How come no third-party company has made a good GC controller replacement given rising costs?

I was recently on Amazon and noted that the base level prices for a GC remote are now over $100, and probably are still rising. Other older controllers arent near these prices, so demand seems to be way higher for GC controllers. But they arent some secret device, third party controllers for other systems have often been fine - GC ones have just all been terrible and cheaply priced.

So why hasnt anyone stepped in to make a high-quality GC controller at say a $40 price point? Seems like it could be quite profitable.

Ever lost friends over Smash?

I'm interested in your stories since I'm currently in a Smash 4 hangover after playing against some really salty "friends" for an hour. Here's mine.

My old friends have a tradition of playing Smash every day in the evening. It started out alright with little jokes at each other's expense for fun, but now that I established that I'm not bad at the game they take every chance they can to prove I'm bad. And they're definitely not casual players because they love to try and teach each other things about the game, and they started watching tournament matches to 1up each other on their knowledge. They ask each other if they've improved since the last game, yet they never ask me for advice when I usually beat them. They team up to beat me but they're rollers, so they find an excuse for their bad play. I've told them that constantly rolling is bad, but they never cared to stop so clearly they don't actually want to improve.

Now whenever I lose they cheer and compliment each other. When I win it's always a chance to insult me. Even as I fight them in the game they say things like "stop spamming" and "stop grabbing" and "stop using that move." They criticise my play by saying "all you do is grab" or "you juggle too much" or "you always go after me" and my favorite of all, "Corrin is OP." One has been especially passive agressive by not telling me (and only me) that there's a smash tourney nearby, or quitting the game when I arrive. That same person told me today that Corrin is the 2nd best character on the tier list, above Cloud and just under Bayonetta (they're a Cloud main).

If they can't find something to nitpick about me, they blame the controller for not being able to react in time, or what have you. I don't return the salt, either. I only defend myself over ridiculous claims but I can't take the constant criticism. How am I supposed to enjoy smash like this? I usually sit there and laugh it off but it's been getting to me so much that I have to listen to music while I play or else I get super nervous and tense. Today was the last straw. I'm just disappointed we couldn't all have a good time. I'm sure they'll rejoice when they hear the news.

Hi everyone! Gyromight here with the next edition in the Pacific Northwest Smash 4 series, Port Priority 3. This is shaping up to be one of the most stacked tournaments in the history of the Pacific Northwest, and we'd love to see everyone out, from both the PNW and from Tristate, in order to make this the best tournament possible.

There's a number of reasons why you should attend, too -- we've already confirmed top players such as Dabuz, ANTi, Mr. E, and John Numbers, and working on getting more Tristate players to come out via our compendium. When you combine these guys with PNW heavy-hitters like Konga, Captain L, Locus, Big D, Cacogen, KOSSismoss, and more, you get an event that's sure to bring the hype all day long.

Steal one special from another character to improve your main

If you could replace one of your main's or mains' specials with the same input from another character (Up B to Up B for instance), which would you choose? The properties of the move are identical aside from adjusting to the new model and Custom variants are allowed.

I think Ness in any game would benefit greatly from either Sheik's Gale or normal Vanish, flavored as PK Teleport. A more reliable recovery that doesn't make him helpless would be a major upgrade.

Alternately, Fireball would be a small but useful change to PM Bowser, giving him a way to zone people trying to grab him through his armor

Obviously Ness is terrible, and his main weakness is his horrid recovery, do you think thats the only big thing holding him back, and if he had a great up b like firefox how high do you think he would be on the tier list?
