Draft leaver penalties are way to high compared to ingame leaver penalties.

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 09:51 AM PDT

Today I queued up for a Her League game. I found myself in draft when something unexpected came up and I had to leave. I know this shouldn't happen, but playing Hots way to much it happened...

Now beeing the egoistic MMR-loving asshole I am, instead of leaving the draft and getting -600 points + leaver game I took the "gamble" and just left my computer with the game running. The worst thing that could happen was getting -160 points ( -200 points + 40 points for ridiculously high personal rank adjustment) + leaver game. Oh, and the 4 allies I curse for playing with a Bot and a free ranked loss.

How can that be the goal of penalties Blizzard? You teach players such as me to behave like assholes!

Make the penalty for leaving the draft a loss of a ranked game. You can still increase the penalty for people leaving to many drafts, but -600 baseline is just way to high.

PS: Shout-outs to my awesome team for carrying a Bot through he first 10 mins of the game. I reconnected, we were even talent and actually won the game. I really deserved that win, kappa.

Also Shout-outs to the awesome Stukov Bot for not dying once in 10 min.

Depression and Gaming: The Kindness Community!

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 05:52 PM PDT

Hey, i'm Sentrix and i'm the creator of The Kindness Community, we are a community of gamers that suffer from depression, autism, bipolar and other types of mental illnesses, when I was a kid I was bullied at school for being different, I didn't understand why people bullied me or didn't like me, I felt hopeless and I NEVER want this to happen to anyone else ever again. Recently I decided to create a community for gamers like me to join and have fun together without being judged or bullied because it's something I would have loved to have when I was younger. We have a new discord server for everyone to have a safe space to just chill out and have fun, the link is https://discord.gg/qaqR8D5, I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Lore of Tyrande Whisperwind — Character Lore

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 10:00 AM PDT

Hello, folks!

It's been a while since my last lore thread, but I am now back (I guess). You may remember that I was originally planning to post this thread around 2 months ago, but I ended up postponing it after Maiev was announced since the Tyrande and Maiev lore threads would cover a lot of the same events and I didn't want to repeat myself too much. However, I feel like enough time has passed since then to finally take a look at Tyrande Whisperwind, who — perhaps more than anyone else — embodies the fierce and unwavering devotion of the religious side of the night elves.

You probably know this drill by now, but due to how much lore there is to go through (nearly 40,000 characters' worth of text, to be specific) I'll make a separate thread on Sunday to cover Tyrande's Heroes of the Storm quotes, abilities, and skins.

All previous "Lore of" episodes

The War of the Ancients

Tyrande Whisperwind was born and raised in Suramar, one of the greatest cities in the ancient empire of the immortal kaldorei (night elves) that dominated most of the world's at the time single continent, Kalimdor, over 10,000 years before the First War (Warcraft: Orcs & Humans). She grew up alongside the twin brothers Illidan and Malfurion Stormrage, who both loved Tyrande dearly for her kindness, beauty, and faith. Illidan, who had been the first to realize his feelings for Tyrande, long lived in his brother's shadow and saw Malfurion as an unwitting rival for Tyrande's affection. Tyrande eventually became a novice of the Sisterhood of Elune, the all-female priesthood dedicated to the night elves' revered moon goddess Elune. Malfurion, meanwhile, studied under the powerful Wild God (nature demigod) Cenarius to become the first mortal druid on Azeroth, while Illidan pursued arcane sorcery.

One day, the night elves' power-hungry ruler, Queen Azshara, and her aristocratic Highborne summoned the demonic Burning Legion into Azeroth using the elves' great fount of immortality and magical power, the Well of Eternity. The demons poured out of the royal palace in the capital city Zin-Azshari and began slaughtering everything in their path, marking the beginning of the War of the Ancients. To combat this threat, the night elf noble Kur'talos Ravencrest formed an army in the form of the Kaldorei Resistance. The Stormrage brothers soon joined this force, and eventually the Sisterhood of Elune — Tyrande among them — rode into battle on the resistance's side as well. During the war, Tyrande distinguished herself as one of the greatest members of her order, and her combat skills and healing abilities reminded the night elves of the role the Sisterhood of Elune had originally filled in kaldorei society; while the Sisters now mainly acted as healers, they had long ago served as spiritual leaders and fierce protectors of the burgeoning night elf society. At one point during the war, Tyrande came across a young woman named Shandris Feathermoon, who had become orphaned when the Legion attacked her home village of Ara-Hinam. Tyrande took Shandris under her care and taught her some of Elune's divine magic, and although she forbade Shandris from participating in the battles, the young archer would go on to distinguish herself repeatedly throughout the conflict, earning her a place at Tyrande's side after the war's end. During one battle, high priestess Dejahna — the leader of the Sisterhood of Elune and Tyrande's mentor — was mortally wounded by a demon, and with her dying breath she named the young Tyrande as her successor.

