[suggestion] Crown items should not count towards inventory or bank space.

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 07:14 AM PDT

The reason I bring this up is that there are a lot of crown items that don't make sense to use right away.

  • I'll hold on to XP scrolls until I decide it's necessary to grind.
  • The one day research scrolls I'll wait on until all nine research slots are over a day of time, and similar treatment for the longer ones if I ever get them.
  • Potions, poisons, and food are useful to keep handy but take up space.
  • I have no desire to buy furniture until it's ready to be used. Which means I'm going to pass on any limited time sales.
  • I won't use crown repair kits until almost all my gear is near broken, which is rare for me.

Oh, and a quick related side note: what am I supposed to do with crown dyes? They might be useful someday, but they just sit there rotting until then. I'm tempted to destroy them and cut my losses so I can get some bank space back.

Anyways, the point is the inventory space used on crown items feels like an odd tax. Honestly I'm at a point where I feel overwhelmed with all the crown items especially the ones from the level up rewards.

One option to help mitigate this problem is a "Crown Trunk" similar to the crafting bag. Although this one shouldn't be locked behind the subscription since crown items are mostly behind a paywall already. But, I'm also fine with the items staying where they are as long as they don't take up precious space. I'd like to hear more ideas as well.

Elven armor will be one of the motifs for summerset

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 08:08 PM PDT

Fairly sure "Elven" style which we last saw on skyrim and oblivion (it looks more like the oblivion one) will be one of the motifs for summerset. makes sense as the description even staes its worn by high elves/altmer. probably a no brainer but just thought id share anyway!

Why in the world would he do that?! I just flipped them for 50k.... Kinda feel bad for ripping him off now..

[Discussion] Master crafter

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 03:34 AM PDT

Hi all, i recently got into ESO! It's amazing. So i did some research and found out it would be a good thing to make one toon a 'master crafter'. I understand the benefits, and decided i want to invest time to make one. But here comes my concern: You'll need to invest a lot of skill points into crafting so how bad will i be at combat if I decide to invest all those skillpoints. am i still viable or shouldn't i use the toon for combat and pvp and just tend to crafting? Thanks!

[Theorycrafting] Nightblade Sneaking sets viable for vet dungeons

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 04:23 AM PDT

Good day, I've quickly fallen in love with thievery in ESO, so I'm looking for decent combination of sets which will allow both good sneak bonuses and combat stats as Stamblade. For now I've stopped at 3pc Night Terror, 5pc NME and 4pc sentry - which gives me ~46% weapon crit and 3117 weapon damage while all epic, no buffs. I'm also considering 5pc hunding, 5pc NME and kena+veli or slimecraw.

Will forgoing monster sets and full monster sets be a big dps loss, and will my setups be good in vet dungeons? I really want to have one set for everything, because I could easily go NMG+Hunding+2pc stormfist or something closer to meta if I considered carrying 2 sets of gear at all times.

An Imperial's Guide to Tamriel. Chapter V: The Mages Guild

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 04:20 AM PDT

Chapter I: The Daggerfall Covenant

Chapter II: The Aldmeri Dominion

Chapter III: The Ebonheart Pact

Chapter IV: The Fighters Guild

Chapter V: The Mages Guild

Just a slight disclaimer before I give my opinion of the Mages Guild. I am not a Mage. I have never been seen charging into a dungeon or battlefield wearing my bathrobe and waving a stick around. I'm an Imperial and I charge into battle wearing heavy armour while holding a sword in one hand and a shield in another. I don't use magic. That said however, I somehow still qualified to join the mages guild. Hooray for me.

The Mages Guild was originally founded by Vanus Galerion, a high elf from the Summerset Isles. I have to admit that I'm a bit surprised it wasn't a Breton just by judging how the current version of the guild is mostly a giant book club. In my experience if I see someone running across a field with a pack of wolves trailing behind them, nipping at their heels it's usually a Breton mage who has abandoned all sense of self preservation in favour of grabbing a tome in an upturned cart that the wolves had been picking through. Galerion had a dream of uniting all of the mages and bookworms under one banner and allowing the sharing and spread of magical knowledge. Galerion also had other revolutionary ideas, such as allowing anyone to wander in off the street and buy magical items and spells. I'm not saying this one in particular is a good idea, merely revolutionary.

The current guild leader is a Nord named Shalidor. This is quite confusing for me as I would have understood a High Elf or a Breton in charge but a Nord in charge of the guild is just mind boggling. I'm not saying Nords don't deserve to be in the mages guild but how do they even cast magic? Does Shalidor shoot lighting out of his battle axe or did he just beat up all of the more bookish mage guild types until they let him lead?

The island of Eyevea, formerly off the coast of the Summerset Isles used to be the main base of operations for the mages guild. The island was originally owned by the High Elves but was purchased by Shalidor at the cost of some "minor artifacts". The number of times I've come across Shalidor's toenail clippings in jars while going through Auridon makes me really wonder just what it is that the high elves were traded for the island. One has to imagine that they let the Wood Elves negotiate that one to try and teach them responsibility and that the wood elf just spent the entire meeting ignoring the boring nord and staring out the window at the trees in the distance.

