Can we talk about Bayonetta?

It sounds like a broken meme record, but I genuinely feel she is killing Smash 4. Her options completely outclass every other character, risk/reward ratio is heavily skewed to reward, etc etc we all know the reasons.

I think the biggest reason is her punish abilities make opposing players feel like their skill levels are completely invalidated. When the players put in hard work playing the neutral, minimize their damage taken, get Bayo to kill percent, yet die anyways from any number of Bayo confirms to up-B chain, it feels completely demoralizing; even the commentators can't contain the disappointment in their voices when a Bayo kills a hype lead with some low% death combo. He might not have said it, but I think we can all agree that Bayo is a contributing factor to why ZeRo burnt out, and losing him was a huge blow to the meta. Most of her kills feel unfair, her edgeguarding abilities are basically "anti-Smash", and her recovery is so good that she dies more from SDs than getting edgeguarded— goddamn, there goes the broken record again.

"Let the meta play out, don't be so quick to ban, people will adapt to her": Well guess what? Her dominance is only getting worse. 4 out the top 8 were Bayos at Frostbite. Yes, MKBayoslayer wasn't there, but this is the future we are barreling towards. I, for one, see it as a dark one. Agree or disagree?

Edit 2: It needs to be said that the top TOs who can actually make the ruleset changes are good friends with Bayo players so they have a vested interest in not banning her no matter how bad it gets. As much as I understand their difficult position, I want to call it out because I feel like such nepotism will be at the cost of our scene. I hope they can balance their options and come to a decision that will benefit the community's long-term future.

Hey all, does anyone remember the Genesis 3 fundraiser? It was a pretty big project I took on, and it was really fun! We raised $1690.36 to get 3 people's trips to Genesis 3 funded, and I by the end of it I had a system for making these fundraisers a regular thing. In fact, we had $204 leftover from the first fundraiser to kickstart the next one.

...And then I didn't do another one. This thing took a lot of time, effort, and babysitting, and my life ramped up in busy-ness at around the same time. Smash.gg was ramping up as well, and it seemed redundant to do a fundraiser on the sub outside of it.

So anyway, I just remembered about the PayPal account, and it's about time to figure out what to do with this money. As I see it, there are a few options:

Someone else takes over the fundraiser. I'd be more than happy to help them get everything set up, but I can't be the one in charge of it since I don't have the time.
We donate the money to a player's "Help me get to ____" fund. This is super in-line with what the money was collected for in the first place, but deciding on which player and which tournament is the only challenge.
We put the money towards one of the compendium goals on Smash.gg. Again, very in-line with what the donators were putting their money towards. The only question is which compendium goal/tournament?
We donate it to some charity. Feels less in-line with why the funds were gathered in the first place, but they were charitable donations so... I guess this is an option.

If you have a favorite or another option, please let me know. We can do something cool here.

Why not refund the money?

God, would that I could. Who would I refund? There were 53 people who donated, and everyone who donated also voted on the players they wanted to see the money go towards. We ended up not doing first past the post voting, which made for a really cool but really complicated system I spent a lot of time on (seriously, just look through this spreadsheet). Point is, there is no way I could give the money back to people in a way that would be fair. Plus, I told everyone up front there would be no refunds because of all this.

2GG: Banned Saga

I know 2GGC loves having a story line for a saga and this story is just too much of an elephant in the room to pass up.

Here are the conditions: 1. Cloud is banned from doubles. 2. Bayonetta is banned from singles.

In order to break the curse, a player who currently mains Bayonetta will have to win (for the sake of this tournament, Tweek and Abadango will be considered Bayonetta mains).

I know 2GGC is usually one of the major players when it comes to introducing ideas into the Smash 4 community. So please Champ...

P.S. I live on the east coast and will fly out to support this tournament.

A pro-Bayo argument that really bothers me

"Lul learn the matchup" "git gud" blah blah blah.

I don't play smash competitively. I strictly enjoy smash as a spectator. Usually I get this kind of response after complaining about Bayo because of a match that was just played. Learning the matchup doesn't solve any problem at all for me because I am watching something, not participating in it.

In fact, this is a huge reason why people hate this character. Not because they can't beat her, but because it is absolutely miserable to watch her play. It is completely unfair. This is such a horrible argument that doesn't solve any problem for many of the people that dislike this character.

I've used this example before but this argument would be like this. I'm watching an NFL game and I keep getting angry because my team's QB keeps getting sacked and my friend turns to me and says "learn how to block better". This logic makes no sense. This truly is a dark time. Why waste my time watching a tourney if it's just going to be spoiled by such an obviously stupid character.

Not should, but HOW would Bayonetta be banned?

I've seen a lot of "ban Bayo" threads today especially, after Frostbite's top 4, and while I actually still thought it was a hype tournament, there is an argument to be made that even Bayonetta players would benefit from her not being in the game, due to more viewership/sponsorship and general growth.

However, this is not another one of those threads. IF, I mean IF, we found that 100% of the community wants to ban Bayonetta, how would that ban happen? Who decides that? The TO's? Is there some official rule set out there? Do we write a letter to ol' Sakurai?

And also, how would the community start that movement, instead of being an echo chamber of Bayonetta hate and anger at the game? Whst is the actual plan of action we could take, IF the scene would benefit from a Bayo ban?