As more and more demons continued emerging from the Highborne's portals, Malfurion, Tyrande, and Illidan sought out Cenarius and asked him to rally his fellow Wild Gods. Malfurion also called on the mighty Dragon Aspects — led by the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza — to lend their aid. The Aspects did so, but during one battle they were betrayed by one of their own, Neltharion, who unleashed the power of an artifact called the Dragon Soul against his own allies, earning him the new name "Deathwing". Around the same time, Illidan professed his love for Tyrande but was rejected, which he saw as a sign that the priestess meant to choose Malfurion as her mate over him. His bitterness over this rejection (coupled with magical influence by Xavius, a Highborne who had been transformed into a new type of demon called a satyr) led Illidan to abandon the resistance and instead join forces with the Legion, eventually managing to steal the Dragon Soul and deliver it to the Highborne, who sought to use it to open a massive portal through the Well of Eternity and summon the Burning Legion's godlike ruler, the Dark Titan Sargeras.

Shortly after, Tyrande was captured by Xavius and his satyrs. Though Malfurion, with the aid of Shandris Feathermoon, managed to defeat Xavius by transforming him into a tree, Tyrande was taken by the other satyrs to the royal palace in Zin-Azshari and imprisoned. However, she soon later managed to escape with the help of Dath'Remar Sunstrider (ancestor of Kael'thas), part of a group of Highborne who had begun feeling discontent with Azshara's rule. Tyrande reunited with Malfurion, and the dissident Highborne joined the Kaldorei Resistance, which was now led by the warrior Jarod Shadowsong and had gained new allies in the form of the earthen (stone-skinned ancestors of modern-day dwarves), furbolgs (mighty bear-men), and tauren (bovine humanoids), as well as the Wild Gods, who had finally been convinced by Cenarius to join the fight. Under Shadowsong, the combined army launched a desperate assault against Zin-Azshari. In the midst of the battle, Malfurion and Tyrande journeyed to the shores of the Well of Eternity to retrieve the Dragon Soul. They were joined by Illidan, who claimed that his joining of the Highborne had merely been a ruse. Malfurion and his companions reclaimed the Soul and infiltrated Azshara's palace, where the young druid used the Soul's power to disrupt the great spell being woven by the Highborne. The spellwork unraveled, and as the night elves fled the Well of Eternity began to collapse in on itself, averting Sargeras' entry into Azeroth, hurling most of the Burning Legion back into the Twisting Nether from whence they had come, and finally igniting the Great Sundering, which shattered Kalimdor into a handful of smaller continents and islands. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the other elves, Queen Azshara and her Highborne servants sank into the ocean and were transformed into the snake-like naga by the malefic Old Gods.

The Long Vigil

Tyrande, Malfurion, and the other surviving elves fled to the sacred Mount Hyjal in the northwest of what was now the western continent Kalimdor, along the way deciding to outlaw the use of arcane magic to prevent another demonic invasion. However, upon reaching the top of Hyjal, the kaldorei were horrified to discover that Illidan had transformed a mountain lake into a second Well of Eternity using vials of water taken from the original Well before its destruction. As this new Well threatened to lure the Burning Legion to Azeroth once more, Illidan — known thereafter as the Betrayer — was sentenced to eternal imprisonment in the Barrow Deeps below Mount Hyjal as punishment. Jarod Shadowsong's sister, the priestess Maiev (who had briefly served as interim leader of the Sisters of Elune while Tyrande was missing during the war) was charged to act as Illidan's warden, and she formed an order of elite jailors known as the Watchers to safeguard his prison.

Three of the Dragon Aspects — Alexstrasza, Nozdormu, and Ysera — soon converged on Hyjal and agreed with the kaldorei that the second Well posed a threat. To stand guard over the fount, the Aspects created the colossal World Tree, Nordrassil, which the night elves agreed to safeguard. The Aspects then blessed Nordrassil and by extension the night elves, allowing night elf druids to more easily access the verdant spirit dimension called the Emerald Dream and granting all kaldorei renewed strength, vitality, and immortality.

Over the following centuries, Tyrande and Malfurion — now lovers — led the night elves as they expanded into the Ashenvale Forest south of Hyjal and rebuilt their society. Tyrande deftly positioned her Sisterhood of Elune — which had survived the war relatively unscathed but had, in Tyrande's opinion, grown too aloof and distant from the rest of their people — as the new leaders of the night elf government and military. She disbanded the old night elf army, which had been based more on bloodline than skill, and created a new all-female fighting force known as the Sentinels, directed by the Sisters of Elune, making the high priestess of Elune both the leader of the Sentinels and the sole head of night elf government. Tyrande's adopted daughter, Shandris Feathermoon, was subsequently named leader of the Sentinel Army. Meanwhile, Malfurion spread the teachings of druidism among the night elves. As part of their pact with Ysera, the Dragon Aspect responsible for watching over the Emerald Dream, the druids would hibernate in special barrow dens for long periods of time so that their spirits could roam the forest dimension.

Roughly 100 years after the formation of the Sentinels, the night elves came under threat by an army of satyrs and demons who had been left behind on Azeroth after the War of the Ancients, beginning the War of the Satyr. Shandris and the Sentinels, aided by Malfurion and the druids, made gains against the satyrs, but also came under threat from a group of renegade night elf druids who were transformed them into mindless, werewolf-like monsters called worgen when they attempted to assume the forms of wolves. Eventually, Malfurion created the unified druid order known as the Cenarion Circle and banished the worgen into the Emerald Dream, and the satyrs were defeated. Roughly 2,000 years after that, Dath'Remar Sunstrider and his Highborne elves were unable to resist the temptation of using arcane magic, which had been outlawed on pain of death, and began openly and defiantly practicing the arcane without restraint. The night elves couldn't bring themselves to execute so many of their kin, and after much discussion, Tyrande and Malfurion instead banished the Highborne from Kalimdor. The exiles traveled east, eventually transforming into a new race known as high elves and creating the kingdom of Quel'Thalas on the other side of the Great Sea.

