Fallout - What would have happened if the courier died in goodsprings?

What would have happened if the courier died in goodsprings?

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 05:11 AM PDT

In other words, what would have happened if benny shooting you in the head actually killed you? what would have happened to the mojave if you didn't survive?

Personally I think mister house would have taken over, as ceasar has a tumor so he's going to die soon, ulysses will probably end up nuking the ncr, the think tank never get the technologies they need so they don't realise the situation they're in, elijah won't be able to break in to the sierra madre because he's already stuck in the casino and can't get out.

And Kimball will probably be killed by Ceasar, so it all comes down to benny and M.R House, and personally I think mister house would win because he knows benny has the chip and he could always just storm the tops casino and take it from him.

Why I modded, then de-modded New Vegas

Posted: 25 Mar 2018 11:17 PM PDT

NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN INSULT TOWARDS THE DEVELOPERS OF MODS MENTIONED HERE. THEY WORKED HARD ON WHAT THEY DID AND DO GOOD WORK. THIS IS JUST MY SILLY FALLOUT PURIST RANT.

Today, I spent about two or three hours modding the absolute hell out of New Vegas. ENB, Nevada Skies, texture packs, project nevada, the whole shubbang. But when I played for a while, I couldnt stand it. After over 400 hours of playthroughs using little more than JSawyer, it all felt so...wrong. All the new places from World of Pain felt out of place. People didn't look the same with the character redesigns. I walked into the Nipton General Store expecting to see Boxcars, but finding some completely different looking dude in his place. The ENB I was using, while beatiful, just didn't feel like New Vegas. With the new weapon animations, sprinting, weapon bobbing when runming, it all felt artificial to me, like it didn't belong there. I deleted it all. Left Fellout, YUP, and JSawyer on, then continued the game. I'm biased, I know. The mechanics put in by these developers are great, and fix a lot of the gunplay and graphical issues and limitations with NV, which is one of its biggest flaws and one of the things I really liked about all the mods I used. But I love New Vegas for its flaws. I'm just so in love with the game how it is, my dumb ass can't handle changing it.

Replaying Fallout 4 after about a year off

Posted: 25 Mar 2018 06:10 PM PDT

I wasn't sure which faction I was going to go with just started exploring and going at it. But as I did in my first play through (I've had many since) I found myself pulled into The Institute again. I know they are flawed but to me, siding with any other faction does not make sense. They are 200 years of progress and have so so so much tech to help humanity survive. Even though they are morally questionable, blowing their institution to hell is extremely counter productive for all other factions.

Minutemen- want to help all, destroys facility capable of providing power to all the common wealth, plus steady supply of food.

Rail road- destroys only means of reproduction for the Synths they are dedicated to protect. If they want equal status humans for their friends, they just killed any possibility for them to create families.

Brotherhood- seriously? These tech hoarders are really ok with this? The institute is far more powerful than them, they could just take the base for themselves and get rid of the synths.

Even in a fictional world i cannot get past the extreme flaw in logic in blowing up this place.

Plus as far as Nate/Nora goes, keep in mind 200 years for them felt like 5 mins. The psychological trauma of their reality followed by meeting their son in the comfort of this prewar paradise with post war capabilities, why give that up?

TLDR: Institute forever

Wait a second, Kellogg......? <slight spoilers>

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 06:11 AM PDT

I was getting my coffee this morning and had a thought.

<SPOILERS AHEAD>

In FO4, you see Kellogg and his crew bust up in the Vault and take Shaun. Fast foward to the Sole Survivor being released from the cryo chamber and making his way to Sanctuary. We learn he's been frozen for 210 years.

Kellogg was already an adult probably in his 40's or so when he abducted Shaun. When you finally make your way to The Institute, it's revealed that Father is actually Shaun and the Sole Survivor sat in the tube for an additional 60 years. Even with his cybernetic implants are we expected to believe that Kellogg is around 90-100+ years old and still looks like that!?

