Posted: 22 Feb 2018 09:03 AM PST Hey everyone, we hope you guys are as excited as we are for Outbreak and Operation Chimera. Mods:As we prepare behind-the-scenes for the new season, we have made some internal changes to mod structure-- We have 2 New Moderators: u/SexualRhinoceros and u/WindAeris. Wind has actually been on the mod team for a few weeks now, he moderates a number of subreddits and has been doing great work on /r/Rainbow6. Much like Wind, Rhino joins us from the Discord crew where he has been an admin since the server launched over a year ago and joins the team of ridiculous moderator account names. We're very excited to work with him. In addition to mods joining the team, we have two moderators stepping down: u/IceyCat and u/Shit_Post_Detective will be leaving the mod team. Both have decided to step down due to shifting schedules and other real-world obligations. We sincerely wish both of them the best and we will be forever grateful for the work they have volunteered to this community. Up next, we are now accepting applications to join the moderation team of /r/Rainbow6. If you have previously applied to become a moderator of /r/Rainbow6, you will need to fill out the application again-- having applied before will have no standing in the new applications (so it will not work for or against your application). If you're interested in potentially joining the team you can apply here: We look forward to the applications. Rules:Lastly, we are changing the rules of /r/Rainbow6. As the subreddit traffic has continued to grow, we failed to keep the rules updated to reflect changes in the community and began leaning too heavily into unclear rules (infamously the "No low effort posts " clause). I will go over each of the rules, note any changes, and give explanations for the rule, it's change (if there is one), and the intended consequence of the rule. The primary goal for these rules changes is to make rules clearer for the community, the current moderators, and future mods New rules/policies will go into effect Friday at Noon EST. Rules will not be retroactively applied Quick policy changes:
Rule 1: Content Must be Directly Related to Rainbow SixPosts & Comments Please Do not post spam or content unrelated Rainbow Six If you submit an image or video, it needs to contain assets from within the game itself or related artwork. Assets simply overlaid on Siege or vise versa do not count. "This thing looks like a thing from Siege" style posts are also not allowed Explanation: This is the fundamental rule for the subreddit; it is what gives this subreddit it's distinction from other gaming subreddits and keep it focused on the Rainbow Six. This rule is also used at times for comments that wildly veer off topic into religion/politics/etc. There are obvious exceptions to this rule of fan art and cosplay. This is also the rule that stops the "look-a-like" posts of security cameras, car batteries, and things of that nature Notes:
Rule 2: No Accusations of Cheating, Hacking, Exploiting or Attempts to "Name and Shame"Posts and Comments Do not post any cheating/hacking/exploiting accusations identifying suspected players. Includes: videos/text/images of any suspect players unless censored. Providing names of accounts in an attempt to Name and Shame is included in this.
Explanation: The purpose of this rule is two fold: 1) Moderators of /r/Rainbow6 do not want to be the gatekeepers of what is "enough" evidence of cheating, hacking, exploiting, so it is entirely forbidden. 2) To stop /r/Rainbow6 from become a pseudo-vigilante message board. It is simply too easy to get a sizable number of people riled up and start harassing accounts, often without real evidence. These kind of posts about Esports people can be okay, but attempts to get people banned from anything/calls to get them banned will be removed. Notes:
Rule 3: /r/Rainbow6 is Platform NeutralPosts & Comments /r/Rainbow6 is platform neutral; anti-platform and platform elitism is wholly unwelcome here. Examples of unwanted comments include:
Explanation: This rule was added a while ago to combat a common discussion topic on the internet, that ultimately had little to do with Rainbow Six and just lead to thought-killing dead end arguments and overt fan-boy-ism. No change has been made to this rule Rule 4: Follow Reddiquette and Reddit's sitewide RulesPosts & Comments No behavior contrary to Reddiquette or Reddit's sitewide rules, including but not limited to:
Explanation: Following Reddiquette makes Reddit better for everyone. Sitewide rules are mandatory for moderators to enforce. Parts of this rule overlap with other rules, we usually cite the rule that most closely applies to the rule breaking content. No changes to this rule Rule 5: Do not Harass, Insult, Discriminate, or TrollPosts & Comments Do not launch personal attacks or insults targeting at an individual or group of people. Age, nationality, race, gender, sexuality, religion and economic status are all irrelevant here. Racial supremacy, making distasteful analogies in this regard, sexism, homophobia, insulting or harassment is not acceptable in the slightest. Explanation: This is technically covered by other rules, however, it's important enough to warrant its own direct and clear rules. This is by far the rules that results in the most bans, especially when things get towards the top of /r/All Rule 6: Content should be Safe-For-WorkPosts & Comments No posting Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content including:
Explanation: /r/Rainbow6 is a SFW subreddit, no change to this rule Rule 7 : Follow Posting GuidelinesPosts All posts must follow the Posting Guidelines: https://www.reddit.com/r/rainbow6/wiki/post_guidelines Posting Guidelines Listed here for convenience:
Explanation: This is the most major change to the rules-- this use to be the No low effort/Low quality post rule, and before that the No Shitposting rules. We weren't happy with it, and we know you guys were not either. We started to use the rule too broadly, unclearly, and unfairly. The intent of the rule was to allow moderation some flexibility, but it lead to lazy moderation. We have replaced it with the posting guidelines to allow us to dynamically change smaller rules as we need while transparently giving you guys a page to consult. We will make a post whenever these are updated (such as when a high volume of similar posts starts), depending on the situation, these posts may or may not be pinned to the top of the subreddit, but they will always be denoted with the "subreddit-meta" flair. Rule 8: No Selling/begging for/buying/trading anythingPosts & Comments Do not post or solicit for the selling, buying, trading of codes, keys, Accounts, event tickets, DLC, gameshares, etc. for anything under any context. Explanation: Reddit is a really poor place for this sort of post, there are sites that handle this much better that should be used instead. This rule was broadened before the Invitational due to a few posts about Invitational Tickets-- no change was made to it today. Rule 9: No MemesPosts only Memes/ Siege assets overlaid on other media are banned. Explanation: Common internet jokes with Siege assets just thrown on top of them amount to little more than "oh, i guess this is somewhat relevant to Siege too". For now, community inside jokes/references are okay (Tachanka Lord Jokes, etc.). No changes. This is very likely going to be the next rule that sees a major overhaul as the term "meme" has become nebulous with its rampant overuse. For now, we'll leave it intact to limit the amount of changes at once and give the team more time to provide a more concrete definition Rule 10: Follow Reddit's Self-Promotion GuidelinesPosts & Comments Posters must obey Reddit's guidelines about self-promotion, known as the 9:1 rule https://www.reddit.com/wiki/selfpromotion Reddit is not the place for free self promotion, those who wish to post their own work should also be strong members of the community, not just spammers. No referral, affiliate and/or survey links. Only posts will count towards the 9:1 rule, comments do not. Explanation: The goal of this rule is to stop the deluge of twitch stream links and youtube video links that people use to promote their own work. Things like "I am just looking for feedback" fall under this rule as well. The only change to this rule is clarifying that comments do not count towards the 9 in the 9:1 ratio. FAQ:Q: What should I do if I see a rule violation? A: Report the post or comment using the "report" button just below the post or comment (each has their own). /r/Rainbow6 now averages over 1,000 posts a day and 5,500 comments-- accordingly, things can slip through the cracks. Always report rule breaking posts/comments when you come across them. Q: I received a message about violating a rule. What do I do now? A: The first thing to do is to actually read the message. Really. A lot of the common questions we get can be answered by reading the message. Minor rule infractions typically result in your post or comment being removed, the accompanying message should include the reason. If you have further questions regarding the issue please contact the moderators, and include the link in question. Replying to a removal reason comment or PMing a moderator may go unanswered due to the very high amount of messages we each individually receive daily. Q: I received a message about being banned! What did I do? What should I do now? A: If you received a ban, it is likely for a more serious rule violation. Temporary bans serve as a stronger warning to stop the behaviour the ban was issued regarding. If you have questions regarding the issue please reply to the ban message to discuss the issue with the moderators. [link] [comments]

The Vigil and Dokkaebi stealth nerf nobody is talking about (TTS) Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:26 AM PST Some of you may have noticed, that on TTS the SMG-12 used by Vigil and Dokkaebi is now much louder than it is on live. That is because it now has lost its status as a suppressed weapon, without it being announced in the patch notes. Why is this such a big deal?
I honestly don't see why the SMG-12, out of all machine pistols got hit this patch and I think, that this "ninja nerf" should be revertet asap. What are your thoughts? (Edit 1: Formatting, its my first Reddit post) Edit 2: Thank you for all the upvotes so far. I get that some people might dislike the SMG-12 and downvote this post because of it, but keep in mind, that I was only pointing out an unannounced change to it, which will mostly affect stealthy gameplay on Vigil. Not dps, nor accuracy of the SMG-12 have been changed so its "op-ness" hasn't been fixed. Tomorrow I will upload video evidence of a ninja nerf to a beloved operator that WILL upset even most stubborn people on Reddit. Even if just a little. :) Edit 3: What I wanted to post tomorrow was Bucks apparently nerfed gadget switch speed (As seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB5lg1Fupkk). However, there was another post showing this before I could upload the Video to Reddit and Epi commented, that they're looking into it, so I won't create another post about it. [link] [comments]