With the exile of the Highborne, the night elves resumed their duties. With the druids sleeping in their dens and the Sentinels patrolling Ashenvale, peace eventually settled over Kalimdor. However, High Priestess Tyrande remained wary that the Burning Legion were plotting to one day return to Azeroth, and she could only hope that the kaldorei would be ready should that day ever come.

Return of the Burning Shadow

More than 10,000 years after the War of the Ancients, the Legion returned to threaten Azeroth once more and new races arrived in Kalimdor from across the Great Sea: the human Alliance led by Lady Jaina Proudmoore and the orcish Horde led by Warchief Thrall. A force of orcs of the Warsong clan led by Thrall's lieutenant Grommash Hellscream (father of Garrosh) entered Ashenvale and began harvesting the forest's lumber, enraging the Sentinels, who attacked the orcs. Before long, Cenarius himself also emerged to attack the Warsongs, believing them to be demons. Meanwhile, the Burning Legion had followed the orcs to Kalimdor, and the demon lord Mannoroth lured Grommash and the Warsongs into drinking his blood, greatly empowering them to the point where they managed to kill Cenarius but also shackling them to the will of the Legion. Shortly after, Jaina and Thrall were convinced by a hooded stranger called the Prophet to join forces against the Legion, and together they managed to free Grommash, who proceeded to sacrifice himself to kill Mannoroth, freeing the orcs from demonic servitude. Now united, the remaining human and orc forces pushed deeper into Ashenvale in search of remaining demons.

All the while, Tyrande watched from a distance, determined not to let outlanders set foot in Ashenvale. After helping to gather the lost tribesmen of a village of furbolgs who were preparing to move deeper into the forest, the high priestess and her Sentinels attacked a settlement being constructed by united human and orc forces. However, just as the Sentinels killed the settlement's leader — the human paladin Duke Lionheart — fire began to rain from the sky as a huge swarm of demons and their minions — the undead Scourge — emerged from the woods. Vastly outnumbered, Tyrande and the Sentinels fled back to the trees. The priestess and her archers were pursued by the undead for hours until they were cornered by the leader of the Legion forces: the demon lord Archimonde, who had also led the Legion's original invasion 10,000 years before. Archimonde's soldiers killed Tyrande's archers, but the priestess managed to use the power of Elune to turn invisible and escape to Shandris Feathermoon's nearby base. The Sentinels then traveled to the sacred Moonglade to awaken Malfurion Stormrage, who was hibernating in a barrow den. (I'll stop bolding the name Malfurion now so it doesn't get repetitive.) Using an ancient artifact called the Horn of Cenarius, Tyrande awakened Malfurion just in time before his barrow den was overrun by an advancing force of undead, and the priestess and archdruid then continued east to the snowy hills of Winterspring to awaken the Druids of the Talon.

Having been separated for a thousand years, Malfurion and Tyrande were glad to see each other again, but they had no time to rest; Malfurion concluded that Archimonde was seeking to ascend Mount Hyjal and drain the powers of Nordrassil. After the elves glimpsed a group of human soldiers battling the undead, Malfurion wondered if they could prove allies against the Legion, but Tyrande angrily denounced the outlanders as mongrels, holding them responsible for Cenarius' death. On their way to the Druids of the Talon's barrow den, Tyrande and Malfurion came across the furbolg tribe the priestess had helped earlier, now driven insane by demonic corruption. After they slew the crazed furbolg warlord, Malfurion commented that Tyrande had become much more merciless than he remembered. Tyrande scathingly replied that she had never had the luxury of sleeping through times of peril. The night elves pressed on until they reached the barrow den, allowing Malfurion to rouse the druids with the Horn of Cenarius.

Next, the elves headed into the subterranean Barrow Deeps below Mount Hyjal to rouse the mighty Druids of the Claw. While venturing through the deeps, the group suddenly came across the entrance to Illidan's prison. Tyrande believed that the Betrayer could prove useful against the Legion, but Malfurion forbade his brother's release. Tyrande defiantly replied that "Only the goddess may forbid me anything" and headed into the prison regardless, leaving Malfurion and the druids to gather the Druids of the Claw. Inside the prison, Tyrande was confronted by the night elf Watchers, the guardians of Illidan's prison. She demanded that they release the Betrayer, but when the Watchers refused, Tyrande killed them and freed Illidan regardless, telling him that his people had need of him. The Betrayer agreed to help, but made it clear that it was only out of his love for Tyrande. The following evening, Illidan headed into the demon-corrupted forests of Felwood, where he consumed the power of the warlock artifact known as the Skull of Gul'dan, transforming him into a demon and granting him enough power to kill the demonic dreadlord Tichondrius and stop the Legion's corruption of the forests. When Tyrande and Malfurion arrived, they were horrified by Illidan's transformation, and Malfurion furiously banished his brother from the night elf lands.