Trouble finding caps in Fallout 3

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 11:08 AM PDT

So, I'm on my first ever playthrough of Fallout 3, loving the game so far.

But I'm finding it really hard to get caps, I'm only level 9 so maybe I just need to advance more?

So far I'm only getting enough caps at the end of a mission to replenish the ammo I just wasted on said quest.

I'm picking up every expensive-ish item i can to sell it, plus the lone caps I can get from looting but it's barely enough to get by.

Always needing to buy more ammo and pay for repairs I don't have the extra caps for let's say upgrading my house at Megaton.

What are the best ways to earn caps in Fallout 3?

Fallout 4: No longer hating the settlements. What to do at Boston Airport? (PC)

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 09:05 AM PDT

First play through. So in the beginning I hated F4, and talked a lot of shit about it. Almost stopped playing after about 6 hours of game play (currently at 100+ hours). Preston and his constant settlements in need of help was never ending. I thought that would come to an end, but we all know it doesn't. In the other Fallout games I've liked to work on each factions missions one at a time before I move on to another generally.

As I started to gain companions I needed somewhere for them to go, so why not the truck stop and then I was like... well they at the least need a bed each and some food and water. And then I went down a rabbit hole.... I have all the settlements decked out as much as I can right now (not playing with any mods).

So my question is what have you guys done at Boston Airport? Can't build stores, food, artillery.. so it's just sitting there cleared out.

Bonus question: What are your thoughts on Strong? He hates everything except murder, even lock picking!?

Top 3 least favorite dlc

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 09:45 AM PDT

Ok, since I did the top three favorite let discuss the top three least favorite with 3 being tolerable and 1 being the one you absolutely hated. I will give reasons for why I dont like it. One Rule: no workshop dlc that is too easy.

1.mothership zeta: before you roast me alive let me explain why, I just really hate the lack of ammo and health supplies because I am very much reckless with combat, plus it was a little too zany for my tastes.

2.Dead money:I have had a love/hate relationship with this FNV DLC.on one end I love the story of the Sierra Madre and the moral ethics of it,but I hate the mechanics of it from the ghosts to the damn. I feel this DLC is just flawed and I only will play it with mods.

3.farharbor:I like the concept of this DLC but I really expected more of a silent hill kind of vibe but I appreciate it for what it is.

Recommended mod list for FO4

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 11:32 AM PDT

I've not played fo4 in a year or so and want to try to get in to it again. Since mods are such a big part of Bethesda's games, i need a proper mod list. Since i haven't played in a long time i don't know what mods to use. If anyone has some mods that they would recommend it would be appreciated if you would post it.

I made a "proper" Fallout PNP Character Sheet

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 10:39 AM PDT

Hi everyone, I've been writing a Fallout PNP campaign for a while and I noticed that all of the character sheets I found online are poorly designed. Having some experience in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, I decided to make a prettier one myself.

Now it isn't the best, (or final version) but it should do you good. It is, however, designed to fit a reworked version of Fallout PNP I built myself. If you're wondering about certain things like "Sidearm" on the equipment section, it's just another equipped weapon that takes 1ap to switch to during combat rather than spending 4ap to use your inventory (Yeah it's stays as close as possible to the original games).

Favorite Fallout between Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4?

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 03:04 PM PDT

Hey all, I'm sure this question had been asked a thousand times already, but I'm new to Reddit and I want to know what the kind of vibe is here on r/Fallout. So I'd like to ask all of you, which Fallout is your favorite, and why? I'll also answer my own question so if you agree or disagree we can discuss.

Fallout 3 Pros: -DC Area is fun to play in -Karma system makes me actually think about my decisions -Fun quests -Watching your character grow up brings an emotional attachment to the game -The music/Three Dog

Cons: -Main Quest diminishes role playing ability -Weaker DLC (None of them were bad, though) - Personally, I get the least playtime out of the three in Fallout 3 -Main Quest relies on emotional attachment; without it, it's subpar storytelling -Vaults not particularly interesting -Your character dies unless you have DLC. C'mon Bethesda, we're not the EA fan base.

