Bodiam Castle

I started by terraforming a 100x100 block in the desert biome (between the two broken highway bridges). Adding the water moat was a huge pain in the ass... I almost gave up during that portion. The castle is made of reinforced concrete and I painted all of the tiles except the reinforced wood tiles, which are actually wood tiles.

I did not fully furnish the castle, but I spent a lot of time on the (outside) details. I also... took some creative liberties with the court yard! I would be happy to provide additional screen shots or even the save game if anyone wanted it. I don't do videos!

I am now looking for a new project - I am thinking about doing Pyke (from Game of Thrones - modeled after the TV series version) but I have yet to decide. I am open to suggestions ;).

What does undetected mean now?

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 07:24 PM PST

I've been away from the game since 1.3 or 1.4 and I recently started a new game. I can now crouch, see an 'undetected' message and then watch a zombie break down a house door to get to me. To be clear he's breaking OUT of the house. This is nice as it gives me a chance to break rocks or chop wood while I wait for the zombie to break down the door for me but it's not very fun. Is the undetected mechanic outdated and left in the game or is this a bug?

Valmod players, I'm putting together a list of changes I want to implement in the mod/maybe try to help the creator out.

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 10:58 AM PST

Here is the list

So the changes are mostly towards the mid game in spreading out rewards, add some new classes for new items in the game, add some new weapons, recipes and more. All while balancing out the skill progression in the mid to late game with the mod. I want to know your thoughts on this, any ideas you like/dislike? Any additions I should look into adding to the list?

I have played valmod a lot and really would love to help with the mod and wanted to come up with a changelist to make it better. Plus if they are willing to let me help them, mod fixes/updates could happen quicker.

What am I Missing with the Machete?

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 08:57 AM PST

I see a lot of people tout that the machete is one of the best end game weapons, but a level 600 machete does the same damage as a 600 spiked club, but does not have the concusive/bleed effects mentioned in the description.

I also ran a swing per minute test by using a metronome and found hat the machete only swings 4 times a minute faster than the club; 46 spm vs 50 if I recall the test outcome. This test was performed with both blade and club skills at 0, with no points into the "knife guy" or "pummel pete"

So am I missing some attribute of the machete, oher than the cool factor?

[PC] Highest Max Spawned Zombies You've Successfully Run on a Dedicated Server

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 06:09 AM PST

Hey guys! Been playing since like Alpha 4 or something crazy. As I come back over time so much has changed that it is hard to keep up... I was setting up a dedicated server, and it suggested no more than 80 zombies (max) for server performance. Has anyone had success going above this? To say 250? I'm considering rolling some dedicated hardware for a lan party situation. Maybe create an MP mod where you try and make it through waves of zombies.

More Proof that You CANNOT Stop Sleepers

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 12:53 PM PST

I recently joined a friend's server to help them out (a lot of newbies). They holed up in a POI, something that I personally never do because sleepers always come back. However, based off most of this community saying "bedrolls" and "land claim blocks" and "activity" prevents spawning, I decided to roll with it and see how it goes. Even though I personally felt their efforts were futile, I was going to help them make it work.

I upgraded the entire house with reinforced conrete, then repainted everything to make it look like new. The server has about 3 hour day cycles, and we're currently on Day 23. So doing some basic math, it took about 70 real life hours for the sleepers to respawn inside an ACTIVE building with 7 ACTIVE bedrolls and an ACTIVE land claim block.

I was inside crafting when I heard something beating on the door. It's impossible for anything to be inside, so I went outside via the balcony and jumped off to check the doors outside. There was nothing there, so my stomach turned as I realized they were inside. 5 of them, and a feral. Just smacking away at everything.

You are never safe from sleepers if you use a POI; it is only a matter of time.

Defense Bases

Which base designs have you tried and what are the pros/cons you have found with them?

How long will lake base last?

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 01:26 PM PST

On my first day I looked everywhere to setup a base, I tried a house in the forest biome but sleepers kept spawning so that wasn't happening. After in game hours of searching I finally came across an isolated shack on a platform in the middle of a lake, it's being held up by beams and no sleepers so far. So I thought this is perfect, but how long will this last? I know zombies can't drown so it's only a matter of time.

In need of performance tweaks

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 11:21 AM PST

As the title says, i need advice and possibly some recommendations for performance tweaks to be able to play the game on an old laptop.

I will be playing randomly on it for a few days, when i'm visiting my family once each month, i will basically play it to kill time if i'm house sitting or if i can't sleep, so i don't need it to run perfectly or for the game to look pretty, i just want to be able to run it decently IF IT'S EVEN POSSIBLE.

Laptop Specs: AMD C-70 APU with AMD Radeon HD 7290 8gb ram.

As of now with the basic game settings i have it in 640x480 looking potato-ish running sloooooow, the only thing i noticed is that the trees look too good, so i'm open to suggestions. (No, don't suggest me to burn the laptop please :P)

Is there anything to do? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks in advance!!

[PC] Modded vs. Standard servers lists

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 11:10 AM PST

Our server is in the "modded" list now, and all I've changed is what gets dropped on death. Does anyone have a list of what changes are allowed for the "standard" list vs. which ones will put you on the "modded" list?

War of the Walkers

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 10:19 AM PST

I'm coming back to 7dtd after a year or so to try out the War of the Walkers mod.

How much does it enhance the play when compared to Vanilla?

I put nearly 300 hours into vanilla before getting bored.

If you play War of the Walkers, what do you enjoy most? Is the game any more challenging?

[PC] What mod(s) would be good for nomadic play style?

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 09:18 AM PST

Lately I've really been digging the nomadic style. I play with 2-3 other people. We're looking for an overhaul/expansion mod to freshen things up. I've seen people talking about their favorite mods, but I'm curious if a nomadic style would affect what mod(s) would be good for me.

Any suggestions?

DO NOT BUY ON PS4. BUYER BEWARE!

Posted: 05 Feb 2018 08:43 AM PST

The game is plagued with bugs and game-breaking issues. I love this game and it's a ton of fun to play, when t actually functions, but fucking hell is it terrible.

  • Clunky controls straight outta 2005

  • 0.5~0.75 second control lag

  • full second lag in mp between pressing the interact button, and actually interacting

  • full second sound lag

  • garbage draw distance

  • Zombies will extendo-arm and hit you from over 2 meters away

  • constantly getting disconnected during MP (gamebreaking)

  • absolutely terrible, thrown together mp in general. No server selection, it just throws you in a random game.

  • terrible performance all around, your game WILL freeze for several seconds in MP (gamebreaking)

  • your maps WILL corrupt after a random amount of time

  • THEY HAVENT UPDATED IT SINCE SUMMER 2017

  • little to no customer support. Is it still being developed? We don't fuckin know 🤷‍♂️

  • Broken, purple textures are extremely common

Overall, was it worth a full $29.99? Fuck no! Is it worth a discounted $15.99? Meh, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone besides masochists.