One night in a dream, a great raven appeared to Malfurion and summoned him and Tyrande to a meeting with the human and orc leaders — Jaina Proudmoore and Warchief Thrall — in a glade near Mount Hyjal. Once all four leaders had gathered, the raven arrived and transformed into the Prophet, who revealed himself to be Medivh, the Last Guardian of Tirisfal, and convinced the gathered leaders that the world could only be saved if the races put aside their old hatreds and united in arms against the Legion. Unified, the humans, orcs, and night elves prepared their defense of Mount Hyjal, with Tyrande, Shandris, and Malfurion providing support to the human and orc settlements to delay Archimonde long enough for Malfurion to enact his plan for Nordrassil's defense. As the demon lord scaled the World Tree, Malfurion blew the Horn of Cenarius, summoning countless wisps (small nature spirits) that gathered around Nordrassil and caused the tree to explode, obliterating Archimonde and ensuring the mortal races' victory over the Legion. However, the blast also badly damaged the tree, putting an end to the night elves' immortality.

The Hunt for Illidan

In the months following the Battle of Mount Hyjal, the mortal races went their separate ways. Jaina established the island city of Theramore in the south, Thrall and the Horde founding the nation of Durotar and the city of Orgrimmar on Kalimdor's eastern coast, and the night elves vanished back into Ashenvale to heal the damage left by the Legion's corruption. One day, Malfurion and Tyrande were approached by a night elf runner, who informed them that the wayward Illidan had raised an army of naga snake-men, traveled to a place called the Broken Isles, and retrieved a demonic artifact called the Eye of Sargeras, all the while being pursued by his former jailor, the leader of the Watchers, Maiev Shadowsong. The runner reported that Maiev's forces were under assault from Illidan and required immediate aid from Malfurion. Feeling responsible for Illidan, Tyrande and her sentinels accompanied Malfurion's druids to the Broken Isles to relieve Maiev's base of the naga assault. The warden was grateful for Malfurion's help, but she was furious at Tyrande for killing her Watchers and freeing the Betrayer, stating that the high priestess was the one who deserved to be locked in a cage. Tyrande insisted that she had only done what she had to do, but Malfurion interrupted the argument by reminding them that they were not out of danger yet. The night elves mustered their forces for a strike at Illidan's nearby base, (I'll also stop bolding Illidan now) but the Betrayer was surprised to see Tyrande join the fight.

Illidan: Tyrande! What are you doing here? This battle does not concern you.

Tyrande: I was wrong to set you free, Illidan. I can see that now. You've become a monster.

Illidan: Monster? Is that what you think of me? I have always...cared for you, Tyrande. I sought only to prove my worthiness--my power!

Tyrande: Raw power is no substitute for true strength, Illidan. That is why I chose your brother over you.

Illidan: Still you refuse to see me for what I truly am. You believe me to be a villain--your enemy. But soon now, you will see our enemies are the same!

Eventually, the night elves destroyed the base, but during the commotion, Illidan escaped across the sea to the Eastern Kingdoms. The kaldorei pursued the Betrayer to the land of Lordaeron, the homeland of the Alliance that had aided the night elves at the Battle of Mount Hyjal, now ravaged by the undead Scourge. While Malfurion went off into the woods to commune with the land, Tyrande and Maiev ventured inland and soon came across a group of Alliance blood elves led by Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider. Tyrande offered to help protect the blood elves' caravan from the undead as it moved to the safety of the far side of the nearby River Arevass. Maiev protested that it was a waste of time, but Tyrande insisted on honoring the debt the night elves owed to the Alliance. The night elves helped escort the caravan all the way to the seeming safety of Pyrewood Village, right next to a bridge spanning the Arevass, but the elves were suddenly ambushed by a huge force of Scourge. Tyrande volunteered to stay behind and hold the bridge against the undead while Kael'thas, Maiev, and the rest of the caravan moved to the other side of the river. Tyrande called upon Elune's power to rain destruction down on the dead and held them off for a time until the bridge suddenly collapsed under her feet, sending her sweeping downriver into the heart of undead territory. Kael'thas wanted to attempt a rescue, but Maiev objected that Tyrande had known the risk she took and demanded that Kael'thas uphold his end of the bargain and help hunt down Illidan.

Malfurion soon came back from the woods and reunited with Maiev at the ruined city of Dalaran, where Illidan and his naga were channeling a destructive spell with the Eye of Sargeras. The warden lied that Tyrande had been torn apart by the dead and urged Malfurion to avenge her by striking at the Betrayer. However, after the naga ritual was disrupted and Illidan was defeated, Kael'thas revealed that Tyrande might still be alive. Indeed, the priestess and a small number of Sentinels who had leapt into the river after her had managed to establish a small camp near the River Arevass and were desperately holding their ground against the Scourge. Illidan, who still loved Tyrande, offered to have his naga help Malfurion search for the priestess. Together, the Stormrage twins picked up the trail of the woman they both loved, with Illidan eventually managing to rescue Tyrande from the Scourge by opening a portal to safety. Tyrande was confused by Illidan's aid, but he explained that no matter what would come to pass, he would always look out for her. When Malfurion arrived, Illidan told his twin that he wished to end the long feud between them. For saving Tyrande, Malfurion allowed Illidan to go but warned him never to threaten night elf lands again. The Betrayer bid a final farewell to Tyrande before opening another portal and escaping to the shattered world of Outland, which he would eventually come to rule before being struck down years later. Maiev and her remaining Watchers pursued the Betrayer to Outland just before the portal closed, still intent on bringing Illidan to justice. Having earned their rest, Tyrande and Malfurion returned home to Kalimdor together.