Fallout New Vegas Pros: -EXCELLENT Main Quest -The decisions you make in game truly impact the outcome -Somehow makes a desert interesting -Fantastic DLC -Nostalgia factor from previous games -Interesting Vaults -The companions are far better than in Fallout 3

Cons: -Can get repetitive at times -Not a ton of memorable quests (although it's been I while since I've played) -The songs on the radio are good, but just get old after a while -Was kind of a glitchy mess for me at first, more so than normal for a Fallout game

Fallout 4 Pros: -Nice to get a glimpse into Pre-War America -Settlement building -Mods for console peasants like me. Praise Godd Howard. -The crafting system -Interesting and even funny companions. Almost all of them have personality -Lots of play through time. Logged almost 300 hours on my first -The Institute is one of my favorite factions ever, and I haven't even done a play through with them yet

Cons: -Mediocre DLC -Dogmeat's "trick" -Radio just rehashed from Fallout 3 but Travis is worse -The Main Quest strips away a lot of role playing possibilities -Cookie cutter Vaults. They all felt the same to me -Preston Garvey -Downtown Boston would be cool if the FPS didn't drop to 15

I probably missed some stuff but you get the gist of it. Again, these are just my opinions.

FNV: The Sierra Madre Gold

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 09:02 AM PDT

I'm curious as to why the gold of the Sierra Madre is so valuable. Here in the real world, gold is a status symbol, showing wealth. But in the Wastes they should be far less worried about the stuff, especially since the only shop that can even afford the gold (Gun Runners) is located outside one of the poorest slums in the Mojave (Freeside).

I could see how it may be desired on the West coast, as there're likely wealthy individuals there. And on the East coast they have people like Tenpenny who would no doubt want the gold, but the Mojave should be the last place where gold is desired.

Need help brainstorming a Moon Vault

Posted: 25 Mar 2018 08:38 PM PDT

I'm currently planning a tabletop rpg campaign based in the world of Fallout and I had this interesting idea: From both the Fallout bible and their exhibit in FO4's NukaWorld, we already know that Vault Tech had their vision turned towards the stars.

Now what if, on the day the bombs fell, one of the missiles was not like the others? Instead of a nuclear arsenal, this rocket was carrying a few select humans. Instead of being aimed East, it was shot into the sky.

Now on the moon, a vault was waiting for them, built into the lunar crust by a team of hard-working vault-tech robots. This was one of their most important experiments. How would humans adapt to such an alien environment over generations. Would these humans still be fit for life on a planet? After 300 years, the reaction is designed to fail, diverting emergency power to a series of escape pods, meant to be shot back towards Earth.

Now I'm far from an expert on everything Fallout, and I'm sure that there's a lot of unexplored potential in the idea. Any thoughts? Either for an extra experiment, a unique effect of life in a Moon Vault, or just an idea for a vault number? At this point I'd take anything

Playthrough seven of F4 has just ended

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 01:40 AM PDT

While a lot of people dislike fallout 4 in comparison to the other games, I actually liked it after installing every DLC. So I have played through it a lot of times, a different role each time. I decided to share them, with a few spoilers that shouldnt be spoilers by now. But yea, spoilers.

A broken mother

My first character was just a person in the wasteland. A parent with a kidnapped child, who is willing to travel endless miles to find Shaun. She was armed with Dogmeat and whatever weapon she liked most and sided with the minutemen but never did much for them aside from clearing raiders. The faction choices were not made from personal interests, but from wondering who would be best for aiding in the search for Shaun. I imagine her settling in Diamond City eventually, a simple life, a new life.

Generally a General

From my second playthrough got a more serious focus on the factions. A Minutemen General, a protector and builder of the settlements. No marriage, but a lot of friends. He chose sides not from personal interests, but for the best of the commonwealth. Armed with the traditional Laser Musket that he modified to suit his needs.

Freedom!

