The real reasons people are annoyed about the fayre

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 04:37 AM PDT

A lot of discussion going around about the Fayre this year and I am going to present to you the reasons for it.

  1. The fact that the easter event this year is not happening and we get the Fayre instead is obviously a wrong decision.

  2. The Fayre has always been a mtx promotion where you could earn the items by grinding the event. It has always had a MTX buy-to-speed-up aspect to it. This year this model has shifted to full blown MTX. This however is not a bad thing since we are talking about cosmetics. If we really want to get rid of lamp/star promotions then this is the right decision to be made.

  3. The fact that the fayre takes up an update slot when other mtx promotions like the wisps in burthorpe, which also had a dedicated area for it, didn't. This makes people believe that the fayre really isn't a MTX promotion when it REALLY is. This is a very dirty move by Jagex and is what should be majorly discussed by the community.

Thanks for the read.

Please disable combat keybinds while using the Grand Exchange

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 07:48 PM PDT

It's amazingly annoying accidentally triggering Freedom or Anticipation trying to type a buy order too quickly, and being temporarily blocked from using the exchange because you're "in combat". Can keybinds please be disabled in the GE menus?

FAYRE RANT THREAD (Year 2) RETURN OF PAYTUWIN: Another year of disappointment

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 02:55 AM PDT

So I made a similar tread in response to the blatantly misguided manner in which jagex handled the fayre last year and hoped that something might change. BOY WAS I WRONG!

This year the fayre is overwhelmingly less appealing than even the critically flawed first rollout last year. Most immediately obvious is the absurd lack of an easter event in favour of this malarkey. Oh I know they stated that the fayre would be "easter themed", but this is a gross overstatement of the minimal work put into this collection of malevolent carnies. Calling this event "easter themed" would be like calling IT a clown, if out glance at it you might think so, but more than a second of scrutiny reveals that what you are looking at is an abomination. In essence it is unacceptable to call this a substitute for an Easter event. For Guthix's sake jagex, just do one of those "bottle quests" that you guys used to be so interested in making. Reuse assets, have it disregard logic, make simple rewards! But by no means insult your entire base of players by lying directly too them all. Which leads to the next thing, independent of whether this is an easter event or not, it is downright disingenuous as to the way the event is supposed to be played, which would be bad enough for a normal event, let alone THE EASTER EVENT FOR THIS YEAR.

The next thing one would notice upon sampling the spring un-fayre is the predatory nature of the event; which has cropped up in many recent events. This is achieved through the illusion of presenting the event as completable through gameplay, while in reality the rewards are virtually unobtainable. Therefore this leaves MTX as the only way to obtain these items making them not so much rewards as Solomon's store items. In which case that's where they should go, and that would be totally fine, if not for the fact that this is SUPPOSED TO BE THE EASTER EVENT! MTX is good and well when it is blatantly stated that it is MXT but when it is obfuscated in order to swindle the customers Players, MTX becomes downright egregious.

Overall I have once again been letdown by jagex. I thought that they were going to change their ways, with all of the quality updates coming out in the past few months, but I should have seen this coming when the equinox event launched.

Spring Fayre is quite possibly one of the best events so far.

This is the first noxious weapon that I've ever used, or made, so I figured I would make it special.

Spring Fayre is either broken or another cash grab

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 04:00 PM PDT

Spent somewhere between 10-11 hours at the Spring Fayre today, alternating between different attractions. The xp has been nerfed under the pretense that you no longer need tickets and thus can do the attractions as often as you want. Basically you have to spend more time to have the same net experience. While the agility course especially was packed last year, you won't see the same population this time around.

I was interested in picking up some of the new cosmetic tokens as I am already maxed and do not necessarily care for the xp. After spending somewhere around 10 hours at the event, I did not receive a single token drop. Many players that I have talked to have expressed the same thing. The few that I have spoken to that did receive a token drop, got last years cosmetics. I would have been fine receiving duplicate tokens as I like to share with friendly players, but the rate is too low or broken. This looks like a cash grab to me. This is not fun or worthwhile content and only pushes players to spend real money to get the items they want. Jagex did state the items were obtainable from participating in the event, but they do not want you to actually get them that way. They want your money. They do not actually seem to care to make a fun event for everyone to enjoy. They would rather you hate it and be forced to break out the credit card.

Suggestion for a Current Event tab for the GE. Pulls up all the new items for the current event.

PSA: Pure Skillers, you can remove XP gain from Guthixian Butterflies

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 10:30 PM PDT

The update has been live for almost a day and already I'm hearing that some pure skillers are accidentally gaining combat XP (basically, ruining their characters) through the accidental collection of Guthixian Butterflies, or simply not knowing what they are.

Guthixian Butterflies grant a small amount of XP in the skill which you have the least XP in. For pure skillers, this will normally always be a combat skill.

http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Guthixian_butterfly

To avoid collecting them by accident, you should configure them to stop awarding XP. To do that, you'll need to speak to Orla Fairweather:

http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Orla_Fairweather

Orla is situated at Memorial to Guthix, which can be teleported to for free via the teleport option on Guthix Memory Strands. If you are a pure skiller and haven't done this already, you should do so as soon as you possibly can.
