [link] [comments] | ||

| The problem with CIV 6 and CIV series in general (IMO) Posted: 31 Mar 2018 12:58 PM PDT Hey there, virgin poster to the CIV reddit, but veteran in CIV games. Really loved BTS CIV 4, pretty much played all from CIV one apart from CIV3. I play Huge, Marathon speed, Emperor difficulty, on near all games. Here's my problem with CIV 6 & some, but not all the CIV games entirely (although there are smaller versions of the same problem). You research faster than you can train units. It literally takes me an entire century to train one military unit, which sounds ridiculous if compared to IRL standards realistically. The problem is you train units with production units you get from the land (mines, logging etc.), but that forces extremely long wait times when training units. You should be able to use a unit based on population/manpower (like Europa Universalis), or some version of that, to recruit units instantly without penalty so you can ACTUALLY use them while you're still in an era. I can't even seem to use one unit without advancing to the next era. I know you can upgrade units etc., but eras fly by so fast for me. The ratio between the speed of technology advancing and your opportunity in using/getting the unit trained is just off. CIV7 or any CIV game would be more enjoyable if you could train units with reduced costs, so you can actually go to war & enjoy that part of the game. I want to build an army and dispose of it/put use to it like in RTS games where you're constantly pumping out new units and losing them, but in a turn based CIV game. I want to USE the technology for once. I spend so much time upgrading facilities just so I can train a few units, only for the next facility to come out/next military unit. Anyone else feel the same way? [link] [comments] | ||

| Mod Request: give the player control of which tile is next to expand via culture growth Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:32 PM PDT I know you can just buy a tile for gold if you need to have that specific tile, but the cost is prohibitive if you want a lot of specific tiles; the automatic selection sometimes does nonsensical things like expand to a desert instead of a very juicy plains/hill, it'd be nice to have a way to control that... honestly, it SHOULD be a feature if anyone asked me (which obviously Firaxis didn't, heh) [link] [comments] | ||

| Depression and Gaming: The Kindness Community! Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:38 AM PDT Hey, i'm Sentrix and i'm the creator of The Kindness Community, we are a community of gamers that suffer from depression, autism, bipolar and other types of mental illnesses, when I was a kid I was bullied at school for being different, I didn't understand why people bullied me or didn't like me, I felt hopeless and I NEVER want this to happen to anyone else ever again. Recently I decided to create a community for gamers like me to join and have fun together without being judged or bullied because it's something I would have loved to have when I was younger. We have a new discord server for everyone to have a safe space to just chill out and have fun, the link is https://discord.gg/qaqR8D5, I hope everyone has a wonderful day. [link] [comments] | ||

| Toning down the Crusade belief Posted: 31 Mar 2018 07:40 PM PDT Maybe the Crusade and Defender of the Faith beliefs shouldn't apply to civs who have already researched the Enlightenment civic (much like halving religious tourism). What do you think? [link] [comments] | ||
| Mod request: reduce cost of airstrip districts and planes. Posted: 31 Mar 2018 09:01 AM PDT It costs too much, take too much time to build a sized squadron. Thanks. [link] [comments] | ||
| Mod Request: City-State Pool Blacklist Posted: 31 Mar 2018 06:32 PM PDT Some city-states are a lot more fun to play with than others, and it'd be nice if we could "blacklist" some of the weaker or less interesting ones and therefore make it much more likely that the more fun ones would be a factor without having to restart the map while crossing our fingers.