I never liked the Railroad, but in my third playthrough I sided with them. I build a few settlements, imagining them to be safe places for synths that he protected with his faithful sniper rifle. Inspired by Deacon, I made him more of an infiltrator. He got the trust of the institute, he get all the synths out, and then blew them up. I didn't like the Railroad, but I liked the role play, and of course one question remains... Did he join the Railroad, or did he infiltrate them?

Just a bunch of gears and wires

Fourth was the institute. I liked the knowledge and technology they had, but not the way they used it, and I wanted a twist. So, this character became a synth. The real Nora died in vault 111, but lives on as the new Nora, a synth Nora. Father telling her that he wanted to see how she would do in the wasteland was true, she was just an experiment.

Ruling with a steel fist

Only as my fifth character I went with the brotherhood, I had seen a lot of them in the other games so I first wanted to explore all new things. I disliked them mainly because of their discriminatory views. You are send to kill Virgil, even though he was key to allowing them to beat the institute. He has to die because he is (or was) a supermutant. Then there is Danse, a soldier who could be a prime example of the BoS, but also a synth. So my character defected, and she now is a wandering soldier. Still disciplined and armed with Power armor and a laser rifle.

A Radiating personality

I loved my sixth playthrough as that was as a child of Atom, which got more depth with the Far Harbor DLC. The faction choice didnt matter much in the main game, but it was fun to do. She gladly spreads her faith in atom to try to peacefully resolve any conflict. Unfortunately Atom has only selected a chosen few, and everyone she presents her faith to ends up dying from sudden radiation poisoning. But such is the will of Atom, so she then moves on to showing her faith to the next passer-by.

I'm just gonna hurt you, really, really bad.

The seventh playthrough and most recent was my favorite, overboss. Armed with a supersledge and a shotgun, she was a murdering, pillaging, tormentor of the commonwealth, accompanied by the disciples and the pack. She doesnt care about caps as long as she gets enough to do what she wants, she loves chems and she loves watching people work for her, and if she doesn't like the way your face looks, you will get a super sledge to the nose.

My next playthrough might be an engineer, accompanied by the mighty codsworth.

Homebrew Fallout RPG

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 10:05 AM PDT

So I've been playing Fallout and DnD for years, and recently I've been playing a lot of both pathfinder and Fo4. I really love them both but one of the things I've always really disliked about the Fallout series (and even the elder scroll series), is that wandering the wasteland is kind of lonely, and that I wish I could play with my friends.

I've looked through a few homebrews and have done some FO themed pen and paper games, but it always felt like it was missing that proper fallout feel that I loved most about the first and second games, so for a bit of fun I've been working on my own homebrew. It's not done yet and considering I put a little work into it every day or so, it probably won't be a while, but me and a couple of buddies have used the foundation to play a couple of smaller games.

I was hoping some people here in the community would be interested in reading through it and giving me some constructive criticism on what I should change or add. I'm trying to keep it closer to the isometric games, but it basically just feels like a reskinned pathfinder to me. As I mentioned, it's not done, so if it looks like something is missing or incomplete, that's probably why. Let me know what you think!

Drivable vehicles in fallout 5?

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 07:01 AM PDT

There have always been wrecked vehicles strewn about the different wastelands. And the other day I was thinking about how it would interesting to drive around the commonwealth in a car or one of the tanks. So would you guys like to see drivable vehicles in the next installment of the franchise? If not, why?

Has Bethesda learned from FO4 vs. New Vegas?

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 03:18 PM PDT

Has there been any public or rumored comments about Bethesda's direction on the next Fallout game in relation to game play style. Will they bring back the more open ended multiple game play style of New Vegas. Or are they going to make another open world game with a linear story and linear character playability? FO4 seemed to sell very well, but frustrated the RPG players out there who wanted the ability to spec the character in specific ways in order to complete the tasks and game in different ways. So which lesson are they saying they learned, people spoke with their money buying FO4. Or they spoke up by complaining the game had less options than New Vegas.
