Fortnite Update on Nocturno!

Update on Nocturno!

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:07 PM PDT

Heya folks,

We mistakenly granted 25 players the Ultimate Founder's exclusive Nocturno weapon with more powerful perks than the fixed roll Ultimate Founders received.

This was due to us not providing our Player Support agents with an appropriate set of guidelines for what to grant and how, and also not having the tools in place to verify that an item is valid. We've since addressed it.

To rectify this, we are going to change the Nocturnos that deviate from the fixed roll by resetting them to level 1, changing them to the correct perks, and refunding evolution materials and XP used for those 25 players.

Note: This will not impact Nocturnos that already exist in the world.

The ClusterHusk is great, please make that a new mission type in the future.

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:22 PM PDT

I LOVE the idea of a "Hunt" style mission where you just have to overcome one big named nightmarishly difficult combat encounter. I don't know about any of you guys, maybe I encountered my ClusterHulk in a mission we were underleveled for, but it killed through all my lives and that of the one person helping me.

And you know what? It was fun. The UI could use a little improvement, it seems like only one HP bar stays at the top of the screen . . . but whatever. That's small stuff. I'd like to see this concept explored a lot more deeply in the future. Gimme some good boss fights. This is the best one I've seen yet.

*joins STW for 1 minute*

Now that sprinting has been brought in line with BR, can we get the same for fall damage?

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 08:01 AM PDT

Being able to sprint indefinitely has been one of the greatest QoL changes in the game's development. It's not as major, but I'd also love to be able to fall more than two feet without taking damage. In BR, you can fall up to three tiles and be fine, but in StW it's like I walk down some stairs too fast and get hurt.

I'd say taking minor fall damage all the damn time doesn't really add anything to the game except annoyance. Much like sprinting, can StW get the BR treatment for fall damage calculations? It's another one of those little things that would make the gameplay feel more smooth.

Founders ending up in waiting queue

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 11:35 AM PDT

Why the hell am i stuck in a 30 minutes waiting queue for a game i actually paid like 50 bucks for while free players enjoy BR?

Im so pissed right now. How can this be a thing?! Has Epic Games made a statement on that?

New players need better tutorials on how survivors work.

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:39 AM PDT

I got the game 1 week ago around. Since then I've been playing nonstop, and it was only yesterday that I understood how survivors work, and exactly how important they are in the game. The thing is looking up guides and all is fine, but the game does a garbage job of introducing new players to the survivor mode, besides a simple put survivors here, etc.

We need a tutorial on understanding how survivors fit into different survivor teams, and how they affect gameplay, not just how to place random people in random open slots.

EDIT: I know how survivors work. Please don't explain here. Im just suggesting to Epic to improve the survivor tutorials.

Br emotes in Save The World

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 06:51 AM PDT

I would really love to be able to have all of my purchased emotes from battle royale put into stw. Like imagine making it rain after you fight off the storm or be in complete jubilation after completing a quest. I cant be the only one who would like this. If you think this idea is good give this some love so Epic sees it!

The Future of STW based on past patch notes

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 12:09 PM PDT

This is going to be kind of long but no worries, there will be a summary, and a tldr at the end.

Ever since BR blew up, people have been complaining that EPIC is neglecting STW, and that the game will never be finished. These compaints have been silenced significantly since the recent patch, which brought many new QOL changes.

I was wondering if such patterns were normal in STW, so I looked back on all the patch notes available to us. I think we can learn a lot about how STW will progress based on these notes. On their website, we can access patch notes from as early as 1.4.1. So here goes.

1.4.1-1.4.6, all bug fixes basically

1.4.7, First recorded balance change: War cry bug fix/Nerf and this important statement: Adjusted the mix of mission types in Twine Peaks, the change is aimed at adjusting the variety of mission difficulty while work is done on additional content

1.4.8-1.4.9 bug fixes (I will stop mentioning bug fixes from here on out because they aren't really important to this)

1.5.0 First recorded event Survive the storm, with hydraulic weapons. Added Canney Valley's Desert Biome to the SS Added cinematic for Ride the lightning, added shielder monster, Added a ton of QOL and UI Changes Soldier quick clip nerfs, and SMS nerfs.

1.6.0 Battle Royale. Yay?

1.6.3-1.6.4 A few STW bug fixes, but mostly BR.

1.7.0 Massive STW update, Horde Bash, tons of new heroes and weapons. Good times for STW players.

1.7.1-1.7.2 QOL Changes for STW and BR These were pretty generous, giving huge ability, health and shield bonuses to heroes. Here ability ninjas started getting really strong.

1.8 Fortnitemares (Halloween) bunch of weapons, heroes, you get the drill.

1.1 (12/6/2017) Updated quests for SSD's, updated art for Repair the shelter, and new content.

1.11 Br stuff. Christmas event. No mention of CV art/quest development since 1.5.

The next three patches are all for BR. The first patches that include no changes for STW. 3 weeks without any listed STW changes.

2.2 Bug fixes for us. New skins and content for BR.

2.3 Balance/bug fixes for both. Mutant storm came back along with a hydra transform.

2.4 Content for BR. campfire for STW.

2.4.2. Valentines event. This one was mostly for us.

2.5 Giant update for us, bug fixes for BR. Tons of hero reworks, spring it on event, new weapons. This patch was dedicated to STW.

3.0 We got a hoverboard and colorblind option. And a really big pistol. Really nice patch.

3.1 Some BR changes but mainly content for us regarding spring it on. Still no mention of anything canney+twine in terms of story/biome/art since 1.5

3.2 Can't seem to remember what happened here. Must've been pretty good. Just kidding, this was one of the most unpopular patches yet, for good reason.

