So from what I've seen in the Fresh Start PTS it seems overachieve no longer gives extra EXP but gold? Am I tripping or can you now get away with comp early without an EXP penalty?

4.5 FS Gear Progression

TLDR: Any advice for gear progression is helpful, since me and my friends have no idea what to aim for after quest gear

Hi!

Me and my friends first played the game when it first came out and had an amazing time, but sadly we didn't get very far progression wise (last thing I remember doing is farming for my Hasla weapon, which I believe I've read don't exist anymore)

So, a few questions we have around gear progression include:

  1. Should we stick with quest gear until we hit 50? If not what gear should we go for?
  2. If we stick with quest gear until 50, where should we go next for gear?
  3. I've heard of Auroria/GHA/Obsidian/Crafted gear. How are these compared to each other and are there other options?
  4. What crafted gear should we aim for? (Are there different types?)

These are basically just some quick questions I could think of, but any advice to do with gearing would help as once we have finished the quest we have no idea what to do :P

Any other information from other sources which would help is also greatly appreciated

Can a new player who has never played AA before enjoy the fresh start server?

My wife and I are considering playing AA. By chance, I looked into it a few days ago while looking for a new MMO and realized the opportune timing of the fresh start server.

Neither of us have ever played AA before.

Reading the subreddit, I see lots of references to how you must min/max labor with alt accounts on other regions, purchase things in the cash shop, and otherwise grind at a blistering pace to stay relevant enough to enjoy the game.

It paints the picture that if you don't play this way, you will get one shot by everyone the second you encounter PvP.

Our plan would be to play at a reasonable pace right between casual and hardcore. Our hope is to get a plot or two of land as well as get into a good guild. But we won't be hardcore grinding and min/maxing. For one, we don't know how to do so being new to AA. For the other, we'd like to enjoy experiencing the game for the first time. The wife is likely to go nuts over the house/farming aspect above all else.

Are we wasting our time trying to participate on the fresh start server? Will it just be populated with the remaining hardcore element of the community that crush a brand new player and prevent them from having fun?

Archeage is a great game. One of the best mmos. But it's very deep and it's hard for new players to get used to things. Hello I'm planing to start playing this game in the new patch fresh start server. So I was wondering if there is a way to lvl without questing and just killing mobs since I don't like questing at all(unless it is like Gw2) and so far I've only found some outdated guides. I do really enjoy group/team play like making parties to grind or dungeons but I know nothing about this game so that is why im asking.

Also what time is the new server starting it is already April 5 here and I don't know which timezone they are on.

Hi Guys,

Just a bit of background, i played Archeage when it first released, i never got to endgame and eventually stopped played after level 30 or so (i think) due to the server queues when it originally first release. I've always meant to try and get back into the game as i had a great time for the limited time i played however it has put me off with the P2W elements in the game.

First is a question that's been asked a millions of times, however i'd like to grasp other peoples thoughts, the question is do you recommend if i try the game again? I'm not looking to play the game for a huge amount of time only until something new is out, most likely bless (I refuse to support a game with such p2w elements, i would rather pay a subscription and purchase expansions as it seems more justifiable). I'll be willing to purchase patreon for that time, i'm not looking to be massively competitive just able to atleast not get shitstomped.

Secondly if the answer to the first question is yes, what build would you recommend, previously i played range and i enjoyed the animations & battlerage (not sure if i picked or what i picked for 3rd) just wondering if there's any meta builds with these two, if not what will be the meta builds if anyone knows.

Thirdly I'd just like to know what keeps people playing/supporting the game, mainly out of curiosity and to find out what people find fun in the game.

(Side note: I have browsed the reddit and find it slightly amusing how many people have complained about the p2w elements of the game and how Trion haven't done anything about it but have made it worse. Apologies for being cynical but I can't wait to see the day a competitor comes out and takes the good elements out of the game and relinquishes the p2w elements and kills the game. The community management is either horrendous at voicing the communities opinions or the publisher and the developers are too stupid to realise what they're doing to the game. Apologies rant over feel free to rant some more in the replies, I enjoy a good rant :))

Downloading AA now what server do I pick for NA?

Never played before now. What should I know about servers? North America.

Do I wait till I am a certain level to find a guild? Is there a guild recruitment thread or do I just look for chat shouts in game? Will I be pressured to join Teamspeak/Discord in every guild I try to join?

All games seem to suffer badly from DDoS attacks these days whether tripleA or indie. Does ArcheAge have frequent crash/lag as well?
