My nine month pregnant wife went out of her way to get me this for Valentine’s Day. I have no idea what I did to deserve her.

[Research] What do you (dis)like about companions like Meeko?

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 04:12 AM PST

Hi there!

I am a student at the University of Duisburg-Essen and am currently working on my bachelor thesis about "Social Companions in Digital Games".

Social Companions are NPCs that accompany you in the game but are not playable themselves. These can be humans, animals or fantasy creatures. A good example is Meeko or any other NPC that accompanies you, but is not playable/controllable.

For my thesis, I conduct a survey to find out how Social Companions are perceived, which qualities are judged positively or negatively, and whether/how you establish an emotional bound to them.
It would be super helpful and I'd be grateful forever, if you had 15 minutes to spare to click through my survey. :) (In order to be able to answer the questions, you should have played at least one game in which you were accompanied by a companion.)

The survey is purely for scientific purposes, i.e. it is not related to any businesses, is completely anonymous and takes maximally 15 minutes. If you have played The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim with Meeko as a companion or BioShock Infinite, The Last Of Us, Fallout 3/4, Fable 2/3, you have the option to answer additional questions about these games (this takes about 3 additional minutes).

Here's the questionnaire.

If you have any question, feel free to pm me!

Thanks a lot!

New Builds and Role Playing

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 06:32 AM PST

Hello fellow Dovahkiin!

Just because I thought it was cool I wanted to share a little bit of my current character. When I started off, I wanted to focus on the civil war first. I am a big Ulfric fan so I joined up with the Stormcloaks and did all that.

Then I knew I wanted my character to run through the Dark Brotherhood quest and I thought I would just role play as an assassin and do random stuff this time around. Nothing crazy just fire up the game every now and then and kill some people. Of course I then discovered the Beacon of Meridia and did the casual eye roll that we all do. But I decided not to skip the quest and now I forgot just how kick ass Dawnbreaker is, especially when theres an explosion when killing undead. So I have now changed my character to a dungeon delver who's sole purpose is killing all undead he can find as a Meridia despot. And that is a turn I have never taken in all the playthroughs I have done.

So after that too long and not so interesting story, my question to you is, have you ever changed your mind on your playthrough and build in game because of something that occurs, or you think of something you hadn't before? How did it pan out? Did you enjoy the experience more, or wished that you had not moved away from your original intentions?

Fuck you, Aerin!

Posted: 15 Feb 2018 12:51 AM PST

So i was working with the Dawnguard when some hired thugs came after me. After killing them and reading the contract it said it was from Aerin. I dont know what i did to him to deserve that as ive never been to his house to steal but i am in the thieves guild. Then literally 5 minutes of walking later, a dark brotherhood assassin came after me. i know they happen randomly but i liked to pretend Aerin performed the black sacrament to get them after me.

i tracked aerin down in Riften but he was always with his secret (obvious) lover. so i had to go into an old ruin to retrieve Mjoll's sword for her to be able to hire her. i risked my life just for my revenge plan which was all worth it. I get back and give her the sword. then tell her to follow me. i lead her behind Aerin's house and tell her to wait there. Then i wait for Aerin to enter his house.

When i go in he is upstairs and i wait in the basement. eventually he goes to the main floor and sits at his table seat facing away from the basement stairs. i then shoot an arrow into him with The Bow of Saturn (my own enchantment) and loot his body, rob his house and eventually i plan on marrying Mjoll. The ultimate revenge.

Does it sound like all the male voices are done by the same guy ? And it's the same guy as Nick from FO4 ?
