Could HiRez make a deal to make skins based on Paragon and Gigantic, as a tribute?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 06:58 PM PST

With Paragon and Gigantic recently announced dead, its only natural that their players will seek another 3rd person MOBA to play, likely Smite. The influx of Paragon players was very obvious on Reddit, and I think that, if HiRez could make a deal with the developers of those games, they could make skins based on one or two of them, so Smite was more inviting and could show we welcome them with open arms. Thoughts?

What happened to stability on Xbox One?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 05:51 PM PST

I don't remember the last time I was able to play more than a single game without issues of servers going down one way or another.

It wasn't like this middle of last year... What happened?

I'm getting tired of trying to see what my opponent is building, being unable to see the scoreboard and then knowing that means the game is unplayable after this match. It's not like the sudden influx of Paragon players is happening on Xbox... Please halp...

This Game saved me(or how i learned to stop hating myself and love a squirrel) *long*

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 08:54 PM PST

TL;DR I was VERY depressed and Ratatoskr helped me get over it for some reason...

let me preface this by saying this happened way back in 2015, so i spent my entire high school career working my ass off, retaking the ACT, and occasionally playing Smite with friends. I graduated in 2014 and after retaking my ACT for the third time got a 27, which netted me a really nice scholarship to a University in Missouri I was overjoyed finally ready to move out and make it on my own.

Then reality hit me....

I have never had a worse time in my life, I fell into the habit of lethargy, I'd skip class, sleep all day, was a general jerk to my suite mates (One of them still plays Smite, so sorry for being rude)...and of course I still played Smite with friends. After two semesters i lost my scholarship and couldn't afford to keep going to School i had to drop out, after all the work i did in highschool i threw it all away in less than 10 months.

After I got back home for the summer of 2015 I kinda fell into a depression, I hated myself, i couldn't find a job, got into fights with my parents and just didnt want to do anything, just sleep sulk. Around May 30th or something i get a message from a smite friend he tells me to look at the new god its fucking ridiculous. Sure enough there on my PC screen a little squirrel is doing back flips on the main menu. I still don't know what caused it or what sparked, but something about that ridiculous new god was very comforting to me.

So i started playing again, started talking to my friends again, i started living again, i got a summer job ( not much but SOMETHING) stopped having so many arguments with my parents, and every night i'd get to sit down and play a ridiculous little character in a game about larger than life gods; something about it was comforting. I really just fell in love with the character, something cause me to anchor myself to that character, as long as Ratatoskr was in smite I'd be fine, i know it sounds really pathetic, but thats what i did.

If you ask anyone that knows me, theyll tell you i HATED the rework, and I'm pretty sure it was because of that anchor i had (Im not still self hating and depressed cause of it, by no means) and thats pretty much why ill never be happy with the Rat rework. So it puts me in a funny situation: Ill always love Hi-Rez for making that character and in-directly helping me get out of my pit but at the same time ill never forgive them for changing him.

but thats it, figured it'd be nice to share.

In 4.24, Frostfire Ullr came out. In 5.1, it's still broken.

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 10:27 AM PST

Since day 1 of this skin, teammates are unable to see the base color of ullrs human form (pre level 10) change with stance swap. This goes for enemies as well. It can lead to confusing situations, and makes a statement about the QA team that this has slipped by them over and over.

hi rez pls fix

Edit: Its been brought to their attention. Glad to see that feedback still gets received! :)

[Rant] My school just deleted smite from our esports arena

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 02:50 PM PST

I'm attending UCI and we have a pretty modern arena dedicated for esports. In the computers you can find common competitive games like LoL, Dota, CS GO, Overwatch, etc. But you can also find casual games like Minecraft and even Lawbringers. Up until a couple of months ago you could play smite in the computers, and I thought this was a fantastic way to get to know people that played smite, but that's not true any longer.

I have no idea what happened with the game, I tried contacting the people in charge of the arena and still no answer.

I think it just goes to show how little attention smite gets from the community despite being a great game (been playing since S2).

Or it could just be a contract gone wrong or something

Rant over

There should be an MOTD that is just regular Conquest with Picks/Bans to prep for start of Ranked

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 06:40 PM PST

Like, that's it. It's the exact same rules as ranked, but not ranked. Help develop a little insight into picks and bans.

And while you might say "blah blah blah casual strategies don't work in ranked" the majority of people who would even play this motd would be people interested in ranked as nonranked players would just stick to casual conquest.

SmiteFire's Updated S5 Conquest Guide - Great for New Conq Players

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 08:53 AM PST

Has anybody else seen a case of Mercury (or other) popping ult more often than seems feasible?

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 05:30 PM PST

I just got out of a game in which the enemy Mercury ulted 2-3 times per short engagement. Mercury's ult cooldown is still 90s and he had no cooldown reduction, but he was ulting approximately every 20s or so, definitely more often than 90s. Has anyone else seen this? Is this a possible hack or exploit?

