#RSHotfix: Draggable Presets

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 04:06 AM PST

Hello everyone,

Great news, so as not to spoil your Double XP weekend, we've just deployed a hotfix which now allows you to click and drag your presets inside your bank and order them how you like.

We feel this will help massively with the issues you may have with the presets since the Bank Rework taster update.

Hope you enjoy!

Dailyscape fix #1: Raids lockout

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 01:43 PM PST

Jagex, get this through your thick skulls: If the choice is between a delayed update or a bad update, every player would prefer the delayed update.

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 01:01 PM PST

How many times is this going to happen? If the problem is you guys don't know how to make a realistic time line, then fix that shit. Stop pumping out "Quality of life" updates like this bank teaser which literally only make things worse.

God help us if this a tester of what's to come, and stop pretending like a "teaser update" is totally different from a "batch update"

Cut this shit out, Jagex.

EDIT: Okay, this is getting considerably more attention than I thought it would.

My biggest complaint isn't with this updates mechanics necessarily, even the biggest issue of preset binds is easily surmountable but it shows a level of thoughtlessness that sucks to see in updates, especially if they're so anticipated like bank rework

Please Stop Locking QOL Updates Behind Paywalls!

Posted: 19 Feb 2018 09:16 PM PST

I know that bank presets have been purchasable for a while now, but I really think purchasing things like bank space, bank presets, and action bars have no place in Runescape.

These kind of paywalls restrict the players ability to play the game without good reason. Jagex does not do this to save server space or for any other technical limitation on their end. See OSRS's bank space for an example.

It is unfortunate that Jagex has resorted to watering down their quality of life updates until you pay a certain amount. I have to pay 3 BONDS or 480 RUNECOINS to unlock 1 PRESET That is excessive to say the least. This the equivalent of paying $90.00 in Bonds or $50.00 in Runecoins for all of the bank presets. This is almost one year's worth of membership, just for some bank presets, which make playing the game a more enjoyable experience. Don't even get me started on action bars and bank space.

I should not have to pay more money to make the game I am already paying to play easier to play. Stop imposing these paywalls on your own content- you are shooting your updates in the foot by doing this. At the very least let us permanently unlock things with loyalty points. I have thousands of loyalty points that I am unable to spend due to a lack of content to spend them on!

If you want us to spend more money on your game, make more high quality cosmetics for us to spend money on. QOL update restrictions are not a good way to squeeze extra money out of us, they are a cheap cash grab and your developers should be ashamed of implementing these limitations.

Edit: To those of you commenting along the lines of "Oh, but you can just play the game and earn GP to pay for these so it's okay" Assuming you are a member, the best money making method someone can reasonably be expected to pursue is tanning black dragon hide right now at 9 m/h (http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Money_making_guide) This would take a player roughly 5 hours to earn one bank preset (3 bonds at 15m each), and 25 hours for all 5. The amount of time required is prohibitively high, forcing most players to pay money for them instead.

[Guide + script] How to set up a Google Spreadsheet to automatically get GE prices

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 05:32 AM PST

Video guide: https://youtu.be/i6LezCIP_HU

Script: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/DevAndersen/RSAutoPriceUpdater/master/RSAutoPriceUpdater.gs

I've been asked a handful of times to help people set up Google Spreadsheets that can get the current GE price of items, for example for tracking total value of loot tabs or cost/profit of certain tasks.

There currently exists guides on how to do this, however I've found them to be outdated, suboptimal, and less than user friendly, so I decided to make a solution for this.

What I've made is a Google Apps Script (a script for Google Spreadsheets) which will add a drop-down menu to the menu bar. This will allow you to generate a separate sheet which will automatically keep item prices up to date for you, based on the ID of an item.

To get the ID of an item:

To get the price of an item into another sheet, simply set the text of cell you want to fill with

=Prices!D2

Replace the number 2 to reflect the row that corresponds to the item of interest.

When setting up the script, it will tell you, in a rather alarming way, that "This app isn't verified", and that the script wants to:

  • View and manage your spreadsheets in Google Drive
  • Allow this application to run when you are not present
  • Connect to an external service

While it may seem dodgy, all it means is that it's not an official script app, and that it wants to edit the spreadsheet, keep prices updated around the clock, and retrieve the item prices from Jagex's servers. Scepticism is understandable, which is why I've made the script public; that way, you can read it through yourself to ensure it doesn't do anything you don't want it to.

Important: Sometimes, item prices will not update. This is normal, and is caused by Jagex's API being unreliable. In the worst case, some item prices might be a few hours outdated. If you're first setting this up, or adding new items, it may take some hours to get the initial prices. The 'Last successful update' and 'Last attempted update' columns can give you an idea of how outdated an item's price is.

TFW you’re maxed combat, have overloads, turmoils, Pak Yak, 99 Slayer, and tier 80-90 weapons across the styles, but the only real boss you’ve beaten is QBD.

I'm terrified of bossing tbh. And there's a commitment to other people in raids that I don't feel comfortable with, along with the anxiety of knowing that if I start doing the high end bosses, I might not have anything on this game to look forward to.

Unpopular Opinions Thread

Haven't seen one of these in ages and I feel like they're quite cathartic.

My unpopular opinion: The 2 day lockout in Raids is good for making raids armour a long term achievement, especially considering the fact that full Achto isn't commonly BiS anywhere.