Hope Within the Nightmare

Months later, a group of druids led by one of Malfurion's students, Fandral Staghelm, sought to plant a new World Tree to regain the night elves' immortality, against Malfurion's wishes. One day, Tyrande discovered Malfurion's body lying comatose in his barrow den in Moonglade. The Sisters of Elune and Cenarion Circle determined that the archdruid's spirit had somehow separated from his body and become lost in the Emerald Dream. In truth, this was due to the Emerald Nightmare, a corrupting force within the Emerald Dream created by the eldritch entities known as the Old Gods. Specifically, Malfurion's spirit was held captive by the Nightmare Lord (actually his old nemesis from the War of the Ancients, Xavius) within the Dream. Meanwhile in the waking world, Xavius' servant Fandral worked in secret to keep Malfurion's physical body in an eternal slumber using poisonous morrowgrain herbs. Malfurion's state was kept a secret from the greater night elf population, and in his absence, Tyrande once again became the sole ruler of her people. Fandral became the new leader of the druids and went ahead with creating the World Tree Teldrassil off of Kalimdor's western coast. The night elves established the capital city of Darnassus atop the tree's boughs, with Tyrande ruling from the Temple of the Moon in southern Darnassus. However, since Teldrassil wasn't blessed by the Dragon Aspects, the elves' immortality wasn't restored and three became suspectible to outside corruption. Though troubled by Malfurion's state, Tyrande continued guiding the night elves, but she often quarreled with Fandral due to his aggressiveness and radical beliefs. At some point, the night elves also became members of the Alliance.

A few years later, mortal adventurers (World of Warcraft player characters) sought to obtain the Scepter of the Shifting Sands to allow them entry into the kingdom of Ahn'Qiraj. In ancient times, the Scepter had been split into several shards, each held by a powerful dragon. The green shard was held by Ysera's own consort Eranikus, a green dragon who had become corrupted by the Emerald Nightmare. With the aid of Malfurion's spirit and Cenarius' son Remulos, adventurers summoned Eranikus to Moonglade. The crazed dragon demanded that Malfurion's physical body be turned over to him and fought fiercely until Tyrande and several priestesses of Elune arrived and conducted a great prayer to Elune that purified Eranikus of the Old Gods' taint, redeeming the great dragon. Grateful, Eranikus gave the green scepter shard to the adventurers and quickly returned to the Emerald Dream to aid the spirits of Malfurion, Cenarius, and Ysera in battling the Nightmare.

Some time later, Tyrande was visited in Darnassus by the night elf druid Broll Bearmantle and an amnesiac human gladiator named Lo'Gosh. Sensing dark magic around Lo'Gosh, Tyrande sent the two to Jaina Proudmoore in Theramore, where it was later revealed that Lo'Gosh was actually one half of the missing ruler of the human kingdom of Stormwind, Varian Wrynn, allowing for his eventual return to the throne.

Much later, the Emerald Nightmare began to spread not just within the Dream but into the waking world as well, trapping many people across Azeroth in slumber. Tyrande became compelled by various nightmares and visions to travel into the Nightmare itself to rescue Malfurion (who was being slowly turned into a tree by the Nightmare Lord). Accompanied by Broll Bearmantle and later also by Lucan Foxblood — a human with the ability to teleport between Azeroth and the Emerald Dream at will — Tyrande set off for a portal into the Dream located at Bough Shadow in Ashenvale. Along the way, they encountered Eranikus and convinced him to transport them to Bough Shadow, though Lucan became separated from the rest of the group and captured by an orc named Thura, who had set out to kill Malfurion after being granted false visions of the druid killing her uncle Broxigar. Once at Bough Shadow, Tyrande, Broll, and Eranikus were attacked by the two Nightmare-corrupted dragons Lethon and Emeriss, but they were saved by the arrival of the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, who convinced Eranikus (who was afraid of becoming corrupted by the Nightmare again) to accompany the two night elves into the Dream.

Once in the Dream, Tyrande and Broll reunited with Lucan and reached Malfurion just as Thura was about to kill him. Tyrande and Thura fought, but during the struggle Thura cut Malfurion's tree form with the enchanted Axe of Cenarius she had inherited from Broxigar, instantly freeing the archdruid. However, celebration was cut short when the Aspect of the green dragonflight, Ysera, was lured into a trap and captured by the Nightmare. Malfurion, Tyrande, Broll, Lucan, and Thura escaped back to Azeroth, but while Malfurion and Broll confrontred Fandral and helped cleanse Teldrassil of Xavius' corruption, Tyrande, Lucan, and Thura ended up being captured by the Nightmare. Tyrande created a diversion for the others to escape but both she and the Axe of Cenarius remained in the Nightmare's grasp. However, she was rescued shortly thereafter when Malfurion organized a dreamform army to battle the Nightmare. Eranikus sacrificed himself to rescue Ysera, and Malfurion and Thura worked together to destroy Xavius, after which Malfurion sealed Xavius' spirit and the remnants of the Nightmare in a chasm called the Rift of Aln. After all that had transpired, Tyrande and Malfurion returned to Darnassus and finally married. Their wedding was a cause for great celebration and was attended by leaders of the Alliance, the Horde, and the dragonflights alike. Afterward, the high priestess and the archdruid continued jointly leading the night elves as husband and wife.