A very long season 5 Fenrir's Build Guide - The Return of Deathbringer (and Evil)

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 05:49 PM PST

tl;dr: Warrior Tabi / Void Shield / Stone Cutting Sword / Mantle of Discord / Deathbringer / Bloodforge.

The History of Fenrir, and what has changed:

Hello Friends, after much theorycrafting, and as much testing as I've been able to get in in these past few days, I feel like I've come up with a pretty slick Jungle build for Smite's best dog. For about as long as Fenrir has existed, it's been pretty fashionable and effective to build him with a general formula of maces (Jotuun's, Titan's, Beatstick), and some defensive items (usually cloaks, Bresplate, and shields). This build always achieved a good balance of damage and survivability that Fenrir needed, and has definitely played to his strengths. Of course people have tried building Fenrir basic attack oriented, but these builds have always been loss popular, and less effective. At best, a hybrid basic/ability item like Hydra's or Bloodforge would be picked up. The available match history of Fenrir in the pro league corroborates this

https://smite-esports.gamepedia.com/Fenrir/Match_History

However, things have changed. Gradually, the maces have been eroded, it's no longer a no brainer to pick up Titan's, because it is no longer the bar-none best physical damage item. Beatstick's incredible 20 pen was cut down, Jotuun's CDR and Pen got chipped a small but meaningful amount. At the same time, Fenrir's passive has changed to be much less awkward to use with his Seething Howl. While consuming Fenrir's passive with seething howl always had its uses, the stun is what you're after most of the time, and now that Fenrir can howl, and then jump-stun, gaining a big damage boost and not losing any frames after initiating, basic attack Fenrir is more attractive. Items have slowly changed too, Stone Cutting Sword, Bloodforge, and The Executionerave all either escaped the nerf-bat, or have gradually matured into excellent items for Fenrir to take advantage of. And of course Deathbringer, the centerpiece to this build, has not been nerfed nor buffed but changed. Changed to be efficient as a single-slot-crit-item, as was the old Rage of season 2 past.

Because of all of these factors, crit Fen is now good, damn good even. With only DB as a crit item, you can consistently maul the opponent for big crits, without having to gamble on a low crit-chance, and without having to disrupt your power curve early game, to stack Rage.

The Build:

Start: Assassin's Blessing - Purification Beads - Chalice of the Oracle - 2x Health Potions

Explanation: Assassin's Blessing is obligatory, no jungler will go without it, ever, the clear, sustain, and bonus gold when splitting granted makes this unquestionable. Purification is another obligatory first purchase. Assassins are neither tanky enough to simply fight through crowd control, nor ranged enough to have the choice to always avoid it. Double for Fenrir as he relies on a channeled ability sometimes. While you may try more aggressive starts like Horrific Emblem, Sprint, or Blink, Purification is listed here because it will always, always be good, and often optimal. Chalice of the Oracle is near mandatory, wards are weaker due to the map being bigger and less open, the amount of vision granted and gold saved by buying this item early is far too much to pass up. Having it from level 1 lets you track the enemy jungle's start path, and keeps vision up the whole time. You'll want a couple greens just to avoid being poked out too easily. Blues instead of oracle and then buying the oracle is a fine idea if you have early game mana problems.

Item 1: Warrior's Tabi

Explanation: All boots have their utility on Fenrir, they do, but the reason for Warrior's tabi here is fairly simple. Fenrir's scaling is very good, and we're building crit, and trying to hit very hard over just a few basics, so pumping up power is the way to go. Talaria's and Reinforced are decent calls, but this build gets protections online fairly early from other items, and makes really good use of pure power, so Warrior's is the best.

Item 2: Void Shield

Explanation: Void shield recently received a nice little change. It got a bit of HP, and more physical protections in exchange for a bit of power. While it's true that I stress pure physical power in this build a bit, the protection reduction and protections from Void Shield are whats more valued here. Void Shield early is great, 20 penetration is a hell of a lot, the most flat of any physical item in the game now, the protections let you tank creeps/gold fury/tower better than any item that gives that much damage has any right to, and the most typical enemy team has 3 physical damage dealers, and only one powerful magic damage dealer. The 100 HP it has now even contributes marginally towards surviving this magic damage. This item provides an excellent power and protection progression to Fenrir, letting him continue to pour on the aggression.

Items 3 and 4: Stone Cutting Sword and Mantle of Discord

Explanation: The choice as to what order to buy these two items is of course, up to how you read the situation. Stone Cutting Sword functions similar to Void Shield, it lets Fenrir continue to pour on pressure by not only amping his damage, but also contributing to survivability, granting him some physical protections when stacked, and movement speed. Mantle of Discord on the other hand greatly increases survivability, especially against magical damage. This is the main reason that this item is bought, because without it you will simply be too easy to kill for the enemy mage. While Fenrir mostly has to worry about physical damage, due to mages being so scared of him, and the majority of the damage taken in a game being physical, it is imperative that at least one magical defense item is purchased, so that the enemy mage can't shut you down easily. It is recommended that mantle of discord is bought if you find the enemy mage is doing well, and/or the enemy team is suited for locking you down and blowing you up. If snowballing, the Stone Cutting Sword. It's a great basic attack item that will complement Fenrir's lifesteal and soon deathbringer nicely, amplifying his damage and making it a bit easier to stick to targets with the movement speed.