Having purchased an island at a bizarre price, Arch-Mage Shalidor began his work of building up his new base for the guild. The buildings in Eyevea were built in the classic high elf architectural style. Perhaps thinking "imagine if all the buildings were beautiful but weren't filled with cranky bureaucratic elves?". A dock was even constructed, perhaps in case the mages got sick of taking portals everywhere. Then Shalidor traded his wonderful new island for a book. To Sheogorath. The god of madness.

Now, if I were to list races I think are skilled at negotiations my list would include Imperials, High Elves, Bretons, properly motivated Khajiits and Dark Elves. The reason Nords do not make the list is because of situations like this. Shalidor traded an island that he had just finished building a community on in exchange for a single book. This book is called the "Folium Discognitum" and is described as the brilliant insights of rambling madmen. So yes, essentially the Arch-Mage traded his island to a highly unstable GOD OF MADNESS in exchange for a collection of insane ramblings, which if they are anything like the ramblings I've come across in my travels is most likely something along the lines of "I once defeated Joruun in singles combat when we were alone together and nobody else was around. I deserve to be the Skald King now". There's not even a mention anywhere if people were allowed to leave the island first or if Sheogorath just tossed Shalidor the book and then magicked Eyevea off to the Shivering Isles.

I feel as though any prospective Imperials looking to join the mages guild should perhaps wait until different leadership is in place. Yes you get the never ending fun of collecting books for the rest of your days but at any point you, your home and your loved ones could all be transported to the shivering isles in exchange for a collection of rantings and ravings. I also wouldn't exactly say the Mages Guild pays all that well, at least you get treasure from killing Daedra with the Fighters Guild, with the mages guild you kind of just get the joy of reading tome after tome. Who wants to spend forever just reading someone's rambling thoughts on a subject anyway?

In the next entry we will look into the Thieves Guild.

Need advice on things to do with 2 people. New to game

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 11:15 PM PDT

I'm trying to get my fiancee into the game but don't know anything fun to do with 2 people. I enjoy questing but it's not as fun with 2 people imo. She loved wow and a couple other mmos, so I think she will like eso, but every time she gets on i find ourselves aimlessly wandering around tamriel and end up getting bored looking for fun delves or bosses to fight. I've only been playing about 3 weeks so I don't even know what's out there! Any input would be helpful!

As a MagSorc (pet) what's more important? 81 Thaumaturge or points into The Apprentice?

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 04:07 AM PDT

Hey guys! I'm currently cp430ish and am building my magsorc.

I'm trying to understand where to invest my CP initially. I know a lot of my abilities are damage over time and the 10% bonus from 75 Ritual seems significant but that exhausts most of my CP.

Just trying to understand if it's worth it or if I should focus on:

The Attronarch:

18 Master-at-Arms

The Apprentice:

49 Elemental Expert, 40 Elfborn, 33 Spell Erosion

Before investing so highly into Thaumaturge.

Any and all help is much appreciated.

Sincerely, JK

Level all crafting professions or focus on less?

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 03:35 AM PDT

Hi there. As a long-time WoW player I returned to ESO after playing it for like a month after the initial release. I read up some informations and guides and then started leveling a Stamsorc (just played like an hour so far).

Now i was wondering how many and which professions are worth leveling (as Stamsorc). Do i focus on Clothing and Woodworking for medium armor and bows or do i also level blacksmithing, alchemy and the other stuff?

Thanks in advance!

Questions about Summerset PC Collector's Ediiton

Does the physical PC collector's edition include the base game and Morrowind? Also, will it be on disc or a Steam code?

What a difference your class and build can make!

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 10:58 AM PDT

I leveled my main character all the way from level 1 to CP 250 or so as a tank, and I have mained tank ever since I started playing. I don't even have a level 50 DPS character.

I just created a stamsorc dual wield character...

The difference in playing solo content is almost indescribable.

On my Main (the tank) I run through an area and grab as many enemies as possible because it takes me so long to kill them that I need to kill as many as possible with my AoE at once. It takes me ages.

On the stamsorc, enemies die in seconds. Usually no more than 2-3 ability activations and 2 light attacks. It's nuts.

It feels like I am just screaming through the content compared to my tank.

Returning player needs advice

Posted: 27 Mar 2018 03:04 AM PDT

I had a long break from the game last year and I just jumped back in, used to play healer but decided to start a warden character and go through morrowind.

What are wardens best at and what should I be doing from the start? Love doing dungeons and never did get to finish dragonstar so I'll be getting round to that at some point also.

Only have about 5k gold and 13k crowns if that's important!

Thanks for reading! :)

What should I focus on in game?

Posted: 26 Mar 2018 10:49 PM PDT

As a level 16 and a really new player to the game, is there anything that I should be focusing on so I don't regret not focusing on it later? If it helps, I'm a dk.