The Shattering and Beyond

Despite the victory over the Nightmare, peace didn't last for long. Soon, the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing the Destroyer emerged into Azeroth, causing the great Cataclysm (or "Shattering") that ruptured the barrier between Azeroth and the Elemental Plane and triggered natural disasters all over the world. The western coast of Kalimdor especially was hit hard by tidal waves that claimed many night elf lives, and Tyrande worried for her adopted daughter Shandris, whom she could feel was in peril. After a scout reported that Shandris' base of operations in the south — Feathermoon Stronghold — was under attack by swarms of naga, Tyrande traveled there alone against Malfurion's wishes, but shortly after arriving to the stronghold, her husband caught up with her and helped her fight off the naga and rescue Shandris. As if the Cataclysm was not enough, the aggressive new Horde warchief Garrosh Hellscream sought to conquer all of Kalimdor for the Horde, and launched offensives into night elf lands such as Ashenvale, Azshara, and Darkshore.

Some time later, the night elves helped evacuate the worgen of Gilneas (Genn Greymane's people) from their lost kingdom to grant them sanctuary in night elf lands. Tyrande and Malfurion welcomed the Gilnean refugees to Darnassus and later arranged a summit to officially vote them into the Alliance. When Garrosh's forces pushed into Ashenvale, cutting a swath of destruction across the forest, Tyrande personally rallied Alliance forces in a counterattack. Garrosh had anticipated this and had actually planned to lure the high priestess out into the open. When the warchief unleashed several captive magnataur (massive, brutal creatures from the arctic land of Northrend) upon the Alliance, Horde victory seemed assured until King Varian Wrynn and the worgen entered the fray, turning the tide of battle and ultimately forcing the Horde warchief to retreat. The Alliance forces returned to Darnassus, where the worgen were finally voted into the Alliance.

Tyrande did not have much direct involvement in events that followed for a time thereafter. When word came that Garrosh was planning to attack Jaina Proudmoore's city of Theramore, Tyrande and Malfurion sent a number of Sentinels to aid in the defense effort, but Theramore was nonetheless destroyed when the Horde dropped a mana bomb on the city. Later, Alliance and Horde forces invaded the mist-shrouded southern continent to claim it for themselves and prevent the opposing faction from doing so. Tyrande and a group of Sentinels accompanied the Alliance's invasion and, on one occasion, tracked a Horde party that had holed themselves up in the Temple of the Red Crane, the sacred abode of Chi-Ji the Red Crane, one of the animal spirits called the August Celestials that watch over Pandaria. Tyrande urged King Varian to take action and storm into the temple. However, Varian opted for a more patient and cautious approach, and with the help of Alliance adventurers he managed to lure the Horde commander and his forces out into the open and destroy them with hidden traps and defenses. After the battle, Tyrande admitted her mistake and pledged her forces to Varian's command.

Not long after, several Horde leaders led by the Darkspear troll chieftain Vol'jin rose up in rebellion against the tyrannical Garrosh and worked with the Alliance to lay siege to the Horde capital of Orgrimmar itself to topple the warchief. The rebels were unable to break down the city's front gate until Tyrande and a battallion of Sentinels suddenly appeared and leapt into battle, shattering the gate and distracting Garrosh's Kor'kron soldiers long enough for Vol'jin's soldiers to head into the city, where adventurers of the Alliance and Horde were ultimately successful in defeating the warchief. Vol'jin was named the new warchief of the Horde, and Varian was willing to work with him to end the bloodshed between the Alliance and Horde, with Tyrande stating that she would be willing to allow the Horde Azshara if they pulled out of Ashenvale. Garrosh was subsequently taken to Pandaria to stand trial for his war crimes. Tyrande was chosen to act as the accuser during the trial, while the leader of the tauren, Baine Bloodhoof, was assigned as the defender. With the help of the two bronze dragons Kairozdormu and Chronormu, Tyrande and Baine showed various visions of the past, with Tyrande focusing on the brutality Garrosh had practiced during his reign, not just against the Alliance but against other Horde members as well. However, the trial was eventually cut short when Kairozdormu worked with several others to free Garrosh and escape to an alternate past version of the orc homeworld of Draenor. The four August Celestials, who had been presiding over the trial, revealed that they had never planned to execute Garrosh, and that it was everyone else present who was really being put on trial.

Conflicts on the Broken Isles

A few years later, the demonic Burning Legion invaded Azeroth a third time, this time from the Tomb of Sargeras on the Broken Isles. When the Alliance and Horde rushed to face them on the Broken Shore, many lost their lives, including Varian Wrynn and Warchief Vol'jin. Along with the other Alliance leaders, Tyrande and Malfurion attended Varian's funeral in Stormwind City.