Item 5: Deathbringer

Explanation: As detailed before, DB's change to a 35% crit chance is what makes this build possible. With a 20% crit chance, it simply isn't consistent, too often you will get no crits out of it, as Fenrir does not specialize in hitting the enemy with many basics, but instead a throwing them between skills and then to finish the enemy off. If Fenrir is doing nothing but trying to box with basics, he is doing something wrong, sustained melee basics simply carry too much risk and will result in being locked down by the enemy guardian. 35% suits this role perfectly however. With this item, Fenrir will now be capable of jumping into the enemy, and hitting the enemy with a couple basics, with an expected crit-chance of greater than 1.0, all the while healing for 35% lifesteal. Nevermind how much more devastating those guaranteed post-ragnarok and post-brutalize basics will be, on average. And if it comes down to it, Fenrir with this item can trade basics with the enemy hunter and come out on top if he starts with a bit of an upper hand. This item now provides way more value that anything like Heartseeker, Hydra's Lament, Transcendence, or a mace ever could.

Item 6: Bloodorge

Explanation: This is the cherry on top. Fenrir's power, lifesteal, and survivability are already high. Bloodforge jump ups the ante on all of these. With 75 extra power, all of Fenrir's attacks are going to hurt like hell, and the shield provided from Bloodforge is something that Fenrir can take advantage of well, and reliably receive. Importantly, unlike other assassins that may buy this item, lifesteal is far from a dead stat on Fenrir, healing for huge amounts per basic to keep Fenrir alive in a fight and granting lifesteal on basics, even when seething howl is down.

Second Relic: Sprint, Shield of Thorns, Ankh

Explanation: These are the go-tos for secondary relics. They are situational, and should be bought as such. Sprint is a great pick-up for two reasons; slows are extremely pervasive in smite, and the fatalis effect on it has wonderful synergy with the build. Shield of Thorns is for basic attack/lifesteal heavy teams, especially a Freya, without this item against her, you may end up as lifesteal fodder and nothing more. Ankh is similar to thorns, but more general, excessive enemy healing, especially in combination with lifesteal will make this item optimal, and disallow Ra or whoever from hiding in their healing while you try to kill them.

Other items to consider: Shifter's Shield, Hide of the Urchin, The Executioner, Hide of the Nemean Lion, Winged Blade

Explanation: Shifter's Shield can take Void Shield's place early game, in the case that the enemy is magic biased. It functions similarly, in that it provides a lot of damage, and some nice protections, however it has magical protection on it, so if the enemy is rocking 3+ magic damage, it's a good substitute. Hide of the Urchin is something you can build in place of Discord, as a third item, and then inserting discord as a last item. With this build Fenrir will become very tanky, while retaining quite impressive damage thanks to the total of 50 penetration from void shield and SCS, coupled with deathbringer and all his built in power. The executioner can be picked up as a last over Bloodforge, or instead of SCS. This item is prescribed if the enemy team is very tanky; Fenrir will have no trouble beating them down with this item, strong basics with lifesteal are a tank's worst enemy perhaps. Finally, due to the flexibility of the last item slot, a counter-item can be picked up without losing the core power-curve and effectiveness of the build. Nemean obviously targets hunters, and Winged Blade can be inserted if the enemy team is very slow reliant, the item provides incalculable value in these situations.

Conclusion: Constant erosion of CDR and physical penetration items have caused the classic assassin mace / cloak / breasplate stack sub-optimal, and simultaneous changes to Fenrir and basic attack items have made a crit-based fenrir build better. This build gives a smooth power and protection curve, granting strong damage and good survivability. Give it a shot!

Adaptings video taken down

Posted: 30 Jan 2018 11:44 PM PST

So Adaptings recent video titled "S5: Loki" was taken down by Merlin (PIAS) on copyright claims. I do not know what exactly the claim was but I want everyone to know that Merlin is known for taking down stuff for shit they arent affiliated with. They have done this multiple times with Team Fortress 2 youtubers. I want to raise some voice about this because I want them to stop. What they do is essentially piracy. You can find examples of their bullshit when you look for those TF2 video makers who have been copyrighted. Worst of all this time Merlin went on "copyright claims" but blocked the video in SPECIFIC COUNTRIES.

Conquest mains, would it make it easier to forgive the terrible team mate if you knew they were only playing Conquest because a quest asked them to?

As to say they normally don't queue Conquest at all but did because an event quest or something demanded it. Would it make it easier to forgive if you knew for certain they aren't there for the same reason as you?