3.3 & 3.4: Clean up on aisle 3.2 (3.4 contained a ton of QOL changes, probably one of the best patches so far)

Summary: Basically, if you're still here, STW has certainly not been neglected as a result of BR. Actually, overall, STW has received equal (if not more) changes as BR, and we were given much more additional content and events, whereas BR just gets weapons, skins and mostly bug fixes.

Epic hasn't really made any significant screw ups aside from 3.2 though people have been generally annoyed by the addition of new (largely useless) perks and the RNG system in general. So the hysterical posts about how EPIC doesn't care about us and how BR is killing STW have very little proof to support this (overall. Not saying 3.2 didn't happen). Most events come with a hefty QOL afterwards.

In terms of development for CV and Twin peaks, and the rest of the game in general (I'm assuming we will save the world at the end of the campaign so there'll probably be more maps?) There has been no specific mention of any kind of development or change since 1.5, when CV got a desert biome for the SSD. So, people who are concerned that the multitude of events may be overshadowing or even replacing the development of CV and beyond have ground to stand on. This doesn't mean that EPIC isn't working on the story, but they just haven't mentioned it, so we will likely just have rotations of events in the near future.

Some notes and predictions: It seems the reason a lot of bugs stay unfixed is because Epic always has to fix bugs related to events they pump out. The "main" game is being improved at a slower rate in a way because temporary events seem to draw a lot of attention and energy from epic. This is somewhat made up for by QOL changes though.

Additionally, STW is going to be free this year which means two things: (1) The game will be finished by (at the very latest) Dec 31, 2018 or (2) Epic will make STW f2p whenever they feel like it. The second option makes no sense to me, so we're going with the 1st.

If we are giving them the maximum amount of time (until the end of this year) and if we assume that Epic has been working diligently on the development of Canney Valley since at least 1.5 (8.28.2017) AND if we assume that the game ends after twin peaks (which it hopefully doesn't) then Epic should be almost done with CV by now. Assuming it takes the same amount of time to develop CV as it does twin peaks, CV should be done in about a month or two. The smart move would probably be to release CV as soon as it's done, but they could potentially reveal both finished zones together (but I doubt it).

Now, if we assume the f2p deadline is at a more reasonable time, like in August or September for example, then CV should be done. Honestly, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard to imagine significant work is being done on CV while all these events are being developed. I think they've said themselves that they are focusing more on gameplay issues etc. than the later levels right now.

The last thing worth noting is that we don't have much data to go off of. What will happen when it's Halloween again? If the events are recycled (which they probably will be since they're seasonal) but we see no progress on CV and Twin peaks, then and only then, can we start to entertain the idea that STW might die. I mean, they can't just keep tossing out event after event for years right?

tl;dr for patch notes Epic is not ignoring STW, if you look at all the past patch notes you will see we receive equal if not greater attention. There has been no mention or change related to CV and beyond since patch 1.5. QOL changes are common mid-event or just afterwards.

tl;dr for personal thoughts Seasonal events mean the events will likely be recycled. A game can't thrive off recycled events forever, it needs to be finished by some point. If Epic wants to released a finished game to the public in 2018, CV should almost be done by now.

Epic, can you please add an option to remove notifications from new expeditions?

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 09:44 AM PDT

It annoys me every time when there's a notification for it, it would be nice if we could disable it only for expeditions, and I think i'm not the only one who wants that option.

Btw, the update is amazing, im having so much with the game rn, great job Epic! :)

A few tips for newer players struggling to maintain their Nuts 'n' Bolts count.

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 04:43 PM PDT

Hi guys, most of my posts on this subreddit have been me asking for help and now I would like to try and help out others. A few weeks ago, I was in the spot I want this post to prevent people from being in. What spot you ask? Not knowing how to farm Nuts 'n' Bolts efficiently!

I am by no means an expert at the game, and this may not even be the best way to farm them, but this definitely helped me and now I always have over 10 stacks of Nuts 'n' Bolts.

Without further ado, here are the things I did and still do to farm my Nuts 'n' Bolts.

  • Head over to Stonewood, and find a mission in 'The City'. Ride the Lightning worked best for me due to it not being timed.
  • Once you're in, prioritize just running around the streets and mining: Parking meters, fire hydrants, electrical boxes, vehicles, mailboxes, and vending machines. You should also always search the piles of metal tubes as they will give you around 30 metal and a hefty pile of Nuts 'n' Bolts as well.
  • I usually leave once I have 999 metal, and go build in my Storm Shield with the metal I have acquired. You can choose to do this, or you can just leave once you've run out of objects to mine and repeat!

I hope this post helped somebody. If you have any feedback or suggestions to better these tips, please let me know!

Depression and Gaming: The Kindness Community!

Posted: 30 Mar 2018 03:27 PM PDT

Hey, i'm Sentrix and i'm the creator of The Kindness Community, we are a community of gamers that suffer from depression, autism, bipolar and other types of mental illnesses, when I was a kid I was bullied at school for being different, I didn't understand why people bullied me or didn't like me, I felt hopeless and I NEVER want this to happen to anyone else ever again. Recently I decided to create a community for gamers like me to join and have fun together without being judged or bullied because it's something I would have loved to have when I was younger. We have a new discord server for everyone to have a safe space to just chill out and have fun, the link is https://discord.gg/qaqR8D5, I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