To close the Legion portal in the Tomb of Sargeras, the heroes of Azeroth would need to retrieve the Pillars of Creation, a series of artifacts left behind by the godlike titans who shaped Azeroth long ago. One of the Pillars, known as the Tears of Elune, was located in the forest region of Val'sharah, the place where Malfurion Stormrage was first tutored as a druid by his mentor Cenarius. However, upon arriving, Malfurion found that Cenarius was being corrupted by a resurgent Emerald Nightmare, led by a returned Xavius who was now working with the Burning Legion. Xavius managed to steal the Tears of Elune, capture Malfurion, and — worst of all — corrupt Ysera, turning her into a servant of the Nightmare. Just then, Tyrande arrived, having received a vision of her husband in danger. Together with adventurers, she pursued her beloved through the forest until she caught up with Xavius, who sent the corrupted Ysera to attack the nearby Temple of Elune while he himself vanished with the captive Malfurion, giving Tyrande the ultimatum of saving her husband or protect the nearby temple. Tyrande ultimately chose her goddess over her love, and together with adventurers and druids of Val'sharah they killed Ysera, who was then lifted into the skies and transformed into a constellation by Elune. With the temple safe, Tyrande then asked the adventurers to head into the Nightmare-infested Darkheart Thicket to save Malfurion from Xavius, which they were eventually successful in doing.

Adventurers later became involved in another conflict in Suramar, the city of Tyrande's birth. During the War of the Ancients, the elves of Suramar had hidden their city away under a magical barrier, and over the following centuries they had been nourished and eventually transformed into a new race of elves known as the nightborne by a fount of arcane magic called the Nightwell, which had been created using the Eye of Aman'Thul, another Pillar of Creation. Nightborne who were exiled from the city and cut off from the supply of mana and arcane magic were doomed to deteriorate into nightfallen and, eventually, into mindless, zombie-like withered. When the Legion recently invaded, the nightborne ruler Grand Magistrix Elisande had allied with the demons. Adventurers worked with a recently exiled nightfallen named First Arcanist Thalyssra to begin staging an insurrection against Elisande and her demon allies, and the other elven races of Azeroth later arrived in Suramar to aid the rebellion: Alliance forces in the form of night elves Tyrande and high elves led by Vereesa Windrunner (sister of Sylvanas), as well as Horde blood elves led by the paladin Lady Liadrin and Grand Magister Rommath. Tyrande was wary of the nightborne and nightfallen "mana addicts" and wondered if Thalyssra would simply become another Elisande. Eventually, the night elf, high elf, blood elf, and nightborne forces assaulted Suramar City and the gates of Elisande's palace, the Nighthold, where they were suddenly trapped in time stasis by Elisande's magic. Tyrande and Liadrin were later freed, but the rest of the army remained frozen. Regardless, adventurers eventually managed to storm the Nighthold and kill both Elisande and the Legion's emissary, an alternate universe version of Gul'dan, and in the process, Illidan Stormrage was resurrected (long story). The adventurers retrieved the Eye of Aman'Thul and transported it to the magical city of Dalaran, but without the Eye, the Nightwell grew unstable. Thalyssra chose to let it die, stating that the nightborne would have to find their own way in the world without relying on the fount's power. However, Tyrande's distrust of the nightfallen and Thalyssra's subsequent negative impression of her ultimately led the nightborne to join forces with the blood elves to become members of the Horde.

As for Illidan, he joined the fight against the demons at the Broken Shore before later leaving for the final battle with the Legion on the demon world of Argus, ultimately sacrificing himself to serve as the eternal jailor of the Legion's ruler Sargeras, but before he left he created three crystals containing messages for his brother Malfurion, his love Tyrande, and the adventurer. In his message to Tyrande, Illidan stated that all his choices had been to protect Azeroth, and that during times when he faced doubt, Tyrande was the anchor he had held fast to. He told Tyrande that her devotion embodied the best of Azeroth and asked her to take care of Malfurion. Finally, Illidan stated that though he had at times wished she had made a different choice, in the end he knew that she made the right one. Upon hearing the message, Tyrande stated:

Contrite words. Yet I must wonder whether he truly meant them. After Illidan faced defeat atop the Black Temple, I tried to let go of my feelings... my distrust and bitterness. When I learned that he was alive, leading the fight against the Legion on the Broken Shore... I could not bring myself to speak to him. The time for talk has passed. It seems he has a duty to fulfill... as do we. Let us be about it, champion.

As usual, feel free to point out anything I've messed up or missed, and I'll see you for Tyrande's quotes and abilities thread on Sunday.

Tespa passivity for Heroes of the Dorm

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:57 PM PDT

Tespa hosts a tournament called "Heroes of The Dorm" and it's becoming more and more apparent that they play favorites and use their power to shut down newer and smaller teams that are being straight up pushed over by bigger, more well-known teams.

I will NOT talk about other teams' incidents other than mine due to giving them the right to speak up if they want to. So, this is my teams first time playing in Heroes of The Dorm and a huge incident happened with not only a team but also Tespa Discord admins. In the rules it states that if not all 5 members of a team are present IN LOBBY after 20 minutes, that team forfeits. This happened to the team my team was vs-ing that night. It was 9:21 p.m EST and their 5th player was still not in the lobby or even online. So, we go to a Tespa admin and explain the situation to make sure we're doing the right thing. We first get a response that says we're okay to take the ff and to report the screenshot. But soon, the SAME admin messages me again saying to play the game and not take the forfeit. I asked why because they changed their mind so fast. The Tespa admin then continues to say one player had login problems but there was NO PROOF of that. I will say that those things happen, and my team would be understanding if there was a screenshot of the "login problems" but there was NOT. When something like that happens, you take a screenshot because even if you are telling the truth, you have no evidence, so you can't be given the benefit of the doubt. This is a big tournament with FULL RIDES on the line. If you don't play by the rules, then it can end up chaotic and a HUGE mess. I understand wanting to have teams always play and avoids forfeits but this blatant favoritism because there's nothing to prove that this player had login problems. No one just "forgets" to screenshot, it's an easy way to show that you're telling the truth, not to mention this player was silenced for MONTHS because he was so toxic. Someone like that doesn't have a problem lying to get what they want. My worry here isn't about the team but the utter lack of ability of the Tespa admins to play favorites and to not play by the rules THEY made. Another Tespa admin also threatened my team with being unsportsmanlike when we explained that we were just playing by rules and the original verdict just because we weren't going to bow down to them and let them walk all over us.

The second incident is quite recent. The team we were going to play against messaged us asking if we could reschedule our game. Due to my teammates having class before and having Easter break the next day, we could ONLY play the designated time. Their captain continued to try to press me for information and even tried to accuse us of forcing a forfeit from them and then he even continued to admit that he's forced forfeits from other teams. I would have just ignored what happened if he didn't go and contact one of my members and try to harass her for information. He then continued to be rude to me after I asked him to stop harassing my player and to not talk to any of my other players. This team ended up "pulling some strings" and played and right when we got into chat we were hit with passive aggressive comments making fun of our school. (I do not have screenshots as I am home currently, but I hope after showing that I've been telling the truth this entire time that you'll take my word for it). I unknowingly streamed our games without a delay and I will be the first to admit that I messed up there BUT one of their players stream sniped us just to get a dirty win which is unsportsmanlike and that is apparently something Tespa "doesn't take lightly". I will repeat that Tespa threatened us with being unsportsmanlike when we weren't even unsportsmanlike but when a team is obviously being unsportsmanlike but it's one of their favorites, they didn't see anything happen. (I would also like to add that this team was featured in one of Tespas films so not very surprising they're leaning towards them more than my team) My team is seeking out to bring awareness of these situations, so they don't happen to further teams. We are NOT asking to be put back into the tournament or to be given the win. We don't care that we lost, we care about how things were handled and the treatment from other teams and Tespa admins themselves.

Deadman's Stand - Game Breaking Bug

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 01:29 AM PDT

Hi all,

THERE IS CURRENTLY A GAME BREAKING BUG THAT COMPLETELY PREVENTS PEOPLE FROM PLAYING THE GAME ENTIRELY.

So today I decided to log in and play a few matches of Heroes, as well as experience a newly introduced brawl.

I queue up, get in a game, select a character and wait as my team does the same.

One person does NOT select a character (I'm assuming they failed to connect). The character select countdown ends, and the game begins.

We load onto the map, but there are only 4 of us. The 5th person that never selected a character appears to be an empty white frame in their portrait on the Party UI.

The countdown reaches 0:00 and the game stands as it is. Nothing happens. The gates don't open. All of us decide to leave the match and queue again, but little do we know we are forced to re-connect to the same game over and over and over again. A game that hasn't started and that therefore will never end. There is no option to abandon the match or to reject rejoining it.

There are 5 of us currently (4 stuck in the Brawl Purgatory and one person unable to connect) that are unable to play Heroes of the Storm in its entirety because of this bug.

Every time I reconnect there is a Tab Score Screen open, that I can not close.

All 4 of us tried reconnecting into the same game, but the gates are still closed and nothing is happening. Please kill this game instance, set us free so we can go play other modes and fix this bug.

Thank you.

UPDATE #1:

The 5th person seems to have tried to re-join the game, because now there is a 5th character present on the map. However, their talents re blank on the Tab screen - not because they were not selected, there are no empty boxes presented - just nothingness.

UPDATE #2:

Made an official Bug Report on Blizzard forums:

https://us.battle.net/forums/en/heroes/topic/20762316490

UPDATE #3:

I have been released from the purgatory! Yay! Though I am now terrified to play Brawl :(

Is anyone else ridiculously excited to see the Heroic Version of Deadman's Stand?

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 08:14 AM PDT

Deadman's Stand is a lot of fun, no doubt about that. But it was a little easy, and I just can't wait to think how terrifying and evil the heroic version will be. Afterall, survival modes are best when you win by the bare skin of your teeth.

Woudlnt it be nice to have more details in match history section?

Like talents or optionaly also end-game stats. Talents are most desired imo, sometimes you close the end-game screen, and then thinking about last game later, you would like to check talents people have picked.
